[00:02:12] Many Conversation Here So What Exactly Does Week 1 Tell Us So You Know I Think It Depends On The Team Of Course But It Just Depends You Know I Think. Hey UTSA About The Take Over Sam Marcus This Week 1 you know um but what does week one tell us so it just depends on your your frame of mind right

[00:02:36] because if we go back to the other night and we watch new england in seattle we didn't seem very much different than the super bowl sam donald got hurt so that took a lot of things away you know maybe the game was a little less exciting as it went on but i think a lot of the themes still played the same you know new england or seattle secondary sets a tone against new england like

[00:03:02] drake may played outside of himself the other night like a lot of people what he did the other night with the interceptions especially that last one so egregious on that last drive when they could have put the game in overtime or potentially even won the game that was the criticisms of drake may coming out of college personified you know he makes the wrong decision he tries to play playground

[00:03:26] ball too much he puts the ball in danger and it's not even drake may necessarily all the way to blame it's seattle's defense this is what they do this was nothing surprising i picked seattle to win because of that now what i will say is new england didn't take what seattle gave them seattle gave them the opportunity to run the ball especially up the middle ramondre stevenson was having himself a

[00:03:52] night and then new england just abandoned it when they probably should have stuck with it you know and got to overtime at the very least but i don't think i learned anything about new england per se outside of the fact that romeo dobbs didn't earn his paycheck that other night it's a long season we'll see how the season goes but he didn't earn his paycheck on wednesday night fast forwarding to thursday

[00:04:17] you know i don't think we learned a lot about the rams you know because they did the dumb activity of let's go play in australia but we're gonna fly there the day before the game where sacram or i'm sorry i was about to say sacramento san francisco got there and had acclimated themselves got used to the time zone got a certain battle rhythm and they were ready to play football

[00:04:42] and you know and i think san francisco is a good team obviously like they have talent you know they have good coaching but i don't think that game was reflective of a gap that exists between those two teams in that way so you know i think the rams looked very lethargic you know they weren't ready to play you know it's not an excuse either it's just a fact so when i think of an excuse it's if everything

[00:05:10] was created equal and the rams just laid an egg what up mike you know the rams you know are not 18 and 1 19 and 0 team if you were thinking that you were crazy to begin with but i don't think that i take so much away from that game that it makes me think of either team demonstrably differently right like san francisco is gonna be in the mix of fighting for a playoff berth i think the rams are

[00:05:39] going to win that division but you know i just think that these things take time and it's week one right it's the only data point that we have so we're going to overreact we're going to overanalyze because it's all we have to go off of now you know if like for example right if sunday night football we got dallas against the giants which we'll talk about here in a little bit if the giants win that game

[00:06:05] you're going to hear new york is back you know john harbaugh's the man the giants are going to make the playoffs if the cowboys win that game you're going to hear oh the giants are going five and twelve like that's just what happens in week one that's why i don't touch on it that much because i don't necessarily want to get into those conversations of trying to make definitive statements after you

[00:06:32] know those like little bit of data points so now with no further ado before we get into the games this week i owe y'all something you know mr logical and i spent the summer previewing giving you all the data for these divisions picking who's going to win the division who's going to make the playoffs and all that kind of stuff it's my turn to tell you who's going to the super bowl in my mind so i'm gonna

[00:06:58] go ahead and save the nfc team for a second because i got to lead into that because i shocked myself with that one but um in the afc um there were a couple of contenders that i was looking at it's easy to look at buffalo in baltimore right but i think for the most part those windows are closed i think that baltimore had their best shot about two or three years ago when they lost that playoff game up in

[00:07:25] orchard park you know and me and mike had many arguments about that game you know we blame everybody but lamar jackson even though he was the one that threw the pick receiver ran the wrong route but he threw the pick you know the fumble that gave buffalo a field goal in the second quarter you know so but i think that baltimore is just aging now and they still have good players like roquan smith kyle hamilton but they're getting older but that offensive line still has a lot of questions for me

[00:07:55] you know and and of course they're going to get better as the season goes along right because with practice comes application so they're going to improve as the year goes on but are they going to be able to get off to the type of start that'll offset that because i'm at the point where i don't know and i don't mean no disrespect i'm just telling you what i see i don't know if i could trust lamar jackson to go to say denver and win a playoff game you know i don't know if i could trust lamar jackson

[00:08:25] to go up to say new england and win a playoff game not to say that he can't but i just need more i need to see more before i can definitively feel that way when it comes to buffalo you know sean mcdermott i was a big proponent of get him out of here he's done in this town right but it wasn't because he's a bad coach it wasn't because you know he you know did something wrong per se

[00:08:53] but some coaches just lack a certain thing you know and i go back to say cover your ears mike you know when i look at somebody like jim harbaugh right and i and the only reason i picked on that was because mike's in the comments and you know saying and and by the way y'all need to be checking out the one mike podcast it's back so get your independent news don't be listening to this mainstream garbage but you know but when i thought about uh the chargers because of jim harbaugh

[00:09:23] you know he does enough and he is a great enough coach that i feel like he can go to almost any team and turn them around like if you gave jim harbaugh the titans right now for example i think they would win the afc south within two years or at least be at that pinnacle of being on the verge of it whereas you know the titans as is might be four years away right now you know so i'm not so so

[00:09:50] when i think about jim harbaugh he does these things like the structure you know you got to win in the trenches you know what i mean because of course you know they last year they lost three offensive linemen before the season even started and they still win 11 and 6 there's not many coaches that can pull that off sean mcdermott's not one of those coaches sean mcdermott had a mvp quarterback you know before

[00:10:16] that quarterback got to the point of winning mvps buffalo was perennially one of the top four or five defenses in the league now you know what i mean injuries you know attrition time age all those things made buffalo's defense a little worse and then of course you had to pay the quarterback that's why you got to win early you know because once you pay the quarterback it gets that much harder because

[00:10:42] the money isn't there to give out and give around that's why a lot of people were upset at cincinnati for paying t higgins after they paid joe burrow because it's like well what you're gonna do on defense and we saw what they did on defense they were awful you know so buffalo got to a point where they were just predictable and guys like jim harbaugh and sean mcdermott they are the way that they are

[00:11:06] because they're creatures of they're creatures of habit so they're not going to deviate and you heard mr logical the other night i asked him what does the chargers have to do to get over the hump and he said they got to stop when they play a team like kansas city you know sometimes you just got to take the points you know when you're playing a team like the texans you got to throw a little more screen pass you know so there's different things that you have to add into your elements depending on your

[00:11:34] opponent so i think that sean mcdermott got to the point where it was just easy to figure him out and i'll talk about this a little bit more with statistics and everything because you know what i do you know but like everybody looks at kansas city you know what i mean as buffalo's undertaker you know pop up from the dead choke slam you win the type no the texans are the ones that beat the hell out of

[00:12:00] the bills the texans are the monster in the closet when it comes to the buffalo bills who they just happen to be playing week one but i'll get to that in a little bit so when i looked at the afc you know i eliminated kansas city because i feel like they lost too much on defense for me to actually get there with them obviously they have the experience when you get to a playoff situation there's not many people you're going to run into that you could trust more than a patrick mahomes for example

[00:12:28] because he's been there he's made the plays he keeps things alive with his feet without having to try to be lamar jackson and take over the game with his legs but i just feel like they lost a lot you know i keep clowning mike about the chargers but it's not a bad pick it's not a bad pick you know i just don't think that they're there just yet i think they need another receiver you know like a big time receiver if you will you know i think that they need some um some more

[00:12:55] you know in the linebacker room a little bit more depth and you know maybe another piece in the secondary and that's but the chargers are right there so so when i say the chargers aren't going to make the super bowl it's not because i think of them as this bad team right i just think that they're still missing a few requisite parts that they need to take that kind of leap so then you know i looked at the bangles you know they got their defense shored up now at least player wise personnel

[00:13:24] wise of course we're going to have to see it in execution to be able to make more definitive judgments right so i went with the denver broncos to represent the afc in the super bowl because you know bo nix has some of that patrick mahomes in him now they're not alike i'm not saying that they're the same player i'm not saying bo nix is as good as patrick mahomes i did not say those

[00:13:47] words don't clip that and try to lie on me what i said was he keeps plays alive he makes plays when when everything is against the wall and you don't think that you're going to survive he will grind it out he will find a way whatever means necessary baker mayfield's a lot a lot like that but you know what i mean we'll get yeah not tampa anyway you know what i mean so so then you have the defense i

[00:14:16] know jonathan cooper suspended right now so we'll see we'll have or at least he's on the commissioner um not you know exempt list so we'll have to see when he comes back but i think that their defense has enough they have the best secondary in the nfl in my opinion hands down to include you know ps2 who just two years ago won defensive player of the year you know jody baron couldn't even get on the field because they have so much talent you know and then you know um you you know riley moss you know hopefully

[00:14:46] he won't get as many pass interference calls they got hafunga back there still my guy nick benito up front like denver is a force to be reckoned with and i actually would like to pick the texans to go to the super bowl but i just can't because when cj stroud gets in the snow or he gets in the cold he wilts so until i see otherwise i just can't trust that jacksonville i feel like they're going

[00:15:11] to regress just because they didn't make enough you know they didn't add anything they lost devon lloyd who was the point of their defense right it would be sort of like the warriors losing draymond green that's the way that i think of that and i know that's a little hyperbole but i'm just trying to get you to understand my point so i look at it that way okay so i'm gonna go with the denver broncos so then in the nfc it'd be easy to say the rams like everybody else but i'm not going to say the

[00:15:40] rams like everybody else i do think that they win the west but matthew stafford's another year older you know we'll have to see a little bit more data there you know they have the defense now they mike likes to say you know well hey they got the names and they do you know because i i see it as they had a very distinct weakness last year and they addressed it now we'll just have to see if it

[00:16:05] works so the rams had everything you could ask for last year but the secondary so they went out and got jalen watson and trent mcduffie you know two guys that you know played on the same team together at that so they at least come with some camaraderie and some idea of how the other plays so i like that you know what i mean you know they got they went and got miles gerd who didn't show up in australia

[00:16:30] last night but i think we'll see him obviously as the season goes on and then once he gets rolling that defense is going to be something to deal with you know on the other side of the ball the rams have to run the ball more you know they were running over the 49ers last night and then they got stuck behind you know when they fell behind they just got into catch-up mode and just never balanced it back out so you know but sean mcveigh is a good enough coach that that'll get fixed some of those things will get

[00:16:58] fixed and you know we'll see that going forward um seattle you know what i mean i don't know about seattle you know their offense is still going to be a little tricky now you got sam donald out for you know a little while but even with sam donald i don't know how consistent their offense can be kenneth walker was the super bowl mvp by the way so losing him and i know i love jerry and price you know what i mean but that doesn't mean that he's just all of a sudden going to come into the

[00:17:26] league and run for 1500 yards or something like that charbonnet is going to have to work himself back in at some point touchdown kansas on a block field goal return by the way border war hashtag all that but san francisco i gotta see the health um a lot of people are loving the chicago bears i'm not in love with their defense you know i'm not in love with some of the what i perceive to be

[00:17:52] luck that they had last year nfc east you know i can't pick the cowboys you know look at the eagles you know i think the eagles have an opportunity to get to the super bowl but it's just going to depend on i need to see what the distribution share is because now aj brown not there slim reaper is the number one option how many is this going to be one of those situations where you know jalen hurts

[00:18:20] has 16 completions and davante smith has nine receptions and then everybody else has one or two sprinkled throughout the rest of the roster is that what we're going to see because if so then they're not going to the super bowl so in a crazy pick you know saying this is me being a hypocrite because mike picked the chargers to go to the super bowl i can't even say it i can't even

[00:18:45] say it i'm picking the detroit lions to go to the super bowl so i'm picking the denver broncos over the detroit lions that's my super bowl but let's get more into this week one thing so you know let's take it from the top buffalo and houston i talked about this a few minutes ago kansas city is the team that's viewed as the hump that buffalo can't get over and obviously that's true because josh allen hasn't

[00:19:13] beaten them in the playoffs yet but he has beaten kansas city in the regular season a few times you know when buffalo plays against kansas city they don't generally lose to kansas city because josh allen doesn't play well a lot of the times they even put up 30 plus points they just lose but the texans are a whole different animal when it comes to the buffalo bills and this predates josh

[00:19:40] allen since the texans came back in the nfl since they came back in the nfl buffalo was just awful awful at that place yes the lions you know saying you ain't sharing i ain't sharing i'm gonna put it like that you know what i mean uh buffalo has lost their last six games against the houston texans since you know we want to do that like i said that goes back pre josh allen so since josh allen has

[00:20:10] been in the league oh and four josh allen is with demiko ryan's as the head coach of the texans appreciate you with demiko ryan's as the head coach of the texans josh allen is oh and two okay he lost two games that ain't nothing you ain't saying nothing too five but you know what i am saying he had a 51.6

[00:20:34] completion percentage in those two games 384 yards one touchdowns one touchdown two interceptions and he was sacked nine times including a game where he went nine for 30 nine for 30 that is not an alan iverson stat that is josh allen against the houston texans you know what i mean um so the last five

[00:21:00] games if i want to extrapolate it even further his completion percentage against the houston texans is below 60 in three of those contests okay so what am i saying here i'm saying give james cook the damn ball because even if we go back last year he had a long touchdown run against the texans and then you didn't even see him the rest of the game and that was a common theme throughout the bills seasons you

[00:21:29] know and how they were failing and and this is where i need to see sean mcdermott's out the building now joe brady was the offensive coordinator so now let's see how much of that was mcdermott and how much of that is brady now we know brady from lsu you know joe burrow national title all those things but now you're in the main chair it's your decision now so if james cook ain't getting the ball i'm

[00:21:57] coming to you before i came to mcdermott now it's your turn to give james cook the ball and if you don't give james cook the ball all that tells me is you don't want to win and you don't say and if you don't want to give it to james cook 25 times give it to ray davis the point is you gotta have balance because we've gotten so quarterback centric that we look at these games and we just say throw us to

[00:22:21] victory you don't have to you got james cook now put up a shut up time for cj stroud you know what i mean um it's not i would i wouldn't be practical if i said hey you know what if the texas want to win this game cj stroud needs to outdo josh allen you don't say like what where they do that at

[00:22:45] where they do that at you don't say he's not gonna outdo josh allen but like i said he doesn't have to he just has to make enough smart plays and not give buffalo extra possessions because remember buffalo was at near the bottom of the league in rush defense last year you know what the texans went and did they went and got david montgomery so now you have a bona fide threat at running back

[00:23:09] you're not running out nick the ghost of nick chubb anymore so they should be able to control the clock and maybe even keep buffalo off the field a little bit you know saying you know the pass rush is coming you know so that's where i need to see some of these quick screens quick outs maybe see some shakir they have dj more now get them out in the flats give them room to break or to make jukes and

[00:23:33] you know make moves to get extra yards because what happens is josh allen gets into what i like to call donovan mcnab brain you know he takes the snap there you go 5.25 yards per carry you know um he gets into josh i mean donovan mcnab brain where he takes the snap and he literally just waits like he's watching the sunset the beautiful sky no darkness but it's just all turning colors now

[00:24:03] and somebody's going to be open 30 yards down the field not against the texans because as much as i love the broncos secondary as much as i love new england secondary seattle houston's right up there with them and that's why i said i would love to pick you know the texans to go to the super bowl but i just can't trust their offense enough you know i think um i think keon coleman will have a better year as

[00:24:28] well you know because like this these are the things that we're going to get the answer to was it a lot of sean mcdermott you know just having him in the doghouse and now you know you're joe brady coming in there as the offensive coordinator and you're like i got a weapon i'm gonna use it so we're gonna see what happens on sunday you know um buffalo and back to the run defense last season out of the whole

[00:24:54] nfl they gave up the most yards before contact you know what i mean and i'm not trying to talk to y'all like y'all stupid right but if y'all don't know what that means that means that the quarterback gave the running back the ball and he probably had three to four yards before buffalo even touched him you know saying you ain't winning nothing like that you know saying so now if you're houston

[00:25:18] i'm 12 personnel you know two tight ends on the field more than not you might even see some 13 out of me you know saying even on like a third and five i might run a draw play you know i might hand the ball off go counter to the strong side or something along those lines but i'm gonna make buffalo prove that they can stop the run you know saying so how healthy is bradley chubb let's find out so i'm

[00:25:47] gonna go with the houston texans to win this game um i think it's gonna be not necessarily one of those 10 to 9 type games but i'm gonna call it 23 20 i think buffalo will play better because if nothing else against houston they have if nothing else they have film of houston right they should know what to expect they know what their weaknesses are against houston and i think dj moore actually

[00:26:10] goes a long way into helping that he makes everybody else's job easier with his presence so sunday night football i brought it up cowboys and giants you know all right mike here's some more numbers for you if you're the giants you don't want to play this game you just don't so the cowboys have won 16 out

[00:26:35] of the last 18 against the giants not only that all time all time in season opening matchups dallas is 11 and 1 against the giants i said all time 11 and 1 against the giants those are not numbers that you want to see now the giants got their reinforcements back you know

[00:26:59] malik neighbors but we got to see how he looks right you know like he is he gonna be able in game one to recapture some of the magic that he had during his rookie year cam scadaboo we just got reports what this week a couple days ago about him contemplating retirement after he got hurt so where's his mind right now you know what i mean is he ready for the task at hand you know and it's

[00:27:27] easy to look at the dallas cowboys and say oh that defense is putrid i saw that last year and you know what they did they went out and did some things they got rid of eber floose you know they they went and got malachi lawrence in the draft you know somebody that could get after the passer you know they went and got caleb downs my favorite player in the draft so like the cowboys have addressed some things and i don't know if the giants can expose them anyway because when we go back to jackson dart and granted

[00:27:55] right brian dayball may not be a great head coach but we can't act like brian dayball didn't have josh allen playing the best year of his career before that before he won that mvp we can't act like he didn't have a playoff run or you know make the playoffs and win a playoff game with daniel jones so i say that to say

[00:28:25] brian dayball couldn't get the passing game going with jackson dart last year and of course part of that was the injuries right you know neighbors was out you know all that but now you know darius slayton's gone what's jalen hyatt up to these days is you know what's he gonna do they had to dig into the crates push the bones to the side move the treasure keep digging and they found an odell beckham

[00:28:52] so and and look i don't mean no disrespect to odell beckham right like he was great in his heyday but at this stage when you're digging in the grave to get an odell beckham out that tells me how awful your receiver room is outside of malik neighbors so you can't even take advantage of what of the cowboys weakness to begin with you can't take advantage of the secondary you know now now you know harbaugh is going to bring in the run game greg roman

[00:29:21] you know and never mind i'm not even going to go there jackson dart did lead all rookies last year with touchdowns he had the second most rushing touchdowns you know for um a rookie quarterback behind cam newton so that's his game but that game also gets him knocked out there's been times during this off season where we've been hearing about

[00:29:47] jackson dart getting hit in practice he don't learn his lesson he's still young he thinks he's invincible he ain't been hit by the right person yet so dallas's defense is going to be improved now where the giants might have an opening to steal this game is tyler smith being out that's going to be a huge loss for the cowboys you know what i mean because all they did was add arville reese you know in the offseason abdul carter year two and i know a lot of

[00:30:15] people were a little disappointed in him last year the sack numbers didn't look the way that people expected but he was still third or fourth in defensive rookie of the year so like he still had a great season he blocked a punt in his first game so you know he's going to get after it you know uh they still have tibodeau dexter lawrence is gone but they still got brian burns

[00:30:37] so now this is where a coach you know um dallas can just exploit through the short game that i was just talking about with buffalo a screen here a dig there a curl you know just these little routes that get the defense to back up just a little bit because you're coming at them so fast but dallas is going to have to emphasize the run to keep that defense honest javante williams had a great year last year

[00:31:06] especially you know coming off of the year that he had following the injury so the giants on the other hand that secondary right they're going to wish they had cordell flott in this game you know they're starting deontay banks on one side that's the side i'm throwing at and i'm sorry you know i know you know he went to maryland and everything but i just got to call it like i see it dallas is going to be able if they can get time you know like i said tyler smith out

[00:31:34] but if dallas can give that just slight protection he's going to carve the giants apart so the giants path to victory in this game is a shootout and i don't think they're equipped to go toe-to-toe with dallas in that way so give me the cowboys to win this game 31 to 20 keeping it in the nfc east you got the commanders

[00:32:00] going to philly philly all right so what's the key here the key here is you got a new offensive coordinator against a new defensive coordinator so you got sean mannion coming in from green bay and minnesota over to the uh eagles and you got deronte jones who came from under brian flores so what does that say to me

[00:32:24] that you might see some blitzing now i don't know and i know this is kind of counter you know intuitive to what a lot of you think but i don't know if jalen hurts is the guy that you want to blitz like i think jalen hurts is the kind of guy that you want to make read the field you want him to go through the progressions you want him to have to make decisions you you know and you might even that might burn you a few times because he'll take off and run but i think that if you just let him throw it up

[00:32:53] you take the pressure off of him because from watching jalen hurts over the years i'm not a jalen hurts critic but from watching him over the years he seems to work better on the fly he seems to work better when he doesn't have to process he can just go hut one hut two boom get it out of there and you know with a guy like devontae smith you know you got your deep threat going up against washington secondary who leaves a lot to be desired

[00:33:21] i like mike sanistrille i like trey amos we just got to get it together right just got to get it together you know washington spent some time with these linebackers in the off season leo chanel's over from kansas city you know sunny styles you know from ohio state so but they got this is week one and you're going up against the eagles in their offensive line which is probably one of the best offensive lines in the league if not the best

[00:33:50] then there's this other guy i don't know if you remember him because we didn't talk about him much last year but two years ago he ran for 2 000 yards he had a chance to break eric dickerson's record but they didn't play him in week 17 he goes by the name of saquon barkley without aj brown they're going to re-emphasize saquon barkley why is that important for this game because in his career against washington against my commanders

[00:34:20] saquon barkley averages 102 yards per game on 5.5 yards per carry so keep it simple stupid run the ball throw when you have to but run the ball so jayden daniels looking for a bounce back you know last year was a tumultuous year for him got hurt early came back you know had that gruesome injury on sunday night football against seattle like that's one of those injuries that you're like whoa

[00:34:49] like i'm surprised he doesn't have to be out longer you know what i mean but he's here but guess what the same issues that washington had when he was playing are the issues that washington have now offensive line injuries last year it was biadish you know last year last year you know our rookie came in hurt you know sam but now you got laramie tunzel out out he'll be back this season but he ain't gonna be back for this game

[00:35:19] and we need him for this game okay you know um i know i know you're not supposed to look at preseason as a be-all end-all you're not supposed to use it as a barometer of things to come you know we've seen teams lose all their preseason games and you know make the playoffs you know we've seen teams win all their preseason games and go winless so

[00:35:47] preseason's not the be-all end-all but there are some things that you can find and you know and of course you gotta find out like what's true and what's not because the starters don't always play but what i saw in preseason from washington is two very bad things for an nfl team they can't stop the run and they can't run those aren't those aren't two things that you want to do new system with jaden daniels under center

[00:36:14] how long is that going to last against this team don't forget jalen carter's over there don't forget jihad campbell's over there you already got quintanamo bay in the secondary so like it's not going to be easy you know is granara going to be there like it's not going to be easy so i don't know if washington can stick to keeping uh jaden daniels under center for the entirety of the game so with that being said give me the eagles you know saying

[00:36:44] i'm gonna go 31-17 two score game um this game this next game you know and i'm gonna say this i said this last year about the dolphins you know but i'm a big wrestling fan right and growing up one of the favorite matches was the loser leaves town match so now we're at this point where you got two coaches that are on the hot seat whether they know it or not going up against each other in week one so going back to my original question

[00:37:13] that started this pod what can you take away from week one well we might find out because you got the tampa bay buccaneers going to the cincinnati bangles you know todd bowles i'm surprised that he didn't get fired last year they fell apart at the end of the season injuries be damned but they fell apart he got in the press conference throwing players under the bus throwing teams under the bus you know and i just you know what i mean i don't know it was just one of those things where you know

[00:37:43] the writing was on the wall then you come into the off season with vita vea and baker mayfield having contract disputes both of those are worked out now you know but the baker on the baker side it just got worked out okay on the cincinnati bangles side it's a story as old as the tale of time where's joe burrow a lot of times he's in street clothes you know shout out to anthony davis you know but the bangles are a team

[00:38:13] that probably could have made another super bowl if burrow was healthy because that offense is legit you know you saw what jamar chase did last time him and burrow had a full season together so you know last year they had joe flacco come in admirably you know after jake browning browning couldn't get the job done but joe burrow is back for now so why am i not so happy for cincinnati then because joe burrow

[00:38:42] in his career and look i'm not a quarterback record guy but i know a lot of you guys do the quarterback record thing so i'm just giving you information right joe burrow is two and four in his career in week one five touchdowns five interceptions now most of those interceptions happened in that one game against the steelers a couple of you i know y'all remember that but not only joe burrow right this is a cincinnati thing cincinnati is three and seven

[00:39:12] in their last ten home openers huh but this matchup is firepower versus firepower you know jaden mcmillan's back for tampa he missed last year with that neck injury that he had in the preseason against the steelers emeka abuka started with a spark you know at the end of the year like i said things fell apart you know bucky irvin he he's not james cook but tampa gets into a habit of not involving him enough you know

[00:39:42] sometimes they pass it to him a lot but he doesn't always get the number of carries that i feel he should get you know saying i expect cincinnati to blitz early and often i think they're gonna look a lot like tampa actually because the running joke on sports reports is ordered is the buccaneer defense is sammy sosa it's either a home run or a strikeout so they're either gonna sack you or you're gonna burn them i think cincinnati's gonna employ that you know

[00:40:11] now that they have dexter lawrence you know and and and now that they are putting more of an emphasis on their defense their secondary's improved i think tampa's secondary's gonna be good down the road you know down the road benjamin morrison i ain't gonna call him awful didn't have a good rookie year you know my guy mccallum just fell apart last year you know he got paid and then i guess he turned into a pumpkin

[00:40:41] you know so the key for cincinnati here is chase brown it's easy to throw the ball to jamar chase t higgins gusecki all the weapons right but chase brown is is the straw that stirs that drink because when he's going and not even just on the ground but even catching passes out of the backfield that's when cincinnati gets very dangerous and i've said it like i picked them to win the the north this year

[00:41:10] so you know i think that if their defense can just be you know 15th in the league versus 26th or 27th that opens up a whole new world for the bangles you know tampa still needs to show up the tight end but i think this is going to be a good back and forth game i'm going with the bangles 27 to 24 so i think that todd bowles is going to start the season

[00:41:39] feeling more of that heat you know there's certain games on this schedule and you know in the nfc west i'm sorry nfc south that tampa's going to have to steal if they want to win the division this might be one of them all right so i'm gonna call this game who do you trust the least who do you trust the least it's an nfc north battle emanating from the great city of minneapolis

[00:42:08] the green bay packers are coming to knocking to the minnesota vikings we already know josh jacobs is out he's you know he's on that exempt list so you got caleb johnson who they just picked up from the steelers last week marshawn lloyd and chris brooks of those three running backs that i just named chris brooks is the only one that has a hundred carries in his career okay and you're also

[00:42:38] talking about not just running the ball but we're talking about a brian flores defense so you're gonna have to block you know to survive this game because he's gonna send the heat after jordan love you know christian watson is healthy you know we'll see how long that lasts you know matthew golden is this gonna be the breakout year you know i think that he has all the talent in the world but green bay had a crowded receiver room

[00:43:07] you know the tavian wicks is in philly down dobbs is in new england so there's a little bit more on the plate for matthew golden so to speak but you gotta have time to throw the ball on the other side of the ball green bay didn't win a game once michael parsons got hurt last year not one and you know so green bay is one of those bend but not break defenses

[00:43:37] they don't necessarily have players that stand out as far as being stars with michael parsons out of course so what's interesting about this game for me though and i don't know if i've heard anybody say this but it hit me as i was just talking i didn't have this in my notes but it just hit

[00:44:25] me road that's where we are this weekend so jordan love does well against the blitz generally speaking but in the concept of this game third and five is a lot different than third eight you should stay away from that i think minnesota will be able to run the ball against green bay now aaron jones is a little bit older but i love roger mason and if you were watching sports reports disorder during the nfl draft you know how i feel about damon claiborne

[00:44:55] i don't know how much of him we'll see this early in the season but keep your eye on him in the future you know i think that this game is going to come down to the wire as well because i think matt lafleur is a good enough coach that he'll be able to scheme and adjust certain things now this is the other part of that matt lafleur might be entering this season coaching for his job you know last year he came in and there was a lot of hot seat talk they got off to the great start

[00:45:24] before michael parsons got hurt then he didn't win another game he lost twice to the bears to include the playoff game there's a lot riding on games like this there's a lot so is lafleur gonna press you know is jordan love gonna press i'm gonna take minnesota and a nail biter you know um i think you know this is gonna be along the lines of say 24 21

[00:45:54] you know um and you know kyler mary is gonna emphasize justin jefferson because remember last year me and mr logical gave him hell because he said it wasn't his job to get mhj the ball that it absolutely was his job to do that well justin jefferson's coming in to this season off of last year where he had his career low in yards yards per catch and if you blink you missed him scoring a touchdown last year because he only had two

[00:46:25] so i expect a lot of justin jefferson in this game and i think that's gonna be enough lions and saints you know i've seen the saints as a trendy pick to win the south um this is gonna be a tough one going up the forward field to start the year no jordan tyson you know i was looking forward to seeing him you know um in week one he's another guy that stays injured you know chris alave hopefully he can stay healthy this year but what i'm interested in is travis etn he came over from jacksonville

[00:46:54] been underrated you know like travis etn's been putting some good seasons together but people only talk about the quarterback so all you heard was trevor lawrence trevor lawrence trevor lawrence and then when they weren't talking about trevor lawrence they drafted travis hunter then btj byron thomas jr started dropping all the passes so you started hearing about everything but travis etn don't sleep so jameer gibbs is all up to you now david montgomery is in houston like i mentioned earlier isaiah

[00:47:23] pacheco is out you know but they got justin jackson and sione vacchi go utes you know to fill those gaps you know to spell jameer gibbs the one thing that i think the lions might be missing is that third receiver you know that reliable receiver you know because jameson williams is going to be a deep threat amon raw is going to take all the short stuff the distance you know and obviously you have sam laporta but i think

[00:47:53] they need one more receiver like that jaden mcmillan kind of guy you know say that jaden reed kind of guy maybe and i think that you know this game isn't going to expose that because i think the saints defense is strong up front and i think they're going to suffer from the loss of demario davis so i think the lions should have success running the ball and not have to do too much i think that the saints are going to have to play

[00:48:23] balance because they can't win a shootout with detroit you know maybe if it was at the house of horrors which is what i call the superdome but you know i think that detroit wins this game rather easily so i'm gonna call this game 34 to 14 upset of the week yes it's not just college football we got nfl upsets too because i've been seeing this team get all the love i've been seeing people say that caleb williams is on his way to an mvp season

[00:48:51] you know i think that people forget how many close games the bears played last year how many games they needed heroics in last year so it's one thing to win close games right that's a good trait to have ask the chiefs you know ask the broncos last year those are good traits to have the problem is is when you gotta win a close game because your start is so slow you know what i mean because

[00:49:21] you're down 21 to 10 and now you gotta rely on your defense to get turnovers get the ball back for you because all those people that was getting turnovers for the bears are gone they're gone you know brisker's gone you know byard's gone you know so that back end is gonna look a little crazy the good news for the bears is that i don't know if bryce young can take advantage of

[00:49:50] it you know in his career he averages 180 yards per game 180 yards so you know this game is gonna be which defense plays better you know carolina has a sneaky good secondary with uh jackson and jc horn very sneaky good secondary horns the play maker so we'll i'm sure he'll get the matchup you know the luther burden you know or

[00:50:19] roma dunze whichever one is going off that's what you're gonna do um the bears do have colston loveland which opens up a lot because the carolina panthers struggled against tight ends last year you know every team has some kind of achilles heel some kind of weakness and for the carolina panthers it was the tight end as a florida state fan trust me i know what that looks like so i expect colston loveland to have a big game you know maybe if they involve you know commit and you know i got 14 seven jayhawks

[00:50:49] um kyle gordon kyler gordon is on the uh pup list so he won't be there kobe bryant underwent surgery he won't be there so tetaro mcmillan should find a little bit more room than you would normally think to operate now the question is who's going to come with him jalen coker's been playing well the last couple of years we're finally going to see jonathan brooks you know it sounds like he's going to get a lot of the

[00:51:19] share with uh chuva hubbard so i'm excited to see that i had high hopes for him coming out of texas but um this is this is a now and ever type game for the panthers you know last year they had these odd games where they played the rams and you know they uh you know played the hell out of the rams you know beat them in the regular season if i remember correctly and then pushed them right to the wire in the playoffs and don't forget they

[00:51:49] went they went up and beat green bay too so carolina last year was their year to learn how to win this is how you do it son watch build the habits this is your foundation this year show me what you learned so i'm going with the panthers in an upset here over the bears 27 21 a game that up until this morning i felt pretty good about my prediction now i

[00:52:19] don't know so much um now it's a sensitive topic because you know i grew up in the great city of baltimore we had a team once upon a time called the baltimore colts i agree mike you know saying and that's why that's part of the reason why i like pittsburgh this year is rico doddle um you know the mayflower the colts leaving in the middle of the night to go to the middle of indiana bears fans i feel your pain

[00:52:49] um but whenever the colts play baltimore i'm trying to tell you like baltimore like they take it personal even after all these years the colts are six and one all time against the ravens um you know uh baltimore is going to aim to control the clock i think they can but where i have problems is is i can't get the colts out of my head at the start of last year eight and two before

[00:53:19] nanny nichols got hurt jonathan taylor was on his way to two thousand yards easy you know what i mean so i expect to see a lot of him where it's going to be interesting though is the receiver room you know because alec pierce is going to be taking that number one um that number one receiver role now that pitman is in pittsburgh you know josh downs can he stay healthy because i think you can spread baltimore out you know

[00:53:48] like baltimore is predicated on speed but i think that they could have the colts can have success by spreading baltimore out and running at them you know um conversely um grover stewart and deforce buckner for the colts they might have a pretty easy time you know um baltimore has two new starters on the um offensive line so yeah that's my guy man caleb downs i love him he just i mean josh downs you know i love both

[00:54:18] the downs how about that you know but um yeah so so so baltimore should win this game they should but i'm just i'm just not so convinced that they will you know like when i think back to last year baltimore started off the season rough you know lamar jackson got hurt early they lost that game up in buffalo on a sunday night you know where they blew the fourth quarter lead and the one thing that's weird about

[00:54:48] the ravens especially now that we're here in 2026 the one thing that you would have never said about the ravens prior to say 2024 is that they weren't running the ball enough now this is how much they weren't running the ball because derrick henry that same year that saquon ran for 2000 derrick henry ran for 1911 yards and he still didn't get the ball enough so that's where now i'm kind of looking at the ravens and i'm going

[00:55:18] is this who you are now maybe not because now they have jesse mentor as their head coach who is coming in off of that harbaugh tree jim harbaugh so you might see some of those elements even though you know they have the young offensive coordinator younger than lamar jackson by the way so maybe the ravens are a little bit more innovative now that's what we're going to find out on sunday you know because i think the colts are the right team

[00:55:47] to try this stuff out against now the colt secondary is intact cam bynum you know trevarius ward as mike would say soy sauce you know they're they're all back so i think this is going to be low key one of the games of the day you know shane shane steichen i think is a good coach but he's got to make the playoffs this year and i think he knows that um i don't know if the ravens are the type of team you want to play coming off

[00:56:48] is he's going to surmount jalen warren and you know take over that job you know as rb1 um the thing that might keep this game a little close is preseason because because these guys don't um play during the preseason so you know you got michael pitman in there you know dk you know am i going to see a little more from roman wilson this year you know um so so the

[00:57:17] steelers have a lot to prove on offense i think you know what i mean but now they have an offensive head coach because mike tomlin he was running stone age stuff and me and mr logical mr logical and i got into an argument a couple of weeks ago about arthur smith and you know how he was the one sabotaging you know the steelers with his play calling and all i said to that was who hired him now you got an offensive guy in there not just the offensive guy offensive guy

[00:57:47] that knew aaron rogers and i know it didn't end the best between those two in green bay but we know what they're capable of and i know this ain't the same aaron rogers so i'm not even making that argument but i think that mike mccarthy is the type of coach that can build an offense around a quarterback you know what i mean i think that he can take what aaron rogers strengths are and amplify them while suppressing his weaknesses that's what i think he brings to the table

[00:58:47] browns defense doing enough because it's you know people are going to look at them and they're going to say oh miles garrett the defense has got to fall back some okay i'll grant you that i'll grant you that but let's play the batting game let's say that the browns defense was ranked to 89 with uh miles garrett i'm ranking to the 87 now it's not dropping to a

[00:59:47] now you know trevor lawrence you know coming off the gear that he had last year we're gonna have to see btj right i just talked about him dropping passes parker washington coming off a career year jacoby myers jacksonville has weapons and if they were playing most deshaun watson he still looks like the injury happened

[01:00:47] but i think that trevor lawrence is going to pick apart the browns as i like to call it death by a thousand paper cuts um can jacksonville run the ball that might be what keeps cleveland in this game because i mentioned etn's gone you know i love bashal to you know they got chris rodriguez from washington who you look at his yards per carry and he looks like he could be a monster but you don't see the volume so you know he might be getting more of

[01:01:16] a share of the carries than he was getting prior and we're going to find out if there's something there or not so i think that lack of ability to run the ball is going to give cleveland an early window to try to win this game but i think they just don't have enough offense but what i am looking forward to is i want to see these crossing routes because now you got casey concepcion you got denzel boston two of my favorite receivers from college football last year how do you utilize them

[01:01:46] right i think that dylan sampson should have a good game here out of the you know catching out of the back field as well i just want to see how todd munkin settles in as a head coach i think that this game is going to be close and i think jacksonville scores a touchdown late and just sits on the ball so give me 23 13 jags and the board of war is at halftime right now 14 14 as it should be because you know

[01:02:46] yeah uva is up 52 52 to three last i looked um so the titans i think are a year away i look across their roster and i see good players you know i see players that should make impact especially i see in this particular game i see former jets jermaine johnson franklin myers i know he played with denver last year but he's a former jet nonetheless you know you got sala

[01:03:17] you know his former team that he was the head coach of there's a lot of incentive for tennessee to win this game the question what is tony pollard at this point what is tajay spears at this point i like i like tajay spears a lot but he's been hurt and i just don't know you know what's crazy and don't start with me mike don't start with me i just gotta say it is geno smith the best

[01:03:46] quarterback that garrick wilson's had in his young career think about that for a second so um aaron glenn i think is coaching for his job i know it's early but if the jet start off say three and six so you gotta win these games they got a game against cleveland as well you gotta win these games you know what i mean um what is geno smith because last year you know they had you could easily

[01:04:16] blame pete carroll who had been away for a while came back as a head coach maybe the game passed them by maybe they just it was just the wrong fit you had chip kelly who they say was running plays in game that they didn't even run in practice you know like i don't even know like how you even get away with that why are you like this so i think that the jets have a chance here to start off the season the right way i think their defensive line is gonna maul

[01:04:46] tennessee's defensive line i mean offensive line i think that tennessee's offensive line will be much improved but i think that stuff takes a few weeks to gel so by the time we get to week four week five tennessee might look like what they're going to be but my struggle with tennessee in this game and beyond is the malpractice of brian callahan you know you saw will levis come in with all this talent he's gone you know cam ward last year was fighting for his life

[01:05:16] you know so i remember that r kelly interview with gail king you know he's fighting for his life and when i look at that bad habits develop especially in a young quarterback that i already had questions about anyway because when he was at miami in college it just seemed like he relied so much on the big play whether that was with his legs whether you know he kept plays a lot running sideline to sideline to get off that dump pass but that doesn't work in the nfl

[01:05:45] i don't think he's going to have that type of time this weekend against the jets to do those things so i'm going to take the jets here low scoring game close game 1914 cardinals chargers what you want me to say i hope jeremiah loves play i hope he plays let's go with that i think arizona's defense does have the possibility to be better than expected better than advertised year two of will johnson walter nolan you know

[01:06:16] sweat you know so i think arizona has talent on their defense but mike mcdaniel's just going to call run after run and just run down their throat this weekend dolphins and raiders another one of those games where you flip a coin right two new coaches you know jeff halfley and clint kubiak and how nice for it to be defensive versus offensive respectively two new quarterbacks you know kirk cousins in for the raiders

[01:06:45] and malik willis and for the dolphins okay brock bowers is out but i don't think that's the end of the road you know um i think michael myer is a good replacement you know just for a few weeks so i don't think they lose much against the dolphins but what's going to be the trouble is how healthy is ashton gent gent is he going to be able to run the ball like his ankle is he going to play

[01:07:16] um the dolphins if nothing else they have a chad so i guess it just depends on how much you want to trust malik willis he looked great clean up for green bay last year behind jordan love you know but the raiders went out and got n'kobe dean you know they went and got defensive help so i think that the raiders can keep this game interesting um i don't know

[01:07:46] what to expect from either team um i think that jeff halfley as a defensive guy is going to probably try to keep it a smash mouth type game because miami still has the two offense as far as how their personnel is structured you know the raiders you know they have young talent in the secondary but young talent nonetheless i'm excited to see trading stooks you know um offense leaves a lot to be desired i flipped the coin i went back and forth i'm gonna take the dolphins in a

[01:08:16] mini upset you know i'm gonna take the dolphins i'm gonna call it 1713 monday night football you remember earlier i was talking about nanny nichols going up against the ravens coming off of that injury well enter patrick mahomes coming off a catastrophic injury going up against a defense that you don't want to see in week one in that situation the broncos led the league in sacks last year with 68 the chiefs are coming back for their crown you know they have eric b

[01:08:45] enemy back naggies in new york so lots more running the football i think kenneth walker super bowl mvp i expect a lot of work out of him in this game now if you're the chiefs how do you play this do you go heavy personnel to have more blockers in the game to keep the benitos off of patrick mahomes or do you go quick game and try to involve a guy like

[01:09:14] xavier worthy who has world-class speed but can't necessarily get off the block get off the line you know he doesn't make plays down field that you would think that he would make with his speed i expect to see more jalen royals involvement in this game but then flip it on the other side the losses of mcduffie you know the loss of jalen watson lejarius need is back

[01:09:47] jalen waddle i expect him to get loose in this game i've been talking about the impact that he's going to make for this team part of the reason why i'm picking him to go to the super bowl win the super bowl i think that denver just has too much at this point in the season the tough part is the games at arrowhead that's always a tough place to play you know that crowd once they get going you still got chris jones you know so you can't necessarily take your eye off the prize and think that you know with the losses of

[01:10:17] chanel and others that this isn't the same kansas city defense while it's not i think they still have enough to cause the broncos issues early if the broncos can't run the ball you know so i expect some rj harvey out of the backfield you know i'm interested to see jonah coleman and see how often he gets involved in this game now if i'm if i'm the chiefs i think i sit back and drop eight and i just make

[01:13:13] take purdue straight up to win at home against wake forest you know it's been many moons since purdue has beat a power 14 you know i think they get it done um a game that i'm really looking forward to this weekend because you know we got a few big 10 sec matchups and i know all next week that's all everybody's going to talk about is the secs better the big tits better and i'm probably going to tune out but you know

[01:14:11] game that like is crazy for me because i am an air force veteran and everything so air force has north dakota the bison are coming through the bison are coming north dakota state has not skipped a beat since this season started you know i know they've only played jacksonville state in fordham you know but it but it's not like jacksonville state's been fbs for a few years right you know said i know they lost cam cook to west virginia so the

[01:14:41] running game wasn't gonna be as potent as it was but north dakota state just dispatched them like just tore them apart right dissected them but yeah um but i'm gonna go air force to win straight up over north dakota state so other games i got my eye on a lot of people been talking crazy about this bama kentucky game i saw bama about ten and a half and i've been seeing people pick kentucky straight up why are you just trying to be edgy are you just trying to be

[01:16:36] weeks to play western michigan now western michigan has some stock and some capital right because they're coming off that game against michigan i'm not gonna call it a win or a loss but they're coming off that game so boise winning this game sets up a playoff this is what we wanted right when the regular season when the playoffs expanded this is what we wanted you know these games in the regular season that meant something week to week we wanted to know that you weren't diluting the season if boise wins this game this

[01:17:06] weekend that game in kalamazoo is gonna be the best thing to hit kalamazoo since mc light mentioned them in a song right all right um memphis you know they already got the win against unlv in their pocket you know so they don't have a power four team on their schedule yes youtube i know that the team's backed out i know arkansas backed out but uh they don't have a power four team on their schedule so if they have any shot of

[01:17:34] making the playoff they can't lose this game coach charles huff is a win nerf all right you know some some over unders that i like um i like unlv in north texas over 57 i like nebraska with the points and i like the over 50 against bowling green i like navy and fau over 58 old miss and charlotte over 60 and a half old miss might get

[01:18:02] 60 by themselves and then i got the cyhawk one of my favorite games just like the border war i got the cyhawk under 40 and a half so you know i think i think iowa just puts them in a sleeper hold and we're going to be looking at like a 24 to 6 type game all right let's get to it so ohio stayed in texas down here in my neck of the woods up in austin so if you remember and i know you do they started the season against each other last year it was one of the most dry games you ever saw two

[01:18:31] great teams play the year before that they met in the semi-finals of the cfp and it was a close game back and forth game you know and then ohio state ran a fumble back to close the door on the longhorns now this is a game that might be as big for the coaches as it is for the players so on one side you got arch manning who you know a lot of people are probably going to give heisman love to especially

[01:19:00] if they win this game who came off the end of last year where he got a lot better and improved you got julian saying who people still have questions about because a lot of people think including mr logical they think that he's just a quarterback that benefits from who he's from his weaponry okay there might be some truth to that but okay uh but the coaches ryan day how long is that national title keep those

[01:19:29] fans happy because if you remember ryan day you know i think his record is something like 85 and 12 you know and that still wasn't good enough for a lot of these ohio state fans what up res you know say like say let's say more is in the building y'all check us out thursdays um i think that if they lose this game it's no spilled milk as far as the rest of the season goes ohio state

[01:19:57] coming down here and losing to texas you don't go oh they're overrated oh they're not going to make the playoffs but what you might do if texas loses this game you might start asking questions like is steve sarkisian the man for this job you know is texas ever going to get over the hump because for all the shit that we give james franklin sark is up there with him the only difference is james franklin

[01:20:25] was losing to the same teams you know he was losing to ohio state and michigan ohio state's lost something like 17 games in the last 10 years okay you know what i mean whereas texas you know is losing but this spot this spot is interesting for me and and and sark is five and nine against top 10 teams at texas but this is an interesting spot to me it feels eerily similar similar to when texas went down to

[01:20:54] alabama two years ago so if you remember indulge me for a second the prior year alabama came down here to austin and snuck out of here with a one point win you know that was the play where texas uh quinn yours got hurt really bad you know dirty play dallas turner okay so alabama won that game that gave texas the confidence that they could go into bryant denny the

[01:21:24] next season which they did win by 10 that was the year of course my seminoles got left out the playoffs because they let bama in as the sec champion you got to let the team in that beat bama right okay understood but now as i look at this game texas went into the horseshoe last year and they lost 14 to 7 but the thing about that game is not the score it's how it happened ryan day literally at some point during the game last year said they

[01:21:53] ain't got nothing for us it was like watching a boxer who was getting punched by his opponent he was just walking through it and he said let him punch yourself out by the sixth round he on his ass that's what ohio state did to texas last year they put the anaconda vice on them and texas didn't even score in that game until three minutes and 28 seconds left they did have a chance on a fourth down to try to push it into overtime

[01:22:21] but arch couldn't make the play so what does ohio state need to do to win this game they need to run the ball last year in this matchup even though texas lost even though texas only put up seven points texas ran for 166 yards and they held ohio state to 2.3 yards per carry

[01:22:42] okay now ohio state's got something they didn't have last year a guy named legend bay who i've been hearing people compare to reggie bush but i see a little bit more percy harvin you know in in his game you know saying they got both jacksons you know in the backfield so ohio state should be able to get a push but if they can't now we put the ball back in julian sayan's hand now remember the playoff game against miami

[01:23:09] mr logical came on here and picked miami because ohio state hadn't seen a defense like that hadn't seen speed like that guess what they're coming down here that's secondary texas secondary you know might be one of the best equipped to go up against a receiver room like ohio state you know you have rashin biles coming over from pit so you know that middle linebacker calling out the plays that leader you know the signal caller is there

[01:23:37] whereas when you look at ohio state you don't see arvel reese you don't see sunny styles you know what i mean you don't see caleb downs they got earl little jr but when you look back there you don't see some of those requisite things that made you scared of ohio state now obviously they reload but can they do it in week two in two games against texas jeremiah smith has 46 yards right

[01:24:04] this is the guy that people are saying is going to win the heisman this is the guy people saying is you know the best player in college football this is the guy that people are saying he could have went number one in the draft you know if he was eligible the last two years they held him to 46 yards the last two years so i'm not a savant to say ohio state's got to find a way to get their best player of the ball now they do have chris henry jr brandon ennis

[01:24:32] so there are weapons that texas has to worry about that could free up uh jeremiah smith now back to texas running the ball last year that was trey wisner who's a seminole now getting paid 650,000 dollars and not getting the football but you know what texas did do they went and got hollywood smothers from nc state one of my favorite players and one of my favorite names by the way they went and got ralik brown from arizona state

[01:25:00] they went and got the second best wide receiver in college football cam coleman transferring from auburn so texas is loaded up and ready you know as joe budden would say let the gunshots blow that's where we are this weekend that's what's happening in austin supremacy is on the line sec versus big 10 ohio state versus texas two of the bigger names in the sport two of the polarizing fan bases in the sport

[01:25:30] two of the head coaches with the most pressure in the sport so who wins the game i'm going with ohio state um i just trust them more um sark is one of these coaches that gets in one of these big games and he steps on himself it's not that different than lane kiffin you know where they they all season long their teams hulk up hulk up and then when you get to the end game

[01:26:00] they get a little too cute instead of just keeping it simple those habits don't die now do i think ohio state's going to dominate this game not a chance in hell i think dkr is going to be the loudest it's been since a&m went back there for the first time two years ago lsu and joe burrow you know like so austin's going to be rocking you know what i mean so but ohio state's not foreign to this

[01:26:29] they go to the big house every year they went to austin they know how to play in these environments now i think that ohio state knows what i just said about texas running for 166 yards against them so i expect a lot of stunts you know um and don't forget who their defensive coordinator is matt patricia so you're going to see a lot of that i think ohio state's going to win this game and it's going to be a close game

[01:26:57] texas is favored by one and a half but oddly enough i think ohio state wins by one 28-27 let's go to the big house you know where games are played to be stolen so you got the michigan wolverines inviting in the oklahoma sooners and you know this game is so crazy to me because it's what i like to go back to mortal combat and refer to as a mirror match so both teams have elite defenses

[01:27:26] albeit for different reasons but elite defenses you know um michigan has a quarterback in bryce underwood who should try to be a little bit more like john mateer who michigan should use a little bit more like oklahoma uses john mateer who was probably the heisman front runner last year before he hurt his thumb all right mix michigan went to oklahoma last year and they got shut down i blame

[01:27:56] sharon more for most of that with his vanilla offense bryce underwood was in his second game he didn't open the playbook sort of like we saw texas and ohio state last year so now you got to open that playbook because we saw what happened the other day now i know western michigan had a 20 20 play 13 minute drive michigan still held western michigan to 3.3 yards per carry

[01:28:25] but if you get 3.3 yards per carry you get a first down right so oh i didn't even think about that i didn't even think about that good catch um you know but you know um kyle winningham if there's one things that one thing that his team is going to be it's going to be physical so don't think that they don't know or don't remember what western michigan did to them last week so i expect michigan's defense to come out like a house on fire right

[01:28:55] now the problem is can i trust bryce underwood to be a little bit better because even looking at this he had 12 completions against western michigan yes that includes the hail mary um six of those 12 catches went to j.j buchanan go utes who transferred in from utah and oh by the way he's the one that caught the hail mary so you already had andrew marsh in the bill

[01:29:24] who was there with bryce underwood last year one catch or i'm sorry two catches so between the two of them eight of the 12 catches for those of you that like math out there that's two thirds so michigan's got to find a way to get the tight end involved on some bootlegs they need to actually use bryce underwood i think we're entering a dangerous point with some of these black quarterbacks where we're we're like hey

[01:29:52] i don't want to shoehorn this guy as a playmaker i don't want to shoehorn him as a guy that has to use his legs but if you got your legs you got to use them what's the point of having the god-given ability if you're not going to put it into application right so that's where i think michigan can make up some gaps in this game is being a little bit more unpredictable

[01:30:20] being physical and laying on the oklahoma defense but the oklahoma oklahoma's got peyton and eli on their defense over there you know what i mean so we'll see how that goes oh oh you look good running the ball last week which they could not do last season got bad news it was against utep yes texas el paso the school of tim hardaway that's who they ran the ball against so we don't know if oklahoma can run the ball this line in the offseason

[01:30:50] was a point and a half last i saw it that thing's jumped up to oklahoma by five and a half i know that these players these coaches aren't supposed to be looking at fan duel they aren't supposed to be listening to draft kings or khalashi and all this stuff they do michigan knows that they're five and a half point underdogs at home this weekend they know that the world is leaving them for dead

[01:31:19] so this is one of those old cliche games right it's a game of pride and it's a game of wounded animal and what's even more dangerous than a wounded animal coming off a loss is a wounded animal coming off of a win because they still got something to prove even though they have a one in the w column now john mateer he has a guy by the name of isaiah setenga that

[01:31:49] defenses just can't cover he's like the football version of luca and james harden where you see him make plays get open and you're like how the hell is he doing that you know said john mateer will find him you know brett venables is going to make bryce underwood's life a living hell you know so this is where we get to see how much bryce young has matured from last year when he was a freshman

[01:32:17] can he read the defense a little bit better does he see that lineman that looks like he's going to drop in the coverage but he's going to come back does he see the defensive tackle that's looked like he's going to bull rush but then when the ball snaps he falls into a zone is he going to be able to make those determinations one but even more importantly is he going to be able to make them quick enough or same thing i was kind of talking about with jalen hurts earlier so

[01:32:49] samion hider who i've been excited to watch you know and then jordan marshall last week against western commission against western michigan a combined 20 rushes for 91 yards now remember what i just said a few minutes ago oklahoma ran the ball on utep michigan couldn't run the ball on western michigan and now i'm supposed to think that you're going to just run the ball on oklahoma because you're mad because you want to
