The AFC South enters 2026 carrying some serious baggage. The division owns the lowest winning percentage among NFL divisions (.476), has gone 19 years without a Super Bowl. But could that narrative finally be changing? In this AFC South Preview, Sports Reports as Ordered asks the questions that could define the division in 2026: What does Year 2 of Cam Ward look like? Can the Titans finally find the quarterback stability they’ve been searching for? Will the Texans offense finally show up? Houston has the pieces to be dangerous, but is this the year they become a legitimate Super Bowl threat? What does Jacksonville have in store? After a surprising season last year, are the Jaguars building something real, or was it a one-year flash? Are the Colts STILL the NFL’s best average team? Can Indianapolis finally turn being competitive into actually being a contender? And we’re not stopping there… AROUND THE NATION returns with the latest in college football news and thoughts on Florida State and Texas. But I promised y'all And I promised him, I will not let him lie to y'all and say that the Colts are going to win In Jacksonville this year He's not going to do it So you know what I'm saying? We are going to talk about the AFC South tonight Get into a little college football, Mr. Logicals here Let's get right to it Like, review, subscribe, share, rate, do all the free things Do all the good things with a Liquid Death in your hand You know what I'm saying? I'm going to leave my comments about this peanut butter one to myself
[00:01:56] We are everywhere that you can get your podcast But let's do it So, Q Are you going to tell the truth? The Colts are going to win in Jacksonville? They're going to do it first, man Honestly, until they do it I can't even say they will Alright, y'all Since 2014 Since 2014
[00:02:22] Yep, which happens to be the last time the Colts won the division too If I remember correctly But, yeah, it's been tough But the AFC South, you know They haven't had a Super Bowl since the Colts won the Super Bowl back in 2007 So let's just take it off with some general questions to get us started So what is it going to take for the Texans to become a legit Super Bowl threat? Hmm
[00:02:50] I think my personal opinion for them to become a legitimate Super Bowl threat They have got to figure out the offense Just what I've seen the past few years out of that team is The defense always comes ready to play Coach Ryan's got them boys just really amped up and flying out all over the place But CJ Stroud, his rookie year, he really came out there and kind of just tore it up
[00:03:17] And then, you know, whether it's the line play or key injuries to his receivers or what have you We just haven't seen that same level of CJ Stroud play So, I mean, I can't call it But I think that offense has got to figure it out They might be like the 2000 Ravens with Trent Dilfer I'm not saying CJ Stroud is Trent Dilfer But last season, I think it was maybe the season before
[00:03:45] I think they had like the worst interior line It was like the guards were ranked like 30th in the league And the interior was like 31st I think sometimes they rely on the fact that he is like a top tier talent And they try to do too much Stick to the run game Stick to the ground and pound Defensively, you know you're going to kill him Like I talk about the creative player, Daniel Hunter So, you keep the game close You keep the game to where the other team has to pass the ball
[00:04:15] They're likely to make a mistake Anderson coming off one side Daniel Hunter coming off the other side So, if you can have a serviceable offensive line I mean, 13 to 16 Anywhere in that range If you could just do that And keep CJ Stroud Keep the turnovers less than Less than 12 total turnovers on a year I know it's a lot, 17 games But, you know, you keep the interceptions down And, you know, keep them clean in the pocket Because that What was that playoff game against the wing?
[00:04:45] He just kept turning the ball over? Mm-hmm Yeah Yeah, so As long as they can keep him upright I think they're fine So, that's kind of the problem, right? You brought up the offensive line That was kind of the problem last year They couldn't run the ball So, you know So, a lot of that fell on to CJ Stroud You know, who Every time we turned around You know, somebody was hurt You know, Nico Collins missed some time You know, I believe Hutchinson got hurt at one point I don't know how many games Tank Dell has even played
[00:05:14] You know, and he's starting off the season On the IR, it looks like as well, probably So, D'Amico Ryan You know, he's been there three years 32-19 in the regular season 3-3 in the playoffs So, they got a formula here They've never won a divisional playoff game, though And, in addition to Daniil Hunter Will Anderson And, you know, the crazy thing about them Is that As a duo
[00:05:41] They combined for the most pressures in the league last year And most sacks So, 176 pressures And 27 sacks And they don't even got a blitz to get there That's the craziest part about it You know what I'm saying? Houston actually is one of the lesser The less blitzing teams in the league But, you know, as I look around the division You know, you have Cam Ward settling into year two You know, Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville Came out of nowhere last year And then the Colts were doing the thing If I remember, it was 7-1
[00:06:11] And then Daniel Jones Or maybe 8-1 And then Daniel Jones got hurt And then it just kind of went to hell from there So, as far as the rest of the division goes What stands out to you guys this year? Well, kind of back to Houston When it comes to them They do have a formula For winning the AFC South I think they have A floor with their defense That the other teams don't quite have So, they can kind of rely on that
[00:06:40] As we've been saying But, I don't think They're like heads and shoulders above Anybody in the division I do So, that gives everybody You do? I don't think I don't I think that they I think it's their division to lose Because They can play a game That they can win 17-10 Like, they know definitively Like, we can keep you
[00:07:10] Under 20 points Just with our defense You know I know they play in the Dome And Jacksonville doesn't really have any weather And the Indies are Dome So, maybe the outside game in Tennessee That's kind of sloppy Or if they get Like, if I look at their schedule They have a couple of games That are outside Where it's just They're going to be able to just Control the clock And I think they have Like, I always talk about What Who has a definitively better group In a matchup I think their defensive group
[00:07:40] Compared to Almost probably all of their opponents Is going to be at a deficit With their You know As far as the matchup So, I think that's their advantage And having An entire defense That Has that kind of advantage I think that's what's going to help them In these These tight games Where CJ Stroud Might have a couple of turnovers early And like It's kind of back and forth I think the defense will hold up Yeah I mean Like I said Their defense is their formula To their success
[00:08:10] If you ask me I mean If you want to be a fanboy You can say it You can like No No The Colts Don't win it It's like Listen That's all good We are here for it Hey Let everybody Let everybody see the shirt Let everybody see the shirt You I got My My My My My My My My My My My My My My You You You You But Until They Until They lose it Right I'm not going I'm not going to be a fanboy And say Oh The Colts Don't win it And they're all that
[00:08:39] I would love for that to happen Realistically They're still the favorite Until something changes And that's what I'm saying They have that defensive formula But Well I feel like I'm being a little disrespectful Cause you know Somebody else won the division last year What the Yeah You talking about You talking Yeah Yeah, Jacksonville won the division last year, and y'all sitting up here talking about Houston and Houston and Houston. Yeah, but we've seen Trevor Lawrence.
[00:09:09] Trevor Lawrence is like a good student. He'll give you an A one day, and then give you a C on the next paper. Like, come on, Trevor. That don't sound like a good student to me. Listen, the A and the C is a 3.0, but his A will be a 98. And then the C, like, yo, how are you? We in the same week. And then, like, but that's how it is. Like, it just is up and down. That's why we had two coaches. I say he had two coaches fired, but you don't expect –
[00:09:37] I don't think people are expecting whatever they got from Trevor Lawrence last year to this year. I think the defense translates. I think that's why people are kind of thinking about Houston as a winner. So, you know, I was thinking about you earlier in a platonic way, of course. Obviously. And, you know, and listen up, Mike, you know, saying, man, like the other week we got into a little argument about Marvin – or Harvin Marison Jr., right? Correct. And so I was thinking about this. And as I was looking around, I looked at Brian Thomas Jr.
[00:10:07] You know, he came out as a rookie and lit the league on fire, you know, 10 touchdowns, 1,200 yards, so on and so forth. And then last year, you know, he dropped from 87 catches to 48, 10 touchdowns to 2, you know, less than – you know, more than a 500-yard difference. But this was the one that got me because you talked about Marvin Harrison Jr. and his targets. You know, so his catch rate, Marvin Harrison Jr., was 56.
[00:10:37] Brian Thomas Jr. was only a 53, and I ain't heard nothing about this man. Well, his dad's not in the Hall of Fame. Oh, is that what it is? Okay. That's what it is. His dad was in the Hall of Fame. He went to Ohio State. Ohio State wide receivers have – I know the LSU wide receivers are making this battle, like it's WR, LSU, or is it wide receiver U out of Ohio State.
[00:11:07] But the top couple of wide receivers from LSU, kind of like – and then you got Odell Beckham with the aura. I think Brian Thomas doesn't rise to that. Like, I don't think he's like a big media person, so I don't think he really gets talked about. He plays in Jacksonville, which doesn't get a lot of media coverage as well. Marvin Harrison is Marvin Harrison Jr., the son of a Hall of Fame wide receiver who played with Peyton Manning, who went to Ohio State. And all they talk about is Ohio State wide receivers all the time.
[00:11:35] So that's why he's being scrutinized a little bit more. But Brian Thomas, they talked about him a lot. He dropped the ball a lot. Like, he had the yips. And I know people go through it in sports. We talk about, you know, one of the greatest basketball players ever having that problem in the finals of 2011. The sports psychiatrist. One of the greatest basketball players ever. We don't need to keep going into details, LeBron James. So – but like some players just have it. It happens in golf. It happens in tennis. But they just – they have an off year.
[00:12:04] They can't – you know, like even baseball players go through it. So hopefully he's tightening that up because he was dropping passes on shallow drag routes wide open. Oh, him. Yeah. Yeah. So – Well, I agree with you, Ralph. With that, yeah, with that, I think that was his problem. He should be able to turn it around, but that's what I'm talking about. So, like, the thing – oh, my bad. Go ahead, Ku. No, I was just going to say that's a huge thing what you're saying is because coming
[00:12:34] out of college, the profile for Marvin Harrison Jr. was just a lot bigger. And then you got to think about the things that come with that. Like, he's already bigger, but then he had the situation. What was it? The FanDuel and the jersey and all the stuff. So it's like – Oh, Fanatics. It was someone Fanatics, yeah. Yeah. So it was a lot of things circling Marvin Harrison Jr. You know what I'm saying? The Hall of Fame dad, Ohio State. You know, he's one of the top picks.
[00:13:01] Brian Thomas was a super – uber-talented guy coming out of LSU in the mix, but, you know, he just didn't have the highlights on him. So when he came in and went to do the things that he did in Jacksonville, that kind of upped his profile. But then when he began to fall off last year – I won't say fall off because he's still a young player. Yeah, he just had a bad year, yeah. Yeah. When it dipped down, you know, it really – it doesn't hurt him as much because when he kind of came, the expectations wasn't as high for him. You know what I mean?
[00:13:31] Kind of like – And he exceeded the expectations already. Like, he just kind of came out like – The same thing kind of happened with CJ Stroud. It was like the expectation wasn't for him to be that much better than Bryce Young when they came out because, you remember, they went 1-2 in the draft. And then Houston made the move to get Will Anderson and then he just had that. But he had like a Dak Prescott kind of rookie year. 23 touchdowns. I think he had like four or five interceptions. Very similar to Dak numbers. You know, made the big plays when they were there. Oh, shit.
[00:14:01] Why you had to say that name? Thank you. Oh, man. Here comes Mike. So, like I said, Barbara Harrison, they just drew a lot of attention. But Jacksonville throws the ball and I'll never – the playoff game that they lost to Buffalo, who was coming wide open? I think it was Washington. Parker Washington. Yeah. Yeah. Trevor threw it underneath.
[00:14:29] If he were to weigh that half second longer and threw it over the top, he scores. It was no one on the right side of the field defensively. The safety was down. Well, you know what, Mr. Logical, it sounds like you need to talk to Jacksonville about how to circle those wagons. But, you know, the thing that stands out to me about Jacksonville this year is Devin Lloyd's gone. You know, Devin Lloyd's gone. And, you know, the reason why I bring him up is because at the beginning of last season,
[00:14:58] Jacksonville – we talked about Chicago a couple of weeks ago and Jacksonville forced turnovers in that same way. You know, they finished second in the league in turnovers. But the crazy thing about a lot of their turnovers that they forced, they were in the red zone. So, you know, that type of thing, you know, varies from year to year anyway. So it makes me wonder if Jacksonville just kind of got a bit of the luck bug last year. And, you know, without a lot of those turnovers, can they still maintain that same level of
[00:15:28] success? You know, Trevor Etienne's gone. You know, I do like Basul Tootin. You know, but then they went and got Chris Rodriguez from Washington. So he's a 4.6-yard per carry guy, but he has less than 200 carries in his career. So I think you're banking on a small sample size to kind of, you know, pave the way forward. Now, Travis Hunter is back, but it sounds like he might be playing a little bit more DB this year
[00:15:57] than receiver, which he should have been playing anyway. I don't know why they keep announcing that. No one cares. Just play him. Play him where you're going to play him. Like, you don't have to keep announcing where you're not going to play him. Let the defense or the offense find out wherever 12 is when he goes on the field. Unless I think he has to wear 21. Nah, he can still wear 12 on both sides, right? Because I remember last year he had like a double jersey situation for some reason. I think he'd be fine.
[00:16:21] But, you know, I think that's what's going to doom Jacksonville is their lack of ability to force turnovers at that same rate. They did go 7-1 at home last season to include a win over the Colts. You know, that happened. Yeah, it was it, huh? You know? What do y'all feel about the Colts situation down there in Jacksonville? Oh, Liam? Oh, like I rock with Liam, man. You know what I mean?
[00:16:49] Salo said he's going to kill him or something. But, like, you know what I'm saying? But I rock with him. Oh, oh. Dude, oh. Like, he – Well, you know, he – That was the worst press conference. Well, you know, it's funny because he came from Tampa, you know, and, you know, Baker Mayfield, you know, had a great year under him. And people – when he got hired, people were kind of like, oh, Baker got him that job. And here we are now. So, like, you know. Because that could be the marriage, like,
[00:17:19] that Trevor Lawrence has been missing for – to propel him to that steady state. Because I know, you know, we were talking about Houston, but – Shut up, boy. Trevor Lawrence, he's one of those guys that had – Raiders! Oh, Lord. Y'all pray for my brother. Wait till you get to the AFC West. The thing about it is Trevor Lawrence had all this hype that coming out of college and how great he was going to be, et cetera, et cetera.
[00:17:47] And he never really seemed to meet that expectation. And now that he has this coach, Liam, there, and he has this great year with Liam, maybe that's the coach that he needed there to help him reach some of those expectations, you know? Well, it doesn't hurt, right? Like, Parker Washington had a career year last year. Or, you know, Jacoby Myers, when they brought him in, that changed the whole dynamic of their offense. You know, they had that reliable guy that, even though he's a little small,
[00:18:16] you know, he can go across the middle, you know, get some yak, you know, make you miss a little bit. Trevor Lawrence is one of those quarterbacks that I feel got a bum rap because of the hype that he came out with. But now we're seeing what it looks like when you put talent around him. Yeah. Yeah, and they definitely went for it. And like I said, I talk about, you know, my own team, Atlanta. Sorry to cut you off, but Jacksonville, Jacksonville, Carolina,
[00:18:46] to some degree, the Raiders. It's like, listen, I have a somewhat anemic passing game. I have a quarterback. I need to get them big targets. Just get them big targets that he can throw the ball to and then work in the small, undersized guy that can work the slot. But when they went and got Trevor, they were like, listen, we'll get you a bunch of six foot three, six foot four guys. You shouldn't be able to miss those targets. And then go to Brian Thomas.
[00:19:15] Who else did they have? Number seven. I forgot. He wasn't there last year, but he was there two years ago. Christian Kirk. We got Christian Kirk. Listen, we're going to get you these targets. We're going to get you these guys who want to stretch the field so you can, you know, show your talent. But he had like a couple of weird injuries. He got stepped on by a guard, like enrolled his ankle a couple years ago. That kind of threw him off. Right. Right. Listen, sometimes it's as simple as that.
[00:19:44] Like, yeah, you can't always match. Like, yeah, the Eagles have a center that's five foot 11, 285, 208 pounds, 300 pounds. Good to go. But for the most part, if you're going to get an offensive line. Yeah. If you're going to get an offensive line, wide receiver, sometimes it's simply just go get the big target. And that's what they did from the past few years. And then you go get the offensive minded coach. And like you said, Q said, this might be the marriage you look for. A couple of divorces, but, you know, settle in.
[00:20:14] So when are the Colts going to stop being the average team? Man. How do you? Well, actually, before you even say that, tell me how you feel about Shane Steichen. This is year four, I believe. Get him out of there. Get him out of there? Get him out of there. Really? If you honestly ask me my opinion on the Colts coach situation, they haven't got a head coach since Tony Dungy.
[00:20:44] Because they keep – what I mean by that is they keep getting these guys who are coordinators masquerading as head coaches. Jim Caldwell, regardless of how people feel about – Jim. Dave Caldwell, sorry. Regardless of how – No, it's Jim. It's Jim. It was Jim. Yeah, it was Jim. Okay, my part. See, that's how bad it was for me. Like, he's – Forgot his name. I'm just talking about him. But, like, to me, he was an offensive coordinator. You know what I'm saying? Then we had the Chuck Pacano, you know?
[00:21:14] Oh, yeah. Yeah, and we had the – who else did we have? Frank Reich, you know? Frank Reich, yeah. We've had all these guys come through there, and it's like they don't know how to do the head coach things. Because you know when you're a head coach, you're basically managing more than – You had Jeff Saturday in there for a little bit. He had to come call me his head coach. Hey, we don't talk about fight club. He had to come call me his head coach. We don't talk about fight club. Just go to the fucking place, Jeff.
[00:21:45] No, so like – so Steichen, though, I like Steichen, right? If I remember correctly, you're the Colt fan, so correct me where I messed up. Year one, they went nine and eight, and they were like a fourth down away from the playoffs with Gardner Minshew. You know what I mean? Then they went eight and nine the last two years, you know, to include eight and one, like we said, to start last season before the injury started. You know what I mean? But I think that the Colts are a GM problem.
[00:22:14] Get him out of there too, Chris Ballard. He can go too. Okay, okay. Yeah, had multiple starting quarterbacks for this many years, and to start the year with the quarterbacks, you had Matt Ryan, Carson Wentz, Phillip Rivers, Daniel Jones. Jacoby Brissett. He's better than Curtis Painter. We don't talk about that either. Yeah.
[00:22:43] So, yeah, just having – I mean, Floyd, you're right. Clean state. Sometimes – Hold on, hold on. My man said it's not Shane's fault they drafted a fullback to the number one pick. That man stood on the table. He stood on the table to go get him, so it is his fault. Yeah. Hey, you know what? Is he starting – hold on. Is he starting week one or are they going with Riley Leonard? No, Riley Leonard is even worse. That's what's great.
[00:23:11] Or is Daniel going to be back? They're expecting Daniel to be back. Okay. Yeah, they're expecting Daniel to be back. And that's my whole thing about Shane. I don't know, man. They said him and Ballard, they were like, we recognize that this guy is super raw, right? He's super raw, and we're going to work with him. We're going to develop him and get him to where he needs to be, right? They throw him in the fire right away and realize how super raw he is.
[00:23:37] And what they fail to do is call a game plan that helps him out. They put too many options out there on the table. You know, they're not chopping the field down to give him easy reads, stuff like that. They're just putting a lot of stuff out there for him. And he wasn't ready, and now you've burned the guy, he's ready to go. And I can't say that I blame him. And if you notice one thing that happens with the Colts coaches is that when it comes to the quarterback situation,
[00:24:04] even if we were to go get another brand new young quarterback, I wouldn't trust him with a new quarterback because I have no confidence in their ability to develop a young quarterback. You know, it seems like they need somebody that's been in the league a few years and they can work with. Because if you look at Gardner Minshew, I'm thinking in my head when I watch that season, I'm like, wow, AR has so much more potential. They're going to get so much more out of him when in reality they didn't. You know what I mean?
[00:24:34] And to me it's like, okay, Gardner Minshew already know how to be in the league, get ready, prepare for games. So you can kind of, you have that baseline. You know what I mean? Because when I'm listening to these other podcasts and they're saying like, okay, well, his cadence is off. So you got guys like Quentin Nelson, he's over there helping him with his cadence. Like stuff like that is coaches should recognize. And they should have done that. It's all the stuff they should have looked at the draft combine video.
[00:25:02] And when he threw the ball into the ceiling indoors, routes against air at his pro day, it's like, you know what? He might not be a fourth overall pick. I think they probably still could have got him later. But if you weren't going to literally sit him and have him hold a clipboard, how much, I mean, who's going to? He wasn't going to be there later. Everybody wants a quarterback that can finish a fast break.
[00:25:27] And on top of that, like, you know, when I think about Anthony Richardson, when he got drafted, you know what my thought was? Who the hell let Terrell Pryor back in the club? That's what I was thinking. I didn't like his completion percentage in Florida. I think it was something like 56% or 57%. So it was like, you should be at 67 to 70 in college if you're top. At Florida. Yeah, dudes are running wide open in Florida. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:25:57] Well, they were in there. I don't know how to put this because, you know, I'm a Florida State guy and I can't stand. We ain't got to shit on Billy Napier right now. You know what I'm saying? He gone. But are you optimistic for this season? Huh? Are you optimistic for this season, though, as a Colt fan? I am. Despite that, because I was a guy like, oh, they're not giving AR a chance. You know, Daniel Jones ain't this.
[00:26:25] Daniel Jones, he's not nothing like superpower to anything. Shane, but as far as being able to do the things that they need him to do, the baseline things, that's why he's a good fit for Shane. Right? Because he's a veteran. As long as he can stay healthy. If he can stay healthy, he can be a big. Then he's tore his ACL two times, right? He had an ACL tear. I know he had one with the Giants. Yeah, one with the Giants. And then when he popped an Achilles last year, did he tear an ACL?
[00:26:56] He popped the Achilles. That's what took him out. But he already had the knee issue. So it was the two injuries. Yeah. But yeah, like if he can stay healthy, which is the big if, right? You know what I mean? But he can do the baseline thing. So I'm excited. I'm ready to see what can happen. Because to me, I'm in a win-win situation, right? If we get out here and fail miserably, the GM, the coach, they're gone. I actually like our defensive coordinator, Lou Amaru. He's great. Why?
[00:27:26] Man, listen. After you had, what was the guys now? I forgot. I can't even remember them right now. Was it the 22nd place defenses he had in Cincinnati that got you all riled up? No, but that's the thing. He took the fall. He took the fall because they got rid of his guys. And then they want to blame it on a defensive coordinator, right? Well, you know what, Q? I'm going to tell you like this. If you're a good defensive coordinator, like, it's fine to have your guys, but you got a coach who's there. Who's the guy that said? Mike Tomlin runs to coaching.
[00:27:56] If you want me to make dinner and at least allow me to buy the ingredients, you know? Who said that? So how do you feel about losing? It's not like something Mike Dicker would say. It's not like a Mike Hayes statement. How do you feel about losing? How do you feel about losing Zaire Franklin? Because I think that the linebacker spot is probably going to be the weak spot for the Colts this year. You know, obviously they went and got Sauce Gardner last year. He got hurt too. But him and Chavarius – yeah, everybody got hurt.
[00:28:25] But him and Chavarius Ward, you know, that's a good combo, you know, provided that they can stay healthy. You know, they went and got – oh, there's a safety that they grabbed that I forgot too. But – AJ Halsey. Halsey in the draft. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, but – so they went and got Gaither from Cincinnati. You know, that was one of Luz guys that you're talking about. Yeah. You know, but Quidi Pei's gone. I'm like, that's not the Colts. Like, what are they doing?
[00:28:52] Quidi Pei was not – Quidi Pei was a first-round average. Like, I don't even think he was really a first-round type talent. And he was just there. You know what I mean? Okay, okay. So I don't think we really lost much there. We got DeForest Buckner coming back, Grover Stewart. Those are our veteran guys. Got a lot too. They said he's coming along on the edge. And the other guy – Oh, you love him. JT, another guy from Ohio State. Oh, JTT. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
[00:29:22] So we're going to see what those guys bring on. Our big thing is D-Buck, right? Because he's been having the back injuries. And, you know, he's an older player, stuff like that. But if he can come back healthy, it should be interesting. I'm excited about the secondary. Like you said, Cam Bynum has been a godsend back there. And Halsey, they're saying he's like that box safety. So he's going to bring some thunder back there. Then they went and got – what's my guy named, Raph? You know his name.
[00:29:50] The guy that – the pass interference against Kansas City from Cincinnati. Taylor Britt? Oh, yeah. Cam Taylor Britt. Yeah, they went and got him as well. Yeah. Yeah, they went and got him as well. If I'm not mistaken, he just got cut, though. If I'm not mistaken. Oh, did he? I didn't see that. Okay. But, yeah, so I know that we took Nick Cross off your hands. I appreciate that, by the way. Nick Cross, man. I got my own. So back to the original statement, right? You was asking me about – Right, right. Right.
[00:30:20] Zari Franklin, cool guy. Like the podcast. I think he really starting to – got the feeling himself and he was doing more talking than he was playing. When you look at the stats, you see, oh, man, this guy's got all these tackles, right? He has all these tackles because he can't cover anything. He's just out there allowing the guys to catch all the balls in the world and then he tackles them. Right? So I'm like, give me somebody that can actually cover. Dion says something like that. He was like, if you got a corner that's high on your team and tackles, that corner's not good.
[00:30:51] Yeah. But I also like C.J. Allen, another one of your rookies that you guys drafted out of Georgia. I like him a lot too. Yeah, they said – they said, okay, you know, you got to take all that training camp stuff with a grain of salt. They said he's looking good and they're probably going to have him wear the green dot. So we're going to see because that's – normally you don't see a rookie come out wearing that, you know. So I'm excited for him. Yeah, pause that. So how do you feel about Alec Pierce, I guess, getting paid?
[00:31:20] And I guess is he going to be the number one receiver this year once he's back? Absolutely. I was telling people, I was telling some of my buddies because I love Pittman. Pittman is like a – he's like that Hines Ward type receiver. He's going to go out there and do his job. Don't really do a lot of like me type action. Not really a diva, but he's going to go out there and get those solid yards possession type receiver. Alec Pierce that came on and he really in the shadows was kind of like the number one guy out there, you know, especially with Pittman.
[00:31:49] Pittman was playing through a lot of injuries and stuff because he was having the back injuries and things of that sort. He basically had a broke back without their plan, you know. But I think Alec Pierce, I think he's a field stretcher. He needs to work on his route tree right now because he doesn't have all the routes, but he has the talent to learn them, you know what I mean? Yeah, he's doing his best Deshaun Jackson impersonation it seems like. No, go long. Listen, man, we came here for first downs and touchdowns.
[00:32:18] And I've been waiting for Josh Downs. We're doing it. I've been waiting for Josh Downs. Ever since they drafted him, I've loved Josh Downs, but he just can't stay healthy. Well, the thing about Josh Downs too, and that's another one of our weak spots as receiver, right? Like, it's a weak spot because Josh Downs isn't a true outside receiver, but they want him to be because lack of options. Now we got Keenan Allen, right? So now I feel like – Well, I don't know. Jail got him down, don't they? Yeah.
[00:32:47] Jail got him down, don't they? You got to keep him off the list. Yeah, you got to keep him off the exemption list. Yeah, they said he going to be out there week one. But the thing about Keenan Allen – I thought cops gave, like, superstars a break. I thought the same thing too. Where the superstar at? Hey, give me – I want two family tickets. Who the hell – Keenan Allen's a superstar? Tell your girlfriend or your kid to stay at home.
[00:33:15] I want them seats and I'll get you home. But they just taking the dudes to jail? Bullshit. I don't even know. I would even take Dante Thornton over him at this point. I think that's right. Not a single eagle is getting a DUI or DWI in Philly. Not one. No one. Now I'm coming to get them. They know how to take care of their people, man. Exactly. They know how to take care of their people. All right, so guys. Go ahead. Go ahead. No, go ahead. Go ahead.
[00:33:44] No, I was just saying, Keenan Allen, the reason that – because I was like, man, we need somebody. I mean, like, Stephon Diggs. Like, I'm not a huge fan of him because he's such a devil, but I'm like anybody. So I think the reason they brought Keenan Allen is because of the familiarity that he has with Shane Steichen and that he's been in his system before. So with them bringing him in this late, you know, it won't be as hard for him to, like, come in there and just, like, get the system down, the terms and stuff like that.
[00:34:13] He can kind of come in there and feet down and get – You know what, Q? Y'all said the same thing about Phillip Rivers. Now, hey – He ain't winning Jacksonville either. Listen, listen. Phillip Rivers, if you go in there and look, he saw the field and he tried to – he wasn't as bad as, like, you would think a person – he just didn't have an arm is what I'm saying. If he had a little bit more arm juice, we would have been in a better situation. But he didn't have that.
[00:34:40] The motherfucker just celebrated his half-century birthday? Damn. When your son is getting recruited by – when your son is a starting varsity quarterback – Damn, Mike, I can't post that. Getting recruited by college coaches, being by colleges, you two damn old to still be playing football. True. If your son on his way to North Carolina State of Clemson, your ass need to be in the stands with your towel and your water
[00:35:09] watching him practice because that's where my old ass was when my son was at these camps. Hey, tell Rez, though. Now I hear trying to run – scout team running back for the Eagles. But, you know, and that goes to how bad of a situation we were with our quarterbacks because Phillip Rivers went out there. I can't believe they called Phillip Rivers. He looked better than – Why y'all ain't called Joe Milton? You know what I'm saying? Money Milton. You know what I'm saying? He just got released today. I can throw it far and I can throw it fast. But, yeah.
[00:35:38] All right, so what are we expecting a year or two from Cam Ward? You know, Robert Sala, the new head coach, they went and brought in Brian Dayball. Apparently Tennessee loves what Jersey has been doing. They went and got Robert Sala. They went and got Dayball. They went and got Jermaine Johnson and Franklin Myers. They're just bringing anything associated with the Giants or the Jets in with them. Cordell Flott. But when you work and live here in New Jersey, it hardens you.
[00:36:09] It's something about what happens. It's something in the water when you come here where it's like you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. That is a real thing because it's tough to make it here. So I think those guys will be fine. And I think having a couple of head coaches, even though they were kind of dismissed, kind of unceremoniously, I think having Dayball and Sala, you know, they went through the path that I wanted. What's the board name?
[00:36:38] It's the fans feel through. Get fired. Get fired. Go rebuild. Go learn. Go regroup. Take some time and then come back. So Dayball is going to get his time to regroup. Offensive coordinator has a young quarterback that has some questions that hopefully they can answer. Probably the least talked about number one overall pick other than like when they, a couple of times, offensive tackles went number one. But as far as like conversations, he doesn't have a lot of conversation, doesn't have a lot of hype around him.
[00:37:08] Now you get in there, get in the lab and get him to do whatever you were trying to do with Jackson Dart. I think it's a good opportunity. He'll probably land a head coaching job with, you know, or he'll be in conversation. If Cam Ward can have a better season, I expect, I just, I just don't see Tennessee turning around that quick. But if he has, if he has a better year, then I think they will make the right decision. So Q, would you rather have Cam Ward or Anthony Richardson? Cam Ward. Cam Ward.
[00:37:38] Absolutely. You know what I'm saying? Anthony, AR still has the most potential, but Cam Ward is ready to go right now. I feel like he, like, when I say ready to go, I'm talking about in comparison. My personal opinion about them, them Titans, man, because they have the most annoying fan base in the division. So they kind of, ugh. Anyhow, I feel like. Man. In the division. Listen, man. I know what he said. I know. I heard exactly what he said.
[00:38:07] I don't know what he said. You don't understand how often I've heard bleed blue in the last, you know, two, three years. Oh, man. Let me tell you. Plus I'm from Baltimore, man. Fuck the Colts. You know how we roll? Well, man. I'm from, look. I'm the 2-5-6 veteran from Huntsville, Alabama. Let me tell you. That's about an hour and a half from Nashville. And they're annoying. Trust me. Okay. But I feel like this. QB whispered. They think he is. Okay, Scott. Okay.
[00:38:35] I think what Tennessee is, of course, they're not ready to win a division. I don't think. Because every year you got that surprise team that, you know, jumps up. I don't think that their team yet. But I do think they can be that annoying team that kind of surprises people. And people, they find out after they get in the game with them, like, oh, man, we're at a threat to lose this game. And they upset some folks. I think their success should be measured.
[00:39:04] Do they have a quarterback? And what does their offense look like? And are they trending towards the right area more so than just straight wins and losses? I think that's how you're going to have to look at them and determine what their success is this year. So, I know, Raph, you brought up Ohio State and LSU, right? Correct. Carnell Tate? I think he was the number two guy. I think he was the number two guy in Ohio State. I know he's good at Ohio State.
[00:39:34] And, like I said, you can't put all your value into the 40 time. I think he ran, like, a 4-6. But so did Kyle Hamilton, and he's an all-pro safety for the Ravens. So, it was like the 40 isn't everything. I think Jerry Rice ran a 4-6 or something like that. And Juan Bolden. Yeah, so, like, you can't put – but in the same sense, they didn't look good in preseason. Like, I think even a couple of games didn't have any catches.
[00:40:03] So, either you're going to force feed him targets or he's going to have to figure out how to get open and be the target. So, that's come with the development of Cam Ward and Brian Dable's offense. I mean, we saw Russell Wilson throw for 450 yards in that Brian Dable offense. Granted, it was a lot of go-arounds to Malik Nabors and to cover two. Somehow he's still getting open. I don't know how.
[00:40:31] But if he can get him the ball consistently – and like Q said, you have to measure their season with a different chart than you measure another team. Like, the Baltimore standard of what a good season looks like is going to be way different in Tennessee.
[00:40:52] Tennessee is going to have to be like, yeah, we might have ended the year 6-11, but we went into – of those 11 losses, we were within one possession going to the fourth. Like, that's going to have to be the lens they view their season through. Oh, yeah. Because that's – The Colt way. They need a couple more pieces. Now, the Colts are like the Falcons. They should go 4-13 and just get the top pick. But instead, they battle and go 7-10 and get 12.
[00:41:21] And no one's there that they need at 12, so they just take someone. Well, I don't know if I – We don't even have a first-round pick. I don't want the Colts to – yeah, if the Colts had the number one pick, I'd be scared they're going to take DJ Lagway or something. Oh, no, baby. Don't put that – Look, we ain't even got a first-round pick. We ain't have one last year. We don't have one this year. And that was part of the Salt's Garden trade. Which we might have got rid of Mitchell a little early.
[00:41:49] I know he cost us the game and was on some, but I think he was a young talent. Oh, yeah. That was the Rams game, right? Yeah. With the old. Yeah, I remember that. You know what I'm saying? All right, so let's look at some schedules. You know what I'm saying? As we keep the conversation going, let's start with the Texans. Since, you know, Q and Raf said, fuck the Jaguars. You know what I'm saying? Let's look at the Texans here. So, you know, week one, interesting, right? We were talking about this the other day a little bit.
[00:42:16] Like, for whatever reason, Houston plays Buffalo really well. You know, Josh Allen just always has a hard time. In his career – and I know I don't like to do the quarterback record thing, but, hey, this is a podcast, whatever. You know, Josh Allen 1-5 in his career against the Texans. So, you know, that's a tough start for the Texans, though, because, you know, you look at three out of those first five. Granted, they're all at home. But those are tough opponents to kind of start your first five games with if you don't have an offense.
[00:42:46] Absolutely. Yeah, Buffalo, I think the Josh Allen thing is that he makes so many plays outside the pocket that he might bail, and then he's realizing, oh, these defensive ends and these outside linebackers run like safeties. So, he can't do – he can't just, you know, just be out there playing around. Like, he has to get rid of the ball.
[00:43:12] So, there's a lot of – a lot of plays end up over quicker than he's expected because, you know, Josh can roll, and he's waiting for Dawson Knox or Kincaid or somebody just come open far enough downfield and throw it as far as he can. Houston doesn't allow him to sit there and, you know, reset and reload and make that throw. So, I think that's the thing that happens with Houston. Cincinnati, I got to see it to believe it. It always sounds good. It always makes a lot of sense.
[00:43:40] I think we talk about Burrow and Jamar Chase. I kept thinking that Tee Higgins was gone. He's still there. So, it's like it looks good. It looks the part. It looks like a perfect Madden lineup. But then you get them out there, and the defense looks – they just look so off. You know, and I got to see it to believe it, man. I mean, we talked about all the additions that they made. I just got to see it. Well, I was going to – well, I was going to – I know he is right.
[00:44:09] I was going to – well, I was going to bring up, like, Houston has one of the better secondaries in the league. You know, like, we look at Will Anderson, Daniil Hunter, and all that, you know, but – that's funny. But you also, you know, they got Derek Stingley Jr. back there, you know, who's putting his hat in for the battle of best corner in the league. You know, they got Jalen Petray, Kamari Ramsey, Lassiter. You know, they went and got Reed Blankenship in free agency.
[00:44:37] So, I think it's going to be even harder to move the ball on that Texas offense because now, like, it was just Stingley at one point. But, yeah, Cincinnati's defense, they got more than just him. They got more than just him. Go back to Tuesday or Friday's episode, and you'll learn all about the Bengals' defense. Do your research. Do your research.
[00:45:05] But what you got, first five here, what you thinking? Me, I think – I just feel like going back to last year, remember how Houston started kind of slow? I think they started, what, like 0-3? 0-3, yeah. And then the schedule got soft. I feel like Buffalo might come out – I feel like Buffalo might come out, like, with some tenacity.
[00:45:33] I know Texans has a tough defense, but I think Buffalo might come out there with some tenacity and might try to, you know, try to steal one on the road. And I think that next game I can see – because you never know, like what Ralph was saying, you never know what you're going to get out of Cincinnati. On paper – Well, you know, it's interesting. Well, it's interesting because Buffalo has a new head coach, Joe Brady, but he was the offensive coordinator. So, D'Amico O'Brien's and that staff is still, you know, I guess, familiar with him, if you want to say that.
[00:46:03] They're geared to stop those plays. I got four on one. Who's the one? The one is Buffalo. I think Buffalo is the one. Like you said, they start slow. I got the one is Dallas. Interesting. Dallas is another team, like it always – like, yeah, you never know what you're going to get. You know, it's like I was opening a bunch of different – I was doing laundry shopping
[00:46:32] and I was opening up little things. Some of them was full to the top. Some was like halfway down. I was like, oh, second of all. I was almost – I thought about just dumping one in and filling it all the way up, get the little beads. But that's what I feel like with Dallas. Like, you don't really know. So, I say four on one most – you know, because NFL teams, granted, Houston is. Yeah, I just – So, I got four on one. Yeah, I got four on one. I got their second loss.
[00:47:00] I got Jacksonville is their second loss just because of that Jacksonville one. You know, flip a coin. It looks like it's an overseas game. Oh, it's one of those 830 in the morning games? Oh, well, if it's – If it's London, I'm going with Jacksonville. I was going to say the same thing. Jacksonville loves winning overseas. They leave them in London. Like, Jacksonville played back-to-back games in London a couple years ago. They just stayed out there. They flew out there to the good of the week. Back Scott. Backs. Yeah. They just stayed out there. So, yeah.
[00:47:30] I got them – I got them – I got them – I got them starting 4-1. You know, I think the Giants game could be a little tricky, you know, just because of the Giants defense and the pressure that they can get on a quarterback because that's the thing, right? The Texans went out and made some offensive line moves in free agency. They went and got Wyatt Teller and Braden Smith, but he's hurt now. You know what I'm saying? So, we're going to have to see how that works out for them. But that game at L.A. I got as a loss as well.
[00:47:59] So, I think that as you get past the bye week and all that, Houston could be somewhere around 5-3. 5-3? Yeah. Hold on. Let me – Hold on. Hold on. Oh, after the bye – Yeah. Okay. Yeah. See, I got a loss at Buffalo. I got a loss for Jacksonville. Yeah. So, 5-3. But then they go on a tear.
[00:48:27] Their schedule kind of eases up. But Baltimore, you think they're going to be good. But I think sometimes we see the purple and black and just assume that Terrell Suggs and Ed Reed and Nada and Tony Saragusa are coming through the building. And it's like it's a different wave. We've got the same type of players and the same mindset. But it's not the same results that we were just seeing. I like it, Mike. But I got to see it.
[00:48:59] Yeah. Yeah. So, man. Yeah. But I got Houston going on a nice little run. Hey, y'all want to take a trip to Cleveland? $19 tickets. Dang, that's real. I think for 50, it lets you call and play. Hey, so how much are the tickets if Shador is the quarterback? $219.
[00:49:29] All right. So, then they... So, hold on. Going into the buy, where did you have them at? I had them 5-3. So, I had them losing to Dallas. I got them losing to the Giants. Because it's the NFL. These things happen. And then I got them losing to... Oh, no. LA is after the buy. My bad. After the buy. So, you had them what? So, I got them 4-2. Or 4-2. Or, hold on. Let me map. Yeah, 4-2 before the buy. Yeah, there you go.
[00:49:58] 4-2. There you go. And then I got them losing to the Chargers. They got seven games. So, it'll be 5-2. 5-2. 5-2. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. I got them at 4-3. I got them at 4-3. Yeah, then I got them beating Cleveland, Indy, Baltimore. Hold on. Time. I'll back it up. Yes. Beating Indy. Yes. You think they're going to sweep the Colts then? Yeah. Jacksonville might, too. Because we know y'all ain't winning in Duval. So, you think two division opponents are going to sweep them?
[00:50:27] So, this is my thing about the Colts, right? Because I know... Look. I'm from Baltimore and everything. I don't want to come across as a hater, right? So, let me flesh this out a little bit. So, Daniel Jones is going to need a couple of games to get back into the rhythm, right? And they start off with Baltimore, Houston, Kansas City. So, the Colts could be looking 0-3 dead in the face. You know what I mean? Maybe 1-2. I think 1-2. So, who do you think it's going to be then?
[00:50:56] Would you say it's going to be the Ravens, the Chiefs, or the Texans? I think they beat the Chiefs. Okay. That's what I mean. So, I think 1-2. At Arrowhead? Yes. Yeah, that's tough. That's tough. Hey! Did you not watch the Chiefs last year? They lost a lot at Arrowhead. Those did. Or actually, so you being disrespectful again. First, y'all disrespected to Jaguars. The place is called Burrowhead. Okay?
[00:51:25] Burrowhead. Oh, my goodness. I got to look Burrowhead. They've looked real good the last six years talking about Burrowhead. And that is the question, Mike. You know, can, you know, Danny Jones, like I said, he's going to have to get into the rhythm. But a lot of what they were able to do was based off of the threat of his legs, too. So, until he shows the track. Even though he really didn't run as much as, like, people thought that he was going to be running. It was just, I think it was just the threat.
[00:51:55] Yeah, but it's still the threat of it. Yeah. Yeah. And I would like to see some more DJ Giddens this year, too. You know, get JT a spell. You know, don't wear him out. I think I can see that. I think I can see that. I mean, we know JT is a bell cow, but I think they're going to give him a little more There's no reason your running back needs to touch the ball 30 times a game. Yeah. Well, I think.
[00:52:19] Not with the way you can pay them and you can stock them and where you can find them. Your practice squad. It's like, you're. I get it. They want to get the ball to them. But it's every year a running back touches the ball. I think it was like 400 times. I think 400 is touches or is it 300? I think it's 400. I don't know. How many he touched it last year? But I'm just saying, like, the year after a guy goes like three to 400 touches, it's always,
[00:52:49] you know, part of the plan, touch and go the following season because of that wear and tear. Then the expectation of what the ball. I think it's like 400 carries. Like 400 carries. Yeah. 400 carries. He's the offense out of the backfield, too. So after Baltimore, they should be able to, you know, you would think they could handle Pittsburgh. The only problem is the date starts with a 12. So it's going to be a little chilly out there, you know, up at Accenture Field, not Heinz Field, but, you know, Accenture Field.
[00:53:20] It's going to be a little cold out there. I think they still beat Washington, though, beat Jacksonville, and then I think they're going to lose at Philly. Lambeau's going to be tough just because of the weather. But I just don't believe in the Packers this year. You know, obviously, Micah Parsons will be back into the full swing by then because, you know, next to last game of the season.
[00:53:43] So I think that at best, at best, the Texans could, with a couple of breaks, they could go 12-5. You know what I mean? But with breaks, with breaks. You know what I mean? But I think 11-6 is probably more likely. I got 12-5. But I have my losses for them. Open a week, Buffalo, at Jacksonville.
[00:54:10] The Chargers, just because, like, I had them on a – basically, they would have been winning five out of six games against some tough opponents. It just doesn't seem – it's not an NFL kind of trajectory. It just doesn't really happen at all. And so to be able to try to project that was like, nah, I'm not – stay calm there. But then Philly and Green Bay. Green Bay is my – that game that they shouldn't lose. And it being January 4th, you have no idea what the weather could be in Green Bay that day.
[00:54:39] It could be negative 12. You got to play that game. And at the end, it's a night game. So it's like it's going to be even colder. So, like, I think that's one of those games where just home-field advantage is going to be the ultimate decider. Yeah, if they lose the division, it's going to be because of these weather games at the end of the year. Because I think, like, three out of their last six or something like that are in that weather. Yeah, it gets cold out here too. They got the game at Philly the week before then.
[00:55:08] So that'll be cold. At Green Bay, that'll be cold. And they'll be back home for Tennessee easing to the playoffs. So what you think, Q? What you got the Texans finishing with? I got them at 11 and 6. Okay. See, I thought you was going to say something crazy the way you reacted. Yeah, me too. You said what? I thought you was going to say something crazy. When I first said they could go 12 and 5, I thought you was going to hit me with, like, 8 and 9 or something.
[00:55:37] No, I'm between 10 and 7 and 11 and 6. Because I got them losing to the Bengals. I got them splitting one of the games with the Colts, probably at Indy. I got them losing to Jacksonville over there at their second home overseas. Yeah, right. They've been trying to get Jacksonville to London for years. I have them losing at the Chargers.
[00:56:08] Okay. I see the Ravens as a loss. I think the Eagles and the Green Bay Packers because the weather. Those are the ones that I'm looking at. All right. Well, let the disrespect continue. Let's look at the Jaguars here. You know, since y'all got beef with the division champs. You know what I'm saying? Week two, right? Ooh. Week two.
[00:56:37] Watch out for them. Bo Nixon and Bo. Jacksonville must have pissed somebody off. Cowboys going to get them, yeah. So, yeah. I don't know, man. This is a tough start. You know what I mean? And like I said, last year they relied on a lot of turnovers. You know what I mean? I just think that they can't repeat that again. You know, they were 32nd against the run last year. How many teams in the NFL again?
[00:57:08] 32. Okay. And they didn't really add anything of note defensively to make me think that that's going to change. You know, they still have Josh Hines Allen, you know, who will get after the quarterback a little bit and Trevon Walker. But, you know, I think that's about it. You know, I don't think Jacksonville added, like usually when you see a team come out of the blue the way that they did, you might see them kind of grab somebody that makes you
[00:57:36] think, okay, they're going all in now. Or they believe. I don't think Jacksonville added anything of note. They're pretty much the same team. But they lost ETN as well. Yeah. 32nd against the run. You should have been calling Dexter Lawrence agent. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I mean? So the other part of this schedule is out of their first 11 weeks, they only play three games in Jacksonville because they got the overseas games.
[00:58:04] I mean, they're back to back and they're overseas, but one of them's against the Eagles. Like, you know what I mean? So I don't know, man. This is tough for Jacksonville. Yeah. Their schedule isn't favorable at all. It starts. It starts off. You have. Yeah. I think he's going to play corner this year. They've been saying. Yeah. That's your layup. Then you have the AFC championship matchup back-to-back weeks.
[00:58:29] The probably a lot of people's front, you know, front runners to win the AFC Norths and Cincinnati. Then you come back to Philly. You're probably your NFC East champion. And then your potential AFC South champion. Granted, it's a division opponent. And then you get the bye. And then you get another division opponent. Granted, it's at home. But then you get Baltimore. Another layup of Tennessee. I think the Giants are a layup.
[00:58:56] And you book in Tennessee, New York, and Tennessee again. That's the only reprieve they have in this entire schedule. But that's the only part where I can confidently say, yeah, they're definitely going to win those three. I got them beating Houston, Philly, and I got them beating Cincinnati, Philly, and Houston. Like I said, I don't really have that much faith in Cincinnati. I don't know, man. This is rough.
[00:59:26] Philly has to figure some things out. You think they're going to beat like that two years in a row, Cincinnati? I think at best. It's six years in a row. We're at six years now. I think we think it's only two years. But that Super Bowl team is still there. Tee Hegan, Jamar James. Oh, my God. Like I think the Cincinnati Bengals team that went to the Super Bowl, the remnants of that are still, the coach is still there.
[00:59:54] So I don't really think they've changed much. So me being 50-50 is like, this is what we expect. This is what you've given us for the last six seasons since the Super Bowl appearance, which I think they were very close to winning. Yeah. What Super Bowl? Is that like a new WWE thing? I don't know, man. Like I think Jacksonville got a hope for three and three at best to start out. Three and three? Well, who's that team again? Who's number one? Cleveland. Oh, Cleveland.
[01:00:24] Yeah, they get Cleveland to start out. They go to mile high. I want to give them New England because it's at home. But, you know, they could lose that game. You know, I got them losing at Cincinnati. I got them losing to Philly. I got them three and three. I'm looking at that. Yeah. And then that Houston game is real pivotal. Like, you know what I mean? They probably won't lose two in a row overseas. But, you know what I mean? But that's tough. Yeah. Hey, you know what, Mike?
[01:00:54] That's what I said last year and it wasn't true. Yeah. You know Philly always gives up a – they give up a silly game. I think – Yeah, but I don't think Jacksonville is an early game. That's like the – Like, they lost – When they lost to one leg – How much did they give them all to Saquon?
[01:01:24] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, but Philly, like, every good team gives you one. You got to travel overseas. How's your schedule? When do you leave? All of that stuff. Jacksonville is going to be there for two weeks more likely. They might even leave early to get settled. They're like, yeah, we're going to be here for two weeks. You know, so I think – And they're used to that game. They're used to that environment. That's a stretch, Mike. Put it down. Whatever you're drinking, whatever you rolled up, that's a stretch. And then we got – And then we got – And then we got the Colts.
[01:01:54] They got the Colts coming out the bye week, you know, at Baltimore, at Tennessee. They just got a lot of road games. Just like a lot of non-Jacksonville games going on here. They get the three in a row, you know. And, you know, Jacksonville, even though they're at the top of Florida, that's still a lot of travel. You know what I mean? Going to some of these places. Going up to Baltimore. Going up to New York after coming from overseas.
[01:02:21] And it's kind of what I was thinking about San Francisco, right? We were talking about all the travel that they're doing, the two overseas games. Their schedule is ridiculous. It's kind of that same thing. Yes, Cleveland will have more fans than USC did this weekend, 100%. Yo, the tickets are free, by the way. I texted my boy, Rob the Mexican. The tickets, they were giving away the tickets. It's just people said it was too hot. It's 95 degrees.
[01:02:51] They had the number one recruiting class, and they couldn't fill the stadium. And they were playing another California team at that. But, you know what I mean? But then it goes. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So then you got – it was a guaranteed win, too. So then they – after Tennessee, after they get their second Tennessee game, they go to Soldier Field, you know, Pittsburgh on Monday night – or, yeah, Monday night football. At Houston. At Dallas. Washington. At Indy.
[01:03:20] So, like, at best, I can get to 10-7. At best. Let me count it up, man. I might be looking 9-8. I'm 9-8. I'm 9-8, 8-9, 9-8, somewhere there, just because I think they play – That's tough. It's – like, they're playing – like, you talk about the distance, and then they're back – like, they're a tough stretch.
[01:03:44] You got to – like, if Pittsburgh really works with Aaron and McCarthy, that's the stretch of Chicago, Pittsburgh, Houston, Dallas. That's a four-game stretch, three of them on the road. That's a tough stretch to win all of them, especially when I got you – I got you beating – I got you winning against Houston early in the year. I'm going to give them the – Houston the home game, like I said, division opponent coin toss.
[01:04:13] But that's the stretch of Chicago, Pittsburgh, Houston, Dallas. Washington, we know all the ailments they're going to have with the offensive line and making it that far and maybe being stuck with a lame duck coach. So that might be a win. But, yeah, they have tough stretches. And then – so, like, the thing I don't like about Jacksonville, like I mentioned, their lack of pressure on the quarterback. They can't stop the run.
[01:04:42] And I don't like their secondary either. You know what I'm saying? Like, you know, I mean, they got Travis Hunter back there, I guess, but I'm not a fan of Monteric Brown. Jordan Lewis is a good depth piece. But if you're relying on him to be a focal point of your secondary, I don't think that's the stage of his career that he's at right now. They got Caleb Bransaw, the rookie – or he was a rookie last year. But he got hurt from Tulane. So this is year one for him essentially.
[01:05:09] So, like, I think this defense is going to be, dare I say, bangle-like. Oh, man. What did y'all end up with there? I got 9 and 8. 9 and 8. Man, I'm looking at – man, we are all right there together. I'm thinking 10 and 7. I'm thinking 10 and 7. All right, 10 and 7 it is. All right, well, let's get to the team of the hour.
[01:05:39] Let's talk about the Indianapolis Colts, a.k.a. the Turn Colts. 3 and 14. No, no, no. Let's not be hyperbolic here. But, I mean, I could – I mean, realistically, if I wanted to be a dick, I could see 0 and 5 here. But I wouldn't say that. You know what I mean? Like, I could see 2 and 3 here. Because I just don't know – one, I don't know what to expect from Washington. I just don't know.
[01:06:06] You know, Jaden Daniels is back, you know, so that's a great sign. But at the same time, you know, it's just – I don't know. You know, I just don't know. But I think they lose the Baltimore to start out. You know, I don't want to play Lamar on no damn carpet. Colts are notorious for winning games they have no business and losing games they have no business. Like, for some reason, they always beat the Steelers. They beat the Chiefs the year they won a Super Bowl.
[01:06:37] Like, and the Eagles that same year. Yeah. Oh, man. Actually, you know what I'm saying? I was – yeah, I was going to ask you, actually. I forgot to ask this earlier. And I do have it actually written down in my notes. So, how would you feel about the Colts going out – depending – like, say Daniel Jones starts out slow this year. It's just like the injury is just not working. How would you feel about going to get somebody like a Mack Jones?
[01:07:13] Honestly, I'm good. I'm good for the reason of – if we're going to be bad, let's be bad. If we're going to be good, be good. What will we have? You know what I mean? Because we need to go a different – if we're bad, we have to go clean the slate and go a new direction. Yeah, there's no point scrambling to go 7-10. Okay. So, Mike Norvell style, right? How many games does Shane have to win to come back next year?
[01:07:43] He has to make the playoffs. Has to. Okay. So, even if it's 9-8, just make it. Yes. Okay. Okay. All right. So, like I said, I got him beating Kansas City at Arrowhead just because – oh, no. No, we're not getting started on Ballard. We went there already. He want Ballard gone like yesterday. He act like it's his money. He being the only reason he spent the money and the draft picks on Saras Gardner is because Miss Carly,
[01:08:14] she was like, hey, look, you got to do something with you. You own the chopping block, my boy. So, that's how that went. According to Q, it's both. You know what I'm saying? Both of them. B-O-F-F-U-M. Both of them. Both of them. You know what I'm saying? But so then we got – you know, like I said, so that first five. That's a tough start. That first five. Oh, that's tough. I think – Two and three. One of them are going to – we're beating Baltimore and Kansas City. One of them is going to get beat.
[01:08:45] Okay. I don't know which one. One of them. I say we're going to split with the Texans this year. Okay. Two on one. At Pittsburgh. We'll beat – unfortunately, I'm going to that Pittsburgh game. We're going to lose because I'm there. So, they're going to lose that game. Oh, yeah. Yeah, ask me how I know that's true.
[01:09:11] Yeah, because my wife is a hardcore Steelers fan, and her family lives in downtown Pittsburgh, so we're going to be at the game. But I think they're going to lose to Pittsburgh. It's a nice casino next to the stadium. Oh, yeah. So, you can lick your wounds there after the game. So, I guess the real question is – the real question is, are you going to split with the Titans? They possibly could, but I don't think so. We're not there yet with them.
[01:09:41] Okay. I think we should – I think that they will be exciting. It will be a close game, but I think we're going to sweep them. So, that's an interesting week 7, 8, 9 as well, you know, at Minnesota, at Jacksonville, and then at home for Dallas. That's an interesting stretch. Unfortunately, man, I live in Cowboys, Nicklin Woods. We will lose to the Cowboys. Unfortunately, that's – Yeah. Yeah.
[01:10:11] So, they get their first win of the season against Miami. No, I'm just playing. Yeah, I got them doing a little better than that. I got them starting out 0-3, though. But I got Washington, Pittsburgh, Tennessee. Like I said, once again, I'm just not a – I'm not a believer in Minnesota just yet. They're in the same boat where they're just running out new quarterbacks every year, and then they have the quarterback controversy, you know, so by that point in the season,
[01:10:39] so week 7, if it's going well in Minnesota, then this pick is probably wrong. But if it's choppy, then you're going to have the same dreaded problem with the microphone and the face of your backup quarterback because the starter's not playing well. It's going to – I think it's going to bring dissension to the locker room, so it might be an easy win. But if it's going good, it's a bad win. Then Jacksonville, Dallas, you got another layup in Miami. Losing at Houston, Giants.
[01:11:09] A very late bye for a team that's often injured. With that schedule, too. Yeah, it's very tough. But coming out of that, Philly, I'm going to give Tennessee the one at home just because I don't think they're going to sweep. So I'm giving Tennessee the game at home. Losing Cincinnati, Cleveland, and then I think Jacksonville. Week 18. Hey, how come it's $2 more?
[01:11:34] Why is it $2 more to go see the Colts at the Browns? Those that don't even make sense. They don't even make sense. You know what I'm saying? But no, but no. So the Colts, I think, are your proverbial 8-9 team. But I'm going 6-11 here. 6-11, boy. I'm going 6-11, bro. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm like, what's his name?
[01:12:04] Westbrook and Hine don't do it for me. You know what I'm saying? And I do like Deion Burks, you know. But obviously, yeah. Yeah, I like him a lot. I know he had some injuries in college. He doesn't, as fast as he is, he's not as a deep ball threat as you would think that he should be. Pause. And I don't know how much time he's going to see this year.
[01:12:31] But that linebacker, that linebacker room just has me concerned, man. Like, I just don't see, like, I don't know if they can cover. I don't know if they can. I just don't know. Yeah. I'm 8-9, 7-10. Most likely, optimistically, 8-9. But like you said, if the wheel's going to fall off, let it fall all the way off and do the rebuild. Because a lot of teams are kind of caught in the middle.
[01:12:59] They're kind of caught in the middle of this purgatory where it's like, should we do the rebuild? It's like the basketball version of the Atlanta Hawks when they had Kyle Korver in them. It's like you win enough games to get a nice, like, you still get a pick, but it's like back here instead of where it should be. The issue that I've been having with my team. The same issue that I've been having with my basketball team, I've been having with the Colts, is purgatory.
[01:13:29] I think this is another 8-9 win season. We're somewhere like that. 8-9, 9-8. All right. Let's get to the Titans real quick so we can get Mr. Logical out of here. Yep. You know what I'm saying? So let's look at Tennessee here. You know who Mr. Logical knows. I love Hart. I love Hart. Man, he was fighting for them a few years ago. I was fighting for the Titans. You know, because they keep making moves in free agency that I like.
[01:13:59] You know, like I said, Jermaine Johnson. The worst move they made was getting rid of the coach, and I was happy about it because I was like, man, get him out of our division. Oh, Vrabel. Yeah. Yeah. I was like, hold up. What? Yeah. But no, but they went in. You know, I like Anthony Hill, the linebacker rookie from Texas. I like Alontay Taylor. I like Cordell Flott. I like Kevin Winston. He's like a scud missile, you know, Sam. Like, come in, and he will hit anybody.
[01:14:28] I don't know how good his coverage is, but he'll hit anybody. They're going to be on the field a lot. You know, I like him a lot. Because they came with that rock. They're going to be 32, 34 minutes of defense. Calvin Ridley should be healthy this year. You know, they went and got Wondell Robinson. Does he even play anymore? No, let me stop. Let me stop. Sparely. Sparely. Yeah. You know, they got Wondell Robinson. You know, I do like Eric Alamonior and Chimiri Dike. He's nice.
[01:14:58] But yeah, I love him out of Stanford. Ask Travis Hunter about him. But, you know, but the crazy part about it is, is that their leader in receiving yards last year was actually Okungwu, the tight end, who's in Washington now. So this is going to be a real, like, for real brand new start for this Titans team. Yes. But, you know, I mean, and they don't get an easy start either. You know what I mean? Like, maybe you think they could beat the Jets.
[01:15:27] You know, like, maybe. Nah. I don't think they could beat the Jets. I don't believe in Geno Brown, but I don't. I went back and forth on that one. Geno Brown. If I'm going back. I mean, Geno Smith. There you go. I did the same thing wrapped in the other day. If I'm going back and forth on whether or not you're going to beat the Jets, it's like, this is not going to be a good season for the Titans, if that's the case. But, like you said, you like their additions.
[01:15:55] They seem to be able to find these players. And it's just, I don't know what I'm going to get out of them offensively. You had a quarterback get drafted, have a whole other coaching staff. And then they didn't even let the coaching staff finish the year out. I think that stymies the development of your player. Because now it's like, you fired a coach midseason.
[01:16:22] Now I have to learn whatever else this new interim guy wants to do. And then you go hire another coach. So he's already on coach number three. And he's not even taking a snap in his second season in the NFL. So that, on top of that, the guy that they hired, Robert Sala is a good coach. He's a defensive coach. And Brian Dable is a guy that just got fired. So it's like, is it going to be a redemption story? Is everybody going to learn together?
[01:16:49] Or is it going to be a situation where I don't know if we can make this work? Or if it doesn't work at all because there's too many variables that don't line up. Yeah, like I think that, you know, it could get off the rails real quick. And I think that, you know, in two years, I think we could be looking at the Houston Texans. I feel like they're modeling themselves after the Texans a little bit.
[01:17:19] But I think that Cam Ward, theoretically, when you add his legs to the equation, could have a little higher ceiling than C.J. Stroud. But, yeah, they're losing to Philly. We already know that. And the Giants are just a hard team for me to get a gauge on, right? But it's at New York, so I'll give them that. They're going to lose at Baltimore. I kind of think that game in New York, that might be a game that, remember I was telling you the Titans can be that annoying team?
[01:17:49] And you're like, man, I think that might be a game they might sneak away and get somehow. But the Giants playmakers are defensive. All the playmakers, aside from neighbors, are defensive. So, like, if you look at their top – Yeah, but how many times in that game are you going to see Jackson Dart acting like a Drewski skit? He was mad about that.
[01:18:15] But he just – listen, Patrick Mahomes did a quarterback sneak against the Chargers seven years ago. They grabbed his leg, dislocated his kneecap. I think he missed a game or two. They haven't called a run play for Patrick Mahomes since then. He scrambles and he gets out of bounds. You know, unfortunately last year he had the injury. No, no, no. But for the most part, they don't call any running plays for him because they don't want him to get hit.
[01:18:44] Jackson Dart just has to realize, dog, it's just third down. If the route's not open, roll, throw out of bounds, punt it, get him to the 20 on the other side, go on the sideline, look at the iPad. Instead of trying to run, coming up short for the first down, getting hit, and now you're in the blue tent the whole time the defense is on the field. So here's a question. So here's a quick question. Before we get to the rest of the schedule,
[01:19:13] what's the difference between Tennessee this year? And I know what I'm about to say, so just answer the question. What's the difference between Tennessee this year and Carolina last year? I think Carolina had better wide receiver prospects. Undersized quarterback, bigger offensive threats. And they have a pretty good defensive scheme as well.
[01:19:41] But that coach, because did they hire Canales? No, they had a different coach. I think that was his second year. I think that was his second year last year. So Bryce Young was drafted by a different coaching staff. Yes. And then he benched him. He benched... Matter of fact, wasn't Frank Reich the coach did? I think so. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. So they benched... Yeah, they benched... I don't even remember. So Canales... Oh, let me look.
[01:20:11] So Canales' first year was Bryce Young's second year. He benched him for a stretch. Andy Dalton played. He brought him back. So they... Yeah, it was Frank Reich. He got his lumps. And then they came out in Bryce Young's third season with the big targets. Tennessee still has to get... They got to get their quarterback, coach, everything, all that kind of wrapped up. And that's why I think it's going to be a difficult year. Like, I got their first five games.
[01:20:37] I'm going to give them the Jets game because I don't think NFL teams are going to start 0-6. So I'm going to give them the Jets game. But Philly, Giants, Baltimore, Houston, Indy, those are all losses. I think Cleveland's going to have the same problem as Minnesota with the two quarterbacks and the second quarterback being a little bit more popular than the other one. So I'm going to give them that game. Loss to Cincinnati. Jacksonville loss. Loss at Dallas. Another loss at Jacksonville.
[01:21:04] Washington, because I think the offensive line is going to be completely in shambles. And Dan Quinn's probably out of there by then. Loss to Detroit. I'm going to give them one Indy just because it's at home. I'm going to give them the Vegas game just because Mendoza's a really nice guy, but he keeps giving the ball away to the other team like it's charity. That's not part of the game. And then Pittsburgh, Houston are lost. So 5-12 is what I got Tennessee finishing the Sierra Beds. Yeah, I got them 5-12 as well.
[01:21:32] I wanted to make a case a couple of weeks ago for them to make the playoffs, but I was just being edgy. And once I really thought about it, I was like, I can't get there. I just can't get there. But next year, watch out for the Titans. Yeah, I think we all agree on this. 5-12. 5-12. Yeah, so I got Houston, Jacksonville, Indy, and then Tennessee.
[01:22:01] What did I have? All right, fellas. Yeah, I got Houston, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, and Tennessee. I had Houston, Jacksonville, Indy, and Tennessee. So about the same. Okay. All right. Well, see you on Friday, Mr. Logical, when we talk about the NFC West. Yeah, I'm going to talk about that. Yeah, we're going to talk about that and some old stuff. We're going to talk about that and some old stuff. All right, man.
[01:22:30] Appreciate you coming on the show, Q. Anytime you want to come back, you're welcome. I appreciate it. All right. Peace. Salute. All right, Q. Talk to me about Saturday. Oh, man. What did I just say about Shane Steichen, Norville? Get him out of here. Get him out of here. Oh, yeah. Mike Alford, too, right?
[01:22:55] I just don't understand why he's back to calling plays again, and it's like I really feel like I'm going to pass that now. Like we're past that. And what I've seen, because they're not, I don't know, like he never really wants to play his guys. That's why I was kind of surprised like Usmane and Singleton get out there, you know, because I'm like, oh, for sure he's going to play Wisner. He's going to play, you know, the portal guys.
[01:23:23] But the run game looked good. Daniels looks slower than what I thought he might, but he looks functional. But the O-line and the D-line do not look good. And all that talk about the Desir twins, this, that, and the third, I don't see it. I don't see it. Well, you know what kills me is you got to come out ready to play football, right? You've been waiting all offseason. You've been hearing all the narrative. Your job is on the line.
[01:23:51] You know, you got all these new players. Because I think they did bring in good players in the portal. Not necessarily stars or, you know, guys that are going to be top echelon or whatever, but good players. And I just didn't like the energy. You know, like Doak was rocking, you know, before that game got underway. By the time you got to the middle of the game, it sounded like a Miami Hurricane game when they weren't playing Florida State or Notre Dame. And you know what I mean? It was just, you could hear a pin drop.
[01:24:20] And on top of that, it made me think back two years ago, you know, the year that the playoff committee screwed Florida State over. Got out, got smashed by Georgia in the Orange Bowl, 63-3. Ready for game one next year, you got to come out with your head on fire. And I know a lot of those guys, you know, went to the NFL or transferred or whatever. But as a coaching staff, you know what I'm saying? You got to be motivated to get them out on that field.
[01:24:50] So they beat Bama last year. And, you know, it was like, okay, like we can work with this. And then the same thing. So I think the reason Norvell's calling plays is the offensive coordinator that's left over was a Gus Malzahn guy who, when we watched Gus Malzahn offenses, between the 20s, some of the best offense you'll ever see. Yeah, they can't finish the job. They finished 95th in the red zone last year. Yeah, terrible in the red zone. Yeah.
[01:25:20] So when I saw Saturday, the person that stood out to me, and I hate doing this because, you know, at the end of the day, a lot of these dudes are kids. They're kids still. But Jabril Rawls, man. Like, you know, when he came back, people were telling me, hey, this is the best corner we've had in years. You know, like, you're so lucky we didn't lose this guy. And, man, if he didn't get burnt up. He didn't even force the receiver inside. God.
[01:25:51] The other guy actually played, was playing better. Yeah, Nehemiah Chandler. No. Oh, you talking about the young guy? You talking about the young guy? No, no, he's like a senior. Jones? Was it Jones? Quinn, Quinneris? Quinn? Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I was thinking about Nehemiah Chandler because I like him a lot. Yeah. No, he, Rawls, he received a lot of hype, man. But it's just a lot of stuff.
[01:26:20] Like, over the years, man, I'm excited. I love being a Noles fan, but over the years, it's been rough. And at this point in time, I mean, like, okay, from that perspective, I can understand him calling the plays. And Norvell is one of those guys that it seems like he says all the right things at the mic. But I kind of feel like it's just time for a change because now maybe his message is just falling on deaf ears. And it's not moving the players like it once was.
[01:26:49] Like, yes, they still want to go out there and play for their coach. But, like, the message where they will run through a wall, you know what I'm saying, they might run up to the wall now. You know what I mean? It's just not hitting the same way. Well, you know, I think that – so I came into the season and I was hopeful for eight wins, you know, because I was trying to walk it out, you know, looking at the schedule, you know, and everything. And I was like, hey, I think we could beat SMU.
[01:27:19] You know, SMU lost a lot last year. They still got Kevin Jennings, though, who we saw in person. If I did that D-line – oh, my goodness. In the truth, we saw him in person. If we couldn't get pressure on a Conference USA team, what are we going to do? Right. We got to – yeah. Right. Then we get the bye week and then, of course, you know, we go to Tuscaloosa. You know, revenge is going to be on their mind. You know what I mean? And then – Got that boy out of Dallas. Then we get Virginia.
[01:27:48] You know, you saw them the other day. You know, just like – yeah, they look like 90s Nebraska or something out there. You know what I'm saying? Then you – then, you know, at some point we play at Louisville on a Friday night. And, you know, as a Florida State fan, I don't have to tell you this. You already know that was difficult. You in the rain. Yes. Yes. Lamar Jackson on Muhammad Ali Day. You know, Louisville, bad things. And then we get Miami the week after that. You know what I mean?
[01:28:17] So it's just like, who set up this schedule? Yeah. Like, at first glance, because on my Facebook page, I put up the schedule. You know, it's my background cover picture. And I'm sitting there, and I post it. And then, sure enough, people start commenting on it. And they're like, ooh, look at this cake schedule. And at first glance, it's like, yeah, that schedule is easy. But then when you think about our struggles, and then you look at that schedule, and you're like, that schedule for us isn't that easy. You know what I mean?
[01:28:47] And so for – I think Norvell is honestly coaching for his job. So I'm hopeful for eight wins. I would love nine. I would absolutely love ten. But the reality of the situation is, can we make a bowl game? Can we get to a bowl game? Can we get six games? I think so. You know, we got one already. You know, I think we get Central Arkansas. So I hope we get Central Arkansas.
[01:29:16] So, you know, so that's two. I think that we got to beat NC State at some point. You know what I mean? They've won something like five out of seven. I know. Yeah, like got to get NC State at some point. I'm not as sold on Florida as a lot of people are. You know, like they're breaking. They're bringing in a new quarterback, new system. I do like their head coach a lot, you know. And, you know, their offensive coordinator came in coming in from Georgia Tech.
[01:29:46] They're going to be tough because by the end of the year, they'll have it figured out. But I'm just not as sold on Florida as a lot of people are. And it's not just because they're Florida. I truly believe it. I think so. Coming into the year, I was thinking that we could get Virginia. You know what I mean? And now I don't know after what I saw the other day. I don't know. I don't know.
[01:30:11] Well, the crazy thing is last year when we were on our stretch of like blowing these no-name teams out. And as a fan, I'm just kind of like, man, you know what? We might actually be good because we're putting away teams that we're supposed to put away. Right? Which didn't feel like what just happened this past Saturday. Right? Even though there was that spread, we're like, it don't feel like we did what we were supposed to do. So we go in there and we're putting away teams last year. And we get to Virginia.
[01:30:39] And I'm like, what is happening? Because you kind of get that sensation like we're at risk. Like we're in trouble, you know? Yeah. But we started out 14-0. Down 14-0. Yeah. And you know, but that's the type of stuff that I'm glad you brought that up. Because that's the type of stuff that I'm talking about, right? Like going into that game, it was the 30th anniversary of when they beat Florida State, gave Florida State their first ACC loss. Tackle Warrick done at the one-yard line and all that.
[01:31:09] So that town was buzzing. They had t-shirts. They had the posters. So that's where, like when you're Mike Norvell, the message has to be, you know, we're public enemy number one out here. Like, you know what I mean? Like these dudes made history against this university. They want more. Like you can't come out flat like that in turning the ball over on the first possession.
[01:31:32] So that's the type of stuff that – because I think Norvell is a good – like he's a good X and O coach. But there were times where, like the game against Stanford. Like when they lost to Stanford last year, I wanted to just jump in front of the first car I saw. But, you know – It's like the guys kind of stopped playing though. You know what I mean? Right. But he was on the sideline. There was a moment where he was on the sideline because that was a late ESPN game.
[01:31:58] There was a moment where he was on the sideline and he was like, you know, giving them this – you know, and they were just like laughing. Like one dude was like walked away in the middle of him screaming. It was just kind of like what's going on here? So that's why I was surprised – I mean outside of the money. I was surprised that they brought him back in the first place. I think he's kind of losing control of the program.
[01:32:23] And I feel like he's never really – for me, he's kind of been like a rah-rah guy. I've never really been overly impressed with his play calling. But it's always like he could get guys to morale together and just go and go do something, right? His coaching staff – because he had better coaches I think. And now it seems like he started blaming the coaches. Like I got to get rid of this guy and get rid of that guy. At what point is it – it's you?
[01:32:51] Like you don't say there's this person. You don't say there's the players. At some point it's you. And so just for your reveal, I feel like he – I just don't think he has control of the program anymore. I just have a lack of faith there. So I'm not the most religious dude per se. But if you don't believe in God, the fact that Squirrel White is still alive is proof that there's a God. I don't know how he made it out that end zone.
[01:33:17] I have no idea how he – like I thought he got stomped like one of those – like Wile E. Coyote or something. Like he was just in the end zone getting trampled on. And no, Mike, like this is the thing, right? Who's Mike talking about? He's talking about Norvell. He's saying we tripping. Like you know what I'm saying? Like the thing about Norvell is, like I said, I think that he's not a bad coach per se. The problem is – When the ball and control the clock.
[01:33:45] It's New Mexico like – New Mexico State, yeah. The problem with Mike Norvell. This is the problem with a guy like Mike Norvell. And it's the same thing that we talk about with Deion sometimes. Like they have de-emphasized high school so much that – And Deion's doing a lot better. Like this next class, it sounds like Deion's actually bringing in some high school talent. But like they don't build continuity. So like it's one thing. Yes.
[01:34:12] When you're Georgia or Ohio State and you're bringing in new players every year. But Ohio State's bringing those new players to a team that already has Jeremiah Smith. You know, they brought in Chris Henry Jr. out of high school. There's players upon players already there. And you're just adding in supplementary pieces to fill out the roster and help out. They brought Earl Little from Florida State actually. And you don't say where's with Florida State? We're literally starting over every year.
[01:34:40] Like all 50 of the dudes that we bring in the transfer portal, we're relying on every single one of those dudes to hit the ground running for us to have a good season. Because he's not really bringing – Florida State doesn't bring in those big names, right? They bring in like, oh, this is a gym in a rough-and-a-diamond type situation. And I've heard there's some things there about the way they're going about their NIL deals. And that's probably why some of the big names are not willing to come to Florida State, you know?
[01:35:10] I've heard from people that are in their area and stuff, and they're like, it's hard to even get people to go out there. And I don't know if that's the Norvell effect or whatever it might be. But at this point in time, we're really not getting the names. Like I really didn't like him getting rid of Patrick Sertain Sr. That was a pipeline. That was a big one. To get some elite secondary there, you know? Which also, since we're on the topic of coaches, what do you think about this Tom Herman situation?
[01:35:38] I think Tom Herman is there for when they fired Norvell to close out the season. That's what I think. That's what I think. The same reason that North Carolina went out and got Bobby Petrino, you know what I'm saying? Because if Belichick can't keep it going, and I know they got the win the other day, but if North Carolina starts out, you know, two and four or something like that, Belichick's gone and Petrino's in, I think it's the same concept. Yeah.
[01:36:07] I said, I said, I said, Herman, and I was like, that's interesting. Because he was a hot name, and he kind of fills it out. But I think he's still a mind, you know what I mean? And the guy here as well. Well, you know, the thing about it is, like for me, it's not even the fact that they brought Herman in. It was when they brought him in, you know what I mean? Like if he had started the offseason at Florida State, maybe I just think, hey, you know what? You went and got some experience, another coach to kind of help out a little bit.
[01:36:34] But they brought him in, like, what, a month ago? Yeah. So it's kind of like something's not right here. And so, like, to that point, though, about the players. So, for example, we went and got Chris Jones at linebacker. I like him a lot. But the problem is that he can't be effective because, to your point, the DeSere twins, you know, and then Rylan Kennedy was supposed to be another one that we got from Texas A&M.
[01:37:04] That was supposed to come and put heat on the quarterback. Well, Chris Jones can't get loose if they're not doing their job. Because if you can stop them, you can neutralize Chris Jones and put resources on him since they're not giving you a reason to block them in that way. You know what I mean? Like I mentioned Nehemiah Chandler. Like he almost got burnt on a play the other day too. Like we were legit. We were legit.
[01:37:33] A dropped pass in the end zone. You know, that half-back pass. And if you go back to the second quarter, there was a play right down the middle on fourth down and the receiver just either ran the wrong route or the quarterback. They miscommunicated. Yeah. Those two plays that we're talking about a 17-17 game in the third quarter. So the score looks pretty. The score looks okay, 34-17. The game wasn't like that. Yeah.
[01:38:02] The game wasn't like that. Now, Florida State did dominate. But the thing that concerned me was 10-17 on third down. You know, I can accept that against SMU with a guy like Kevin Jennings who can use his legs. You know what I mean? And has talent around him. Against New Mexico State, no. It was just so crazy. I don't know why we brought in Ashton Daniels of all the quarterbacks that we could have got to because he hasn't been successful anywhere.
[01:38:31] Who would you have wanted, though, because they brought the dude from – I actually would have liked to start Sparry. Oh, Calendria? Yeah, he went to Nebraska. One of my guys, we talk about that, and he was like – he's a huge Florida State fan, too. And he's like, well, you know, Norvell, he recruits his guys, whatever, but he never plays them. Right. So it's like, man – because how many did we lose in the portal? Because that whole situation when – once I got Travis on, Travis got hurt, right?
[01:39:01] He gets hurt, and then those quarterbacks come in, another guy gets hurt, another guy comes in, and then they all leave. Like one went to San Diego State. Was it Duffy? Duffy went to San Diego State. Yeah. And then you had Cromerhawk go to Mississippi State. And these guys were supposed to be legit like – And he's somewhere else now, too. More of a new talent. Yeah. Yeah, he's not even at Southern Miss anymore. But, you know, Mike, I done told you this once. I done told you this twice.
[01:39:29] I'm tired of you not sharing the stuff with me. You know what I'm saying? Like I don't know what you'd be doing, but you need to share. You know what I'm saying? Be better. No, we don't want Jackson Arnold either. You know what I'm saying? Like no Jackson Arnold either. Okay, question. I would have gained Spurrier a chance. Okay, I can see that. That's valuable. That's a fair opinion. Would you rather have Ashton Daniels or would you rather have Castellanos?
[01:39:59] I would rather have Castellanos because Castellanos at least makes a decision. You know what I mean? Like he might make the wrong decision, but he's not afraid to take chances. You know, and when you got a guy like Deuce Robinson, you have to take chances because he can bail you out. Ashton Daniels, like, so he started out at Stanford. You know, played pretty decently there, but it was Stanford. He was on the bench behind Jackson Arnold last year at Auburn,
[01:40:27] and he was already at Auburn. They brought in Jackson Arnold to replace him. Why would I want that as my starting quarterback? I don't know what the deal was there, but when he got in, he did have some nice games. He had a nice game against Alabama, and he had another nice game out there. So it's like, is the talent there? The talent's there, right? But I don't know what the disconnect is. So I'm like, maybe we can generate some magic somewhere.
[01:40:54] I think that he is a guy that, what's the word? He maximizes his athleticism. You know what I mean? Even though, like, I do think he was a little slower than I expected, but he could keep plays alive. That's his strength. You know, I don't know if I was a head coach
[01:41:22] and I brought in Ashton Daniels as my quarterback, I would already have my shit packed. You know what I'm saying? Because we ain't lasting much longer. Like, I just don't think of him, especially in the state of Florida State, like the state that Florida State's in. You know what I mean? Like, Ashton Daniels ain't the answer. You know what I mean? I don't know how Castellanos ended up at Texas Tech. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know. Because he came back with that whole situation. Oh, I know, but I'm just saying, why did Texas Tech want him?
[01:41:51] You know what I mean? Well, you got to think, what's that guy they got out there now since the Cincinnati guy? They got Will Hammond. Will Hammond's not like that, man. You might as well get you an athletic guy. You know, take a chance. That's just... Maybe. But I mean, I think Hammond's still going to start the season, but, you know. Well, for sure, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, so, outside of Florida State, you know what I'm saying? What other college football thoughts you got? You already picked your national champion? Man, I don't know, man.
[01:42:21] There's so many teams that, with the NIL and people shifting around and with the portal, it's hard to predict, you know. I think Oregon got some talent. Oregon has some talent. That's who I picked. Finally put it together? Yeah. You know, that's the beast. You know, who knows? Yeah. But there's a lot of talent there. Texas has a lot of talent, but my thing is about this, and me as a Colts fan, you know I love me some Mannings.
[01:42:51] Arch is still coasting off the name. And all these Texas fans around here, they always tell me, no, he started doing this and that at the end of the year and all that. I don't care. For all the hype he's receiving, he hasn't lived up to it. So, it starts and ends there, right? So, lots of talent there. And it also depends on how do you feel about Sarkeesian? Is he a coach like that? Like, can he get it done? You know? So, so, so what I would,
[01:43:20] what I would hate if I was a Texas fan is that I don't need my coach in July talking about if we're nine and three, we deserve to be in the playoff. He's prepping you for something. Yeah, I don't need you talking like that. You know what I mean? Now, they get Ohio State next week. So, you know, obviously that's going to be the first litmus test. You know, they get Ole Miss this year. last year? Yes. Remember that game last year? Yes. that was the,
[01:43:49] and everybody was like, oh, are they really that bad? Is the defense is this good? And we just found out that, you know, Texas is Texas still. Like, you know, like, they have all the talent in the world, but, you know, well, luckily for them, they don't play Georgia this year, you know what I mean? Because they don't want no more of that. But, but, but, I think they get Ole Miss this year. You know, they get Florida at home this time, instead of having to go to the swamp. They go to A&M to close out the year. And of course,
[01:44:19] the Red River, right? Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, Texas, Texas could legit. Be a top. Seven team in this country. And they can still go eight and four with that schedule. You know what I mean? And, and, and, and, and I think that's what Sark is getting at is that, you know, he's getting at that point of look at our schedule. So like, look at that Texas tech last year, right?
[01:44:49] They played Oregon state. They played an FCS school, you know, whereas Texas went out and played Ohio state. So the problem isn't that you played Ohio state. The problem is that you lost to Florida who went four and eight. That's the problem. That's Sarkisian. Like Sarkisian strikes me as one of those coaches that for him to win a championship, he's going to have to legit, like somebody's going to have to break their leg. You know what I mean? Like there's going to have to be a key injury.
[01:45:18] Like something has to assist him because I hear all this genius. Like he's a genius. Like he's, he's an offensive savant, but it never shows up in big games. You know what I mean? And, you know, and before he became to Texas, I used to call him eight, one Sark, you know, because that's what he would do. But, but you know, but, but now he's at Texas, he's got all this talent around him. So I think people are looking at the players and get,
[01:45:48] and they're giving him the credit for how great the players are as, I mean, I guess he's the coach. You should do that. But man, they, he's a good coach. He's Obama. Bama made the sec title game. That's the difference. Is he a championship caliber coach though? And that text, I don't think so. You, you, that's such a big brand in Texas. You got to understand like some of the best high schools are out here. Like every, the, for the people I live in Texas,
[01:46:18] right? You live in Texas people. That is the premier school in Texas to go. I can't say that too loud. Cause my wife went to tech, right? She'll, she'll come in here and get on me. Right. But that's the premier school in Texas. So you're always having all this talent. That's going to try to get you there. So talent's not an issue. Now it's like, okay, what are you going to do with it? So the coaches that get there, that they, they kind of buckle under that, that pressure. You know what I mean? Because it's one thing, either you're not getting the talent. Like that was an issue for, I can't,
[01:46:48] I'm trying to remember. Uh, when they let like, uh, RG three get away and they let Andrew luck get away. And you let these players get away. You know, those, Oh, that was the Matt Brown. The later years, James Winston, when he's letting these players get away. So they was like, okay, we got to get a guy in here who can keep the talent in state. So Sarkeesian is, is clearing all that up. He's keeping a talent in state, but when they get there, he's winning enough games, but he's not, he hasn't been able to get to that championship caliber,
[01:47:16] like big game wins. So, yeah. So, so like, I think that Texas is, I don't know why people revere them the way that they do. Like they've won that one national title since I've been alive. And you, you would think that, you know, this is that you would think they went on a saving run, you know, the way that people talk about them. You know what I mean? They,
[01:47:45] they are legit. The New York Knicks before they want, the title this past year. You know what I mean? Like all I hear about is you, you got all the money, all the resources. People say Texas is the best job in the country. Why can't anybody get it done? I think the big thing for Texas is, even though they're not winning per se, the national championships, you know, they are always like in the mix, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. In a mix. And I feel like that's,
[01:48:15] that's their branding because you know, the Texas brand is we got the talent, we got the money. Right. So we're going to be in a mix regardless. You know, they're not really that. Cause I was, I was talking to some of my friends. Cause you know, Texas, they got it this year. They, they, they, they brought in Hollywood smothers. They got Cam Coleman, who might be the second best receiver after Jeremiah Smith. You know, they got, um, the guy from Rasheem Biles, linebacker from pit came in.
[01:48:45] They got a good second. Like, like, like bro, like, like Texas is there. Like, like they have the pieces that you need to win this year. You know what I mean? I think it's going to come down to, to, to Arch and Sarkeesian. Cause I might have excuses for, for arts. Like, well, I just know they don't want to see Georgia in the playoffs. That's what I know. You know, they don't want to see Georgia. What's that? Cause they got a quarterback. Cause if arts doesn't do it, man, this year, that coming back, I don't, I don't know, man.
[01:49:15] Cause you got that, that new guy that's right. Number one. Yeah. Number one recruit. Yeah, man. He on his back. So you, you better do something. So, so I think, so I think that, I think that Texas has to make the playoff or I think coming into next year, I think we like, like what me and you are saying about Sark right now. I think other people are saying next year, if they don't make the playoff this year,
[01:49:40] or even if they make the playoff and say they lose their first playoff game. I think people are talking about Sark in the way that we're talking about him right now. Yeah. I think, I think that mask is going to come off and, and, you know, so like it all starts next week. I mean, no disrespect to Texas state who they play this weekend, but that's his name. D a bell. That's his name. Yep. D a bell. He breathing. He on his neck. Yeah. And,
[01:50:07] but I'm interested in that old miss game because that old miss game could be the swing game. Cause let's just hypothetically say they lose to Ohio state, you know, like for right now, I think they win just cause it's at home, but let's just say they lose to Ohio state, you know, and then that old miss game. Like if you lose that game, there's no more wiggle room because now a and M could get you at the end of the year. You still got the red river shootout.
[01:50:36] You know what I mean? Man, the red river shootout. You never know what you're going to get out of that game. That that's just like the iron. You know what? No bullshit. Every year that I watched the red river shootout. If I bet money on it, I say, who's the underdog. Okay. That's where my money's going. That's just the way like Texas could legit be six and Oh, Oklahoma could be three and three. I'm putting my money on Oklahoma or the other way around. You know what I mean? That's just how it works. You know, like last year, right? Like, like, I don't even know.
[01:51:06] They, they brought material back and shouldn't have, but you know what I mean? Like, uh, I don't, I don't know, man. Texas is just living here. Like, like I said, you, you know, we, we hear it, we see it. So it stands out a little bit more, but I've always felt this way about Texas, but do you think that old miss, do you think that old miss good stat? Do you think that old miss, um, can keep it going? Or do you think they just had momentum last year with all the lane kipping stuff going on?
[01:51:37] I, that's a hard, that's hard, man. I do think a lot of that was momentum because they just so amped up like, man, how could this coach, you know, leave us, you know, and now we're playing for the next guy up and we're just going, um, we're just going to keep it going. And I'm trying to remember, did they bring the, um, the quarterback back? Uh, yes. Trinidad Chandler. Yeah. Yeah. So that, that's key right there. Um,
[01:52:07] he's an older, they got the running back back to, um, you know, who was like, uh, yeah, he was like third or fourth in the nation in Russian or something like that. I honestly think like if they can rally around, uh, Chambliss, they could, they could probably, they got potential to, to, to shake some stuff up. Now, will they be as good? I don't know. You know, cause that's tough. That's tough, man. That's tough.
[01:52:38] You know, we got a good one on Sunday. You know, they play Louisville and Nashville. So, you know, that'd be a pretty good game. I mean, and a lot of people are talking about like Louisville's a sleeper, but I really think that that, who do you have in that game? I'm going to go. I got, I got Ole Miss. Yeah. I got Ole Miss in that game. Um, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't know if it'll be easy. Like, I think it might be one of those games that we're in the third quarter and we're like 24, 24. And then,
[01:53:07] and then maybe Ole Miss, you know, just pulls it out with a couple of late scores. Yeah. I can see it playing out like that. Um, I'm actually interested in Thursday night, uh, Colorado going down to Atlanta to play tech. You know, I'm actually excited for that game and see what, uh, year four of, uh, Dion's team looks like. I think Colorado is a little bit under the radar. I think people have just kind of throw them under the bus and gave up on them, but I think they're going to be a little bit better this year,
[01:53:37] but I just don't know if the record will reflect it. Right. They, the one thing they were starting to do is, you know, they started investing more in the line. I kind of think that started when they had, uh, Jordan Seton, even though he left, you know, but they think, you know, they're investing in the line and now they got Mr. Go, go offense down too. So they got, you know, Oh yeah. Brock Marion, I think it's, yeah. Yeah. Got a different look. So it's going to be interesting, you know, and Georgia tech, you know, they are the new,
[01:54:06] new management too. So yeah. Yeah. Really. Got a new quarterback, new, new coach. Like, well, Brennan Marion, my bad. Brennan Marion, Brock Marion was a quarterback. Yeah. Um, you know, no, no, but yeah, I'm excited for that game. Um, you know, I saw it, uh, Georgia tech by six and a half. So at the very least, I'm looking at Colorado to cover. Um, but I'm, I'm interested in a couple of games this weekend. I'm interested in Notre Dame, Wisconsin, you know,
[01:54:35] Luke fickles, another coach fighting for his job. You got Auburn and Baylor playing in Atlanta. You know, there's just a lot going on about this, but I know rap rap hates all these neutral site games. What do you think about the neutral site games? I mean, that's, that's just kind of, you know, as much as we get away from tradition, uh, the pageantry of college football, you know, because now you got the super conferences and you got like,
[01:55:03] you get rid of the traditional games because all the conferences are all mixed up and you, you got your East coast team flying to California to play a conference game, all that type of stuff. I think that, you know, that's always been a thing. Like the neutral site is games. And I'm kind of glad, you know, they at least keeping that go going, you know, so I don't have an issue. I'm not looking forward to UTSA and Rio Grande Valley. I'm not looking forward to that.
[01:55:31] UTSA does have Texas coming up in a few weeks though, but no, I'm not looking forward to Rio Grande. I'm looking forward to UTSA Navy. I'm looking forward to UTSA USF, not looking forward to Rio Grande. So how would you, is UTSA kind of like, you're like a team that you like with because you moved there or? Yes. It's just the local team. Yes. The local team, you know, when, when I retired, my wife actually got me season tickets to UTSA.
[01:55:59] So I started going, you know, they play at the Alamo dome. So, you know, it's loud, it's rowdy. It's just a great time. And so, so it's more like the culture of UTSA that I like. And, and I was telling somebody the other day, like UTSA and what is it? A UTSA and Texas state. Like that's becoming a thing. Like, like, like, I mean, I know there are small schools, but it's becoming a thing. Yeah. Texas. I,
[01:56:27] I know about Texas state. Cause that's, that's kind of like, I always hear the kids talking about, Oh, that's a party school and stuff. Cause my son, you know, he went to Texas tech. And so that was like, no disrespect. Yeah. That's one of the schools. They're like, Oh, it's a party school. So yeah, that's interesting. So, so yeah, yeah. I live here. They're the local team. So, you know, like I said, I started going to their games and I tell you what, like, I went to a game they played. Oh, that was real texted right there. I tell you what, but you know,
[01:56:59] they had army came. We had army come down here a couple of years ago. And I went to that game, legit. One of the best events I've ever gone to in my life. Like legit. It was so rowdy and all the army, you know, pageantry and fun and like people talking trash. It was, it was just an awesome time. And, you know, so yeah, go runners, you know, birds up, but you know, but, but, but it's also kind of crazy, right? Because my oldest goes to A&M.
[01:57:28] So it's just kind of like, I got, so Texas is just a part of me now, you know? So yeah. How do you feel about A&M? Cause everybody, the joke there, it's a cult down there. It's, it's true. It's true. Have you, have you ever been to college station? I've been to college station. Yes. Yeah. You know what I'm talking about? Legit. Soon as you get off that damn highway, every building is maroon. You know what I mean? Like, like, like people will walk up to you. Like I, I'm telling you,
[01:57:57] I was walking around college station. People were legit. Just walking up to me, showing me their Aggie rings. And like, it was just like a thing. Like, you know what I mean? Like, it felt like I was in another country for real. Well, you know, it's not really that big of a place either. So, you know, to have such a, a, a big brand football team there is, it's just, you know, a real college town. They just really latch onto that, you know? Yeah. Texas is football, you know? So, yes. Yes. And I've been waiting for Houston to,
[01:58:29] to, to, to, to amp up. I think they, I think they're going to be really good this year. I like Willie Fritz as the head coach. Um, so I think Houston will make some noise this year, but at this point, all I'm thinking about is beat SMU when it comes to Texas. Ooh, man. Yeah. That's all I'm thinking about, man. Oh, Hey, we got, we got Clemson LSU this weekend. Oh man. That's always, always like a competitive game. I don't know. Well,
[01:58:59] not always. There's been some, a couple of blowouts. You know, they played, played each other in, ball game and stuff, but that's going to be a pretty interesting game. Pretty interesting game. Yeah. Yeah. They're playing. What's the guy's name? Was it was he's, Vizina? Chris Vizina. Vizina. Right. Yeah. He finally gets this chance. Right. Yeah. After waiting all this time. So he played well against SMU last year when, uh, club that was hurt. Um, so we'll see, but Sam Levitt, you know, um, um,
[01:59:27] I'm ready to see him, you know, he got Jordan seat blocking for him. They got Jason. Do you think he, Sam Levitt? Do you, do you think he's worth the money? I don't. Um, so I don't think he's bad. Yeah. I don't think he's bad. I don't like, he's not Ashton Daniels or anything like that. Not like, you know, like Florida state. No, if Florida state had Sam Levitt, I might be like nine and three is coming, but, um, but, you know, um,
[01:59:54] it's going to be interesting to see him without Jordan Tyson and see what that looks like. And I also don't like foot injuries. You know what I mean? Like, you know, like, especially for somebody like a quarterback who might have to scramble and make some plays to avoid a rush. Like, I just don't like foot injuries. I got to see it before, before I buy it. Um, so I'm not one of these people. I've seen, I've seen a lot of people pick LSU to make the playoff this year. Oh, and matter of fact, Texas plays LSU. This year too. So,
[02:00:25] I think, I want to say it's at death Valley. Ooh, now that might change things. That might change things. I was ready. Ooh, that's tough. Matter of fact, death Valley. Matter of fact. Yeah. Matter of fact, before we get out of here real quick, let's pull up Texas schedule real quick and look at this and we'll close this up. Oh man. You know, you got some, a couple of Texas fans in the chat. You better not talk bad about them.
[02:00:55] I'm not going to talk bad. I'm just going to tell the truth. Um, you know what I'm saying? So here we go. So, you know, so they start with Texas state, you know, they get the Ohio state. So look, so I don't think Tennessee is that good. I know they're ranked, but that's still a tough trip. That's still a tough trip. Let me tell you a hundred thousand folks out there, man. Waiting on your Knoxville. Yeah. And that's the thing, right. Going back to what I had originally said,
[02:01:25] if they lose that game to Ohio state, that Tennessee game is going to be so much pressure. You know what I mean? Because you can't go to dealing and lose. Cause then your season is just about over at that point, but they get the bi-week and then they get the red river, Florida. They should be able to walk Florida, some revenge there, but then they get old miss the week after. Luckily it's at home, Mississippi state that at Missouri, who I don't think is, I don't.
[02:01:55] One thing I'm going to say about Mississippi state. Yeah. Mississippi state. They, they're one of those teams that if you let them get in the groove, they can cause you some, some issues. And they got a guy down there named Camario, uh, Taylor, Camario Taylor, the quarterback. Yup. Watch out for them. They still got fluffed off. in the backfield and don't, but don't forget, right. They Mississippi state to Texas, the Oklahoma, I mean, the overtime last year, right? That was the, uh,
[02:02:23] that game where Brandon Walker was on the sideline and everybody was making fun of them. Like, yeah, man. Like, you know, but I don't think Missouri is, is that good this year. Um, it sounds like a mod Hardy is going to have a late start to the season, but Ferret field is a tough place to play. But then they go to LSU, you know what I mean? In November. Now, now I know, I know Arkansas is not a, uh, good football team. You know, I don't expect them to be good this year,
[02:02:52] but I expect that you're going to see a good team when they play Texas. You know, if it's one thing that Arkansas lives for, they might hate Texas more than Oklahoma does. That's what I'm saying. Like Arkansas is one of those teams that I'm going to say, they're not one of those teams there. If you're a rival to them, then you better be on alert. And I mean, that's pretty, you know, of course, robberies, you know, you got to watch out with that. Right. That you're right. You, you hit the nail on the head with that one.
[02:03:20] Cause it seems like some reason, like whenever they play Texas, even if it ends up in a blowout, there are some point in the game where it gets tight and you're like, okay, what's happening? Coach, uh, Sam Pippen, you know, he got fired last year. he was doing a press conference at some point and he said straight up, like, yeah, I think these people want to beat Texas more than like, like, like, like they will lose every game period. As long as they beat Texas.
[02:03:49] Like sometimes they hate Texas more than they love themselves. You know what I mean? Like, that's crazy. And then you got the close out at a and M, you know, who, if nothing else, you know, you know, uh, and it was at least going to rush, rush, rush. They're going to get some pressure. Yeah. Looking at this schedule, I think this year they're going to beat Ohio state. I think so too. Um, I think, I think they're,
[02:04:17] they're defining it because they're not going to go undefeated. You know, they're not, no, no, they're, they're, they're defining games. It's going to be the, the, of course, the Ohio state game, but I think you got the Tennessee game, of course, OU's a robbery. Okay. I shouldn't put like this. Let me, let me rephrase it. Not their defining. I think the games that are going to make or break their season is, is going to be,
[02:04:51] I think what happens at that Tennessee game, because right after that, you got that OU game, like you said. And I, and I also think another tough game for them is going to, it's going to, it's going to be that old miss game. Right. So between that, that, that Tennessee, OU or Ole Miss, I think they might, they might get two losses overall. Cause they got Ohio state, they got Tennessee, they got OU, they got Ole miss, they got Texas,
[02:05:21] A&M, like right there. And at LSU. And LSU. Right. So you got, so if let's say I I'm taking them to beat Ohio state. Okay. I'm going to take them in a close one over Tennessee. Now, Tennessee is starting to freshmen. So, you know, we'll, we'll see how that goes. I'm going to take them. I'm going to take them in the, in the red river shootout. Okay. But I'm looking at, I'm looking at an upset at LSU.
[02:05:51] And I'm looking at that Texas A&M game as a possible upset. So let me ask you this. Since Sark brought it up, I'm not in team Texas could get into playoff. A nine and two team or a nine and three Texas team could get, can they get in the playoff? So if they're not in three, that means that they are not going to the SEC championship. And at that point in time, it depends on the three teams they lose to. I say, yes,
[02:06:20] a nine and three team could get in. So lose to Ohio state, lose the LSU and lose to Tennessee. They'll get in depending on this one thing where Tennessee, what they end up looking like by the end of the year, if Tennessee look ends up looking like a pretty decent team, then they're in. But if Tennessee looks like, Ooh, man, we were struggling. Then I think that hurts them too much.
[02:06:50] I think, I think, let me see. Tech. Ooh, that's just tough. Yeah. I think nine and three, they can get in. Yeah. Tennessee, like I said, they're starting to freshman quarterback phase on Brandon. Uh, they have Ryan Staub on their roster. Who was the backup at Colorado last year. They also have, uh, George McIntyre, you know, but, you know, Tennessee, they, they go to Georgia tech week two,
[02:07:19] you know, that could be a tough, you know, tough game. I think they could win. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think they're going to be Georgia tech and ATL. I think they beat them. They get Auburn and Bama at home. They're going to lose to Auburn. They're going to lose. Tricky. Tricky one at South Carolina. Yeah. You know, they, they go to A&M. And they get LSU at home as well. Ooh, looking at that schedule. Yeah.
[02:07:49] If they lose the 10, if Texas loses to Tennessee and they lose as many games as I'm thinking they might lose. Cause I'm looking at that schedule right now. I'm thinking they might lose four to five games. Yeah. And if that's true, if they, if Tennessee lose four to five games and Texas loses to Tennessee, ask on her. And I don't know. Like I said, Sark already put it out there. Like, you know, said if we nine at three, like he talking like that, I ain't saying he's trying to solve, you know, he's trying to soften the landing. So like,
[02:08:19] you know, it's not off with his head. If that was to happen. Yeah. There you go. There you go. Make his case now. There you go. So on that note, y'all, we will be back on Friday with the AFC West. As we conclude our trip around the NFL divisions. Thank you so much Q for being here. You know, it's been a long time coming.
