Two-Five starts us off with an apology. More NFL Draft Reaction and NBA Playoffs. Has Mr. Logical calmed down? Where do the Suns go from here? Plus more!
[00:00:08] Yes, we're now listening to the sound of Sports Reports As Ordered.
[00:00:15] Happy Birthday Jamar!
[00:00:18] You know what I'm saying?
[00:00:20] We're old, we are here with some draft reaction.
[00:00:25] We are here with everything in the NBA playoffs and everything in between.
[00:00:32] And when I say we, you know that I mean.
[00:00:36] That even kill.
[00:00:38] Texas born.
[00:00:42] My way of VA.
[00:00:45] Your.
[00:00:46] New Javuz.
[00:00:49] From Bill Ville to T-neck.
[00:00:52] Don't bring feelings to a fat fight.
[00:00:55] Don't do it.
[00:00:56] Misdologic.
[00:00:58] And then I am your unorthodox statistician to five.
[00:01:06] One left so much you thought I was.
[00:01:10] And then I heard these bars out here in the streets.
[00:01:16] KD said, but the fuck the big three is just big me.
[00:01:21] You talk about experiment going wrong.
[00:01:25] Yes, but we'll get to that in a little bit because first we got to get it off my chest.
[00:01:31] So life is about continuous learning.
[00:01:38] As a husband, especially a dude that's on his third marriage.
[00:01:45] You know,
[00:01:47] you had, you got to learn that sometimes.
[00:01:54] You just got to apologize.
[00:01:57] You know, say sometimes you just got to take the L and be like, that was on me.
[00:02:04] So we came up here a couple of weeks ago and we made some predictions.
[00:02:10] And I came out here and I said, the sons were going to knock out the timber.
[00:02:17] I said that.
[00:02:19] I believed it.
[00:02:21] You know, and I was going mostly off of the regular season matchups, you know, three wins by a average of 16, you know, whatever, right?
[00:02:30] It's over where it happened.
[00:02:32] You know, saying but Anthony Edwards is here.
[00:02:37] You know, he is letting everybody know that you got to go through me.
[00:02:43] And if Denver wins this game tonight against the Lakers.
[00:02:48] Guess who they play in the second round.
[00:02:51] So Minnesota.
[00:02:55] I had you on the clock.
[00:02:57] I wanted you to prove it to me.
[00:03:00] You showed it.
[00:03:02] Absolutely.
[00:03:04] Now Denver provided that you went of course, don't take Minnesota likely like I did.
[00:03:13] Because Minnesota's got the new twin towers, even though cats still hasn't done what I would like the cat to do.
[00:03:21] For the most part he didn't have to because Anthony Edwards came through like a comment that we only see every 76 years.
[00:03:30] But I just wanted to take a second.
[00:03:35] Because I owe the Minnesota Timberwolves an apology, but even thinking that this half ass team belonged on the floor with you.
[00:03:48] So that's my bad.
[00:03:49] I got to eat that L.
[00:03:51] I got to do better.
[00:03:53] Keep up the good work.
[00:03:55] And let's see how far you can take this thing.
[00:04:01] That was a good one.
[00:04:02] That was a good one.
[00:04:04] I'm going to go like a little simple.
[00:04:07] Like I said, I had my reaction to the Falcons draft.
[00:04:10] So I don't want to like we're going to talk about that.
[00:04:13] This is something I've noticed and there's something in B brought up after the playoff game.
[00:04:19] Loyalty of a fan base.
[00:04:22] Now, like I said, I wasn't really much as a basketball fan like I was really in the baseball and I was pretty much supporting the Braves.
[00:04:30] I live in the Tri-Set area now.
[00:04:32] Like, you know, Yankee games always very popular, but I've been a Falcons fan since like 1990.
[00:04:39] Yeah, 1990.
[00:04:41] Nine years old.
[00:04:43] And they had a couple of good runs, some NSE championship games, couple of Super Bowl appearances in that window, some very dynamic players.
[00:04:51] But I stick with them.
[00:04:53] I'm going to draw the matter how the season end.
[00:04:57] You go 14 and, you know, like 13 and three back in the day and losing the playoffs 12 and four.
[00:05:02] This one is 16 game season, the 28 to three.
[00:05:05] Like I didn't take my hat off and say, you know what?
[00:05:08] I'm done with this team.
[00:05:09] I'm switching over to the Patriots because I mean, I did like I thought Tom Brady was a great quarterback.
[00:05:14] I didn't switch it up.
[00:05:16] So I'm watching this Miami Boston game.
[00:05:20] And I'm thinking about game six when all the fans left and then at the rail and hit the shot, they all try to run back in.
[00:05:32] And every year I watch Miami heat games.
[00:05:37] And there's always a bunch of empty red seats.
[00:05:40] This team has been to the NBA finals twice since then.
[00:05:44] And it's like, y'all can't stay consistent in the seats.
[00:05:47] I was watching the game early.
[00:05:48] They were probably down by like 26.
[00:05:50] I looked up.
[00:05:52] It was already empty seats and I get you pay your money and it's a loser.
[00:05:56] But you're probably paying premium prices for those sick kids to stay through the end at least consistent like state to the end.
[00:06:06] But it seems like every single opportunity they get to leave early.
[00:06:09] They leave early.
[00:06:10] Utah fans are saying, wait, I stormed the field.
[00:06:13] I stormed the game once.
[00:06:14] And everyone's leaving because Utah was down.
[00:06:18] I believe they were down like a one to say eight and didn't have the ball somehow got the ball back.
[00:06:28] I don't know what transpire room they got the ball back scored a touchdown went for two, got a penalty that made the two point conversion got the ball back again.
[00:06:39] Kicked the game in a field goal.
[00:06:40] But we're like five or six minutes left, maybe seven minutes that people were leaving.
[00:06:44] Right.
[00:06:45] And this was the year that they went undefeated, played Alabama, the sugar bowl and won that game.
[00:06:49] So obviously, you know, like the smaller teams needed to win all the games, but stay there.
[00:06:53] Like even if they don't win all the games, you're already there.
[00:06:57] I think it was like a Thursday night game against Oregon State.
[00:07:00] Just stay there and finish the game out.
[00:07:02] So it's like, if you're going to be a good fan, like I said, everyone's mad at and be for calling out the fans.
[00:07:06] He's like, yo, half of them sold tickets to Nick's fans.
[00:07:11] Now it's like now it sounds like Madison Square Garden in Philly.
[00:07:17] And I get his close proximity, but show up for your team because it could have been too, too.
[00:07:24] It wasn't like it was like Philly.
[00:07:26] Yeah, like you're like the you're such a great sports town and you have such passion for your team show up for your team and be there for your team.
[00:07:35] And I get it.
[00:07:36] The money thing and everything else, if you can make $600 off your $200 seats, I understand I get it's economical thing, but you got the tickets because you want to see the team play.
[00:07:47] The fact that so many people sold their seats is this pretty amazing to me.
[00:07:52] So like I said, that's some odd things like if you're going to be a fan, just be a fan.
[00:07:55] Like I said, I'm upset with the Falcons.
[00:07:57] I don't want to buy any more of their gear, but if they play a game reasonably close to when the schedule comes out, I'll probably try to check out one of those games.
[00:08:05] Because I didn't like Desmond Ritter, but at least he threw a touchdown against the Jets in the game that I saw rain in December.
[00:08:12] You know, support your team.
[00:08:14] Maybe you're going to argue about them at the barbershop.
[00:08:17] You're going to wear the jerseys and go to these places.
[00:08:19] You go to the game instead of the game.
[00:08:22] Right.
[00:08:23] Yeah.
[00:08:24] And I don't think that's too much to ask, especially like, you know, that Nixon Philly was wild.
[00:08:30] Like, you know, it was like watching a Dallas Cowboy Rude game or like a Steelers Rude game.
[00:08:35] Or like a Chargers game.
[00:08:36] You remember the Chargers when it was like every other team was represented in the audience, except for the Chargers and the Rams when they were playing in the Coliseum.
[00:08:45] It's weird.
[00:08:47] Yeah.
[00:08:48] It's just weird, you know, but we'll get back to the NBA playoffs later.
[00:08:52] You know, Sam, we got some other business to tend to.
[00:08:55] So another draft is in the books.
[00:08:59] Mr. Logical, as you can tell has calmed down some, you know, I was fearful that he was having an aneurysm last time we were here.
[00:09:07] And but a couple of days later.
[00:09:12] How are you feeling?
[00:09:14] I'm feeling like my team is good with being slightly above mediocre rebuild.
[00:09:28] Because mediocrity by definition just average.
[00:09:30] I think they're good with being with having personnel on the team that could maybe get you 10 and seven.
[00:09:39] Likely to get you nine, you know, could get you nine and eight.
[00:09:44] But, you know, a possession here there, you end up seven and 10 yet again for now the fourth year in a row.
[00:09:51] Because I don't know where they decided we are going to bolster a certain position group or a certain side of the ball or strategy like for instance, the cheese drafted a fast wide receiver.
[00:10:08] He weighs 165 pounds or something like that.
[00:10:11] It's way not big.
[00:10:12] So more likely that guy's not going across the middle a lot.
[00:10:16] So you know with that pick it we're going to pair his speed with my home's arm.
[00:10:22] I know that definitively.
[00:10:23] I know there's a defensive coordinator who has to play them and one of these next 17 games next year.
[00:10:27] I know I have to make an adjustment to that Atlanta's first pick.
[00:10:33] Literally, I don't have to prepare for.
[00:10:37] Because if he gets thrown in there, he's a rookie.
[00:10:41] So like what am I what am I afraid of?
[00:10:43] He's a rookie at those some exotic blitz scheme packages that and more like we get a couple of turnovers early or that means the starter either played poorly.
[00:10:54] So the team is doing poorly for the starter got hurt.
[00:10:58] So like the team like when you're playing against the landing like Oh, I have nothing to fear.
[00:11:02] They didn't get a weapon on the outside.
[00:11:04] The stretch to feel they didn't get a defensive player that's like a hybrid that that scares you a guy off the edge.
[00:11:12] They didn't get a dynamic linebacker.
[00:11:15] They got a bunch of defensive tackles, but the defensive tackles they got.
[00:11:19] They probably could have got that same type of player.
[00:11:21] I'm not trying to discredit you just go get a six foot three 200 300 pound defensive tackle as an on draft.
[00:11:28] The guy or get them from another team, you know, get him from the Ravens or something like that.
[00:11:32] So I just feel like they didn't really hit anything in the draft to say we are going for it.
[00:11:38] If you look to Chicago, granted, Caleb Wiggins fell into their lap.
[00:11:43] But they didn't go.
[00:11:45] You're like, no, let's get a defensive guy because we already got a couple of wide receivers and free agency.
[00:11:50] Like now we're going to full on load up this cannon and just fire as many deep routes and post routes.
[00:11:58] And dig routes as we can at opposing defenses with our young quarterback, our veteran wide receivers and our rookie.
[00:12:08] We're going to put it out there.
[00:12:10] Can you stop us?
[00:12:11] So now the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator, Brian Flores, I have the game plan for a doomsday, Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, Cole Comet.
[00:12:23] Did it get swift from Philly?
[00:12:25] Swift from Philly and Caleb being able to move.
[00:12:30] Now we got I'm worried about something.
[00:12:32] That's the thing with the draft and I get like, you know, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh round guys, they probably end up practice squad guys.
[00:12:38] Some guys get cut.
[00:12:39] Some guys turn into gyms, Antonio Browns, the fifth round guy.
[00:12:43] I think James Harrison might have been undrafted. Tony Romm was undrafted so you can find players everywhere.
[00:12:48] But as far as those first two or three picks, I want those picked to be immediate impact guys.
[00:12:53] And I feel like a lot of teams Philly, Philly got two guys in their first two picks at corner when they already have two good corners.
[00:13:03] You know, diminishing you get older.
[00:13:05] You can't get out of your breaks, but you still have two good corners.
[00:13:09] You draft the two good corners.
[00:13:11] I know when I'm in Philly, I'm gonna have a problem throwing the ball now.
[00:13:16] Atlanta, what do you have?
[00:13:17] Yeah, and to keep that same train of thought, the Detroit Lions said the Chicago Bears just declared war on us.
[00:13:28] You know, by bringing in these wide receivers.
[00:13:31] So we're going to go get Tyrion Arnold and Rick Straw like we're going to get both of these corners to so you know you you raise me in a doomsday.
[00:13:42] I raise you a Arnold and a rickshaw.
[00:13:45] Exactly.
[00:13:47] And that's what the draft is about.
[00:13:49] It's Philly needs and I mean granted, looking at Atlanta, you can't say like in some drafts you can say, Hey, you know what?
[00:13:59] There wasn't anything there where we were picking so we just took the best available player Dallas Turner was there.
[00:14:07] You know, you got argue whether maybe it was too high because he ended up going 17 but he was there.
[00:14:12] You know, a doomsday was there to do the same thing that Chicago did and you know deploy weapons because they got Alphys Drake London.
[00:14:22] They picked up Ron Delmore.
[00:14:24] So yeah.
[00:14:25] Yeah.
[00:14:27] Okay, it might be like, you know, glorious riches but it's like, yeah, you know, it's like I said if you look if you think about Washington, they didn't play around trying to trade out that like listen, we're getting the guy that you know I saw a stat from him.
[00:14:42] Two years in high school.
[00:14:44] Jane Danes had 100 was responsible for 153 touchdowns.
[00:14:48] And then he comes to college his last year in college and does exact same thing.
[00:14:52] 50 touchdowns for interceptions. Yep. And then followed it up by getting what I feel was the best defensive linemen or defensive tackle in the draft.
[00:15:03] You know, of course, still got the wrong pain still got Jonathan Allen, but there's been some rumblings that Jonathan Allen is not too long for Washington anymore.
[00:15:13] So we saw the do rag interview.
[00:15:16] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:15:17] Yeah, yeah.
[00:15:19] So it makes sense.
[00:15:21] You know, Washington continued the same arc that they started in free agency.
[00:15:28] They got a bunch of solid dudes that might not blow your socks off, but they got good football players like Ben Sivit, you know, the tight end.
[00:15:39] He has the potential.
[00:15:41] I said potential to be this year's La Porta.
[00:15:46] You know, we got Dominique Hampton late.
[00:15:49] I think he's going to be a starting safety even though he was a fifth or sixth rounder.
[00:15:54] Like I think that's how good he is. He's the most athletic safety in the draft.
[00:15:58] You know, so when I look at Washington, even though I don't expect Washington to turn around and win 10 games right now.
[00:16:07] I see the path now like I see the direction of forward.
[00:16:12] I don't see the direction with my franchise that I support.
[00:16:18] Yeah.
[00:16:20] Another couple of picks because like, you know, we've had a lot of teams kind of mortgage their future.
[00:16:26] The Giants, the Giants had needs a quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback, guard and tackle and all they got was wide receiver in a corner in a draft.
[00:16:39] That can help them this year.
[00:16:42] I know, I don't know if Dale Jones, I don't know if he's going to be good even with a really good wide receiver.
[00:16:54] You know, like Zach Wilson had Garrett Wilson, but you would think like that relationship, like you'd get something out of that the way you get the weight and guarantee Kirk Cousins and Justin Jeffsson when they're on the field together.
[00:17:10] You were going to pretend you're going to get 100 yards and Tyree Kilg, you're going to get 100.
[00:17:18] Obviously the the ultimate relationship between Kelsey and my homes, you're going to get third down conversions where you probably normally would be punning another team would be putting.
[00:17:33] I don't know if Malik neighbors and Daniel Jones.
[00:17:35] I don't know if Daniel Jones like a sentence because he has Malik neighbors and I think that's going to frustrate the fan base.
[00:17:44] Because I think it's going to be combustion within the locker room, because like I said we all felt giving him four years 160 was a bad idea.
[00:17:53] So now you give him this top flight wide receiver that people felt potential was the best in the draft and if it doesn't work then it's gonna be like what do we do from here.
[00:18:01] Well I think that also like you hope that Jalen Hyatt comes on this year as well to give you another threat.
[00:18:11] But that's what I'm saying so it's like that relate because I don't know if your quarterback throw your quarterback makes I think a great wide receiver can make a quarterback look good.
[00:18:22] But in the same sense, I think a bad quarterback can basically squander a great wide receiver we saw Randy Moss in Oakland.
[00:18:29] That's Oakland or 23 touchdowns the final season.
[00:18:35] And you know so as I look around, you know obviously we knew or we felt that Denver was interested in bow Nicks, you know they ended up taking bow Nicks, you know I don't support bow Nicks I don't see it.
[00:18:52] But I do like the fact that Denver circled around and got Troy Franklin his receiver from Oregon.
[00:19:01] So it at least has a person that he's comfortable with a person that he knows he has a certain chemistry with a world chase plan.
[00:19:10] Yeah, yeah all those little things help so we'll see how bow Nicks you know ends up but Minnesota if JJ McCarthy ain't one of the luckiest dudes in the world.
[00:19:19] You know walking into Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones with a little bit of TJ Hawkinson on the side.
[00:19:28] You know and then Minnesota was able to maneuver to get Dallas Turner who we mentioned before you know so I think the NFC North is going to be a war zone this year.
[00:19:40] It's about to be exciting.
[00:19:42] It's about to be exciting.
[00:19:43] It's going to be fun.
[00:19:45] There's going to be a couple of there's going to be a few more Monday night football games with NFC North teams in them that we really expect because they Jordan Jordan love versus Caleb Williams that's going to be one Jerry got like there's going to be some games where this might be a couple of weeks in a row where we get NFC North matchups.
[00:20:05] And speaking of the Lions again and speaking of the Lions again you know who the Lions got right.
[00:20:12] Who they get.
[00:20:13] They got see on evoke.
[00:20:16] Oh the guy from Utah guy.
[00:20:19] Yeah you know there's a shout out to the Lions for doing the right thing that do play safety and then they put him in a running back yeah like to one of your expression.
[00:20:29] Like it's just yeah it was crazy you know so so to make matters worse for Atlanta.
[00:20:34] You know as I turn around and I'm laughing at the Falcons like what the hell are y'all doing.
[00:20:40] The Saints going pick up Kool-Aid McIntyre they go and pick up Spencer rattler.
[00:20:46] So it's like OK like New Orleans knows that they're at the end of the road and they're not going to sit up here and try to keep the dark car dream alive like so.
[00:20:57] But they got a backup quarterback with that value in the fifth round not the eighth pick or the fifth pick of the 11th pick like they pick the backup quarterback with talent and question marks in the right spot.
[00:21:12] But let's just say if I'm if I'm a Saints fan I look at that like our bets when we got off into tackle to protect the current quarterback then we got a corner to bolster the defense.
[00:21:22] OK Atlanta has big wide receivers.
[00:21:26] Carolina still doesn't have much.
[00:21:28] We got to guard Mike Evans and Tampa that's six games out of the year we need to get better here and here.
[00:21:35] I think we did that.
[00:21:36] Yeah Carolina had a to me Carolina had a good first two picks and I don't know what it means for this year.
[00:21:45] The running back Jonathan Brooks is coming off of an injury.
[00:21:49] ACL so we'll see if he's even ready to start the season.
[00:21:53] But Xavier Leggett great pickup you know even though the owner was spending half of the night trying to bully people in bars to take their signs down.
[00:22:04] Yo dude is dude is unhinged.
[00:22:07] Like you're a billionaire in here arguing with people at a bar for the opinion he should have came in like listen all drinks on me tonight.
[00:22:18] Send the bill to my secretary and people have been like you know what maybe we should change that side it's not bad this night bad guy.
[00:22:27] He could come in and say you know I like that side I think it's funny.
[00:22:30] You know put the car put my car on the bar.
[00:22:35] Hey everything in here tonight's on me up to $10,000 so whatever something like that you could have done that and it would have been a completely different story.
[00:22:42] His ego is out of it but instead he throws stuff at Jaguar's fans get fine $300,000 he's run up in restaurants he took to do his head off like a savage like he took to do his head off like he has a dungeon in this house like.
[00:22:55] It was kind of it was like a creepy like he's kind of like he didn't reach forward aggressively he's right.
[00:23:01] I know I'm going to be able to take this guy's head off his head sit it down in front of him and then talk shit to him right in his face and do is like he's taken off his head sat it down.
[00:23:12] I was like I'm slapping you reach over and try to take my head off with two fingers.
[00:23:16] Yeah I'm slapping you.
[00:23:18] You have a team that stood out to you like somebody that like you haven't heard a lot about or maybe a team that deserves a little love that hasn't been getting as much as they probably should.
[00:23:28] Um.
[00:23:31] Not really because I think everybody kind of played part for the course.
[00:23:34] You basically watched the GGM's watch the college football playoffs because they were busy all year with their actual team and dealing with issues on their team.
[00:23:45] So when the college football players came out they watched those four teams and then the two teams that felt like they should have been in it and they just picked a bunch of players from those teams.
[00:23:56] Texas, Michigan, Washington, Florida State.
[00:24:01] They all had the most players drafted.
[00:24:04] Keep my Texas it was like I think was in a couple years ago Texas didn't have any players drafted.
[00:24:11] They get like the same talent they're saying four or five star recruits coming into Texas every single year but they make the playoffs now the GM's have time to sit down because they're looking at it okay either their seasons pretty much over so now they can look at it.
[00:24:26] They look at all these guys and that's why like 13 guys from Michigan get drafted 11 from like Texas 12 Texas. I think 10 from Washington, a lot of guys they got two guys from the same team because they went to one pro day was like that guy I'm taking them both.
[00:24:44] And I have my my bias moment for about 20 seconds.
[00:24:49] Let's hear it.
[00:24:50] It's the Rams man.
[00:24:52] Jared verse Brandon Fisk, you know and then they added Blake Corm later like you know so the right was really made out you know they had two players before the state because they were in the last playoff and they got Blake Corm for the national champion.
[00:25:10] But now they have the same team because they went to one they went with the one pro day Denver got a couple players from Utah because they probably couldn't afford to send guys to every pro days.
[00:25:24] So they got a bunch of players from Utah because they probably was sending guys to Utah games for the last you know four or five games of the season because it's like let's just recruit our area here to say what they do with colleges.
[00:25:36] Right.
[00:25:37] And you know and then of course, you know, I was joking around backstage.
[00:25:42] And I said, and this is like the first part of it is actually true. The last time the Buffalo bills made a draft day trade with the Kansas City Chiefs they ended up with Patrick my homes.
[00:25:55] They did it this time.
[00:25:57] And basically was like yo you want another time we kill. Here you go.
[00:26:03] You know, if y'all wasn't beaten up asses enough. Here's another track guy to put next to Hollywood Brown, you know and speaking of track guys.
[00:26:14] Mark it down Miami Dolphins are coming for the gold medal in the four by 100.
[00:26:20] You know they already had time to kill. They already got jail in waddle. They went out here and they drafted jail and right out of Tennessee. They went out here and got my God Malik Washington out of Virginia.
[00:26:32] You know Miami is if they lined up a four by 100 team with to a running the anchor.
[00:26:40] They probably still win because it lead to be so big for every waddle and watching. Yeah.
[00:26:48] So you know, you got that going on the Steelers grab the guy that I really like a lot Peyton Wilson.
[00:26:56] I'm not being biased because of the last name. I just like the guy but he's just he's one of those guys where the injuries are concerned.
[00:27:05] You know so so if he can stay healthy. They're going to get a really good player which they normally do.
[00:27:13] I like the guard pickup because they need they need to open up holes for Najee Harris.
[00:27:18] They do sell them at least sell them out of hit them because he does tend to miss them.
[00:27:23] Yeah, and jail and poke from he went to New England from Washington.
[00:27:28] He's he's been my favorite wide receiver in college football for the last two years.
[00:27:33] I don't even know why I just like him a lot. He's the zone buster.
[00:27:37] My concern is he doesn't necessarily do the best against the press, if you will.
[00:27:44] But he is he is the zone buster that will sit down keep the chains moving.
[00:27:49] And then of course Tampa Bay got his teammate jail and McMillan.
[00:27:53] You know we already talked about Roma doon say so you know stand up you dub.
[00:27:58] You know then go ahead. Where's your other you said we you said Wilson right to Kevin Florida state.
[00:28:07] No, no I was talking about the linebacker Peyton Wilson from NC State.
[00:28:12] Okay, the who was it was it awesome.
[00:28:16] You talk about jelly McMillan and jail and poke.
[00:28:20] No the six foot for why receiver from Florida State.
[00:28:25] Oh, no, Johnny Johnny Wilson 67.
[00:28:30] He would the film.
[00:28:32] Yeah, that's that's what I was thinking because I was like, when I saw that pick.
[00:28:36] I was like Phillies having a hell of a draft because he six.
[00:28:43] I mean, yes, we got six.
[00:28:45] Big round to the ball but when he does that's going to be your red zone threat.
[00:28:50] Put him put 1215 more pounds on and put him a tight end.
[00:28:55] That might work, you know, but get him get a lot of scrimmage cash and passes.
[00:29:00] He came over from Arizona State, you know so something about Arizona State right.
[00:29:05] Johnny Wilson, Jaden Daniels, Ricky Pierce all who the 49ers drafted at the end of the first round and shocked everybody.
[00:29:14] You know, that was why I'm surprised more more current players on rosters that aren't happy didn't get dealt.
[00:29:22] I'm surprised that that didn't happen more often like as far as a brain a you deal someone like because if I'm thinking if I'm drafting in the first round, it's the same thing they did with AJ Brown and Tennessee a few years ago.
[00:29:35] If I'm Buffalo.
[00:29:37] I don't know if that stuff on digs contracts really hurting them.
[00:29:41] But I'm making I'm making that call like San Francisco what do you want for Brandon I you.
[00:29:48] You know find out what why receive around around the league isn't happy that you can move add non Mitchell 80 Mitchell I'm surprised he went he was 11th why was he were taken.
[00:29:58] You would think like I think if he if Quinn and yours gets him a better catch opportunity against Washington.
[00:30:08] He probably goes hired because it was going to it was going to be a back corner or back shoulder throw. It would have been a dynamic Texas football moment.
[00:30:18] I'm like a Vince Young kind of moment but it's been the moment to get them back in the national championship game. I think he would have got more he would have got more looks Michigan versus Texas and the you know, yeah,
[00:30:29] I think he would have been able to put on put on a show then I think we'd gone higher. But yeah just like so I think a lot of times just they.
[00:30:40] We saw the video.
[00:30:42] Coach any.
[00:30:44] Was that LeBron.
[00:30:49] I'm watching the.
[00:30:51] Like he was okay he got halfway down the court and stopped it look like he was pointing at the bench in the like didn't look calm, if you will.
[00:31:04] But yeah so I think the draft serves his purpose you know a lot of teams did what they were supposed to do, you know the teams that.
[00:31:15] Usually end up in the middle did things that teams that end up in the middle do like you said something along the lines of like out of the first like 13 or 14 teams in the draft this year.
[00:31:28] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah next year. Yeah, yeah you know I can't necessarily argue with that you know to me like as I look at this because I would like to think so looking at it just peeling it real quick.
[00:31:42] You know that I would like to think Chicago is going to be good enough to get a wild card but maybe not just because of their division, but they earned they earned a nine.
[00:31:52] They're like the nice pick on their own. Yeah, on their own.
[00:31:56] Their division their division got markedly better over the last few years around them. So I think they're the last team of the four to get their pieces to right to make their roster look like you need a year to make it mesh.
[00:32:10] Yeah, so you might end up seven and 10 simply because your six division games, you could go two and four and this course can be 31 28.
[00:32:19] Right.
[00:32:20] It'd be great games you just just lose because they have one or two more years of a relationship. I'm a I'm a rock St Brown, Jared golf fourth and seven.
[00:32:32] He knows to break the route off here and now it's, you know, it's a touchdown because they had that relationship versus, you know, Caleb Williams and Kenan Allen or room of duty trying to figure it out and it's like, Oh, I want you should have stopped here on this route and now they got to punt the
[00:32:48] ball back and then you know, little things like that I don't think it's going to be a flop.
[00:32:53] I think if Matt even fluce like really relinquishes the offense to the office of coordinator then I think they'll be good to go. But they could end up like I said they can end up seven and 10 strictly off of just other teams relationships, just beating them out.
[00:33:09] Well, I got I got a team that I want you to keep an eye on. And I also want you to not laugh at me when I say it.
[00:33:22] The jets. No, the Arizona partners. You know they went out and got Marvin Harrison Jr. They went and got trade Benson yes another Florida State guy, but I promise I'm not doing it for that reason he's just a really good running back to pair with James Connor.
[00:33:39] So you know, I don't like the fact that the Cardinals traded Ron Dale more. I like you like this the logical doesn't know why but I like Ron Dale more a lot. It goes back to college back at Purdue.
[00:33:52] No, I think it was a good trade. I just don't know what my team is going to do with him.
[00:34:00] Yeah, but they're gonna have Moody Moody. They're basically the same player.
[00:34:04] I think they're gonna have Caldwell Pope and now.
[00:34:08] So, you know, I'm going to the locker room looks like. But yeah so I think the draft service purpose it was a great night. You know at least the first night was, you know days two and three.
[00:34:20] I pretty much watched from my phone but I was very intensely watching, you know as I'm at birthday parties and doing family things, you know, I just, yeah.
[00:34:31] But the draft is exciting, you know I'm excited because 2028 put this on your calendar.
[00:34:36] Mr logical the 2028 NFL draft is in the nation's capital.
[00:34:41] You know so you know I plan on checking that out. You know we'll see doing it at the White House.
[00:34:47] So you remember back when sports reports is ordered started.
[00:34:52] One of the topics that I was always trying to sneak in there was does the sun rise in the West.
[00:35:02] Well, for damn sure we know that the sun sets in the West.
[00:35:08] I have a I had an analogy or one for 10 for brandy.
[00:35:12] Oh, come on you got to get better now.
[00:35:14] This is what this is I was thinking about this, you know my, you know, as I was getting my notes together.
[00:35:20] This is how I describe the hype around the Phoenix sons.
[00:35:25] After they got Bradley deal.
[00:35:29] It's like the second wilder fury fight because last year you had Katie and Booker and it didn't quite work out because injuries and but you thought like you know what, this is going to work out.
[00:35:44] So that you get Bradley Bill knows like oh this next year this next time around this next fight while there's going to really get very he's going to he's going to figure him out that right hand is going to land is going to knock him out this time.
[00:35:57] And they got there on the floor and it gets dissecting is like you realize like oh, they can't function together because they don't function together offensively.
[00:36:06] It's the same way with other you realize like oh, all he has their right hand so all Phoenix has are three versions of mid range jump shooters three versions of guys who could win the scoring title, but they all can average 30 because this mathematically just quite not likely.
[00:36:24] So and then you don't have any size.
[00:36:28] The wilder didn't have any size. They just leaned on just overpowered him and just was hitting the what haymakers and that's what Anthony Edwards was. He just was a walking haymaker.
[00:36:39] And he was just beating him over the head with it every chance to get any was letting them know he was not afraid of the moment he just was literally like, he was giving them the DX signs.
[00:36:50] He was calling KD old every game any opportunity could he was cussing at the fans arrest who never whoever wanted smoke. He was setting them on fire. Yeah.
[00:37:02] And Phoenix isn't an answer in the matter like and I said you can that kind of office is great.
[00:37:08] Like I said watch first news first and they were talking about the DeAndre Aitton tree is like how could you not figure that out. That's one of those things like me think look at the team is like yo,
[00:37:22] there's not a team really.
[00:37:26] There weren't many teams that had a guy that you didn't even run plays for it can get you 1710.
[00:37:32] Right.
[00:37:33] Just pay him pay him pay him like he's giving you 27 and 12.
[00:37:39] Just know that that 1710 is so impactful because you have these jump shooters that can't be guarded.
[00:37:47] You know, and just three years ago.
[00:37:54] They had a team that made the NBA finals. You know Chris Paul is gone.
[00:37:59] Obviously like you mentioned the Andre Aitton campaign so on so forth.
[00:38:04] This dude really tore it all down to put this team together and like when I look at Bradley bill a guy that's going to be making 54 57 and I believe 64 million over the next three years but a no.
[00:38:22] $160 million guarantee over the next three years and he didn't.
[00:38:27] He refused to wave his no trade clause in June when I asked him last year.
[00:38:31] Yeah, and apparently Frank Vogel at some point I saw a report saying that he went to ownership before the season started or the GM or whoever and told them I need a point guard we need a point garden here.
[00:38:46] And they didn't want to do it because they said that if we get a point guard is going to take the ball out of these dudes his hands.
[00:38:54] And here we are now reading reports that Frank Vogel might not be coming back next season.
[00:39:00] It's like what do you just like it's like hold up with the Frank Vogel do or what didn't he do like y'all failed Frank Vogel, you know like last time I checked.
[00:39:12] You could say about call it what you want Frank Vogel has a championship ring that the Phoenix sons does not have.
[00:39:20] You know Frank Vogel is recognized as a very good coach, especially on the defense of it.
[00:39:28] You know so you look at your team right now and tell me what of that matches up with what Frank Vogel is and brings to the table.
[00:39:40] So that's number two. Yeah, number three, number three.
[00:39:44] Y'all had a guy going vacation until the closeout game where he decided to score 49 points and odd stat.
[00:39:56] Like he didn't hit 50 but I looked it up anyway because I thought he was gonna hit 50 when Devin Booker scores at least 50 points the sons of four and four.
[00:40:05] So they were one point away from being four and five when he scores 50 points 50 points.
[00:40:11] So so now you're in a position of he's younger than KB.
[00:40:18] You got to move somebody you can move Bradley build yes the contract is too ridiculous.
[00:40:24] And now we got Stephen A Smith, you know saying that Devin Booker was being Nick and I don't know how that fits but you know what not my problem get him out of here.
[00:40:35] I don't think it's listen. I think the team was poorly put together but I've talked about this before with these new owners and the former owners of a lot of teams.
[00:40:49] It was family money. Say what you want about generational wealth.
[00:40:53] Some some of these sports families are the epitome of that if you think about Pittsburgh with the runes and the tomorrow is with the giants.
[00:41:03] You had the bid wells in Arizona as far as football, the hunt family of Kansas City some of these old the Johnson family with the jets they're not operating the same way but when these teams get purchased for these crazy amounts.
[00:41:18] David Tepper paying all the buildings you pay for the Panthers and he's butchering that what they're doing and Denver the money is spent and then this guy in Phoenix.
[00:41:29] You get these new billionaires that come in and think like oh I'm so successful to make these billions of dollars. This is just a basketball game I can make it work too and it's like, no you can't just put together an all star game this isn't 2k in real life.
[00:41:43] Right.
[00:41:44] More likely you're going to have to move. I think the best.
[00:41:48] You've got you probably could trade Katie.
[00:41:52] You probably could just just off of a team that thinks that you know they're Katie away. I don't know who that team is but you know somebody that thinks that they're Katie away.
[00:42:03] You know, a book or probably brings back the most value just because of his age.
[00:42:08] I mean maybe you call North New Orleans after their series ends well they're trying to fight it out tonight they're up five 10 minutes ago.
[00:42:17] Yeah, so so you know Anthony Edwards 31 in the second half last night eliminated his favorite player and one of the reasons that I love Anthony Edwards is you know do it as an interview.
[00:42:32] He said hey you know what I've watched just about every Katie game since I was five years old.
[00:42:38] And now when I go to the Olympics this summer.
[00:42:41] You know I'm a remind him that I put them out the playoffs.
[00:42:46] That's what I love about Anthony Edwards he has a little bit of that old school without being overbearing without being violent and let's do this and do that.
[00:42:55] Like he just has that competition that you know I long for you know so I show up and compete let's battle.
[00:43:03] Yeah they out rebounded Phoenix by 15 rebounds per game in the series.
[00:43:09] And if things hold chalk wise they're sitting there waiting for the defending champion.
[00:43:18] And last check we got into the first Denver's up 428 24 in the Lakers.
[00:43:25] Yeah, Jamal Murray so far.
[00:43:29] You know sometimes like when guys are kind of injured they slow down a little bit.
[00:43:35] They don't dribble the ball as much they kind of just pick their spots and I think they get a lot better shots like in B then be when he dropped 50.
[00:43:42] He wasn't doing a lot like dribbling granted they were playing him poorly now you know screaming about the whole picking role but he's like getting the ball and was like listen I'm eight inches taller than the guy defending me so I'm just going to just pull up and shoot this three.
[00:43:56] And I feel that way obviously I'm no NBA player but I felt that way about myself you know if I was sick if I had a headache.
[00:44:04] It was almost like I focused more because I knew what I had to you know when I was healthy there are certain things that you take for granted but then we got this game going on now that we're talking about Lakers Nuggets.
[00:44:14] You know game five tonight Denver can close it out Jamal Murray as I mentioned four for eight from the field.
[00:44:21] This seems to be one of those like when the game first started it seemed to be hey mall go take some shots and see how you feel.
[00:44:29] You know because he took a lot of shots really really early.
[00:44:32] Yoko just average in 2815 and 12 this series just ridiculous.
[00:44:37] You know LeBron is turning back the clock and the only reason in the fourth quarter is that the Lakers have been in some of these games or had the leads that they had Anthony Davis has had a great series.
[00:44:49] But they were waiting for someone to come with them.
[00:44:53] You know what that's been the same issue they've had for three full seasons.
[00:45:01] I we talked about it before I've talked about in the show.
[00:45:06] Charles Barkley said it years ago he was like you need a guy you like you need a definitive superstar and when it changed it you're a superstar player.
[00:45:15] You need a guy that can get his own bucket that besides superstar either crazy guy problem with the Lakers is their crazy guy also is supposed to be the guy get his own bucket and he can't do it consistently.
[00:45:28] It was Russell Westbrook for a while he was the intense guy the energy guy it was the guy the championship with the white Howard but he wasn't the guys will get his own bucket.
[00:45:36] D Lo is supposed to be probably supposed to be your guys get his own bucket and sometimes it's Austin Reeves Rui doesn't really create opportunities for himself to score.
[00:45:46] So they've been running this same team out there for three years it's just been a D LeBron and a conflict with the coach and playoff elimination which happens I get it.
[00:45:59] But they're literally like we said it three years ago you need another guy and they always want to always go get Kyrie like you need a bench to just got to find a guy that can like a guy like Tyrese Maxey.
[00:46:12] Learn from Phoenix you gotta let you gotta let a guy develop but you got to get a guy that's you know don't keep getting these journeymen players and they haven't worked other places and think because you pair with the brother and the D is going to work.
[00:46:25] It just it was a bad it's a bad concept that they keep applying every single year definitely some insanity.
[00:46:33] Well we're also in this league full of shooters and they're still not getting shooters.
[00:46:40] You know like the only like so when I look at their roster.
[00:46:43] I see Gabe Vincent who was hurt half the year.
[00:46:46] I see Max Christie who isn't even playing in the playoffs and then I guess D Lo would be your next best bet but he's not a shooter he's more like the guy that just shoots a lot and he's a baller he's a streaky baller.
[00:47:01] Yeah, who's confidence never waivers.
[00:47:04] But defensively, I look at it like this either I let him cook if I'm a if I'm on the other team.
[00:47:15] I'm planning one on one because he'll put up some bad shots which normally a long shots so you get long rebounds you get runouts off the rebounds and then it causes the Lakers to call timeouts.
[00:47:28] You know like things like that just kind of momentum defining plays sometimes he'll assist you with that but sometimes it goes six or seven from three.
[00:47:36] Sometimes he'll go, you know nine for 16 from three and have a great night but I just need you to get I need you to get 16 18 points efficiently consistently.
[00:47:48] Right. And you got Austin Reeves who is averaging 11 when they play in Denver average 21 and a half at home.
[00:47:58] So you know we talk about the other 16 get to the book and get your free throws hit these open three that you're never going to get because they're going to double either going to double ad so when you get these open looks just knock them down but also the
[00:48:15] the Lakers offense is basically alright this trip up we're going to just do this.
[00:48:22] It doesn't seem to be like a system that they run is kind of like alright you got the green light for the next two days.
[00:48:30] No ad I'm tired like just you know to be like hey Bron my foot hurt like you like take the next three like you know what I'm taking the next three or hey Austin we think you have right.
[00:48:44] It's almost like how people viewed before they started winning it was kind of how people view Kyrie and Luca where it was like yo your turn your turn your turn and they were talking about the wrong team though.
[00:48:59] You know New Orleans is out of here tonight I'm sure I'm pretty sure of.
[00:49:03] They're battling this.
[00:49:05] Get them out of here get them out of here get Brandon Ingram out of there get CJ McCollum out of there.
[00:49:12] It's time to start over in New Orleans whatever that looks like you know because I can't stay healthy enough for you to move him.
[00:49:21] So you know I think we're at the point where there's just some teams and I'm not saying that Zion and Brandon Ingram did anything wrong.
[00:49:31] I'm not saying either one of them did anything wrong.
[00:49:34] I'm just saying sometimes it just doesn't work whether circumstance whether it's luck whether it just doesn't work for whatever reason.
[00:49:43] I think we've been here long enough to know that this is over with like New Orleans is in the play in back to back years.
[00:49:53] You know what are we doing you know CJ is going to be another year older next year.
[00:49:57] Let him go to Orlando and mentor or something.
[00:50:02] The certain teams like if you think about it you need.
[00:50:07] You got a hit on a couple of draft picks.
[00:50:11] One or two years apart if you think about Boston back to back years Tatum Brown.
[00:50:19] Al Horford.
[00:50:21] Yeah, you got OKC they seem to hit with Giddy.
[00:50:25] And then you get the free agent or the trade piece and SGA that you draft chat.
[00:50:31] So you're like OK we got a little dynamic group and you got them you know you got them organically.
[00:50:36] You didn't try to piece it together quickly by depleting your entire bench.
[00:50:42] You have George and Carmelo and it didn't work out and Sam Presley just did a great job of like.
[00:50:49] How do we do a rebuild. How do we do an honest rebuild without what I'll be in as bad as Philly was the trust of process where he's like come on man like you guys just flat out losing on purpose.
[00:50:59] It's a difference like Michael Carter Williams was rookie at a year and they shipped them off the next year because he wanted to win too much.
[00:51:08] Right.
[00:51:09] You know so Philly Philly is another example they had they had the pieces they had been they drafted B at Ben.
[00:51:18] They had a couple of free agents they they had those guys were mismatches is like when we can make this work their bigger version of Tatum Brown and they just couldn't keep it together like you said for some some reasons sometimes it just doesn't work.
[00:51:32] Yeah, you got it but you got it.
[00:51:34] Yeah, but you got it wrong.
[00:51:36] It just for whatever reason there's just always something you know that I mean just like Brooklyn when Katie and Kyrie were in Brooklyn like just for whatever reason.
[00:51:46] Well, the reason I think they did it wrong there was because I'm like one crazy.
[00:51:53] I think they tried to microwave it.
[00:51:55] Yeah, they tried to they try to they didn't need to make the James Harden trade.
[00:52:01] Right.
[00:52:02] They would have gone through that season and been content with going 56 and 2655 and 27 learn get some you'll get some grit.
[00:52:15] They were trying to go 67 and 15 right and just try to out just out just dominate on like sometimes you just got to be content with playing away Denver does Jamal Murray, Yolkich, some timely pieces guys like Jeff Green, KCP and free agency little moves like that.
[00:52:36] But when you try to microwave it is tough.
[00:52:38] It's a tough position to put your team in because now the expectation is like oh we mortgaged like Phoenix mortgage entire future they don't have a draft pick until 20 first round 30 25 to 2030.
[00:52:50] They don't control any of them.
[00:52:52] Yeah.
[00:52:53] So now that is that is essentially gone wrong.
[00:52:56] You got to make you got to get some out of it to make it go right so either you move.
[00:53:01] You go to Bradley Beale like listen, we really want you to trade us no trade clause will get you the best trade we can get because someone's going to one take that on.
[00:53:09] Yeah, for some reason, for some reason.
[00:53:12] And then you know speaking of things that just happened.
[00:53:16] It's just the clippers to give up a 31 point lead and let the other team take the lead. I mean granted they held on the win.
[00:53:25] And I stand by what I said last week.
[00:53:28] They should have why why until Dallas gave them a reason to because I feel that Kawhi hinders them just from the standpoint of they aren't as free throwing when he's on the floor, you know because he has to.
[00:53:43] He doesn't have to dribble the ball a lot, but he has to touch the ball he has to be involved.
[00:53:49] And sometimes when he's involved, he takes two three dribbles too many and then he tries to kick it out.
[00:53:57] And it just doesn't work in Dallas gets in transition.
[00:54:00] You know, Paul George, you know hit the big shot yesterday James Harden closed it out.
[00:54:08] But I wanted to talk about is there going to be a fight in this series because Russell Westbrook was wild.
[00:54:16] Out in game three.
[00:54:21] I talked about this will hockey sometimes to those guys fight all year long, but in the playoffs.
[00:54:27] They're intense, but they know I don't want to fully hurt my team.
[00:54:31] And rest of it is going to have one of those nights you know he gets into it with the fans.
[00:54:37] He hears everything and I think it just gets him. I think it just gets him jacked up.
[00:54:42] And sometimes you just got to like, you got to willing and luckily as a coach like Tyloo, who could probably get to him and get him to not do this again in game five.
[00:54:53] Like I think like Stephen A Smith talk about he thought that he should have been suspended for game four like you're ejecting them game three.
[00:54:59] It is you don't have to like double punish them but like coming out.
[00:55:03] Yeah, come out game five if he has any that's his leash is very short.
[00:55:09] He does anything that's any like even if it's a good hard play all file on a you know just chop up a break away layup.
[00:55:18] It might get reviewed and we know how to replace him has been going Boston was I want to say a victim of it tonight but Boston was out range with their with the flagrant that um then at a buy you got tonight because
[00:55:31] he landed in the shooting zone after the play and they got so we all know that the replay center is not been real favorable to the players.
[00:55:40] So, Russ gets out of hand. He gets a good hard playoff file.
[00:55:45] He could be out, you know, then I think they will kick him out the game and then suspend them for the following game.
[00:55:51] Yes. So I said beforehand I thought it was going to go seven.
[00:55:55] I still think it's going to go seven. But I also think that I'm conflicted because if Dallas wins game five goes up three to on the way back to Dallas.
[00:56:09] There's a part of me that says you have to play Kawhi because all hands on deck when I go home, you know, but right but I think your chances are better without him so I don't know so if the clipers win tomorrow night.
[00:56:25] Or whenever game five is then I have to really ask some questions about you know what are we doing in LA is number one.
[00:56:36] Number two in Dallas what the hell is going on that y'all can beat this team without their perceived best player.
[00:56:45] I mean, if you think about is Dallas Dallas is not a great team defensively.
[00:56:51] No, I think they play good team defense I think they do run big bodies at you and they put the pressure on you by having these two guys that can score at will.
[00:57:01] You know you got 69 points between Luca and Kyrie Slaid they both played 45 minutes.
[00:57:08] So I think that's the pressure like that's how they like invert like the defensive pressure like oh, I'm just going to come back downhill with this guy you can't stop getting to the room or a guy that is just so big that he can just anyway you put out there to guard him he's bigger than.
[00:57:27] Yeah.
[00:57:28] You know other than Paul George but I don't think Paul George has the same like weight as Luca.
[00:57:34] I know hard and can't really guard them so it's just, I think that's how they make up for the fact that not a great defensive team.
[00:57:41] And clip is what they're just well coached it just it's probably the the best matchup and I think each one of them probably would have been like.
[00:57:52] Maybe I should have been a different seed just get a different first round matchup because it's tough this part of the toughest one.
[00:58:00] No one's out West I mean the Lakers the Lakers Denver series is very tough but the Lakers going to be tough no matter what because they're just a tough team they're going to battle you even an even if they lose tonight and five.
[00:58:12] It's still been a toll on Denver to play they've had to come back.
[00:58:18] They haven't been able to rest any fourth quarter at all.
[00:58:22] So they made their comebacks in the fourth but they've been playing hard, you know, 3940 plus minutes all of their stars and even their key role players.
[00:58:32] A lot of guys like Christian Bronn.
[00:58:35] He is only after like six or seven minutes he was huge in the finals last year, but because they're having to crawl back.
[00:58:43] You got fresh guys on the bench that you can't put in because you gotta leave you stars out there.
[00:58:48] All right, you ready for my stat of the day slash pop quiz of the day.
[00:58:54] Let's hear it.
[00:58:55] All right, here we go America pop quiz time.
[00:58:59] So we need some music for that.
[00:59:01] You know so the Orlando magic.
[00:59:06] Have won the last two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers by a combined 61 points.
[00:59:15] Who are the last two teams that one consecutive games by that many by around that many points so 60 points or so.
[00:59:32] And no it's not the Warriors.
[00:59:34] I'm gonna say one of the Kobe Shaq Laker teams.
[00:59:37] Okay.
[00:59:41] And the Miami Heat, the LeBron Miami Heat.
[00:59:45] You do this every time the LeBron Cavs.
[00:59:51] And the Milwaukee Bucks.
[00:59:54] So I'm not saying that Orlando is going to win the title.
[00:59:58] I'm just saying they're in good company with champions.
[01:00:02] You know, but you know game five tomorrow.
[01:00:05] That was amazing when I saw because like I said, I was I was on the go a weekend.
[01:00:09] I was going to the city Sunday as watching the draft and just like then I was out north Jersey on Friday.
[01:00:16] So like I didn't get to catch all the basketball game but when I was watching I was like, are they up 30 again?
[01:00:22] Yeah, game five tomorrow back in as they say the land.
[01:00:29] You know, I said before this series that I know everybody is talking about it and how he's not going to be there and all this kind of stuff.
[01:00:43] But Donovan Mitchell was just not that type of player.
[01:00:47] Like he's a small chucker.
[01:00:51] And that is not efficient at all takes bad shots when the game gets tight or when the team is in a downturn.
[01:01:00] His answer is to take dumber shots, you know, and you know Orlando at home turned it on so that's the question is can they keep the momentum going back on the road.
[01:01:14] So this technically this series hasn't started yet.
[01:01:17] Correct.
[01:01:18] Well back to 00 is a three game series three game series.
[01:01:24] I mean like I said, the just being naive and not understanding how big the moment is might be your biggest asset.
[01:01:32] Mitchell is probably pressing because he's had he had a couple of good runs we talk about the playoff run in the bubble him and Murray were going back and forth.
[01:01:40] And that last three I think my colleague shot for the jazz rimmed out and able to one that series.
[01:01:46] You know, I think he just constantly in this this battle where he is close then they had the Rudy go bare basically not being able to defend anyone so that was getting them put out of playoff series.
[01:01:59] He wants to be that guy.
[01:02:01] He wants to be the big money guy.
[01:02:04] And maybe he's pressing a little bit, whereas these guys on the magic alike.
[01:02:09] Yeah we're getting to the remit will we're getting done again layers again open threes we've never we haven't scored like this all year long. This is fun. Let's keep it going.
[01:02:20] Yeah I am the magic number here two fives magic number is 100.
[01:02:27] 100 points.
[01:02:29] One back to last year in their series against the mix.
[01:02:34] Cleveland is now played seven straight playoff games without hitting 100 points.
[01:02:40] So, yeah, they're just, it's like we you, we you first go to Korea, you see all the bars are just crazy is great.
[01:02:50] We like a seasoned vet you go there two or three times you're like listen man, these bars are cool.
[01:02:55] But this is the best one this is the best one these guys are Orlando like oh this is all great.
[01:02:59] What all these bars and have all have the time of my life.
[01:03:03] I kick it out chat.
[01:03:06] Michael Porter confuses me so much.
[01:03:10] He just, and he could just be a little bit more aggressive.
[01:03:15] Like it would just unlock another dimension to Denver, but he gets he's 610.
[01:03:21] And then he like jumps in the air and tries to dump it off.
[01:03:25] So you're 610 dude just put a floater up or something.
[01:03:29] You know what I mean but we'll skip over Boston in Miami, besides talking about how bam tried to take out Tatum tonight.
[01:03:39] It was.
[01:03:40] It wasn't on purpose but it was on purpose he did put his foot there, but I don't think his intent was.
[01:03:48] To not let Tatum get a clean look after the whistle at the rim which is successive I see a lot of players do as seen Beverly like block the shot you know like the whistle blows a gas you floater, you know and they block it at the
[01:04:03] rim but sometimes right again hurt doing that.
[01:04:08] You just got to you got to play ready you got to just be ready.
[01:04:11] You got to look for anything but bam when he was saying like oh he's flopping he's flopping it's like no like you're he you felt him step on your foot.
[01:04:20] Right yeah and you know bam was just mad because dirt white put it in his face.
[01:04:27] You know, pause you know say Tatum came back down and put it in somebody's face.
[01:04:34] Caleb Martin caught all that house and he was inside a restricted area so I think he got free throws out of it too.
[01:04:40] That's always worth I think the refs just know that they can just let that go.
[01:04:45] Already got dumped on it's embarrassing my grandmother watches these games mall and you will give him another free throw.
[01:04:53] That is do tell you man is man is he just he's already five of 14 no one else on the nuggas has taken more than four shots, and that was my reporter junior with the four shots so you know, and now
[01:05:08] the Lakers are on a 14 three run and up by six with about five minutes left until half time because Mary again for another shot he made that one.
[01:05:17] We got OKC up 845 seconds left.
[01:05:22] Yeah I told you it's over man like the eggs are cold, you know saying turn the lights out shut the fridge.
[01:05:29] So then you got the the pace cars, taking it taking advantage of the Milwaukee Bucks who had Bobby Porter is getting jacked at last night.
[01:05:44] You know, Chris Middleton went down with an ankle injury for a period last night and I was just like, there's no way that this is happening he was able to come back thank goodness.
[01:05:54] But you know this series is probably overfall intensive purposes as well, unless dame could come back and average 47 the rest of the way.
[01:06:04] So, if we are.
[01:06:08] So that means Doc Rivers is probably going to keep his job because everything went wrong, and they're going to be like you know what let's give him a full season, or does he get fired in the middle of next season.
[01:06:24] The same thing we did with Shaq and Kobe aka hardened and beat, you know, I wouldn't give him an extra year but I also understand that you don't want to be on your fourth head coach in less than two years.
[01:06:43] I mean, it's a possibility.
[01:06:48] You know, they have boot and holds are, you know, Adrian Griffin doc and then I'm forgetting somebody that I think this is karma for how they treating booze because like they fired them like we just brother died.
[01:07:04] They did.
[01:07:06] They did.
[01:07:07] You know, so the curse of yeah the curse of bud there you go. And you know but yeah Milwaukee we already knew that they were do a to begin with.
[01:07:17] You know the honest injury just helped us get there a lot quicker than we probably would have otherwise. And then finally, we got Joel our test and bead.
[01:07:32] Like, I don't know how he's, I don't know how he's battling through all this man like I want to bash him just because he's not like winning but in the same sense like I don't really I never really expected a jewel and be like I never really thought Philly.
[01:07:46] After they lost Ben Simmons.
[01:07:48] I was like okay yeah this is a wrap like when they mentally lost Ben Simmons and when it like when he like actually got traded.
[01:07:57] I was again they I don't know if they can come back from this because I think he ruined his own trade value.
[01:08:04] Because it just was like you guys were on the team that looked like you were going to do something for a couple of years.
[01:08:10] And when it doesn't pan out and then you mentally seem to check out and then indeed just basically left their hole in the bag and then they make they make the James Harden deal that doesn't work out either so I don't feel bad for him in that sense because
[01:08:24] he is an NBA player and he's getting an opportunity.
[01:08:26] But he's the reigning MVP.
[01:08:28] He went for 50 on Friday.
[01:08:35] You know in the game that another game that had Mr logical pulling his hair out.
[01:08:40] You know and then of course you know yesterday played 43 minutes.
[01:08:45] You know one point in the fourth quarter just gassed in a couple of things that I took away from this series so far.
[01:08:52] Oh geez Gordon.
[01:08:54] The Knicks have out offensive rebounded the Sixers in this series 61 to 36.
[01:09:01] Yeah and B doesn't jump for a single rebound.
[01:09:04] They last night you know Jalen Brunson my MVP you know put up 47 points took 34 shots to do it.
[01:09:13] But it is a franchise record for the New York Knicks so congratulations on that.
[01:09:18] Yeah it's 47 points and his team didn't score 100.
[01:09:22] Yeah they scored 97 so the rest of the team outscored him by 3.
[01:09:28] So also yesterday something that maybe keep an eye on you know because he did go to the locker room briefly at the start of the fourth quarter.
[01:09:36] Look like an ankle injury but when we all boil it down he did go down to the fourth quarter and then he got a little bit of a hit.
[01:09:46] He went down.
[01:09:48] He did finish with 43 minutes.
[01:09:51] Josh Hart played 45 minutes and then OG out of Nobby played ready for this one 47 minutes last night or yesterday.
[01:10:02] So now I'm going back to the garden.
[01:10:05] I guess you're going to rely on the crowd to get the energy and keep the energy going.
[01:10:10] So this is what I want to ask you which road team is more likely to win tomorrow or Lando or Philadelphia or Lando.
[01:10:22] So Philadelphia is done.
[01:10:24] Yeah I got Phillies done because you know Tim's going he's going to run his engine.
[01:10:33] I don't like I said I still don't like his inability to make adjustments.
[01:10:37] I mean you got if you have one guy scoring 47 points then there should be opportunities for other guys to get open looks.
[01:10:44] Like if you got one guy scoring 47 points your team total should be I mean give me 110 you know give me 110 112 especially if
[01:10:59] you got but you got to make adjustments like oh he's got the hot hand granny put up a lot of shots get some open looks off of that or put a line up out there that matches what he's doing
[01:11:10] offensively and so they're just being focused like oh we're going to just lock in on and be everyone's going to stop complaining.
[01:11:18] Well Mitchell Robinson didn't play didn't play and Heart and Stein was in a lot of foul trouble.
[01:11:24] So that's what makes it even worse is that you know like they had no reason to be out rebounded the way that they were yesterday without Robinson and Heart and Stein on the floor for long periods of time so I don't know.
[01:11:39] I don't think the Sixers quit. I just think that the fatigue you know it means fatigue took over you know you know no Tobias Harris you know still nowhere to be found you know we got an APB out on him.
[01:11:57] Yeah he might have one of the most like surprising contracts in the league considering the limited amount of production you get out of him for someone who gets paid that much money.
[01:12:11] Yeah, like I don't want to call it disappointing but it's like it's definitely he's getting $180 million.
[01:12:20] How many rebounds do you think.
[01:12:23] Josh Hart had yesterday.
[01:12:27] I think it's like 16 I heard that earlier.
[01:12:30] Yeah 17 17 rebounds.
[01:12:34] In B is the big body and he can't jump.
[01:12:39] So Philly might have to sacrifice and play two bigs at the same time and just have one guy just out there for rebounds because literally I've I watched the last couple of games, the game where you score 50 in the game before that when they
[01:12:56] had all the file calls last too many report but it you know New York score six points and 15 seconds.
[01:13:05] He didn't jump for either one of those rebound attempts when
[01:13:10] I'm telling you that this man is lighten up whenever AD's near him.
[01:13:16] Like like whenever Jamal Mary sees AD, he's like the little cigarette joining your car.
[01:13:24] He just he's just charging up, you know but the Lakers are going to have another half time lead here.
[01:13:31] I'm leaving you know their body language rarely looks like a teen that has the lead.
[01:13:40] Yeah, it just feels stressful all the time.
[01:13:45] Like Denver looks relaxed.
[01:13:48] They look like hey want to lose or regroup will make adjustments whatever case may be the Lakers walk into the locker room at half time and they just looked ejected.
[01:13:59] And it's like, I don't know what else you would need I don't know if it's just a matter of like you got the greatest player of this generation plan.
[01:14:11] At this age, with that skill set playing that high that you have AD and say what you want about AD for those availability he's been available.
[01:14:21] A lot of games this year doesn't miss a lot of games hasn't seen him in street clothes a lot.
[01:14:26] He played 76 if I remember correctly.
[01:14:28] Yeah, he played a crazy number of games like out of the last like 100 games not to include this series.
[01:14:34] You play like 90.
[01:14:36] I wonder if he trimmed down some fat or something like he lost a few pounds or something.
[01:14:43] Maybe like maybe started doing Pilates or yoga or something like that like just something else besides like weightlifting because Tom Brady did the same thing like he he felt like that plyometrics and just being more flexible
[01:14:54] Extended his career. It could be like he just got smarter and passing ball he didn't run didn't take many hits, but you know, throwing 50 passes and your shoulder isn't killing you elbows like killing it must be something to it.
[01:15:06] Yeah.
[01:15:07] But yeah, like the Lakers the Lakers just look like it's seen as like they look like they're worried about losing the game versus focusing on winning the game.
[01:15:16] Yeah, that's why that's why I like I was wondering you know or I was thinking the other day.
[01:15:22] You know we were watching stuff like LeBron throwing that tantrum and all that kind of stuff like is he just at that point of like, we can't blow this like how are we going to blow this tonight we can't blow this how are we going to blow this tonight.
[01:15:39] It might be is never lost in the first round.
[01:15:43] This team swept them last year. He probably takes that personal.
[01:15:47] I might be wrong then you are they lost to the Suns. Remember 80.
[01:15:59] That was the year 80 was hurt.
[01:16:01] And the Suns was the Suns went to the finals.
[01:16:04] Oh, yeah that was a two seven year. Yeah, so again.
[01:16:08] But then he came back with the Western Conference finals.
[01:16:12] Yeah, so I think it might be a matter of the fact that this team beat him last year.
[01:16:21] And there was a lot of those games are very close they had some leads or there you know they were shot here there from you know win in the game.
[01:16:29] And you're just like, and you give everything you have any probably knows like listen, eight years ago.
[01:16:35] I'm beating this team no problem like they beat him in the bubble obviously back in 2020 but he's like, if I had an extra gear.
[01:16:43] I know for a fact, I'm beating this team.
[01:16:47] And he doesn't have that extra gear and it's not another guy on the team that sees that or can make that adjustment.
[01:16:56] And it father time is undefeated we saw steps out Katie's out Booker's been in the league for a while he's out.
[01:17:05] Giannis been a league for a while he's about to be out things about to be out like the young guards coming you can just moment going to come to where it's going to be like hey the Minnesota
[01:17:15] the Reds are just going to be head and shoulders above the Nuggets.
[01:17:20] Okay see is going to be able if they can make if these guys can kind of put their contracts together to where they can keep their core together.
[01:17:29] I don't know because it'll be a lot of young guys are gonna that are going to be up for money.
[01:17:34] I don't know how you divide that up, but if they can keep their core together.
[01:17:39] So your your time your time when you're, you know, you're right off to the sunset will come.
[01:17:47] And I think he just doesn't want it to be now because they've had a half they had lead a half time and everyone in his games.
[01:17:54] Yeah, if you if you if you add up all the time in this series that Denver has have has had the lead.
[01:18:01] It's one minute more than how long that NBA game is.
[01:18:10] And we're in game top 73% of the these games Lakers have been in the lead.
[01:18:17] Yeah, and now you know they're only up three at the half right now so you know that probably in the back of somebody's mind in that locker room it might not be LeBron it might not be a D.
[01:18:28] The somebody in that locker room is someone someone's not going to take an open shot.
[01:18:33] Yeah, like it's gonna swing the Rui he's not gonna take the open shot.
[01:18:37] He's gonna get it the D low with four seconds left on the plate on the shot clock.
[01:18:42] Bad shot long rebound Aaron Gordon lob dunk.
[01:18:47] And now the score is 58 53 and Darwin has has called time out.
[01:18:52] Yeah, something like that so.
[01:18:55] Yeah.
