State of the Association

Mr. Logical address the Cam Newton video making the rounds around the net (1:45) Two-Five vs Court-Storming. (08:10) Is there anything wrong with the NBA? If so, what is it? (10:32) A certain NFL Coach has decided his future is in Westwood. (37:00) What is the End Game for Eric Bieniemy? Everyone supports the troops...but the troops? (54:35)

[00:00:00] What I had. Good evening America. Sports reports order. Yes.

[00:00:17] The even kill. Virginia born. New Jerusalem zone. Bill Bill The one and only Eric, the enemy of the state. He goes on to Westwood to be the associate head coach at UCLA. And of course, you know, we gonna get this thing started with that thing that we like to call. Get it off my chest.

[00:01:42] So Mr. Lott, unw first dude that threw the punch, he threw a right hand, but his right foot wasn't on the ground. You can't get any power in that punch. You can't throw a jump punch at Cam Newton. And maybe you had to because you're 5'7", trying to fight Cam Newton.

[00:03:02] And then he held you off while being bear all times, but that's just flat out idiotic. It's idiotic because you're out there with kids. You're in the event where a guy, I'm pretty sure Cam's not going to stop. He might hire more

[00:04:20] effective security. And then you talk about guys team, you know, you got a guy that makes a great pass, a great catch, a great interception on this platform. Cam Newton tags a minute. Now the head coach at Kansas or some scout at Kansas sees there or some scout at Iowa season. Like, oh, this guy, who is this guy? He's 17. He's going into a senior year. Like,

[00:05:43] let's follow this guy. Let's, the man had 45 touchdowns when he here. Only person that can take nine is Von Miller. Von Miller is bigger

[00:07:03] than him. You're not trying to fight Von Miller. Right. So, you know, I don't know, man. You said it all, but it's just wild to think about, you know. So, get it off my chest. As a parent, part of your job is to anticipate the future.

[00:08:23] You know that your kid is going to touch the stove.

[00:08:26] You know that your kid going to get a little too close coming downhill, somebody clipped them in the knee. So I say that to say, I don't have a problem with court storming or field storming, but there has to be more nuance to it as far as let's get the other team off the field

[00:09:40] or let's get both teams off the field.

[00:09:42] And now y'all have fun,

[00:09:43] go throw the goalpost in the river

[00:09:45] like Tennessee did if you want.

[00:09:47] Actually showed up on Google maps too. I saw, I believe it was like a big high school game, maybe it was a college. And they saw the fans were gonna storm the court. And the players on the losing team, he just took off running. I remember watching him run away from the wave of people. And he kept his head up and he just ran off the court.

[00:11:01] You know what's coming.

[00:11:02] I remember the Duke Clemson game one of the workers this year. Yeah, somebody like, one of the photographer or some or sound guy. Not that like that. Got his leg complete, you know, got his leg torn up. Dennis Roddick, kicking people. Yo, he kicked over with nuts. LeBron got his head hit. Remember that? Camera.

[00:12:20] Yeah.

[00:12:20] Little blood.

[00:12:21] You know, so yeah.

[00:12:23] But we wanted to get started with

[00:12:25] the state of the association.

[00:12:27] You know, even'm pulling it up now. Like I said to you, we're having a conversation at the pre-meeting.

[00:13:40] I think the current state of the NBA,

[00:13:43] and if we're comparing it to,

[00:13:46] because the NBA players, just don't have that same marketability.

[00:15:02] And then one of your points, I don't want to steal it,

[00:15:05] but I'll bring it up and let you expound on it. He was a member of the Cavaliers and the Heat, both won championships with him outside of Boston. So the marketing of the player kind of squashed the team rivalry piece. So now anytime you talk about a player, ifies. You know, only four or five teams made the finals in the eighties anyway. And you had Larry went to the white city, magic went to the Showtime city. It wouldn't work reversed. Right. And like I said last night, you know,

[00:17:42] this was the first East coast West coast war.

[00:17:45] This predated Tupac and Biggie, you'd know LeBron for the decision, but that's why you don't like him as an individual. You don't like him because, you know, it's not doing him being a great-

[00:19:00] You're being great basketball related or like-

[00:19:02] Yeah, it's just that conversation.

[00:19:04] So to whereas contrast that with the NFL, divisions years ago and everything like that. But it was just because this was the one seed or this was the two seed or so on and so forth. So also, you know, now the NBA is talking about expanding, you know, Las Vegas and Seattle, shout out to the hat. Seems like they're in the chamber right now, you know, but outside of money, which is obviously it's a business.

[00:20:24] Yes.

[00:20:24] Is there a need to expand?

[00:20:26] Like, is there like as a fan, you get those match ups at some point Justin Fields going to Georgia, transferring Ohio State, you get to see this high school kid that you saw on a Netflix documentary. Now he goes to college, Sam Hartman was on a Netflix documentary Spencer Rattler. We still follow him. If a kid that wants to go to the NBA, he can't come straight out of high school.

[00:21:44] So he goes either overseas, G League or OTE. to go straight from high school into the NBA, and then you let that young talent develop in the NBA, then we can start transitioning all of these conversations about some of these old heads. Like there should be a guy in the league that we look at as the next CP3 when it's his time, but we got CP3 still, and that's all we focus on,

[00:23:02] because the young guy goes away for a year.

[00:23:04] We don't see him.

[00:23:06] We don't see or hear from him until the draft the NBA's worst nightmare happened. The Indiana Pacers made it to the championship, even though they were playing against the Lakers, it was the Indiana Pacers and a lot of people got introduced to Tyrese Halliburton, who I've been talking about for at least two years. But- When he got traded from Sacramento,

[00:24:20] like a lot of the pundits were like,

[00:24:22] this doesn't make any sense.

[00:24:24] Like why would you trade-

[00:24:24] Yeah, if I was Sacramento,

[00:24:26] I would have kept him and let Fox go. draft are twins, you know, that went back to back in the draft. And I want to know how many games of Asar and Amen Thompson, the actual the fan of the NBA has watched or seen or heard about them now Asar. You might not hear about him as much because Detroit is the

[00:25:43] worst team in the league, you know, but I'm in gonna be screaming, fuck the Gators. Still got that email address, by the way. I hate the Gators at Yahoo.com. We still made it when I was 16. But I'm still going to be hating on the Cowboys, that Prescott's grandson or something. This is how it works. But in the NBA, I can't even count on Lakers and Celtics

[00:27:03] fans to still with their rivals. But that's what it is with these, because everyone's chasing the chip. Cause if you could talk about, remember when Houston won like 20 something games in a row, yeah.

[00:28:23] I don't recall six or would have won the Giannis.

[00:29:41] Boston was in the NBA Finals.

[00:29:44] Who won it last year?

[00:29:45] I'm drawing a blank.

[00:29:47] The Nuggets. like if they don't win a championship or something. It doesn't matter if first take undisputed. They're gonna have to talk about them. They're gonna have to. They're gonna have to. They're gonna have to because LeBron has this next April. That's April June playoffs, whatever player.

[00:31:02] I can't see him playing at 41

[00:31:07] or even wanting to change their model. They're probably just hire a bunch of guys like Draymond Green and Chris Paul will be on TV all the time to kind of keep that bridge together.

[00:32:22] But at some point you're gonna have to realize,

[00:32:25] Kevin Durant's not gonna meet in this arena. Right. To battle it out. I think there's the Instagram,

[00:33:44] AAU, high school marketing aspect of it. And at no point have I saw him and thought he can't play on an NBA roster. Especially in a league that shoots so many threes. Shoot so many threes. Even if he doesn't play defense, you get him with the right coaches. Listen, if you want to get, I'll give you four threes a game.

[00:35:00] If you give me 75% defensive effort.

[00:35:05] Yeah, I'll call four plays for you.

[00:35:07] You could pop these threes.

[00:35:08] You go two for four. or they compare current players to legends when you can't get a definitive answer. And that becomes the topic. Give me a Dame Kyrie comparison. You know what I mean? Give me a Jason- Give me a Halliburton. Halliburton versus Fox was a trade worth it conversation. There you go. Like that's the-

[00:36:20] Like I said, SGA versus Trey Young,

[00:36:22] like who's gonna be the next young small guard

[00:36:26] to walk in the early 2000s or so. So I was listening to him earlier today, or I guess somebody that talked to him said that he did, that he did receive interest from NFL teams to be their offensive coordinator this off-season,

[00:37:42] but he had to sit back, reflect,

[00:37:44] and decide what he wanted to do,

[00:37:45] and this is what he chose to do. if I better word throughout the country and throughout, you know, the professional league or the college ranks, they go to Alabama, they get one or two years, they use that talent pool, they put their system to work, and now they look like genius coaches. Let's keep it on it. If I'm an offensive line coach and I go to Alabama,

[00:39:04] I'm going to look like a I'm Eric being in me because like I had it, I had it as a fan. I'm not an insider. So I knew that it was going to all end in tears in Washington. But yeah, he left the Super Bowl winning combination

[00:40:21] between him and my homes because he called the plays.

[00:40:24] Every year, Andy Reid made. So I just, you, you use the phrase betting on yourself. I just wish that it was a little bit more of a logical decision. Like if you would have called, like if you would have called me,

[00:41:43] I would have told him like, yeah, don't know, whatever. But maybe the end game is Dion's not going to be at Colorado for a long time. And Eric B. enemy is angling to go back home, even though he could have had that job previously. You

[00:43:00] know, maybe he thinks or at this stage, Shannon Han, that whole tree of plate coaches, they were all in their thirties, like the little floors and all these other guys, McDaniels, all these guys were in their thirties and it was all working.

[00:44:20] So you mixed that with like I said, like we talked about this literally a year ago, maybe that they started throwing later in the season earlier because he is like this is his system. Right, right. So I hope it works out for him and UCLA. I just don't know like how much longer are you going to do this? Any factor in all this NIL stuff that's going on with right different

[00:45:41] judges. You got federal judges that can that can Raiders running back coach this year before UCLA called him. Yeah. So, so like he, so Eric Bienemey may be, at least for this year, driving the bus a little bit, you know?

[00:47:00] So I think that if I'm someone want to go to all the meetings. I don't want to do all the press conferences. I don't want to come up with the whole thing. I don't want to kiss the babies. I don't want to shake hands. I don't want to do all that. I don't want to do all that stuff. I just want to coach. Right.

[00:48:20] Like Dion, like we talked about Dion.

[00:48:22] Dion is the ultimate showman.

[00:48:24] He's like the greatest showman on some, Right now, you know, their fan duel over under is five and a half. So let me let me go down this schedule for you real quick. All right. You know, let me go down this schedule for you real quick. So UCLA 2024 regular season schedule. Starting out at Hawaii. That should be a win versus Indiana.

[00:49:42] Toss up.

[00:49:43] Should be a win.

[00:49:45] Should be a win. loss at Washington loss home versus USC loss and then they closed with Fresno State at home so three where they play 12 games yeah so three and nine I got I got them like five and seven but you know but yeah like I don't think they're

[00:51:02] going bowling unless they get the exception because there's not enough and I clearly stated everything that was going to go wrong in Washington a year ago. And I'm not even a fan of the team, you are. I'm like, this is what's gonna happen. The owner, people want him gone. All these harassment cases, he and he's gonna go from- Coaches gonna be gone. We do that.

[00:52:20] Ron Rivera, we had Ron Rivera out in 2022. the other cities in the world. Your university is there and the third best state for high school. Player production and you have been mediocre. Yeah, yeah for well over a decade. Yeah, I don't think they sniff 10 wins.

[00:53:44] Chip Kelly that's chip Kelly's best season was non wins and that includes the bowl game. So you hopefully you ain't have to go through that, you know, so you can walk But before we get out of here we wanted to touch on this real quick quick story You know, of course the new nc. Double-a football game is coming out pre-order at game stop is open apparently, you know but uh These players are like hey

[00:55:02] We want to get paid for our name image and likeness. Oh about you know, n-i-m

[00:56:04] He did his two years at an MOS. And then he went to the E-books.

[00:56:06] So now, you know, we've learned that the Air Force,

[00:56:09] Army, Navy football players will be depicted in this game,

[00:56:15] but they will not receive,

[00:56:17] will not receive any of that $600.

[00:56:22] Not that they need it,

[00:56:22] but it's just the principle for me.

[00:57:22] should be able, regardless of all of that, you know what I mean?

[00:57:23] Like you're making money off of my likeness.

[00:57:27] You know, I should receive something,

[00:57:29] which is the whole problem with college sports

[00:57:31] in the first place is that it took us this long

[00:57:34] to get to NIL because they were making all this money

[00:57:37] off the players back that the players weren't seeing.

[00:57:40] And NIL ain't enough.

[00:57:42] Like I know everybody out there is talking about how NIL

[00:57:44] is going to ruin the sport and all that kind of stuff

[00:57:47] like that. Like just y'all can say that email. I got one friend that's thinking about it actually.

[00:59:01] I got a friend that's thinking about it.

[00:59:02] Yeah, they must really miss it.

[00:59:05] Nah, I don't miss it.

[00:59:06] Cause first of all, even So I'm out there trying to snowboard. I'm stretching my neck and my lower spine. I'm getting stretched between my spine. We get off of here, but put the joint on my neck. I got my muscle relaxers, you know what I'm saying? I went to the chiropractor today. He gave me this exercise. He was like, do this. So I'm like, I'll fall it apart.

[01:00:21] So I'm definitely not coming back.

[01:00:23] But yeah, support you.

[01:00:24] Check this out.

[01:00:25] They get paid.

[01:00:26] They get paid every month. That's it. They will acknowledge the tribal chief. You know, but yeah, like... Wait till you retire like me and I sit in my cubicle and I talk for a lot about how stuff sounds stupid. But that's what always upsets me about people that call themselves patriots and things like that. You know what I mean? Like all this stuff applies. Or that I would have joined if I don't want...

[01:01:42] I can't have somebody yelling in my face.

[01:01:44] Wrong spurs. you know, people from not understanding going forward. It's not always the greatest answer. And sometimes you have to make decisions for the masses that maybe someone within that confine could benefit from it. But if everybody can't benefit from it, if I just make, if I just draw this line of the saying,

[01:03:01] say, hey, everybody over six foot five

[01:03:04] can't be a fighter pilot.

[01:03:05] If that's the number, then that's the number.

[01:04:02] about it. You don't say it doesn't matter. It's a change.

[01:04:07] I'm here. What's your opinion? But this is the line.

[01:04:12] You know what? I was, I was, I was listening. I was, I was listening. I argued and everything else when the same,

[01:04:14] since when it came down to what I was like, listen,

[01:04:17] in order for us to get this whole thing accomplished,

[01:04:20] your personal feelings, I don't need.

[01:04:24] The fact of the matter is we at work, it's midnight.

[01:05:22] they want them to have their $600. They'll be out when they get the company based.

[01:05:24] They already can't get NIL.

[01:05:26] They already can't get NIL, like just give them $600.

[01:05:30] Once again, you get to serve your country.

[01:05:32] That is a thing that you signed up for.

[01:05:34] That is the benefit to your existence.

[01:05:38] Hey, you did it.

[01:05:40] You could have not realized it.

[01:05:41] Nothing else on Sports Reports is ordered.

[01:05:44] Listen.

[01:05:44] We boycott Peacock, and we want the hands and kissing the babes. Listen, I'm not advocating for that. All I'm saying is this. When you sign up for something and you know these people are going to have a bit of an autonomy of your existence, I know it can get frustrating. I did it. I did 22 years. And I did.

[01:07:00] I'm still working there now.

[01:07:01] So when they change the schedule from 9 to 3 to 8

[01:07:04] the board.

[01:07:05] So basically, you go and join me when you get a new job.

[01:07:07] That's what's going on here. I'm good to go. I know I know it can get worse. But after we get over this hill, we can evaluate how we had to charge it. But until then, we charge in this hill, and we'll figure out everything else afterwards. For sure. But on that note, y'all, thanks for the support. Like, review, subscribe.

[01:08:22] Off we go into the wild blue yonder.
