[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, uh, uh, one time I'm getting started like this.

[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you are now listening to the sound of Sports Reports As Ordered.

[00:00:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And as we travel through the nation, we find ourselves in the Midwest, previewing the Big 18.

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying? Mr. Logical got all the data he talking about.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Rutgers is gonna crash the playoff, cause he represent New Jerus, even though he was born in Texas and raised in V.A.

[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Millville to Teaneck, Princeton, Seton Hall, everything in between.

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Do not bring feelings to a fact fight.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm the man who brought the South Park to the stage.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Live from the Alamo, born left so much support out of the South Park.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Do me a favor. Like, review, subscribe. Do all the good things. Do all the free things.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And let's get this thing started with Get It Off My Chest.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_02]: So I want to know, man, like I was talking to people, right?

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And I said, you're on a podcast.

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And they was like, podcasting what?

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, yo, you ain't trying to see me on this mic though.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying? So it made me think about Noah Liles.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I was thinking about how he's getting a little flack, a little too much flack for my liking because, you know, people in one vein say,

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I want these athletes to say whatever.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want them to do the coach speak thing and like be all bubble wrapped and insulated.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I want my athletes to talk their stuff so they know what Liles came out here and was like, yo, world champions of what?

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And then y'all tried to twist the argument on him and be like, hey, we won the gold medal.

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_02]: So now we're the world champions.

[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_02]: He said the NBA champions weren't world champions.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_02]: He didn't say stack the deck against the world, win a gold medal and you get to call yourself world champion.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Mr. Lodz, why people don't know allows neck like this?

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. But honestly, I didn't think about that whole world champion of what Olympic champion until you said it when we were talking earlier.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Like that really doesn't qualify what he was saying.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Like his argument was that Denver Nuggets weren't the world champion.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: My argument that it's the best league in the world. So forth and so on.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_00]: If you put there, if you had like a UEFA Cup kind of Champions League tournament with all the top basketball teams, they would have the team that plays an NBA play was still win.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: But no one's getting slack and flack and heat and this is because it doesn't sound authentic.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_00]: It sounds fabricated. It sounds like he's clout chasing when he talks.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And we recently the believe the media piece that has him kind of in the limelight now is this conversation back and forth between him and Tyreek Hill.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And Tyreek Hill said I'm faster than him.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, but like I said, my money still will be on Noah Lodz.

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_00]: But he went he was at some kind of event and they asked him about it.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: He was like, who's this cheater guy? Like I don't even know his real name.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, guys, you know his nickname and he's one of the most popular players in the most popular sport in America.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't be sleeping on Real Madrid, Mike.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he went to play in a couple of Super Bowls.

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: He's the fastest dude in the league. Like he probably he probably has the biggest.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_00]: He has a podcast. I mean, like, you know who he is.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: You know his nickname. He's on he's on everything.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: He's on people's podcast. He puts his own videos out there of him getting juked out of his cleats by teenage kids at his camps like Tyreek Hills everywhere.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: So you know who Tyreek Hill is.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the part is like with Noah, I believe that, like I said, I gave him credit for talking to shit before the Olympics started.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he made that statement last summer.

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And then this summer was going to be his day of reckoning where he was going back it up.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And we talked about this earlier.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_00]: The issue with him is that he didn't win by the margins that his mouth was writing for him.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: He needed to win by half second, at least in both of those races or be the clear winner like at the line.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_00]: We can all see your first.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00]: The first one people still talk about the Jamaican runner had his toe over the line first, but and it's the torso first torso that crosses the line.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So he had a better lean.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: You got to win with your chest.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So he won. And then he got third in the 200 COVID wheelchair being, you know, whatever your health situation is, you got to handle it.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I personally would have hobbled out.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't want to be seen like just kind of just being drug out and wheelchair.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I would have rather just walked real slow.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: But that's the case.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: That was real Paul Pierce-like.

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: If he would have, if we talk about what his expectation probably was, I'm going to go here, I'm going to kill it.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm going to come back here.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be the media darling.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And I talked about, I just made up this thing on the fly in my conversations, like the darling scale.

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_00]: The women of the Olympic gymnastics.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't watch any rarely watch gymnastics competitions in between the Olympics.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not that common.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I know Libby Dundon LSU has a big NIL deal that was kind of pushed by the brands that were, you know, following us.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: You and this SEC sort of putting money into it.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: But we don't really follow these people.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So what happens is you you come back and you do the circuit.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_00]: You win your gold medal.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: You do Jimmy Fallon.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: You do Jimmy Kimmel.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: You're on random people's podcasts.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You're on the morning shows and you get the Fox Sports Ready, Fox Sports Channel or ESPN.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: You're doing the rounds.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_00]: You do Good Morning America.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_00]: You do the today.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you do all these different media shows and then maybe somebody you get in a movie, you get in a TV show.

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Like the media sets your value to the world after that.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I think he was trying to hedge his bet by saying, I'm going to do all this.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00]: And like Mike said, you got to sweep it.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_00]: You got to win the 100, 200 and you got to win the four by 100.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you could have gotten a four by 400 because I know he used to be a 400 runner and they were talking about that.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_00]: But you would have to be like on like this epic historic run.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Even though like you said, you know his competition, you know that ran the 200 came in sixth.

[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Because they are not the same.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_00]: The guy who won the 200 from Botswana, he came in sixth in the 100.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And then after the 200, he said he couldn't be the face of track and field because he's not loud and arrogant like no one.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the backlash.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. So I can't be a media darling if people consider you loud and arrogant, but you haven't won enough to be loud and arrogant.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Right. So I think that the problem is, is that Noah Lowes wanted to be bigger than track.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he wanted to as Stiles P would say, he wanted his name to ring bells.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, when you say Noah Lowes, you know exactly who we're talking about.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, exactly why we're talking about them.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_02]: That's what he wanted. He bet on himself.

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_02]: He didn't win, you know, so to speak.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I mean he still got bronze.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean hell, you know what I'm saying?

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_02]: But for what he was talking, you know, he needed another gold medal.

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_00]: The accomplishments didn't match the bravado.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So I think, so like I said my problem is, is that when we talk about sports, you know, whether it's the NBA, NFL, whatever sport it might be, the number one thing that we say or, you know, lament is that where's the personalities at?

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, saying everybody gets on the microphone and is a school choir boy or whatever and just says all the right things.

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't ruffle any feathers.

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's boring.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're just boring.

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_02]: But every so often you get a supernova that comes through and shakes things up.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Like we talked about Floyd Mayweather.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, we talk about LeBron.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_02]: But they had accomplished some other things.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Like even before LeBron had won titles, he had MVPs, you know, so he's like the best player in the league, you know, all this kind of stuff.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So he had the room.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And he had the opportunity every, you know, every year he had the opportunity to show this is my level in the sport that I play.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_00]: The track and field has events, but they have like circuits.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So they have like the diamond league.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And I imagine that Puma probably has a league and Adidas probably has like a circuit and there's probably certain places they go.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Like they probably go to Dubai and run some stuff.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_00]: They go to Qatar.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think everybody competes.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_00]: But the Olympics is the expectation of every top athlete in track and field is going to be there.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's where you can get your claim of fame.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So Noah Lowes can go on and win and run all these other races, but it won't have the same effect because you say same boat lost races in between the Olympics.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_00]: He just didn't lose in Beijing or Rio.

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: But he lost races in between that that people don't really think about.

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the thing Noah Lowes was looking for though.

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he wanted to be more than a every four year athlete.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he wanted to be a part of the national conscience because you know, we always talk about how a lot of these sports shows talk about the same thing every single day.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I told you, like I told you for instance, I was listening to a podcast last week.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Monday it was hey Florida State and Clemson to the Big 12.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Tuesday it was why doesn't the Big 12 want Miami?

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Wednesday it was oh the Big 12 doesn't want Florida State and Clemson after all.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Thursday was well can Louisville sneak out the conference?

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Like so it was like it was just a whole bunch of dergitated different ways to have the same topic.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So Noah Lowes is coming along like well hey, like let me jump into this and I don't see a problem with it.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, like granted it didn't work out for him, but I don't see a problem with it because I'd rather you talk shit or whatever, talk trash, lose, then win and then come after the fact.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I'm the man and try to be boisterous, a la Steph Curry, you know, who's quiet as a church mouse until his team gets a 12 point lead.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And now he King Kong dick daddy, you know what I'm saying?

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Like just walking around the court like he'd been on fire all game long, you know, say just like, you know, he had a one for nine game in the Olympics.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, he scored 36 points and everybody was like give him the MVP as if the other game didn't happen.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_02]: So, so, so like so when I so what my whole point in the conversation was, I blame us, you know, Sam because we're the ones that give this stuff attention.

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, I was talking about Donald Trump the other day, like every time something comes up.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, they say his name and he's like yo free advertisement whether whether it's good or bad. It's all publicity and I'm here for it.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. Yes.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And the thing that works for Donald Trump, it works for stuff. It works for Aaron Rodgers. It works for LeBron. It works for the Cowboys.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: It works for all these teams that they are legitimately polarizing.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And you ask me like how do you get to the state of you being polarized and like well, you got to achieve to a certain level to where you have this ultimate love affair with you as an individual or team.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Or while simultaneously having a lot of animosity that runs concurrently.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like you have Cowboys people hate the Cowboys we had a whole conversation and in the hotbox about them having a winning culture.

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_00]: You're like, oh they didn't win the chip. I'm like yeah but they won 36 games in the last three years.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure a lot of teams in the league will take 12 and 5, 12 and 5, 12 and 5 over whatever their records were because not many teams had that record.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't think that many teams won 36 games over the last three years.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_00]: We talked about Minnesota went 13 and 4 one year. Her cousin got hurt last year and now they're drafting top 10.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_00]: You know so it's like you have that kind of consistency but someone had to be like no I hate this team so much that I'm going to argue against whatever concept you have as far as being a winning culture.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And like me being neutral I'm like well this is why they get the attention that they get because we're talking about 12 wins and you feel this way about the 12 wins and I feel this way about the 12 wins makes them polarizing.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: With Noah Lowes I think he was trying to create that but you didn't have the he didn't achieve the status like if you think about like a restaurant because you're like well how come because I said before he made what he's like what about Bud Crawford.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Well you need more than just the record. You need a little flair so like like a restaurant everyone can talk about how great the steak restaurant is and the potatoes can be great the match the mac and cheese can be great.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_00]: The asparagus can be wonderful the ambiance can be dope but then the steak comes out and it's a little overcooked.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like I get it. It wasn't terrible but I needed all to work and when it all works then everyone's like yo I went to this place but it cost too much or the they were trying to be too exclusive or the wait staff was rude they weren't attentive like I wanted my steak

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_00]: cooked this way and they wouldn't change their mind. Meanwhile somebody else like yo I like the fact that didn't let everybody in. I like the fact that the wait staff was straight into the point.

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: They told him hey we only make we only cook rib eyes here. These are the sizes this is what you get. So I personally like that because like if you only do rib eyes I know you can only do that correctly but if you like oh I want it this way.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_00]: So now we have that tapestry where we can kind of argue back and forth. Noah Lowes didn't create the that buzz for people to argue for so now he looks I want to say silly but now he just looks like you just grasping for clout even though he could have a real he could be legitimately like I don't know who Zireal is but I think he's grasping for clout at this point because you didn't rise to the level of your accomplishment didn't rise to the level of your mouth and it's like why are we still talking about you?

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes and I think that he's enjoying his time in the media like it didn't go the way he wanted it to go. It didn't go the way he envisioned it and planned it out but I think that in his mind it's like hey I'm still being talked about. I'm being talked about more than I would have because like I asked you.

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: If Noah Lowes would have said hey you know what I only got the bronze in this race next Olympics I'm coming back for blood and I'm gonna get mine people will be like okay cool move on but now that he's saying the things that he's saying people are talking about him so we created these monsters.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Like the reason is because we won't let it go and now it's fashionable to shit on Noah Lowes you know I'm saying like that was time to shit on him so now everybody is just doing it because as a society we just bag on and bag on and keep on and keep on.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So if Tyreek Hill so that's why I made the point if Tyreek Hill came out tomorrow it was like look y'all I know I'm fast but this is an Olympic champion. Like this is what he does.

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Like for me to even think that I could beat him in a race. Then everybody that's shitting on Noah Lowes would reverse and be like oh he made Tyreek Hill fall back. Noah Lowes is the man so the same people that are stunting on him right now would be singing his praises and that's why it goes back to it's us.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not him it's us. Yes and I get your point there. He did what he did but we had to react to it for him to pick up and for him to continue to do it. But that's the standard for all of this. The reason that people.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm giving them attention.

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_00]: The reason that the media. We know billionaires because a lot of them are in charge of some kind of media franchise because the media is driven by the people. I think he was trying to microwave a greater buzz in this 24-7 news cycle but he didn't deliver to the level that the buzz I think he was trying to create.

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So you say you think he's content with being talked about. We see what happens when people win gold medals. They talked about Bruce Shinner now Caitlyn Jenner went into the cap line that was like 50 years ago but yet that is the only thing people know about that individual's career.

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes and he's saying that as if he didn't win a gold medal. In the Wheaties box but that's what I mean that winning that gold medal being dominant winning it in the fashion where because American men don't generally win or do well at the cap line.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: We generally do well in the sprinting. He needed to do better because we already have the recent history of both. We've already seen both dominate this was like if it like I said earlier if it was 80 something and it was like Carl Lewis is beating dudes from Ireland and Estonia and Jamaica wasn't even in the Olympics or something like that.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And he set a world record. It'll look one way but we've seen both literally run sideways through the tape beating his chest and beat men in 100 meter race by 10 meters. So it's like we've seen that happen.

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't make me get my LeBron on you think Carl Lewis can beat Noah Liles in a race.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_00]: They have stopped watches time is time since time and we'll figure it out from there. But I'm saying like so you get you when you win the gold medal when you win and you have this acclaim especially the Olympics.

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_00]: The media will then pull you up. The women's rugby team won a bronze but it wasn't so dramatic fashion. They had a superstar that was on social media.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_00]: The barfers to the roof friend of the show on a mark. So but they won a bronze was like and then if you look at when Simone Biles wins gold one of the other American girls probably win silver or bronze.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_00]: They still go on the show with their bronze medal because it's all part of a package of these girls.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So the media is rooting against them in their own country.

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_02]: No one else first right. I mean funny how that works. But, you know, moving on now.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_02]: It's time to talk about some football.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_02]: So, the big 18. We got the reigning defending national champion Michigan Wolverines without a lot of parts that they had to defend their title.

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_02]: You know we got Ohio State is Ryan day going to lose his job if he loses to Michigan this year.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You know we got Nebraska are they going to research is USC finally going to play defense. These are things you know that we have the answers to I think we'll see.

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_02]: But let me just go ahead and say you know so the other night I was talking about the big 12 and I said hey like six or seven teams can win this thing.

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_02]: It ain't like that in the big 10.

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It ain't like that we got three max and to even make a bowl game in the big 10. The biggest question is, which one of y'all gonna score 20 points consistently.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know that's how you make a bowl game in the big 10 you gotta score 20. So let's take it from the top, you know, let's start with the national champions.

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_02]: No JJ McCarthy.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_02]: You know no Blake Corum.

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Santa Strel gone.

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Chris Jenkins gone.

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_02]: But guess what, Michigan still got the best corner in the country.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Will Johnson, they still got Donovan Edwards as Dallas might just let us know, and I was about to say, you know, saying, but the problem is no receivers, who's going to play quarterback, is it going to be the one and only jack Tuttle.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Or is it going to be Alex orgy and his parents know they could have put another vowel in that name.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You know saying so, Alex, Alex Oh Tyler Morris is gonna be Tyler Morris, you know I was hoping for orgy because you know well, not that I want to keep saying his name, but he brings that dynamic element to the offense that I think gives Michigan a different look.

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_02]: You got a new head coach now. So are we keeping the same identity, or is it time to move forward, you know because if you start jack Tuttle or Tyler Morris cover your ears Mike, you might end up as like a souped up Iowa.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_02]: You know where you're going to play defense ball control, smash mouth. But what I do like about Michigan this year.

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_02]: They got eight home games.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And out of those eight.

[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Their first five games are at home.

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but they got a top game including week two when the boys from Austin come up knocking.

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's the problem and what you have certain levels of certain levels of sport.

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_00]: If you have one type of player like if you're a youth football, and you have a running back that can just make people miss.

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_00]: You're, you're going to win games because like yo, just give them Mike Mike, let them do his thing. And then Mike Michael make a bunch of people miss and now it's a 70 yard touchdown for an eight year old high school if you have a dynamic wide receiver quarterback

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_00]: combination, just throw it up Calvin's down there somewhere. Just throw it up and they'll just out jump someone and college football if you have the season quarterback.

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to not get rattled.

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And he's gonna lead, he's gonna lead a team especially team like Texas with talent. I think when yours is going to have a field day against Michigan in the second week, because you got Michigan to win.

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm thinking I'm taking Texas win that game, mainly because my whole narrative about following the legend hardball came there is students culture.

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Now you got to follow the legend it's gonna be a tough year.

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think any other schools I mean got USC to lost their quarterback, but they kept their head coach.

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Oregon kept their coach. Yeah, Ohio State you know so you have like three or four games where you can be completely overmatched.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_02]: So here's my question about Michigan, because I think their defense is still going to be lights out. I think they're going to push and bully people around, you know, but the question that I have is, is there a certain

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Is there a certain distraction level.

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_02]: You know that Michigan has to deal with because, you know, I know I invoke the name of the Cheeto earlier, but Donald Trump Michigan is that Donald Trump levels of denial that they did anything wrong with this NCAA case.

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Post in NIL but like all kinds of violation.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Is there any residue left over, is there any residue left over like as far as you know how they want to feel is depends on the powers that be and if they want to throw a shit storm ship parade on hardball's legacy.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Because if they were true morning with no games you know hardball was coaching coaching that shit. So wrong was just in the stadium.

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_00]: There's text messages and hand signals that will be in sent around like there's no way a head coach is not going to shout out the carner stallions who somehow is a high school football coach now.

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that means he's dedicated to winning for that sheet you're not trying it honestly it might be a situation where we talk about Donnie he would talk about the documentary and he was like oh he was a lone wolf. He's the only referee out here, you know, work like that's that's not real but you don't want to talk at that threat.

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I think Michigan might be one of those two big the fails. They'll probably get slapped with some, it might be some more investigative reports that come out. But from what I can guess from the way things have gone for these top high level elite level schools.

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_00]: They don't want to shit on the coaches reputation because they kind of soils their product that they put out for the last three or four years. So if you will, if you basically do this investigation, say it investigates me going on this long, and it goes back six years or something like that

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So you mean you let Michigan do all this stuff to keep them on TV and keep them in the playoff and keep hardball getting paid and so forth and someone knowing it was this bad, then that's on you that's all you other people in the room so other people got to go and I don't think

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it's just one of those things, you know where I'm sure if you're a non Michigan fan like if you're an Ohio State fan, you know somebody like that I'm sure all this is like, you know the greatest thing in the world for you but you know as a Michigan fan

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_02]: You don't really care. You got the national title. You're not taking it away. And if you do take it away, everybody saw us win it so you can have it.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is, you know, it's the silliest thing that they do. What's going on right. It's the silliest thing that they are that they do in college football when they take away to wins is like yo we saw

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Just like Reggie Bush

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Heisman

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we like I personally thought Vince Young to the one it because I felt like he was more, more value to his team with less weapons. I mean, a lot of Texas. So what he was doing for his team offensively. I think a game without Reggie Bush USC probably still wins.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It just won't. They won't have the 50 yard big play, but Lindell White was still he would have three touchdowns to the tooth. So because yeah something like that. So, so I think it's so dumb.

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_02]: So Michigan does have an interesting schedule. But like I said, they have eight home games. So what does it mean. That means they get Texas at home. You know they start off with Fresno State who could have been upset pick if their coach didn't have to step down.

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_02]: They get USC at home two weeks after the Texas game. They get Minnesota for the little brown jug the game that only I care about. But then they go, they go to Seattle the next week. You know we'll see what Washington is they get Oregon at home on November 2

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And then the big one they go to Ohio State. So all the teams that could give them trouble should give them trouble outside of the Columbus boys come through and armor. So if you're Michigan, like anything less than 10 and two is a disappointment.

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So if you lose the Texas, you know, like Mr. logical said, and you lose the Ohio State live with that, you know, saying like if you go to the two, you lose the Ohio State USC Texas USC. Yeah, fine. You come out here and you lose Washington or Oregon.

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that came from the Pac 12 smaller teams that they're not medium beefy pause. Yeah, most big 10 teams champagne. You can't lose a champagne like you almost did two years ago. You can't do that.

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so, so like now it makes me wonder. Like I said, you know, we'll see who the quarterback is and I think Michigan is still live to win the big 10. I just don't have them winning the big 10 because I'm a look over in Columbus.

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, San Ohio State with their alleged $13 million that they spent in NIL, which is wild to me because they went to Kansas State to get Will Howard. They grabbed the wrong Kansas State quarterback.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I should have grabbed Avery Johnson, but they do have a hell of a quarterback room in Columbus. Problem is only one of them to play at a time. They went and got Quinn Sean Jenkins from Ole Miss.

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he has 31 touchdowns in his career 2275 yards. So you know they got the best running back in the transfer portal. You know they got Denzel Burke back on defense. They got JT back on defense. I'm not even going to try to say his name.

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Jack Sawyer, you know, so Jim Knowles is building something in Columbus defensively. The question is if Ohio State somehow loses to Michigan this year, is Ryan Day gone? Is that something that you think Ryan Day thinks about when they line up against Michigan?

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_00]: See, for me, because I'm not a diehard Big Ten fan, I'm not sure how deep that wound really is as far as like Ryan Day not being in Michigan.

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So if it's that deep to where he's going to go, if that's the game, then he has to coach. He has to coach for his job in that game. If the narrative and the expectation is you lose to Michigan.

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Does that mean he goes into those games tight?

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I think absolutely. You can't imagine you go into a game where, especially last year, I believe Michigan had the talent edge. The C.J. Stroud years, I think they had a better quarterback. I just don't know.

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Well Michigan just beats them up. That's what it boils down to. Michigan pushes them around the yard.

[00:30:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And then that can be indicative of how he recruits. Now if you use that as your reason for firing him, you look and say, yo, we beat up on everybody else. Why is it that this team beats up on us?

[00:30:53] [SPEAKER_00]: And how come you haven't made any adjustments? Because you got the same film we have. You saw the same game. So it's just like, do you need to fix your philosophy? Do you need a new coordinator? Do you need to just have more moxie? Or do we need to extend you so you don't get fired, so you don't go into the game with that pressure?

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's just so many things that come up. But if it's a matter of win and you're in for the next season, then you got to win.

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_02]: You know Ryan Day's record?

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_00]: You know Ryan Day?

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_00]: World record?

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_00]: How many years?

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Well he's coached 64 games.

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_00]: He's coached 64 games at Ohio State.

[00:31:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Mason Graham is a dog.

[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_00]: He says 64 games?

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_00]: 64 games.

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_00]: 56 and 8.

[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Correct.

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh.

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_02]: 56 and 8, you know, and a couple of those are to Michigan. So there you go. But you know, but this is the gear for Ohio State as far as this is my expectation. They got their own expectations. I'm sure that include national title.

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_02]: My destiny for Ohio State is y'all better play for the national title at the very least. You know, you better beat Michigan and you better get to the title game and see if George is waiting there for you.

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, like nothing less will do.

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm not picking it. I'm just saying like nothing, nothing less will do.

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, because if you're Ohio State and you get the Michigan monkey off your back, you can't lose to anybody else in the playoff. But John...

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean literally...

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You just can't.

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to run down there first six weeks.

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is terrible.

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_00]: And I want you to find the laws. Akron, Western Michigan, Marshall at Michigan State, Iowa at Oregon.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Right there.

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the first one?

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the one.

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the first game they have to play.

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_02]: When they go to Autzen Stadium, I think Oregon gets them. We'll get to Oregon in a second.

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_02]: But the way I have it mapped out in my mind is that they lose to Oregon in that game. They win out.

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Potentially meet Oregon again in the Big Ten title game.

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Unless another team can get there that we'll get to in a little bit.

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, so that's what I'm saying.

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Like when I look at Ohio State, you went out and got Caleb Downs from Alabama as well, who might be the best safety in the country.

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's going to be a top something NFL pick in a few years.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_02]: He's only a sophomore. It's like Jay-Z, right?

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_02]: He's only 16!

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So like Ohio State has no reason to not win the Big Ten this year.

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Like no reason at all.

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But if we're going to talk about Oregon, let's talk about Oregon.

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, Dylan Gabriel, 32 touchdown passes away from becoming the all-time FBS touchdown leader.

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, of course, you know, people are going to be like, yo, he played an extra year though.

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he was one of them COVID dudes.

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know what I'm saying?

[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_02]: An accomplishment is an accomplishment.

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, the problem with Oregon though, the reason why I said Ohio State,

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_02]: they may play Ohio State again is because they lost a ton on defense.

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_02]: They lost a ton on defense and they're trying to do the transfer portal thing to get it back.

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The good news is, yeah, Oregon, the good news is,

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: they have a booster that's going to pay top dollars for whatever player you can get.

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the best thing you can do with that.

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's beyond this year.

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking about the current year.

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm talking about the current year.

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So let's put Mr. Logical on the clock again.

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So Dan Lanning has coached 27 games at Oregon.

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_02]: What's his record?

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_00]: 27 games.

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_02]: 27 games, you know, because he plays for wins, not clicks.

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_02]: 21 and 6.

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_02]: 22 and 5.

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I'm saying?

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_02]: The funny thing about that is usually when a new coach takes over,

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_02]: you have one of those questionable losses.

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So like when Nick Saban took over Alabama, for example,

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_02]: they lost to Louisiana Monroe his first year.

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Right?

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So you look at Dan Lanning, five losses, three.

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Three of them are to Washington.

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_02]: One of them was that 49-3 shellacking that Georgia put on them in that neutral site in Atlanta.

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the neutral site.

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the neutral site game.

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_02]: That was the neutral site game in Atlanta.

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And then they lost a rivalry game to Oregon State, you know, late in the season.

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So Dan Lanning doesn't lose to teams that he shouldn't lose to.

[00:35:45] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, obviously it's going to be asking a lot to replace Bo Nicks,

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_02]: but you went out and got the best quarterback in the transfer portal.

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So most people assume that it will work.

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they did lose Troy Franklin, who was Bo Nicks' favorite target.

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, so Oregon's not without.

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_02]: They lost their running back Bucky Irvin.

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so Oregon's not without flaws.

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just that people think that they recruit so well.

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_00]: They have such a talent factory and they probably have a couple of the uniform combinations,

[00:36:20] [SPEAKER_00]: the Nike relationship.

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that has kept them because I can't imagine that the state of Oregon has a great depth of high school football.

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It's probably pocketed, you know, a couple of schools here, a couple of districts here.

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_00]: They probably don't have the breadth of talent of say like Pennsylvania or Ohio or Michigan,

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_00]: like one of these states as far as like their high school football.

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_00]: But they've always been able to recruit well.

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think being able to just the uniform combinations, a lot of that to me, honestly is enough.

[00:36:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Like if my son's being recruited, he's like, you go to Oregon State or Oregon.

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, well, there's some dope George that come out when you go to Oregon.

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And you probably play, you probably play better like they recruit Hawaii very well.

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_00]: They seem to get Hawaii, you know, play some more.

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_00]: That's where Mariotta was from.

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So they tend to recruit out of state like these certain pockets out of state that they have that they get players up to Oregon.

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And now with the money and the NIL and everything else, they should be probably one of the top teams in the Big Ten.

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I just don't know if they are big enough up front offensively and defensively to just to handle the sheer size of teams like Wisconsin, Nebraska.

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_00]: These teams that don't I would they don't generally run like spreads a cold game in Iowa was rainy and windy or even a rainy game in Oregon.

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you handle when another team like you know what?

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to throw the ball a lot.

[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_00]: We're just going to press you with our six foot five three hundred twenty five pound linemen.

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's exactly the problem for Oregon is their schedule.

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, because it starts off, you know, Idaho.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_02]: They play the Vandals, but then they get Boise the next week.

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Granted, it's at home, but it's Boise nonetheless.

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_02]: You're going into court valus to play Oregon State.

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_02]: You should be able to walk out of there with a win.

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Go to UCLA.

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And in case y'all didn't know here is your reminder.

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_02]: UCLA is in Los Angeles and USC is in Los Angeles as well.

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_00]: They've got to let the people know.

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You just got to let people know both.

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_00]: They're both football schools.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. So they go to you see they go to UCLA.

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_02]: They come home from Michigan State and Ohio State back to back.

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Go to Purdue.

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Now we've seen some seasons in West Lafayette, mostly Ohio State.

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Go down the drain.

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they get Illinois at home before they go to Ann Arbor, Maryland.

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Then they go to Camp Randall in Madison, Wisconsin.

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_02]: That's going to be a tough game to your point, especially if we get some of

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_02]: that Midwest weather.

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, we get some of that precipitation going on.

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_00]: It's mid-November so that's hit or miss.

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Mid-November hit or miss is weird everywhere.

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It could be 50 or it could just be one of those freak days where it's

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 and rainy because of that time frame.

[00:39:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But like I said, is that size going to be a disadvantage?

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and if the most talented team always won, then Oregon would be

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_02]: in the Big Ten title game.

[00:39:15] [SPEAKER_02]: It would be a guarantee.

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But you have to factor these things, the precipitation.

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, this is the first time that they've gone to some of these

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_02]: places.

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, factoring all that in with what Oregon lost on defense,

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_02]: it's easy to see how Oregon could not fall to the back of the pack

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_02]: but just not be as good as we're used to them being.

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_00]: They can have an above average nine and three season and it might be

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_00]: the best you can get out of them.

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_00]: At least, after we see how they gel because we could talk about this

[00:39:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and I understand a lot of teams when they do this, the schedule,

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I like the first two weeks being somewhat preseason games if you're

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_00]: not one of these teams that can kind of punch your ticket to the

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_00]: college football playoffs every year.

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, you know, Michigan,

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_00]: maybe Ohio State.

[00:40:13] [SPEAKER_00]: They can play that week one SEC matchup at an offsite or they can

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_00]: play that game Texas versus Ohio State.

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, before they were in the same company.

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Texas, Ohio State in Dallas or something like that.

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_00]: They can play that game week one and as long as they just went

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_00]: out, which you expect them to do because they get that one rivalry

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_00]: game at the end of the year.

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: As long as they can win out, they're good to go.

[00:40:40] [SPEAKER_00]: But these teams that generally don't get that pass essentially,

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_00]: like you lose week one or two and now you're clawing your way back

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_00]: from 30 to try to get to 15 and stuff like that.

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So I like teams like Oregon having a game against Idaho week one.

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_00]: A little tune up game and then maybe like a slightly more ramped

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_00]: up in the same state two teams from Idaho coming over,

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_00]: coming west to play games.

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And does Oregon have some of that no allows pressure that you're

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_02]: talking about?

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they starting out preseason number three and you

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_02]: know what I mean?

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like, hey, you guys are replacing a lot.

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_02]: We're putting a lot of faith in you by having you rank so high.

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_00]: They should look very good for the first month of the season.

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_00]: So by the time, because I got my proponent of like you don't rank

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_00]: teams until October.

[00:41:39] [SPEAKER_00]: That's always that's something I've said.

[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_00]: You and I have this conversation before.

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: But after that first month, I believe they start kind of moving

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_00]: teams accordingly because you can lose.

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_00]: You'll go three and one.

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Say you're like Ole Miss and they got Ole Miss at eight or nine,

[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_00]: something like that.

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Hypothetically, you go three and one in September and then you

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_00]: get a couple of bad losses in October and they're like, okay.

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you you weren't really an eight.

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to put you where we think you are.

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_02]: That's why that's why I like the top 25 is stupid to begin

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_02]: with because I'm a rank you like number three Oregon or

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_02]: whatever.

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_02]: If they go out here and lose two games, it's going to be

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_02]: they were overrated.

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_02]: They weren't overrated.

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_02]: You were wrong.

[00:42:22] [SPEAKER_02]: But you don't get to determine.

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not carrying that burden.

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_00]: You have the old dad.

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It's your fault.

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I put you in a position to win.

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't win.

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You're already like, yeah.

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, that's that's that's a little different.

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So of course, you know, if you're going to go there,

[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_02]: then you got to go over to happy back.

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Talk about the Nittany Lions, you know.

[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So this is another team that could find themselves in the

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Big Ten title game, you know.

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_02]: But a lot of things have to go right.

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Namely, they brought in a new offensive coordinator.

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he goes by the name of Oh, no, I lost his name.

[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_02]: He was the offensive coordinator at Kansas last year.

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, there he is.

[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Andy Colton, Nicky Colton, Nicky, you know, came over from

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Kansas and, you know, they're going to run the ball down

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_02]: your throat.

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's what Kansas did.

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they have Nick Singleton still.

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_02]: They still have Kate Ron Allen.

[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So the problem is last season, they put all their eggs

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_02]: into the Drew Aller basket.

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_02]: He was supposed to be the savior.

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Sean Clifford was the reason that they weren't getting

[00:43:32] [SPEAKER_02]: anything done.

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And you know what Drew Aller came out here and did?

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_02]: He averaged 6.8 yards per attempt.

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_02]: They threw the ball seven error yards on his attempts.

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So is he the savior or is it just more of the same?

[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Is this just James Franklin?

[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_02]: The good news for Penn State, the good news for Penn State

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_02]: is that James Franklin is 4-16 against Ohio State in Michigan.

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_02]: But he only plays Ohio State this year.

[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they have a very easy schedule.

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_02]: They have a very favorable schedule.

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I would call it easy.

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Easy, favorable schedule.

[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they still go, because they got that October 12th

[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_02]: at USC and then they come off the bye, we can go to

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Camp Randall.

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So that's a...

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we haven't seen USC transition seamlessly in a while.

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_00]: No, you're right.

[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_00]: We haven't seen them go from either coach moving on

[00:44:26] [SPEAKER_00]: or getting fired or quarterback getting drafted,

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_00]: talent getting drafted off the team,

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and then they come right back successful the following year.

[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_00]: We had it where they had Caleb Williams replaced

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_00]: for two years in a row.

[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_00]: They were a good team.

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_00]: We had it when they had Sam Darnold a couple years in a row.

[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_00]: They were a good team.

[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_00]: But they don't transition well,

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and I don't know if it's expectation management at that point,

[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_00]: because USC tends to...

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_00]: You have the talent in your backyard.

[00:44:52] [SPEAKER_00]: You have the cache to get anyone from the transfer portal.

[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_00]: You got the offensive genius at head coach.

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_00]: So this is going to be the first time we see,

[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_00]: can you transition and spin up another guy that's NFL ready?

[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Because technically Spencer Rattler and Caleb Williams

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_00]: both look like NFL starters with a lot of people

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_00]: seeing that Spencer Rattler should have been...

[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Should be a starter probably even in New Orleans over their car.

[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So he does have that cache of being able to groom quarterbacks.

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Kyle and Murray, Baker Mayfield.

[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll get to that.

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about it now since you brought it up.

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying like that's...

[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_02]: He brought in Miller Moss.

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_02]: He brought in Miller Moss for the bowl game against Louisville.

[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_02]: 372 yards, six touchdowns.

[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_02]: They had Malikon Nelson who was a five-star quarterback

[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_02]: committed to USC.

[00:45:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Now he's in Boise and he just lost his job to a three-star.

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, maybe Lincoln Riley knows something about quarterbacks.

[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_02]: So that could be your downfall

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_02]: because all you need is a quarterback to get hot.

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_02]: The other good thing for Penn State

[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_02]: is that they don't play Ohio State until November 2nd.

[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_02]: So that gives them time to work in this new offense,

[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_02]: to work the kinks out.

[00:46:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But it starts day one for Penn State

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_02]: because I know that we talked about how favorable the schedule is.

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_02]: But Morgantown, West Virginia is one of those places.

[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And if Penn State is not careful,

[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_02]: they can find themselves losing that game.

[00:46:21] [SPEAKER_02]: They played last season and I know Penn State won 38 to 15,

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_02]: but that game was a whole lot closer than the score would tell it.

[00:46:30] [SPEAKER_00]: West Virginia's starting a quarterback that's listed at 5'11", 195.

[00:46:34] [SPEAKER_00]: So that means he's 5'10", 165.

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_00]: All I'm saying is...

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, granted, it's at home for West Virginia.

[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I got told you, first time I've ever been to Penn State since 1992.

[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_02]: This is a big deal in Morgantown.

[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you're gonna have to...

[00:46:54] [SPEAKER_00]: You can't get pumped.

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_00]: You can't get pumped like you did against Michigan

[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_00]: where McCarthy didn't throw the ball the whole second half.

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so they brought in Tom Allen as their defensive coordinator.

[00:47:07] [SPEAKER_02]: He was Indiana's coach last year, got removed.

[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Replacing Manning Diaz from what I've researched and what I've gathered.

[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_02]: His defense isn't that much different from what Manning Diaz runs.

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So there's gonna be a level of comfortability there.

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Penn State had the number one defense in the country last year

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER_02]: as far as yards per game.

[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_02]: So they're stingy...

[00:47:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Even the Ohio State game last year,

[00:47:33] [SPEAKER_02]: they ran a fumble back for a touchdown.

[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_02]: It was supposed to be tied at 13.

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Penalty on the play.

[00:47:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And the Ohio State was in the red zone.

[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_02]: So once that happened, the game was over.

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So just saying, look out for Penn State.

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying that I'm picking them to do anything.

[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I like Penn State very much to...

[00:47:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I won't say like the Cowboys, but being relevant.

[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that 4-16 record,

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_00]: because we talked about this before,

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_00]: that 4-16 versus Ohio State and Michigan

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_00]: would probably get most coaches fired.

[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But I think there's probably a sentiment in the building.

[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what?

[00:48:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Those teams just are better.

[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be better than us because of...

[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's a great recruiter.

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_00]: The well, but the well that they can get...

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_00]: They can just get deeper into the well and get more talent.

[00:48:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think that's the thing, right?

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Lose to Ohio State and Michigan,

[00:48:30] [SPEAKER_02]: don't be out here losing to Minnesota.

[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't be out here losing to Iowa.

[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so as long as you can...

[00:48:37] [SPEAKER_00]: 9-3 and 10-2 consistently,

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're good with that because their stadium...

[00:48:44] [SPEAKER_00]: You need to do the whiteout game.

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_00]: You can't do that if half the fans don't show up

[00:48:48] [SPEAKER_00]: because you keep firing coaches

[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_00]: because you think you should be doing X, Y and Z.

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Listen, we're relevant.

[00:48:54] [SPEAKER_00]: We just need maybe a couple more players

[00:48:57] [SPEAKER_00]: or a couple of players to go our way

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and we could beat Michigan or we beat Ohio State.

[00:49:00] [SPEAKER_00]: You need a year like this year

[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_00]: where you only play one of them.

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I do like to keep the jersey.

[00:49:04] [SPEAKER_00]: You got your coin tosses, 50-50.

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, yo, if we can get Ohio State this year,

[00:49:08] [SPEAKER_00]: this could be the year that it's 12 teams in the playoffs.

[00:49:12] [SPEAKER_00]: We can make some stuff happen.

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was...

[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And we were talking about Ohio State earlier,

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_00]: fine Ryan Day.

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be a mistake

[00:49:20] [SPEAKER_00]: to fire him after this season.

[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I would see how it plays out for other schools

[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I know they just exclude you, Jim, until about 2031,

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_02]: so they shouldn't have to worry about that.

[00:49:31] [SPEAKER_02]: But I do like your comparison

[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_02]: because like I always say,

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_02]: the Cowboys haven't won the Super Bowl since 95.

[00:49:40] [SPEAKER_02]: The 49ers wanted the year before that.

[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Notre Dame wanted it in 88.

[00:49:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Penn State's last title was the year before that.

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So there you go.

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_02]: There's your comparison

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_02]: and there's your history lesson for the day.

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So let's take it over to Lincoln, Nebraska.

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, the corn huskers got a lot of hype this year.

[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_02]: People are thinking that this is the year

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_02]: that they're turning around.

[00:50:01] [SPEAKER_02]: They haven't been in a bowl game since 2016.

[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_02]: 2016, they have not.

[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Five wins gets you in a bowl game.

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, five wins gets you in a bowl game

[00:50:14] [SPEAKER_02]: if there's not enough qualified 16 teams.

[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.

[00:50:19] [SPEAKER_00]: It's been a few...

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Colorado could have made a bowl last year

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_02]: if they would have won five games.

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm saying.

[00:50:24] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's been a few teams.

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_00]: So even six wins.

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And speaking of Colorado,

[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_02]: that's the game that Nebraska's season hinges on.

[00:50:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, the bad news for them is that they play them in week two.

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_02]: So they're starting a first time quarterback

[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_02]: who has all the talent in the world.

[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_02]: He's got Nebraska lineage

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_02]: and apparently he is the Kobe to Patrick Mahomes' MJ.

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And he even looks like Patrick Mahomes.

[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Where he's 15, the school is sponsored by Adidas.

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_00]: He wears Pat Mahomes shoes.

[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Red jersey.

[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Same haircut.

[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_02]: So the thing I want to tell people though is slow down

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_02]: because it's usually year three

[00:51:06] [SPEAKER_02]: that mat rules teams take off.

[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Temple, Baylor, you know, year three.

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_02]: We're only in year two right now.

[00:51:14] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so you might want to slow down a little bit and...

[00:51:17] [SPEAKER_00]: But does that get expedited when you pull a five...

[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_00]: When you get a five star to decrement from Georgia

[00:51:21] [SPEAKER_00]: to come to Nebraska?

[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Usually it does.

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_00]: But when you lose your left tackle for the season,

[00:51:25] [SPEAKER_02]: it might not.

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_02]: So you start a new quarterback without your left tackle.

[00:51:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So that doesn't have disaster written all over it.

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_00]: You know...

[00:51:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if you're going to be at a conference

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_00]: where you need an offensive lineman

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_00]: or you're going to be in a state or a region

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_00]: where you need an offensive lineman to step in,

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the region where you're like,

[00:51:49] [SPEAKER_00]: you know what?

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure I got a nice, a literal corn husker

[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_00]: out here to step in and play left tackle.

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're a school like...

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_00]: If you're a finesse school, you know,

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_00]: where you're just playing like rice,

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_00]: you might not have a guy that can just match your tackle.

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But Nebraska, I think they'll probably get a guy

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_00]: to either slide over and step in

[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and they'll still be able to air it out.

[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I like them.

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I like them as a...

[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I like them because they got like this little beef

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_00]: with Colorado.

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's kind of fun.

[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's always been a rivalry going back

[00:52:22] [SPEAKER_02]: to the days of the Big Eight.

[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I also like that they only have Ohio State.

[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's their toughest matchup.

[00:52:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you can score 21 points against Iowa,

[00:52:36] [SPEAKER_00]: you might go from five and...

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, five, nine and three.

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I got my eye on two games for Nebraska.

[00:52:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, the Colorado game

[00:52:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and then I'm looking at October 5th

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_02]: when your Scarlet Knights go into Nebraska

[00:52:52] [SPEAKER_02]: because that's another team

[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_02]: that's getting some hype this year.

[00:52:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So we're gonna see.

[00:52:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Because when I look at Nebraska schedule,

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_02]: very favorable.

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Even if they lose to Colorado,

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like they should win every other game

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_02]: up until the Vruckers game.

[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_02]: They should probably beat Vruckers.

[00:53:14] [SPEAKER_02]: And then they get two road games after that.

[00:53:16] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to USC later.

[00:53:18] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to Iowa later.

[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So if Nebraska could finish, I'd say eight and four.

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a great season.

[00:53:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm leaning more seven and four.

[00:53:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm leaning more seven and five.

[00:53:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I think they can go eight and four

[00:53:33] [SPEAKER_00]: with losses to the team

[00:53:35] [SPEAKER_00]: that you probably would project them to lose to.

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_00]: One loss to Colorado,

[00:53:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Vruckers, Ohio State, USC.

[00:53:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's eight and four.

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think all these other games are winnable.

[00:53:48] [SPEAKER_02]: But I got to move to Iowa too.

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know what I mean?

[00:53:52] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, over in Kenick.

[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, we'll see.

[00:53:57] [SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how Arreola is,

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_00]: if he can command or put defensive coordinators

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_00]: to a position where...

[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I know Iowa plays probably the top defense in the country.

[00:54:08] [SPEAKER_00]: They're probably ranked by top five, I believe,

[00:54:10] [SPEAKER_00]: in scoring defense.

[00:54:13] [SPEAKER_00]: But if you can get a guy loose

[00:54:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and he can fire that thing to him

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and you got to make these adjustments,

[00:54:19] [SPEAKER_00]: because it's going to show throughout the weeks.

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_00]: If he can...

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe he challenges

[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_00]: the defensive backfield for Colorado

[00:54:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and like really puts them on their heels

[00:54:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and people kind of put on notice,

[00:54:33] [SPEAKER_00]: like, whoa, this guy...

[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, that would be big.

[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_02]: It's only his second game.

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so...

[00:54:40] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's a late game.

[00:54:41] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a 730 game on NBC too.

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_00]: NBC in my time, yeah.

[00:54:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So sometimes you just need those kind of moments

[00:54:48] [SPEAKER_00]: to where it clicks, like, oh yeah, this is it.

[00:54:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, we talked about Caleb Williams in USC

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_00]: when he was at Oklahoma,

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_00]: when he came in for Spencer Rattler

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and he let that come back against Texas.

[00:54:58] [SPEAKER_00]: It was like, oh, that's all it took.

[00:55:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm pretty sure obviously he was displaying his talent

[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_00]: in practice and therefore, but it's like,

[00:55:06] [SPEAKER_00]: you get on the field

[00:55:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and then you make what essentially

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_00]: could be deemed as impossible happen.

[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, oh, now you just ride...

[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_00]: He rode that wave for two and a half years.

[00:55:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Nice in the NFL because of it.

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_00]: It can be something as simple as that download right over,

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_00]: like, you know what?

[00:55:23] [SPEAKER_00]: This is my Super Bowl.

[00:55:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know,

[00:55:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Shador Sanders is gonna be the great college quarterback matchup.

[00:55:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be conversations like Shador is gonna get drafted this year.

[00:55:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Raiola is gonna have a couple more years.

[00:55:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Are we gonna be seeing these?

[00:55:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think if you can rise to that moment,

[00:55:38] [SPEAKER_00]: those expectations,

[00:55:40] [SPEAKER_00]: then it could be, like I said,

[00:55:41] [SPEAKER_00]: it could accelerate your three-year plan for Matt Rue

[00:55:43] [SPEAKER_00]: or it could be a two-year plan.

[00:55:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Could be.

[00:55:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not betting on it though.

[00:55:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Wisconsin is bringing in Tyler...

[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I say you respectfully disagree.

[00:55:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not betting on it though.

[00:55:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Wisconsin is bringing in Tyler Van Dyke.

[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[00:55:58] [SPEAKER_02]: If that name sounds familiar,

[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_02]: that's because two years ago,

[00:56:02] [SPEAKER_02]: he was supposed to be the next great quarterback.

[00:56:05] [SPEAKER_02]: He was down at the University of Miami,

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_02]: had a great freshman season,

[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and everybody said,

[00:56:12] [SPEAKER_02]: hey, in the NFL draft,

[00:56:13] [SPEAKER_02]: this guy is already a top-10 pick.

[00:56:17] [SPEAKER_02]: And then he's been nondescript ever since.

[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_02]: He's been a little injured.

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_02]: He's been playing shitty.

[00:56:23] [SPEAKER_02]: So he finds himself up in Wisconsin

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_02]: where they're still trying to change their offense

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_02]: from smashmouth to air read.

[00:56:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So they got Phil Longo in as the offensive coordinator.

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_02]: He was the offensive coordinator for Sam Howell

[00:56:37] [SPEAKER_02]: down in North Carolina.

[00:56:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So they brought him in to try to help Luke Fickel

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_02]: change this system.

[00:56:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I think this is the make or break year for Wisconsin

[00:56:44] [SPEAKER_02]: to figure out if it's feasible or not

[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_02]: because you expect some knocks in year one, right?

[00:56:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, trying to learn a new system.

[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_02]: They started 4-0 or so last year

[00:56:54] [SPEAKER_02]: and then it all fell apart.

[00:56:56] [SPEAKER_02]: But this year,

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_02]: it really, really comes to fruition

[00:57:01] [SPEAKER_02]: because, you know, September 14th,

[00:57:05] [SPEAKER_02]: you got Bama coming in.

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Then you go to USC.

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Matter of fact, props to Alabama

[00:57:12] [SPEAKER_02]: because I've been talking about for years

[00:57:14] [SPEAKER_02]: how they haven't played a true road game,

[00:57:17] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, out of conference against somebody

[00:57:20] [SPEAKER_02]: since 2011 when they went to Happy Valley.

[00:57:23] [SPEAKER_02]: So here we are 13 years later.

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Salute, Alabama, for going to Madison, Wisconsin.

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_02]: But then the week after that,

[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_02]: they play USC at the Coliseum.

[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to Rutgers two weeks after that.

[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_02]: They get Penn State two weeks after that.

[00:57:38] [SPEAKER_02]: They get Iowa on the road the week after that.

[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_02]: And then they go into, I mean,

[00:57:43] [SPEAKER_02]: they host Oregon and go to Nebraska.

[00:57:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So Wisconsin is staring down on a barrel of six and six

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_02]: unless they can get this offense going.

[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they lose Braylon Allen to the NFL.

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's a New York jet now.

[00:57:58] [SPEAKER_02]: But they still have Ches Malusi

[00:58:00] [SPEAKER_02]: who averaged six yards for Kerry,

[00:58:03] [SPEAKER_02]: but he's injured a lot.

[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, so one thing you got to do

[00:58:08] [SPEAKER_02]: as Mr. Logical brought up, you got to block.

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_02]: You got to be able to run the ball.

[00:58:12] [SPEAKER_02]: You can air raid all you want,

[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_02]: but you got to have the threat to run the ball.

[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And I just don't know if Wisconsin has enough talent

[00:58:21] [SPEAKER_02]: overall to reverse their fortunes from last season.

[00:58:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So Michigan State went out and got Jonathan Smith.

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_02]: He was the head coach at Oregon State.

[00:58:35] [SPEAKER_02]: He's bringing with him Aiden Childs,

[00:58:38] [SPEAKER_02]: one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country,

[00:58:40] [SPEAKER_02]: albeit very young.

[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_02]: There were times last year where I watched Oregon State

[00:58:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and I said, just sit DJ down and start this guy.

[00:58:48] [SPEAKER_02]: He's electric.

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_02]: He was a true freshman.

[00:58:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, he's got him at least for two years

[00:58:53] [SPEAKER_02]: if he can keep them there, you know,

[00:58:55] [SPEAKER_02]: but Michigan State doesn't necessarily have a lot of talent elsewhere.

[00:58:59] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it's going to be one of those things

[00:59:02] [SPEAKER_02]: where Mel Tucker was a pretty good coach.

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_02]: He had the shit go on, you know,

[00:59:07] [SPEAKER_02]: he'll not act on the phone, you know what I'm saying?

[00:59:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So he's out of there now.

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, where's Michigan State

[00:59:15] [SPEAKER_02]: because they lost a lot of players

[00:59:16] [SPEAKER_02]: because you get the 30-day window to transfer,

[00:59:19] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, when you lose a head coach.

[00:59:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Their defense has been ranked 13th or lower

[00:59:27] [SPEAKER_02]: in the Big Ten the last three years.

[00:59:31] [SPEAKER_02]: They got no depth on the defensive line.

[00:59:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So basically what I'm saying is Michigan State

[00:59:37] [SPEAKER_02]: going to get a whole lot of ass whooping this year.

[00:59:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And they got Ohio State, Oregon and Michigan this year.

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_02]: In consecutive weeks.

[00:59:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Who came up with that schedule?

[00:59:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So they got Boston College, Ohio State, Oregon, Iowa, Michigan.

[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_00]: See what I'm saying?

[00:59:56] [SPEAKER_00]: They're trying to get more people fired.

[00:59:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You know you've got to be up on this.

[01:00:00] [SPEAKER_02]: You've got to be into S&M

[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_02]: to make somebody play Michigan and Iowa back-to-back.

[01:00:06] [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a lot of guys

[01:00:07] [SPEAKER_00]: that are going to play in one of those games.

[01:00:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, somebody's getting hurt.

[01:00:13] [SPEAKER_00]: My hands are getting tight, coach.

[01:00:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Man, that's a lot.

[01:00:16] [SPEAKER_00]: First of all, if you think about it,

[01:00:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Boston College is one of those smash-mout teams.

[01:00:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Like if you want to get a draft,

[01:00:22] [SPEAKER_00]: if you want a draft in the offensive lineman,

[01:00:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Boston College plays a good place to get one.

[01:00:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Linebackers, very just stout players.

[01:00:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Ohio State obviously, they're going to beat you up inside.

[01:00:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And that I hope is not a bandana game.

[01:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Because I think it's, is it at BC?

[01:00:38] [SPEAKER_02]: It's at BC September 21st.

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I know that's a big 9-11 hero story.

[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So it could be if that's their first game after 9-11.

[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I know they play Florida State on Labor Day.

[01:00:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Boston College does.

[01:00:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, it might be that game.

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Because last year that bandana game almost got Florida State.

[01:01:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Florida State had to come back.

[01:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me double check, double check.

[01:01:08] [SPEAKER_00]: No, they have, no, yeah,

[01:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: so this is going to be their first home game after 9-11.

[01:01:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's the bandana game.

[01:01:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:01:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So you're already in trouble.

[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_00]: You're already in trouble.

[01:01:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And they're going to run a pro-style offense.

[01:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And then your defense is shaky at best.

[01:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they got their old Ryan in there now.

[01:01:26] [SPEAKER_00]: This could be.

[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Three and nine looks realistic for Michigan State.

[01:01:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I got them at four and eight.

[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, three and nine is a thing.

[01:01:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So we talked about the national champion.

[01:01:37] [SPEAKER_02]: There was another team that played in that game.

[01:01:41] [SPEAKER_02]: They are the University of Washington.

[01:01:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So what the hell is Washington going to be this year?

[01:01:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Michael Panic's gone.

[01:01:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Roma Dunes ain't gone.

[01:01:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Jalen Polk gone.

[01:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Jalen McMillan gone.

[01:01:55] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, some of that offensive line,

[01:01:56] [SPEAKER_02]: that one offensive line of the year, gone.

[01:02:00] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they got Will Rogers coming in

[01:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: from Mississippi State to take over at quarterback.

[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Will Rogers.

[01:02:09] [SPEAKER_02]: If only he could have the pirate Mike Leach coaching him again.

[01:02:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Rest in peace.

[01:02:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Because that's the only time he ever did anything in his career.

[01:02:17] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they brought in Jeremiah Hunter who is Washington.

[01:02:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry, who was Cal's best receiver the last two years.

[01:02:25] [SPEAKER_02]: They're hoping for Denzel Boston to step up in that receiver room.

[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_02]: They brought in Jonah Coleman from Arizona.

[01:02:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Over 800 yards last year.

[01:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, 6.8 yards per carry following new head coach,

[01:02:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Jed Fish from Arizona.

[01:02:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Took Arizona to 10 and four last year.

[01:02:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So Washington is going to be that team.

[01:02:48] [SPEAKER_02]: They could either be somewhere along the lines of eight and four

[01:02:53] [SPEAKER_02]: or they could have a losing season.

[01:02:55] [SPEAKER_02]: They could be five and seven.

[01:02:59] [SPEAKER_02]: They're trying to make a lot of stuff gel.

[01:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the culture is going to keep them above 500, 75 minimum.

[01:03:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's a new culture. It's a new coach.

[01:03:08] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's still the weight room, the location, the fandom,

[01:03:16] [SPEAKER_00]: the upper management, like the recent history of success.

[01:03:21] [SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't just wash away when you bring in a new coach.

[01:03:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And I get there's going to be changes,

[01:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: but I can't imagine that it's going to be wholesale changes

[01:03:29] [SPEAKER_00]: because you have a new coach who was successful at Arizona.

[01:03:32] [SPEAKER_00]: So it wasn't as if you're bringing in the guys unproven.

[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: You brought in the guy who was just recently head coach.

[01:03:38] [SPEAKER_00]: He just won 10 games.

[01:03:40] [SPEAKER_00]: You as a team just playing the national championship game.

[01:03:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Washington better keep their eye on him

[01:03:46] [SPEAKER_02]: because his alma mater might come open this year.

[01:03:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[01:03:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Somebody named Billy Napier is looking over his shoulder.

[01:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Out of Florida?

[01:03:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[01:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how you're not successful in Florida.

[01:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it is what it is.

[01:04:03] [SPEAKER_00]: But that's the deal.

[01:04:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I never really had a coach, but I can't speak to it.

[01:04:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But then you got Mr. Logical Scarlet Knights,

[01:04:12] [SPEAKER_02]: coming back with the 16th ranked defense from last season,

[01:04:16] [SPEAKER_02]: 10th against the pass.

[01:04:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Washington, we just talked about Washington.

[01:04:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Washington could be Rutgers' key game

[01:04:24] [SPEAKER_02]: because now you're at a place where last year Washington would have blew you off the field.

[01:04:32] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, now with all their losses and we just talked about,

[01:04:37] [SPEAKER_02]: you got to win that game if you have Rutgers.

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Because the thing about Greg Ciano, he's a builder.

[01:04:42] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he talks about chopping the wood.

[01:04:44] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so game by game, year by year, get a little bit better.

[01:04:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so this is the year that Rutgers should take off a little bit.

[01:04:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Now, that doesn't mean that they're going to make the Big Ten title game.

[01:04:57] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?

[01:04:58] [SPEAKER_02]: But it just means, for example,

[01:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: they open up with Akron and Howard at home.

[01:05:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So two and up, they go to Lane Stadium to play Virginia Tech.

[01:05:09] [SPEAKER_02]: They beat Virginia Tech last year,

[01:05:11] [SPEAKER_02]: but it's a whole different beast going down there.

[01:05:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see what happens.

[01:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: They get Washington the week after that before going to Nebraska.

[01:05:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You get Wisconsin and UCLA at home, go to USC, host Minnesota,

[01:05:24] [SPEAKER_02]: and you got their quarterback that you brought in.

[01:05:27] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I would say his name, but I can't pronounce it.

[01:05:30] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[01:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to Maryland, host Illinois at Michigan State.

[01:05:34] [SPEAKER_02]: So when I look at this schedule,

[01:05:37] [SPEAKER_02]: when I look at the schedule, they're coming in high.

[01:05:40] [SPEAKER_02]: They smacked Miami around in the bowl game last year, 31-17.

[01:05:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It was their first, you know, bowl win in 10 years or so.

[01:05:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So Rutgers is building now.

[01:05:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Now it's time to apply your knowledge.

[01:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So eight and four should be on the table.

[01:06:00] [SPEAKER_02]: It should be on the table because when I look at the schedule,

[01:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: you're probably even with Nebraska, but it's at Nebraska.

[01:06:07] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm, so I lean a little bit Nebraska there.

[01:06:10] [SPEAKER_02]: You should probably lose that Virginia Tech.

[01:06:12] [SPEAKER_02]: You should probably lose at USC.

[01:06:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to give you another loss just because you're Rutgers,

[01:06:19] [SPEAKER_02]: but I can't necessarily point out the other loss.

[01:06:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Maryland?

[01:06:23] [SPEAKER_02]: No, because they lost to Lea.

[01:06:28] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?

[01:06:29] [SPEAKER_02]: So like Maryland lost to Lea.

[01:06:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It definitely won't be that rivalry game at Michigan State on

[01:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: the November 30th.

[01:06:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Shouldn't be Michigan State.

[01:06:36] [SPEAKER_02]: It shouldn't be Illinois.

[01:06:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Brett Bealama might find himself on the hot seat after this season.

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_02]: You better not lose to, we're in LA.

[01:06:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was not a good opening press conference for the

[01:06:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Charlottesville story.

[01:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And I forgot to mention earlier, since I said that,

[01:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: it just hit me again.

[01:06:55] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I forgot to mention of course that Ohio State brought in

[01:06:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Chip Kelly is their offensive coordinator.

[01:07:01] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, and you know, the coolest stat in the world about Chip

[01:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Kelly because there's not much cool about Chip Kelly.

[01:07:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, not much.

[01:07:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's not much.

[01:07:11] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, every year that he was at Oregon,

[01:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: his team led the Pac-12 in rushing.

[01:07:21] [SPEAKER_02]: When he came to UCLA, every year that he was at UCLA,

[01:07:26] [SPEAKER_02]: they finished first or second in the conference in rushing.

[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so that just goes to show you that Ohio State.

[01:07:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And they run a lot of plays too.

[01:07:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is going to be that change maybe for the Michigan

[01:07:37] [SPEAKER_02]: game.

[01:07:38] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, I had to say that, but speaking of running the ball,

[01:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: maybe Rutgers visions themselves as Iowa East because last season

[01:07:45] [SPEAKER_02]: they ran the ball on 62% of their plays.

[01:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they weren't very dynamic.

[01:07:50] [SPEAKER_02]: No, and you remember the Ohio State game.

[01:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The Ohio State game.

[01:07:53] [SPEAKER_00]: They were in scoring territory.

[01:07:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Like they were moving the ball early in the second half.

[01:07:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It had that weird tip ball interception return for a touchdown.

[01:08:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And then basically after that, Ohio State just imposed their will on

[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: them.

[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And just closed the game out with just size.

[01:08:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And they threw a couple of touchdown passes to Barbara Harrison,

[01:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: to Pat, his stats for whatever award they were going for.

[01:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Because they didn't need to throw the ball when they were throwing

[01:08:19] [SPEAKER_00]: it to them.

[01:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:08:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So that was my favorite part of the show where we get to talk

[01:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: about Iowa.

[01:08:26] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they're bringing in former Western Michigan coach Tim

[01:08:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Lester as their offensive coordinator to replace Brian Ferentz,

[01:08:36] [SPEAKER_02]: who is the original Nepo baby.

[01:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: So the way that y'all were talking about Bronnie James,

[01:08:41] [SPEAKER_02]: that's where y'all should have directed the energy.

[01:08:43] [SPEAKER_02]: They had to create a limit of him scoring at least 25 points per

[01:08:48] [SPEAKER_02]: game for him to keep his job.

[01:08:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And he couldn't do it.

[01:08:53] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so in the last couple of years, last year,

[01:08:56] [SPEAKER_02]: they were 130th in total offense.

[01:09:01] [SPEAKER_02]: The year before that they were 123.

[01:09:04] [SPEAKER_02]: And then the year before that they were 99th.

[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So they got 132 to 134 qualifying teams for that stat.

[01:09:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Correct.

[01:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: And you know what I mean?

[01:09:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So here we go.

[01:09:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Another quiz for you, Mr. Lodge.

[01:09:18] [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[01:09:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's hear it.

[01:09:21] [SPEAKER_02]: How many yards did Iowa's leading wide receiver have less or I'm

[01:09:27] [SPEAKER_02]: sorry, not even wide receiver.

[01:09:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't even a wide receiver.

[01:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Leader receiver had 447.

[01:09:32] [SPEAKER_02]: He had 299 yards.

[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was a tight end.

[01:09:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep.

[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_02]: He had 40 more receiving yards than their number one receiver.

[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, their top four receivers combined for 754 yards on 76

[01:09:55] [SPEAKER_02]: catches.

[01:09:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Their top four had 76 catches.

[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Kate McNamara, you know, old Michigan,

[01:10:03] [SPEAKER_02]: he was the guy that JJ McCarthy took over for.

[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, he started out last season, got injured.

[01:10:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Deacon Hill came in and completed 48.6% of his passes.

[01:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: They have zero passing game is what you're telling me.

[01:10:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[01:10:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[01:10:17] [SPEAKER_02]: McNamara is back, but he's in a battle right now for the

[01:10:20] [SPEAKER_02]: starting position.

[01:10:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So Phil Parker, the defensive coordinator, that guy needs more awards.

[01:10:26] [SPEAKER_02]: He's been winning awards, but he needs more.

[01:10:28] [SPEAKER_02]: He needs a head coaching job, but he probably doesn't want one

[01:10:30] [SPEAKER_02]: because he could have had one.

[01:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: He needs a statue outside the stadium because they went 10 and

[01:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Big 10.

[01:10:37] [SPEAKER_02]: They're, they,

[01:10:37] [SPEAKER_02]: they have their big 10 tackling leader Jay Higgins back along

[01:10:42] [SPEAKER_02]: with Nick Jackson.

[01:10:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You know,

[01:10:44] [SPEAKER_02]: They did lose Cooper de Jean De Jean.

[01:10:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, and you know, but Iowa does defensive backs too.

[01:10:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I got a couple more white guys.

[01:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I've made a couple more white cornerbacks starting this year.

[01:10:58] [SPEAKER_02]: So Iowa.

[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Could be the team.

[01:11:02] [SPEAKER_02]: That pisses off the network execs and ends up in the big 10 title

[01:11:06] [SPEAKER_02]: game again.

[01:11:07] [SPEAKER_02]: That's who I was thinking about earlier when I made the comment

[01:11:10] [SPEAKER_02]: that I made about there's a team out there that could make the

[01:11:14] [SPEAKER_02]: big 10 title game, because if you look at their schedule,

[01:11:18] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they're going to start three and no Illinois state.

[01:11:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Iowa state and Troy.

[01:11:23] [SPEAKER_02]: They're five and one against Matt Campbell at Iowa state.

[01:11:26] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to Minnesota.

[01:11:28] [SPEAKER_02]: They got revenge on their mind.

[01:11:29] [SPEAKER_02]: They got a good game.

[01:11:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Because if you remember,

[01:11:30] [SPEAKER_02]: that was the game last year where Cooper de Jean ran the punt

[01:11:33] [SPEAKER_02]: back and they called it back because they said he waived for

[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_02]: the fair catch.

[01:11:38] [SPEAKER_02]: The final score. That game was 12 to 10, by the way.

[01:11:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But,

[01:11:42] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to Ohio state.

[01:11:45] [SPEAKER_02]: After that on October 5th.

[01:11:47] [SPEAKER_02]: They host Washington.

[01:11:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Go to Michigan state.

[01:11:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And play Northwestern.

[01:11:51] [SPEAKER_02]: They should win three there.

[01:11:52] [SPEAKER_02]: All three of those.

[01:11:53] [SPEAKER_02]: They should win.

[01:11:54] [SPEAKER_02]: They should win.

[01:11:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Home against Wisconsin could be a toss up,

[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_02]: but I'm going to give it to them.

[01:11:57] [SPEAKER_02]: At UCLA.

[01:11:59] [SPEAKER_02]: They should win.

[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_02]: At Maryland.

[01:12:01] [SPEAKER_02]: They should win.

[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Nebraska is the last toss up game.

[01:12:06] [SPEAKER_02]: So literally the only game that I look at on their schedule and

[01:12:10] [SPEAKER_02]: say that they should lose.

[01:12:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Is Ohio state.

[01:12:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Let's take. Yeah.

[01:12:15] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, everything else is, you know, Nebraska is a toss up.

[01:12:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Wisconsin is a slight lean.

[01:12:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Iowa state is a toss up.

[01:12:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And we got to see how Washington can score the ball.

[01:12:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Like if they're all.

[01:12:28] [SPEAKER_00]: This is humming and it's, if it's moving,

[01:12:30] [SPEAKER_00]: if they're 31 points a game.

[01:12:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Up into this matchup.

[01:12:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Then I know.

[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Iowa.

[01:12:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?

[01:12:36] [SPEAKER_02]: So if it's 50 degrees, you don't say, I don't know.

[01:12:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[01:12:42] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, USC.

[01:12:44] [SPEAKER_02]: The Trojans.

[01:12:45] [SPEAKER_02]: The Trojans.

[01:12:46] [SPEAKER_02]: You knew we had to get here to Trojan Angeles.

[01:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, Sam, what do they got?

[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_02]: They got Miller Moss.

[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they got Lincoln Raleigh, of course.

[01:12:53] [SPEAKER_02]: The good news for them is that they took over.

[01:12:57] [SPEAKER_02]: And grab UCLA's defensive coordinator.

[01:13:01] [SPEAKER_02]: The answer.

[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Lynn.

[01:13:03] [SPEAKER_02]: They they're bringing him in.

[01:13:04] [SPEAKER_02]: He took UCLA from the 85th defense to the 15th defense.

[01:13:09] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, saying UCLA still has a Keely Arnold on defense.

[01:13:13] [SPEAKER_02]: They still have Bear Arnold.

[01:13:15] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so they got something to work with on defense.

[01:13:19] [SPEAKER_02]: He's not starting there.

[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they have these receivers.

[01:13:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's big on their receivers.

[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: You've got Zachariah Branch who is their new Reggie Bush,

[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_02]: even though he plays receiver.

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Last year he had a punt return touchdown,

[01:13:33] [SPEAKER_02]: a kickoff return touchdown and some receiving touchdowns.

[01:13:36] [SPEAKER_02]: So he's the game breaker on offense that Miller Moss is going to try to get the ball to.

[01:13:40] [SPEAKER_02]: They brought in Woody Marks from Mississippi State.

[01:13:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Who started 32 games there at running back.

[01:13:47] [SPEAKER_02]: So UCLA, I'm sorry, USC.

[01:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Bringing the talent in.

[01:13:52] [SPEAKER_02]: We just got to see if they can actually stop somebody.

[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_02]: If they can just get to say a top 40 defense.

[01:13:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And they can just be a top 40 defense.

[01:14:01] [SPEAKER_02]: They can make life tough for the rest of the Big Ten.

[01:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, they are banking on and I think they're banking on their reputation.

[01:14:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I talked about earlier in the show, as far as some of these teams can play and lose a big game.

[01:14:13] [SPEAKER_00]: They got LSU in week one.

[01:14:13] [SPEAKER_00]: They got LSU September 1st.

[01:14:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in Vegas.

[01:14:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So they can lose that game and just off cache,

[01:14:22] [SPEAKER_00]: just get pushed back up through the rink.

[01:14:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Because right now they're ranked preseason number 23.

[01:14:28] [SPEAKER_00]: A good showing or if you beat LSU, I imagine you skyrocket.

[01:14:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, they beat LSU.

[01:14:35] [SPEAKER_02]: They're probably going to jump to 15.

[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_00]: 16, 15, 14, somewhere in that range.

[01:14:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Or if you lose, but then you come back.

[01:14:44] [SPEAKER_00]: The thing is you could be one in two.

[01:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you go to Michigan, September 21st on CBS, which used to be the SEC slot.

[01:14:56] [SPEAKER_00]: It could be a tough stretch.

[01:14:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if Lincoln Riley is that good from behind, pause.

[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: He's always seemed to be ahead of the curve, especially when they were playing Oklahoma.

[01:15:08] [SPEAKER_02]: See what I know that USC has to hate.

[01:15:12] [SPEAKER_02]: So they alternate with Notre Dame.

[01:15:14] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they play Notre Dame every year.

[01:15:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But when it's at Notre Dame, they play early in October, you know,

[01:15:21] [SPEAKER_02]: before the cold weather hits.

[01:15:23] [SPEAKER_02]: When they play at USC, they play the last game of the season.

[01:15:28] [SPEAKER_02]: So I know it sucks to have to play UCLA, your big cross city rivalry,

[01:15:33] [SPEAKER_02]: and then turn right into the Notre Dame game.

[01:15:35] [SPEAKER_02]: So UCLA dominated them last year.

[01:15:40] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they do host Nebraska.

[01:15:41] [SPEAKER_02]: They host Penn State.

[01:15:43] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to the big house.

[01:15:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So this is not going to be an easy thing for USC.

[01:15:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So same thing.

[01:15:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Nine and three would be a great season for them.

[01:15:52] [SPEAKER_02]: What up, Josh?

[01:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: It would be a great time.

[01:15:54] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk about Minnesota in a second.

[01:15:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So USC is going to be the wild card here because they have the ability

[01:16:02] [SPEAKER_02]: to mess somebody's season up just off of their talent.

[01:16:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but their schedule is looking a lot like eight and four-ish.

[01:16:11] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I'm saying?

[01:16:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Cover your ears, Josh.

[01:16:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Then you got my surprise Big Ten team, the Indiana Hoosiers.

[01:16:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they're bringing in Kirk Signetti,

[01:16:23] [SPEAKER_02]: you know, from James Madison to be the head coach.

[01:16:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, he's a winner.

[01:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: He's bringing a bunch of James Madison players with them that are winners.

[01:16:33] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they got a pretty easy schedule when you consider, you know,

[01:16:36] [SPEAKER_02]: everything.

[01:16:38] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, their rival Purdue could be the worst team in the Big Ten.

[01:16:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Behind Michigan State?

[01:16:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It could be, you know, but as you look at this,

[01:16:46] [SPEAKER_02]: they open with FIU in Western Illinois before they go to LA to play UCLA.

[01:16:52] [SPEAKER_02]: They play Charlotte and Maryland.

[01:16:53] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm seeing at least four and one if not five and oh.

[01:16:57] [SPEAKER_00]: That's five and oh to me.

[01:16:58] [SPEAKER_02]: They go to Northwestern.

[01:16:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a win.

[01:17:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Now it gets a little hairy.

[01:17:02] [SPEAKER_02]: You get Nebraska, I'm calling that a loss.

[01:17:05] [SPEAKER_02]: What is Washington?

[01:17:07] [SPEAKER_02]: You go to Michigan State.

[01:17:08] [SPEAKER_02]: You're going to lose to Michigan and Ohio State.

[01:17:10] [SPEAKER_02]: So I could see Indiana seven and five or eight and four.

[01:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Eight and four, yeah.

[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Minnesota with eight starters back on defense.

[01:17:20] [SPEAKER_02]: My guy Darius Taylor is a little banged up, Josh.

[01:17:23] [SPEAKER_02]: He's a little banged up, but you know,

[01:17:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he'll be fine once the season starts.

[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they brought in Max Brosmer who was the leading passer in FCS

[01:17:32] [SPEAKER_02]: last year.

[01:17:33] [SPEAKER_02]: He's coming from New Hampshire.

[01:17:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, you got Joe Rossi, the defensive coordinator.

[01:17:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Leading passer in yards or grading.

[01:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Pass the yards.

[01:17:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:17:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Then you got Rossi, Joe Rossi.

[01:17:48] [SPEAKER_02]: He went to Eastern Lansing to become their defensive coordinator.

[01:17:51] [SPEAKER_02]: He was one of the better defensive coordinators in the Big Ten.

[01:17:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Like Minnesota has always been weird to me because outside of the Glen

[01:18:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Mason years, you know, in a few years with PJ Fleck,

[01:18:03] [SPEAKER_02]: they don't really have much to report.

[01:18:05] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, from the last times when they were dominating winning national

[01:18:10] [SPEAKER_02]: titles back in the 30s and everything like that.

[01:18:13] [SPEAKER_02]: But I always feel like they have talent.

[01:18:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Like they, you know, they always have talent.

[01:18:17] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they had Marion Barber.

[01:18:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, you know, this is like I don't understand why Minnesota

[01:18:25] [SPEAKER_02]: doesn't win more than they do.

[01:18:27] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?

[01:18:28] [SPEAKER_02]: But looking at this, they went six to seven last year coming off of two

[01:18:32] [SPEAKER_02]: straight nine win seasons.

[01:18:34] [SPEAKER_02]: But this stretch from September 21st to October 5th, Iowa at home at

[01:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Michigan and then they get USC at home.

[01:18:44] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, yeah, that's going to be a tough stretch.

[01:18:47] [SPEAKER_02]: They opened up with North Carolina.

[01:18:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm surprised they play Iowa that early to Josh, like, you know,

[01:18:53] [SPEAKER_02]: but like I mentioned a few minutes ago,

[01:18:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Iowa's got revenge on their mind for that game last year when that pump

[01:18:59] [SPEAKER_02]: return got called back.

[01:19:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Besides the fact that it's a rivalry game.

[01:19:03] [SPEAKER_00]: They don't play later.

[01:19:04] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like a little bit later.

[01:19:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it's usually like late October.

[01:19:10] [SPEAKER_02]: And but they get they go to Wisconsin to close out the season,

[01:19:14] [SPEAKER_02]: but they got winnable games on the schedule.

[01:19:16] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they'll beat Rhode Island in Nevada.

[01:19:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I just don't know what the make of UCLA.

[01:19:23] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm gonna give them the Maryland game at home.

[01:19:25] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna give them the Illinois game.

[01:19:27] [SPEAKER_02]: But at record.

[01:19:29] [SPEAKER_02]: More wins to become bowl eligible because you know,

[01:19:33] [SPEAKER_02]: like I said, North Carolina's breaking in a new quarterback as

[01:19:36] [SPEAKER_02]: well, you know, and it's at home.

[01:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: So I would like to leave Minnesota,

[01:19:41] [SPEAKER_02]: but I just feel like North Carolina is more talented.

[01:19:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it's just one of those things where what outweighs what.

[01:19:48] [SPEAKER_02]: So what Minnesota needs is for Brosmer to continue what he was doing in

[01:19:52] [SPEAKER_02]: FCS and just throw the ball all over the yard.

[01:19:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And like I said, right at the beginning of this whole preview,

[01:19:58] [SPEAKER_02]: what did I say?

[01:19:59] [SPEAKER_02]: To make a bowl game in the big 10.

[01:20:01] [SPEAKER_02]: You just got to be able to score 20 points.

[01:20:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not a lot of top tier offenses, but the like defense is tough.

[01:20:09] [SPEAKER_00]: It's stout.

[01:20:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And like I said,

[01:20:10] [SPEAKER_00]: sometimes it's just a matter of it clicking.

[01:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you say, you got this guy coming from FCS to now, you know,

[01:20:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Big 10 division one football line,

[01:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: like spotlights USC glitz and glamour coming in is like,

[01:20:24] [SPEAKER_00]: yo, can you stand in the pocket and hit open receivers?

[01:20:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you continue to do what you did to get you here?

[01:20:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, for Dylan,

[01:20:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Iola and Nebraska young guy was like,

[01:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: can you do the things that got you recruited hitting your skill

[01:20:38] [SPEAKER_00]: position, players in the hands on the back end at the top of your drop?

[01:20:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, can you just do these things?

[01:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Because the big 10, it blows my mind how like I will win 10 games.

[01:20:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And if they, I don't,

[01:20:54] [SPEAKER_00]: they probably didn't have any half where they had back to back score

[01:20:57] [SPEAKER_00]: drives for touchdowns.

[01:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, I mean,

[01:21:00] [SPEAKER_00]: if you think about like I haven't done any research,

[01:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: but imagine what the way they were scoring the fact that they had to

[01:21:04] [SPEAKER_00]: put a limiter on their offensive coordinator who was hired by his

[01:21:08] [SPEAKER_00]: other team,

[01:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: he can still play and he could still be a little bit of a

[01:21:16] [SPEAKER_00]: little bit of a threat to the team.

[01:21:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And so that's really what it is.

[01:21:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And I have a question for you,

[01:21:22] [SPEAKER_00]: but you're saying that because you've said on the show,

[01:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: you've heard some stuff about how you're trying to fight for

[01:21:26] [SPEAKER_00]: something and you've heard from the guys in the team,

[01:21:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's a good thing or is it a bad thing to

[01:21:30] [SPEAKER_00]: But I'm wondering if it's a bad thing to hear from the guys

[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_00]: You know Purdue is gonna be bad. Maryland's gonna be bad

[01:21:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Based off the press conference UCLA doesn't seem very promising

[01:21:46] [SPEAKER_00]: You couldn't get you if you were a fan of UCLA the opening press conference

[01:21:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that really

[01:21:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It didn't galvanize

[01:21:59] [SPEAKER_00]: For you as a fan

[01:22:02] [SPEAKER_02]: coordinator is right and

[01:22:05] [SPEAKER_00]: UCLA yeah

[01:22:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm drawing a blank. You know you didn't names guard our diet or be enemy. Oh

[01:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's gonna be tough cuz he's hard on players. So that means he doesn't like to lose

[01:22:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and you know his office gonna be a lot of guys quitting his offense wasn't very good when he was OCEA in at

[01:22:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Colorado, you know

[01:22:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So like UCLA like I said reminder out there y'all they are in LA the UCLA the LA and UCLA

[01:22:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Stands for Los Angeles. That's where they're located, you know

[01:22:36] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, this is this is the craziest thing, you know, like they got Ethan Garbers that quarterback, you know highly regarded

[01:22:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought Dante Moore was better but Dante Moore is now in Oregon backing up Dylan Gabriel, you know, I

[01:22:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Don't know what it is. Right? So last season they were talking to Chip Kelly

[01:22:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Chip Kelly was still the head coach of UCLA

[01:22:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Correct. He referred to Ethan Garbers as his brother chase

[01:23:04] [SPEAKER_02]: and the crazy part about it is

[01:23:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Chip Kelly didn't even coach chase chase went to Cal

[01:23:11] [SPEAKER_02]: But that's how non-descript Ethan they this is how non-descript Ethan

[01:23:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Garbers is or it's just how non-descript chip Kelly is

[01:23:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so UCLA does have a receiver that I like jay Michael Sturtevant

[01:23:24] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, so if they can get him the ball they should be fine, but they lost a lot last year

[01:23:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Especially on defense. So, you know, I'm not expecting anything from UCLA. We talked about Michigan State

[01:23:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Purdue

[01:23:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Purdue won the contest for how the hell did you get that scheduled?

[01:23:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You know Sam besides the fact that this is year two of Ryan Walters

[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_02]: He was the defensive coordinator at Illinois before he came over to Purdue

[01:23:50] [SPEAKER_02]: They still got Hudson card at quarterback who Josh knows very well

[01:23:54] [SPEAKER_02]: You know from down in Texas, you know, they start off with Indiana State and you're like, okay way to start the season with a win

[01:24:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Didn't they get Notre Dame the next week?

[01:24:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You know you go to Corvallis to play Oregon State so you might win that game, you know

[01:24:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Oregon State lost a lot then you get Nebraska go to Wisconsin

[01:24:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Go to Illinois. Did you follow that up with a home game at or I mean with Oregon?

[01:24:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Then you get Northwestern you go at Ohio State

[01:24:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Penn State at home back-to-back at Michigan State and close with Indiana. So if Purdue makes a bowl game

[01:24:30] [SPEAKER_02]: salute to them

[01:24:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Or if they end up four and eight is just more of the same

[01:24:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe five is the same five and seven will call it an improvement year. Yeah, you got a gift

[01:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I think and this is where like I think after a schedule like this you got to give the coach another year

[01:24:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You know to be unless you go one in ten or like two and not or two or two and ten or one

[01:24:54] Notre Dame

[01:24:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Oregon Oregon State

[01:25:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I

[01:25:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Think you're in the situation where well you you have it book in where you got

[01:25:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Northwestern and Michigan State on the on the front end of the back end of the Ohio State Penn State game

[01:25:12] [SPEAKER_02]: So you'll get a you'll get a couple of wins if you're not too beat up and discouraged by that because you lost

[01:25:18] [SPEAKER_02]: 55 to 3

[01:25:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but you know, you're gonna beat Michigan State 33 to 10 maybe

[01:25:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe

[01:25:25] [SPEAKER_00]: But are you gonna get that you're getting one of those you get one of those look back

[01:25:29] [SPEAKER_02]: But I think I think Northwestern is the worst team in the big ten, you know, they bring seven starters back

[01:25:35] [SPEAKER_02]: They kept David Braun when he was the interim coach took over last year after some crazy circumstances

[01:25:40] [SPEAKER_02]: That was the hazing in the locker room coach fat fat

[01:25:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Pat Fitzgerald suing the school for wrongful termination and all that good stuff like that

[01:25:51] [SPEAKER_02]: They want the reason I don't like them so much this year is because they don't have any playmakers on offense

[01:25:57] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't have a quarterback and they won, you know, I'm big on this. They won 6-1 possession games last year

[01:26:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the ball's not gonna bounce the same way to you. Yeah

[01:26:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah

[01:26:07] [SPEAKER_02]: it's not gonna bounce the same way but Illinois has a chance to be the worst team in the conference too because

[01:26:13] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they got Luke Altmeyer back who?

[01:26:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody seems to think is good but me he came over from Ole Miss last year. This is how good Luke Altmeyer is

[01:26:24] [SPEAKER_02]: He's so good that he got hurt and his backup came in and threw for 507 yards, which is a school record

[01:26:33] [SPEAKER_02]: That's how good Luke Altmeyer is you know that his backup did that but his backup I think is actually a Falcon right now

[01:26:40] [SPEAKER_02]: If I remember correctly

[01:26:42] [SPEAKER_02]: You know John Paddock I believe he plays with the Falcons

[01:26:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Tennessee is

[01:26:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm sorry Illinois is having to replace Johnny Newton

[01:26:53] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, we talked about him, you know, he's a commander now, you know, they're replacing Keith Randolph as well

[01:27:00] [SPEAKER_02]: They get back the backs at Nebraska and Penn State

[01:27:03] [SPEAKER_02]: But then they also play Michigan at Oregon they get Kansas they get them in champagne

[01:27:09] [SPEAKER_02]: But if you go back to last year Kansas ran for 262 yards against them and I expect Illinois's defense to be worse

[01:27:21] [SPEAKER_02]: They got receivers though

[01:27:23] [SPEAKER_02]: But the receivers don't play defense. Yeah, that's it. That's the problem. That's the problem

[01:27:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Maryland like I said, they lost Talia

[01:27:32] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, you know, what was that?

[01:27:35] [SPEAKER_02]: You know nature moved to bossy not enough to say nature just moved to bossy, you know, Maryland last year started six and oh

[01:27:43] [SPEAKER_02]: finished six and six

[01:27:45] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, uh, you know the year before that they think so they got the North Carolina Duff thing going on where?

[01:27:52] [SPEAKER_02]: They start off with a week schedule and then they pay for it later because even in the end

[01:27:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, even if you look at their schedule this year

[01:28:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Even if you look at their schedule this year, they start off with Yukon

[01:28:06] [SPEAKER_02]: You know said they get Michigan State they go to Virginia

[01:28:12] [SPEAKER_02]: They get Villanova

[01:28:14] [SPEAKER_02]: They go at Indiana and host Northwestern

[01:28:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So that is their first

[01:28:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Six games. Yeah, so that's that one each other one. It could be four and two it could be six and oh, but then

[01:28:30] [SPEAKER_02]: USC at Minnesota at Oregon Rutgers, Iowa and state state

[01:28:37] [SPEAKER_02]: They're probably gonna lose out

[01:28:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean listen you have the benefit of not playing Ohio State or Michigan

[01:28:46] [SPEAKER_00]: You have some favorable road games like you have or favorite. Yeah, you got

[01:28:53] [SPEAKER_00]: UVA at Indiana

[01:28:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Minnesota could be tough

[01:28:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, favorable road games. You have all your tough games at home

[01:29:01] [SPEAKER_00]: She got USC at home

[01:29:03] [SPEAKER_00]: You got Iowa to home and then you finish the year out with Penn State on the road

[01:29:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Who knows what Penn State's gonna be by then they might be beatable

[01:29:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, like I like I like their I like their chances to be you know

[01:29:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Nine and three again hit the bowl game or or you know nine and four after a bowl game loss. Yeah

[01:29:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, you have tough games at home

[01:29:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And like I said, we have no idea if USC transitions well, like we haven't we haven't seen it

[01:29:32] [SPEAKER_00]: So that could be a win that they get Chiano is very vanilla and his in his

[01:29:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Play calling and his personnel groupings. Like you said, they ran the ball 62% of his time

[01:29:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you can't do that. You get down 14. Like you said the ball bouncing one way

[01:29:50] [SPEAKER_00]: No, you got to come out initial drive touchdown

[01:29:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Rutgers run the hell out of the ball fumble scoop score night it down 14 Rutgers got to gather their character

[01:30:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I started throwing the ball around

[01:30:02] [SPEAKER_00]: You still win that way. So if USC doesn't gel, we don't know

[01:30:06] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna do something. I don't want to do my big ten title game

[01:30:14] [SPEAKER_02]: is

[01:30:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State

[01:30:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Over Penn State. Yeah, so you just went full chalk then huh? No chalk would have been Ohio State in order

[01:30:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess I have to see Penn State in these moments because I need their number two and number three right now

[01:30:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State in

[01:30:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Oregon I

[01:30:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Just feel like Penn State has to show me that

[01:30:40] [SPEAKER_00]: They have real championship pedigree because if you think about the guys they get drafted off their offensive defensive line

[01:30:46] [SPEAKER_00]: You got Michael Parkson's

[01:30:48] [SPEAKER_00]: honor up and Katie down Atlanta

[01:30:50] [SPEAKER_00]: They're just such a tough team. It's like how are you not winning?

[01:30:56] [SPEAKER_00]: How are you not live? How were you for 16 versus Michigan and Ohio State?

[01:31:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Position players that receiver is usually what it is. They bring it in one Fleming

[01:31:06] [SPEAKER_02]: From Ohio State this year, you know, he's their big transfer portal pulling so, you know, I'm a roll with them

[01:31:13] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they got the new offensive coordinator smash mouth football Nick Singleton, you know, I'm gonna just ride with Penn State

[01:31:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they're gonna lose though

[01:31:22] [SPEAKER_02]: States gonna win the Big Ten

[01:31:24] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, like I said, I think Oregon just has a lot

[01:31:28] [SPEAKER_02]: They got too much to replace that they're relying on the portal for from my liking

[01:31:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but like I said, you got a seasoned quarterback in this third school thinking battle back from some injuries

[01:31:40] [SPEAKER_00]: so

[01:31:42] [SPEAKER_00]: You know sometimes that

[01:31:43] [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's how you win those one possession games

[01:31:46] [SPEAKER_00]: We just have that guy that refuses to lose and we talked about like right now in the background

[01:31:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a replay of

[01:31:52] [SPEAKER_00]: LSU and

[01:31:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Auburn from some years back YouTube just you know

[01:31:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Played it but I remember before Joe Flacco's year where they went on that run

[01:32:03] [SPEAKER_00]: What do you know consider arguably the greatest college football run?

[01:32:06] [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't end the year well before that but he had went through it had the transfer from Ohio State had to be kind

[01:32:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Of relegated to like the third or fourth guy

[01:32:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you'd be you're the man in LSU

[01:32:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Your season doesn't end well and then you come out like gangbusters and it all kind of just comes together

[01:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: That following year. So who you so who you picking? I

[01:32:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Willing to go I mean Ohio State just seems like it just looks right off the page

[01:32:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't even know who they're gonna play. I just I just don't I don't see how anybody beats them

[01:32:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it just seems like it's all kind of set up for them. Like they kept their coach

[01:32:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they got a new quarterback, but it's like you got Chip Kelly in there

[01:32:48] [SPEAKER_00]: He's gonna get you points you have probably some of the best running backs you keep a good solid tight end

[01:32:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I just I just feel like they just kind of lift off the page, you know multiple-choice tests

[01:32:59] [SPEAKER_00]: We know you get the answer right when the questions seem to come off the page

[01:33:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Ohio State seems to be that that piece that comes up to pay whoever they play I think they're gonna be

[01:33:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so like I said for me Ohio State

[01:33:12] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll get to Georgia in a few days. We do our SEC preview because George has got a schedule on them

[01:33:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So for me, Ohio State is in the driver's seat to win the national title this year

[01:33:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying that they will I'm not picking it yet

[01:33:26] [SPEAKER_02]: But I'm just saying like they're in the driver's seat as far as just looking at schedules

[01:33:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Talent and just trying to combine everything

[01:33:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Because Georgia goes to Alabama this year and I think they can come down here to play, Texas

[01:33:39] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, they come down to play Ole Miss

[01:33:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, and you still got your rivalry games with Florida and Tennessee

[01:33:45] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, so so don't be surprised if I mean, I'm not gonna say they won't but don't be surprised if Georgia doesn't make

[01:33:52] [SPEAKER_00]: The playoff, you know or if they don't look as dominant. Yeah

[01:33:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Weak the week and don't forget that preview don't forget in 12 days from now

[01:34:02] [SPEAKER_02]: They play Clemson

[01:34:05] [SPEAKER_02]: You know sad and that neutral site in Atlanta

[01:34:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, that one might be a neutral site, you know Clemson is in South Carolina that one could be that could be a little

[01:34:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Bit more favorable. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, but yo we will be back on Thursday

[01:34:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You know to talk about the best

[01:34:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Conference in the country the SEC will Alabama stay, Alabama

[01:34:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Will Georgia stay Georgia will somebody new come through?

[01:34:31] [SPEAKER_02]: What are the newcomers gonna do is they're gonna be more than one coach in the SEC fired during the regular season

[01:34:40] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll have to see but he is the even kill

[01:34:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Mr. Logical warning you imploring you not to bring feelings to a fact fight fight don't do it and I am

[01:34:53] [SPEAKER_02]: 25

[01:34:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Going left a whole lot more than Deontay Wilder could ever imagine

[01:35:00] [SPEAKER_02]: We'll be back like reviews subscribe share great

[01:35:08] [SPEAKER_02]: We love you
