[00:00:07] Yes, you are now listening to the sound of Sports Reports As Ordered.
[00:00:14] And do me a favor out there.
[00:00:16] Like, review, subscribe, share, rate, do all the free things.
[00:00:21] Do all the good things.
[00:00:23] And I have with me, The Even Kill.
[00:00:27] Born in Texas, raised in VA, representing New Jersey.
[00:00:30] And he wants all you fools out there to know, New Jersey is America.
[00:00:35] New Jersey with the first baseball game in 1846 in Hoboken.
[00:00:40] America's pastime, America.
[00:00:43] Mr. Lodge, do not bring feelings to a fat fight.
[00:00:49] We packed up here.
[00:00:51] And of course, you got me.
[00:00:52] Your unorthodox statistician going left so much you thought I was South Park.
[00:00:57] Came up with the name Nanny Nichols.
[00:01:00] Going left so much, I got more moves than Bama trying to wiggle their way into the college football playoffs.
[00:01:07] Can't wiggle out this bag.
[00:01:09] Too fine.
[00:01:11] Let's go.
[00:01:14] So, Mr. Lodge.
[00:01:15] Listen.
[00:01:16] I've been hearing some talk.
[00:01:19] And it surprised me a little bit.
[00:01:21] And it's not because I think it's unwarranted.
[00:01:24] It's just because people don't normally do this.
[00:01:27] But I've been hearing the name Saquon Barkley attached to the MVP award.
[00:01:35] What do you think about that?
[00:01:37] Shout out to Adrian Peterson's historic season.
[00:01:45] What's happening?
[00:01:46] I mean, it's that simple.
[00:01:51] If you look at what the team did after he left.
[00:01:56] Mm-hmm.
[00:01:57] And what the team did last year that he's currently on.
[00:02:02] Right.
[00:02:02] How they looked coming down the stretch.
[00:02:06] You put him there.
[00:02:08] And even in a game against New Orleans, where it was a tight game, he had the big run that broke it out.
[00:02:15] Mm-hmm.
[00:02:17] We could talk about even the drop he had against Atlanta.
[00:02:23] That ended up, you know, they had to kick the field goal.
[00:02:26] He didn't get down.
[00:02:28] He just had explosive game after explosive game after explosive game.
[00:02:32] I had to bring up the line when I go front.
[00:02:34] But what he did Sunday.
[00:02:38] Right.
[00:02:39] I'm sitting there.
[00:02:42] Chilling.
[00:02:44] Underneath the weighted blanket, just getting my chill on.
[00:02:48] Watching Hallmark movies on TV.
[00:02:50] Shout out to Rich.
[00:02:51] And I got the game on my phone.
[00:02:53] Goes into halftime.
[00:02:55] Do my little run around.
[00:02:56] Grab my snacks.
[00:02:56] Sit back down.
[00:02:59] Goes to commercial.
[00:03:00] Sitting there.
[00:03:01] I'm watching it.
[00:03:02] Watching the movie clip.
[00:03:03] I think it was like the movie where the girl from the big city, from the small town, goes to the big city, comes back.
[00:03:10] Meets the guy that's in charge of the bar who he got from his dad who died.
[00:03:13] You know that Hallmark movie?
[00:03:15] Right, right, right.
[00:03:15] They got the big thing in the town.
[00:03:16] So I'm like, I'm watching that really locked in.
[00:03:18] I looked down and the score went up six points.
[00:03:22] But it was like 1449 left in the third.
[00:03:25] And Saquon is holding the ball.
[00:03:27] I'm like, did he return the kickoff?
[00:03:29] Like, did they put Saquon on kickoff return?
[00:03:31] I know he did it in college.
[00:03:32] So I looked at the replay.
[00:03:34] It was like, oh, so he just took a nice little stretch handoff and took it 70 yards.
[00:03:39] Now, like, okay.
[00:03:40] And then he did it again later.
[00:03:42] And then you can see Jayla Hurst pointing when he got through the line of scrimmage.
[00:03:46] It's like, that didn't happen in Philly last year, even at 10-1.
[00:03:51] And then I saw a clip today where he was, you know, from the sideline.
[00:03:57] And he was going up to all offensive linemen and the tight ends.
[00:03:59] He was like, we did it.
[00:04:02] We broke Shady's record.
[00:04:04] We did it.
[00:04:05] And everybody was like, I told you you would do it.
[00:04:06] He was like, we.
[00:04:07] And he kept saying, we did it.
[00:04:09] Like, you shook everybody's hand.
[00:04:10] He was like, yo, we did it.
[00:04:11] We broke the record.
[00:04:12] We did it.
[00:04:12] We broke the record.
[00:04:13] And everybody's like, yo, you really did it.
[00:04:14] He was like, yeah, I can't believe we did it.
[00:04:16] And it wasn't like he was, like, cutting them off from saying you.
[00:04:19] It just organically, you could just tell, like, he really respected what they did for him.
[00:04:25] Man, like, it's his to lose at this point.
[00:04:28] I know Vegas is going to have different odds.
[00:04:30] I know Lamar had a really good game last night.
[00:04:34] People are always going to want the quarterback to win.
[00:04:36] And I don't know why people always want the quarterback to get the nod when they already have the advantage.
[00:04:43] That everyone, like, they get the ball the most.
[00:04:46] They get credit for where it's deserved.
[00:04:49] But they get it so much.
[00:04:50] It's like, you got to look at touches versus impact.
[00:04:56] You know, you got quarterbacks.
[00:04:58] Everyone's throwing the ball 50 times a game.
[00:05:00] If you throw it right, if you throw it to the right guy and he's open, you can get four, five, six touchdowns out of 50 attempts.
[00:05:06] You give Saquon the ball 50 times.
[00:05:09] Well, you know what?
[00:05:11] You know what?
[00:05:12] I'm going to give you the reason Saquon Barkley shouldn't be in the MVP conversation.
[00:05:16] Here we go.
[00:05:17] That's what I call you, 2-5.
[00:05:18] There are no reasons, actually.
[00:05:25] But while we're at it, you know, so, you know, Hotbox, check out the Hotbox, my man, Cups, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday, live on Facebook and YouTube.
[00:05:37] One Mic Podcast, Mondays and Thursdays, you know, saying get those gems.
[00:05:41] So as you can see, I pulled up on the screen here, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.
[00:05:45] Listen, you know what I'm saying?
[00:05:46] Hopefully you can see that.
[00:05:47] It looks a little blurred out on mine.
[00:05:51] But, you know, but the point is that nobody's having a season that is saying that they should be the MVP, you know, in this situation besides Saquon.
[00:06:03] You know, Lamar Jackson, if you look at the metrics, you know, is actually having the best year of his career.
[00:06:12] You know, he's already going to pass his touchdowns from last year, so on and so forth.
[00:06:16] But the Ravens are losing games.
[00:06:19] But the Ravens are losing games.
[00:06:21] You got Josh Allen who came through with up lethal.
[00:06:24] He came through and beat Kansas City two weeks ago, you know.
[00:06:28] But a lot of his games have been ho-hum.
[00:06:31] We're just celebrating him because he isn't turning over the ball as he usually does.
[00:06:35] He only has five right now interception-wise.
[00:06:38] Last year he led the league in turnovers.
[00:06:40] You know, Derrick Henry is having just as good of a season, but he's not having the season.
[00:06:45] That's the thing.
[00:06:46] So, you know, but check it out, Mr. Logical.
[00:06:49] This is what I went back and did, right?
[00:06:53] So far in NFL history, there are seven running backs that have run for 2,000 yards.
[00:06:59] You know, they are as follows.
[00:07:01] Adrian Peterson, Jamal Lewis, Barry Sanders, Derrick Henry, Terrell Davis, Chris Johnson, and O.J Simpson.
[00:07:09] So, you know, so looking at that, right, I went back and I looked at Eric Dickerson's record-breaking season.
[00:07:17] All right.
[00:07:19] All right.
[00:07:19] So, he had 379 carries on the season.
[00:07:23] He had 200-yard games or two 200-yard games.
[00:07:29] His lowest was 38.
[00:07:34] You got Adrian Peterson back in 2012, last running back to win the MVP.
[00:07:40] He had 348 carries.
[00:07:44] Went over 200 twice.
[00:07:46] And he had a 199 as well.
[00:07:48] His lowest output, 60.
[00:07:52] You know, so Saquon right now is on pace for 21-51.
[00:07:57] And I know they have the game.
[00:07:58] You know, yeah, I was just about to bring that up, Mike.
[00:08:00] There's the 17th game now.
[00:08:02] So, you know, we probably won't look at that record the same.
[00:08:05] But I'm going to tell you why you probably should.
[00:08:09] Because obviously the NFL is different today than it was in yesteryear.
[00:08:12] So, during that record-breaking season, Eric Dickerson had 217 receiving yards.
[00:08:22] You know, or I'm sorry, that was Adrian Peterson.
[00:08:24] Eric Dickerson had 139.
[00:08:27] But already, Saquon has 257.
[00:08:31] He's averaging 6.2 yards a carry.
[00:08:35] And just imagine, and this is what Residente pointed out yesterday,
[00:08:39] just imagine his touchdown numbers if Jalen Hurts wasn't a damn thief.
[00:08:44] Nine times he got to the one-yard line,
[00:08:47] and he wasn't given nine opportunities to score on the next play.
[00:08:53] He would have 21 touchdowns right now at the very least.
[00:08:57] And still with seven or eight games left to go.
[00:09:01] So that's where Saquon separates himself from the pack.
[00:09:06] You know, so like Josh Allen has some monumental runs this year as well.
[00:09:11] You know, like the run against Kansas City to close the game.
[00:09:13] The run against Indianapolis.
[00:09:16] You know, and then, you know, you got Lamar Jackson is just electrifying,
[00:09:20] and he does what he does.
[00:09:22] So, you know, so from that standpoint, I feel Saquon is the MVP leader right now.
[00:09:28] When it comes to Derek Henry, we talked about this last week.
[00:09:31] You know, obviously I watched the game last night.
[00:09:34] You know, and he took over that game, especially on fourth and one.
[00:09:37] You know, but coming into last night, he had four games where he didn't even have 20 carries.
[00:09:45] You know, Philly is feeding Saquon the ball.
[00:09:47] Derek Henry is doing great things when he has the ball.
[00:09:51] But Baltimore isn't relying on him the way that Philadelphia is relying on Saquon.
[00:09:57] Yeah, it's going to be close.
[00:10:00] Because we talked about this a few years ago when Derek Henry did go over 2,000 yards,
[00:10:04] and I felt like he was the MVP because everything that Ryan Tannehill was able to do that year
[00:10:10] was based off of the fact that there was eight guys in the box, eight or nine sometimes,
[00:10:15] and he was hitting Tennessee Titans wide receivers wide open because of the play action,
[00:10:20] because of the fear of Derek Henry.
[00:10:21] Uh-huh.
[00:10:22] I like what Derek Henry is doing in Baltimore, but I don't want to downgrade the position.
[00:10:31] I think that what Saquon is doing is just has a little bit more value.
[00:10:38] I would put Derek Henry tied for second, maybe third with LeBron, I think as a tandem.
[00:10:45] But we all know in most sports, when you have two guys on the same side of the ball,
[00:10:50] even in like basketball, when you have two shooters.
[00:10:52] I got one for you.
[00:10:54] How about this?
[00:10:54] They get four votes away.
[00:10:56] How about this?
[00:10:56] When you got two MVPs, you don't have one.
[00:11:03] That makes it seem like a negative thing.
[00:11:05] I'm just saying.
[00:11:07] I'm just saying.
[00:11:08] No, they both deserve it.
[00:11:09] It kind of happened with San Francisco last year.
[00:11:11] I think people elevated Brock Purdy's MVP status, and people wanted to highlight Christian McCaffrey's.
[00:11:19] So in the attempt at elevation of Purdy's stats and his impact, and the fact he's a quarterback,
[00:11:27] he was stretched into the MVP race, and then it kind of took away from CMC.
[00:11:31] I think that's the same situation here, but I'm not sure if the voting media has Jalen Hurts that high on their MVP ladder.
[00:11:43] I think people just kind of look at Hurts as a guy who was a product of circumstance where he just,
[00:11:48] he's good enough and the team around him is stacked.
[00:11:53] But I don't think people feel like he makes great throws and decision-making, but meanwhile, every year that he's starting quarterback,
[00:12:00] they're at 10 wins very early on.
[00:12:03] Like, they're not at 10 wins week 15, week 16.
[00:12:07] Like, they hit their 10 wins around week 12 consistently with Jalen Hurts, the quarterback.
[00:12:14] But he didn't get that same kind of cachet as Brock Purdy was getting.
[00:12:17] And so Saquon, by proxy, because they've been kind of shitting on Jalen, is elevated.
[00:12:23] Whereas people love Lamar.
[00:12:24] Lamar's been MVP twice.
[00:12:26] He was probably the frontrunner for about two or three weeks.
[00:12:30] Especially with Burrow's numbers and the losses, it's like, damn, he has the same numbers as Burrow,
[00:12:34] but if Burrow had different wins, but it's like, okay, well, we got to give it, you know, get ahead of to Lamar.
[00:12:38] And people talk about Josh Allen.
[00:12:40] Josh Allen's just been good.
[00:12:41] But he's had spectacular years before when he was doing everything and he was throwing the ball all over the place.
[00:12:47] I think this year he's just been a very big quality game manager with big play potential at any given time.
[00:12:57] But he hadn't had to make many of those plays.
[00:13:00] He hadn't had to make that many big throws.
[00:13:02] You know, they've been playing like sound football.
[00:13:04] They're playing like they're preparing for the playoffs, and that's a great run.
[00:13:08] But as far as MVP, I think that's an electric award.
[00:13:11] I think the word value – I know people say, well, if you take this guy off the team, we get it.
[00:13:16] It's the most electric player award.
[00:13:18] It's MVP.
[00:13:20] We just call it MVP.
[00:13:22] You spell it Saquon.
[00:13:23] Yeah, and I think that, you know, when I look back at it, because I know every – you know,
[00:13:28] a lot of people are going to do the whole, you know, Saquon better than Eric Dickerson thing
[00:13:32] and all that kind of stuff.
[00:13:33] You know, the one thing that I'll offer is that he would have done it in one less game
[00:13:39] and he didn't have any bye weeks.
[00:13:42] So, you know, so I'm going to give a shout out, you know, to Eric Dickerson, you know,
[00:13:46] holding it down.
[00:13:47] SMU's finest.
[00:13:49] And I think Mike – hold on real quick.
[00:13:51] I think Mike said some of one of his comments.
[00:13:53] It was like – no, Cupp said it.
[00:13:55] If Saquon goes over 2K, he's MVP.
[00:13:58] You and I talked about this a few years ago.
[00:14:01] Right.
[00:14:01] It was like I made the argument that a running back that goes over 2K should be considered MVP.
[00:14:10] You were like, why does he have to do that?
[00:14:12] And our back-and-forth banter was essentially they set it up to be a quarterback award.
[00:14:18] Every year, I think – I believe it was last year, something like – I think Kirk Cousins,
[00:14:24] Jared Goff – what's the boy down in Jacksonville?
[00:14:29] Trevor Lawrence.
[00:14:30] Trevor Lawrence.
[00:14:30] I think even C.J. Stroud had better MVP odds than Christian McCaffrey like preseason, even after like a couple of weeks.
[00:14:38] Because it's set up to be a quarterback award.
[00:14:41] Right.
[00:14:42] Because by default it has been recently.
[00:14:44] So, you're like, why does a running back have to go over 2,000?
[00:14:47] It's like when you're at a disadvantage because one group is elevated higher,
[00:14:52] you might have to do – you have to be a little bit more exceptional than the other person who already has a head start.
[00:14:58] So, if you're racing, the guy has a 30-meter head start on you and it's a 100-meter race,
[00:15:02] you have to be more spectacular than that guy when the gun goes off.
[00:15:05] Is it fair?
[00:15:06] No.
[00:15:07] But if you show that you are – like if Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, if they both finish with 1,700 yards rushing,
[00:15:16] 15, 16, 17 touchdowns, there shouldn't be a quarterback in the league not letting Lamar above them.
[00:15:25] Mm-hmm.
[00:15:27] 100%.
[00:15:27] 100%.
[00:15:28] That's all I'm saying because even if you think it's Henry, you think it's Saquon,
[00:15:32] it's definitely not any other quarterback than Lamar.
[00:15:37] And I think, like I said, Lamar and Derrick being on the same team is about to get cold.
[00:15:41] It's not going to be throwing the ball as much.
[00:15:43] I think Henry's going to get that rock more.
[00:15:45] Same thing with Saquon.
[00:15:47] So –
[00:15:48] Well, to your point, even if you go back to last year,
[00:15:51] I felt Christian McCaffrey was MVP last year because none of the quarterbacks, in my opinion,
[00:15:57] were that spectacular.
[00:15:59] Like they had numbers, but they didn't – like when you watched them, it just didn't look MVP-ish.
[00:16:05] And of course, they tried to play hot potato with the MVP, you know,
[00:16:09] giving it to quarterback after quarterback every week depending on wins and losses.
[00:16:13] Where, first of all, let me throw this disclaimer out there.
[00:16:16] Just because I said I think Saquon is the MVP today does not mean that if he's not the MVP in week 16,
[00:16:26] and I say Saquon's not the MVP, I didn't flip-flop.
[00:16:30] I changed my mind with new information.
[00:16:33] So let's throw that out there.
[00:16:34] You know, now second of all, you know, lethal, my defensive player of the year is TJ Watt right now.
[00:16:40] You know, I think –
[00:16:41] He's rookie of the year.
[00:16:42] You know, I think that – oh, sorry.
[00:16:44] Oh, my bad.
[00:16:44] I say rookie of the year.
[00:16:46] So, oh, yeah, Quinan Mitchell.
[00:16:48] Quinan Mitchell, that's easy.
[00:16:49] You know, corner from the Eagles.
[00:16:51] That's super easy.
[00:16:53] You know, and there's others in the conversation, like, but he's just the best of the bunch.
[00:17:00] In a passing league, I give credit to the running back because essentially we're going to talk about, you know,
[00:17:09] as his MVP stuff.
[00:17:11] I want to point out –
[00:17:11] Actually, hold on.
[00:17:12] Actually, I just had a thought.
[00:17:14] Sorry.
[00:17:14] Actually, no.
[00:17:15] I'm going to reverse that and I'm going to say Jarrett versus the defensive rookie of the year.
[00:17:19] Not because he went to Florida State.
[00:17:24] Yeah.
[00:17:25] So, with Saquon and even Derrick Henry, but the main thing with Saquon is that Tennessee Titans aren't looking great.
[00:17:36] But Baltimore's always had a great run game.
[00:17:39] They just added a bigger gun to their run game fight.
[00:17:44] But the Giants basically imploding coupled with the fact that the clips from Hard Knocks –
[00:17:53] I think the clips from Hard Knocks are what people are seeing a lot of because we talk about a lot of MVP voters.
[00:18:00] Like, I don't know.
[00:18:02] Like I said, I don't know if – I don't know how many voters really break down tape.
[00:18:09] Especially when we talk about this with the NBA, with the MVP.
[00:18:11] I think they get a list.
[00:18:13] That list is probably an Excel doc with different stats on it.
[00:18:17] Mm-hmm.
[00:18:18] Seeing those clips of the – like the chairman of the Giants in the office with the GM who decided to pay Daniel Jones $40 million and made the comment,
[00:18:34] I don't know if people want a $40 million quarterback handing the ball off to a $12 million running back.
[00:18:41] When this guy says, if Saquon goes to Philly, I'm going to have trouble sleeping at night.
[00:18:47] And then one of your random assistants says, are we sure no one's going to pay him this money?
[00:18:52] So it just sets this tone for Saquon to be a guy people like already.
[00:18:57] Right.
[00:18:58] And then the Giants basically publicly with cameras around knowingly shitted on him.
[00:19:04] And then he comes out and he goes exactly to the team that the owner was afraid of and he's doing what he's doing.
[00:19:11] And then he did it for – I think his money looks like $37 million, 26 guaranteed.
[00:19:17] Yeah, that same owner and GM also had a kid tell them to draft Jaden Daniels too.
[00:19:24] Yeah.
[00:19:25] Like that's – so like you bring – we talk about this all the time.
[00:19:28] Like, yeah, I shouldn't feel like I'm smarter than GM.
[00:19:31] But when the GM's kid is like, yo, they could have probably realistically, if they tried hard enough,
[00:19:38] they could have moved up Daniel Jones in the offseason, taken Jaden Daniels at six, kept Saquon,
[00:19:46] what does their year look like right now?
[00:19:48] And it's not even like a crazy hypothetical.
[00:19:50] It could have happened.
[00:19:51] It should have happened.
[00:19:53] And it could have happened like that.
[00:19:55] Like not even like a lot of effort.
[00:19:57] Just move Daniel Jones.
[00:20:02] Maybe you'd have to jump the one.
[00:20:05] Yeah, you probably had to trade up.
[00:20:06] Yeah.
[00:20:07] I don't know if Washington, maybe they wouldn't have done it.
[00:20:10] But you could have done better for your team.
[00:20:13] Maybe you lose a couple of games at the end of the year.
[00:20:15] Like, hey.
[00:20:16] Hell, you could have grabbed Bo Nix.
[00:20:18] They could have sat – they could have sat some guys earlier and maybe ensured their draft position was too –
[00:20:27] all I'm saying is that they're doing it now when it's too late.
[00:20:30] They're doing it too late, yeah.
[00:20:31] They're doing it now hoping that they can get Shador.
[00:20:33] They're doing it now hoping that – what, you get Dylan Gabriel?
[00:20:38] And Ward.
[00:20:39] Like, now you're hoping.
[00:20:40] So now you're behind the eight ball.
[00:20:41] And I think seeing the discombobulation that's occurring in East Rutherford and the guy in Philadelphia is causing it to happen,
[00:20:51] like that shows more value than even what he's doing on the field.
[00:20:57] See, Cups, and it depends on who you believe.
[00:21:00] You know, because the Giants are saying that they offered him that deal.
[00:21:05] Well, Saquon is not confirming that they offered him that deal.
[00:21:09] No, that guy – the guy in that clip said, are you sure no one's going to offer him $12 million?
[00:21:17] So that implies that they offered him less than $12 million and he asked for $12 million.
[00:21:22] Because Saquon said some stuff like he only asked for a couple million more.
[00:21:25] Right.
[00:21:25] So when the guy – I forgot who he was.
[00:21:28] I want to give him credit.
[00:21:28] When he's talking to Joe Shane, the GM, he said, are you sure no one's going to give him $12 million?
[00:21:33] So that means the Giants did not offer him $12 million.
[00:21:37] They offered him less than $12 million.
[00:21:39] Well, I know last year they offered him – it was real paltry and he had incentives that was basically going to get him to the finish line.
[00:21:46] Yeah, he took a one-year deal last year.
[00:21:49] He had a franchise tag.
[00:21:51] He had a franchise tag that was going to probably pay him like $10.9 or $10.8.
[00:21:55] He took a one-year deal that was going to pay him like up to $11.8, but he needed like 1,300 yards rushing.
[00:22:03] He needed this many games played.
[00:22:05] It was like these incentives that he probably wasn't going to get behind the offensive line.
[00:22:09] So I think like the franchise tag would have worked.
[00:22:14] He probably said if he would have taken it two years in a row, he would have got a pretty good deal.
[00:22:18] But they didn't want to give him the money.
[00:22:20] And he said in many interviews, like they didn't even talk to him.
[00:22:23] He was like the only conversation he really had was that one that you guys see on Hard Knocks, that clip that he said,
[00:22:27] we're going to let you test the market, which makes no sense to me.
[00:22:31] Mm-hmm.
[00:22:33] Yeah, so there you have it.
[00:22:35] You know, we're both on board with Saquon leading the MVP race right now.
[00:22:40] More to follow.
[00:22:41] So, of course, this is your holiday out there.
[00:22:46] You know what I'm saying?
[00:22:47] Y'all going to eat some dry-ass bird and I guess, you know, party and play some games, eat some pie,
[00:22:53] and all that good stuff while I'm sitting there eating my crab legs,
[00:22:57] hoping that Jerry World opens up and swallows the Cowboys and the Giants.
[00:23:03] You know, so we got some games.
[00:23:07] We got some games up in here.
[00:23:09] We got the Bears at the Lions.
[00:23:12] So, Mr. Logical, I know that you are our resident Caleb Williams critic.
[00:23:19] So you giving them any chance against the Lions on Thursday?
[00:23:22] Hey.
[00:23:26] Caleb, football?
[00:23:30] Listen, I'll admit as the season goes on and I get more familiar,
[00:23:34] as the facts change, so does my opinion, maybe he'll be better.
[00:23:38] He's definitely going to need a new offensive strategist somewhere in the building.
[00:23:45] Someone's going to have to really devise a plan that's going to work for him,
[00:23:48] keep him getting hit, keep him getting sacked,
[00:23:50] and keeping it from being on his shoulders if they win a lose.
[00:23:56] Because right now, the way they're playing, they're playing like we're riding a dime with Caleb.
[00:24:00] And it's like, no, you need to help him so you don't die.
[00:24:04] Just ride.
[00:24:06] Like, there's a way you could have done that.
[00:24:08] Like, you have plenty of opportunity to ensure that this guy doesn't just suffer at the hands of another poor Chicago coach.
[00:24:16] And you saw that video clip I sent you today with each one of those coaches explaining why they kicked field goals on second down in overtime.
[00:24:23] And it's not exactly the same.
[00:24:24] Yeah.
[00:24:25] And 11 years apart.
[00:24:29] Because it's NFL, you got to give them a chance.
[00:24:32] But schematically, I just feel like Detroit is going to employ more weapons deliberately.
[00:24:38] It won't be accidental.
[00:24:39] Like, if the play is called for Amara St. Brown, that's the play.
[00:24:44] That's Jared's first read.
[00:24:45] That's the blocking.
[00:24:47] Everything is going to set up to where the play we called gets this guy open.
[00:24:52] If it's for Jameer Gibbs, the play we called is to get him on the edge.
[00:24:56] It's like Detroit is just more deliberate with their offensive play calling.
[00:25:00] I think they're more deliberate in the – I think they embody the energy of the coach.
[00:25:06] I think the way people treat Jared Goff, like he's some kind of afterthought.
[00:25:09] Like, you know, he played in the Super Bowl.
[00:25:11] He has playoff wins, playoff experience.
[00:25:13] You know, like he's done quality things in this league.
[00:25:17] And people just treat him like he's some kind of bum.
[00:25:21] Like he's rarely an MVP conversation.
[00:25:23] If you do bring him up, people laugh at you.
[00:25:25] Like, are you not watching football?
[00:25:28] So Ben Johnson's with – but sometimes you need that.
[00:25:31] Sometimes you just simply need – we talk about coaches.
[00:25:37] Jim Harbaugh is the reason Mike Singletary never got another head coaching job.
[00:25:42] Because he took the same roster, the same money, same ownership group, and took it to a Super Bowl.
[00:25:49] He just made it work.
[00:25:51] He's like, you know what?
[00:25:52] You got a couple of tight ends here.
[00:25:53] You got this quarterback that runs well.
[00:25:55] Got a cannon of an arm.
[00:25:57] Cool.
[00:25:57] You're going to throw a lot of short passes to tight ends.
[00:25:59] Deep routes to this guy who runs a 4-2.
[00:26:02] And then you're going to do a lot of RPL stuff.
[00:26:04] And we're going to win football games.
[00:26:05] We did it with Alex Smith.
[00:26:07] Then we're going to do it with Kyle.
[00:26:07] So it's like sometimes a coach just puts guys in position where to be open.
[00:26:12] Because there's only so much space these guys can cover.
[00:26:14] It's like five dudes in coverage.
[00:26:15] You got five dudes running routes.
[00:26:17] Somebody's going to get open.
[00:26:18] And if you set it up differently.
[00:26:20] Like I saw Will route last night or the other night.
[00:26:24] Dallas Goddard was like man-to-man coverage.
[00:26:27] He's like, all right, cool.
[00:26:28] If you see man-to-man and the tight ends inside on the trips, just run the wheel out of that.
[00:26:35] That way you run the guys up the field.
[00:26:38] This corner who's covering your tight end has to get through all this trash to get over.
[00:26:42] And Jalen just overthrew it.
[00:26:44] Sometimes it's just that simple.
[00:26:46] And I think that when you have coaches who understand like it's that simple.
[00:26:50] All we got to do is get the ball to our playmakers.
[00:26:53] Because there's plenty of space.
[00:26:54] We're talking about 52 and a half yards wide.
[00:26:56] But it's only so much space these safeties and these corners can cover.
[00:27:01] You block it well up front.
[00:27:02] You scheme it up.
[00:27:04] You're good to go.
[00:27:05] I think Detroit does that consistently every year.
[00:27:08] It's at home, indoors, pressure game, short week, rookie quarterback, first Thanksgiving game, coach on a hot seat.
[00:27:19] Without knowing anything about football.
[00:27:22] If I told you the Bears situation, five straight losses, or the Detroit situation, like nine straight wins.
[00:27:31] Or seven straight wins.
[00:27:33] Who are you taking?
[00:27:35] Well, so, I mean, I know you mentioned giving the Bears a punching chance because this is the NFL.
[00:27:42] NFL.
[00:27:44] You do that because I ain't giving them no chance.
[00:27:47] You know what I'm saying?
[00:27:49] And before I even get to that, I don't think Jared Goff was ever the MVP this season.
[00:27:53] I think I wanted him to be the MVP.
[00:27:55] But looking at it rationally, I don't think – because Josh Allen at that point was on one interception.
[00:28:01] You know, Lamar's been doing what he's doing all season.
[00:28:04] So, Jared Goff might have got in the conversation, but I don't know if he's going to be.
[00:28:08] If you got five – because they had Mahomes leading the MVP odds, Vegas odds, up until like week six or seven.
[00:28:17] And he hadn't had – he had pedestrian-like numbers.
[00:28:22] Okay, Mike.
[00:28:23] Okay.
[00:28:24] Well, so let me – this is how I look at it.
[00:28:27] When I look at the Chicago Bears, I see a young team.
[00:28:31] I see a young team with a bad coach.
[00:28:33] I see a young team with a bad coach, a young team, and a Diva wide receiver.
[00:28:40] I see a team with a coach – I can't even remember all that I said.
[00:28:45] I was going to try to do it again.
[00:28:47] But, you know, but also their defense, that was vaunted.
[00:28:50] We talked about how they never gave up 21 points in the last 20 or so games.
[00:28:55] That defense is falling apart now because that offense has been leaving them on the field.
[00:28:58] But can't do that against Detroit.
[00:29:00] These guys are making business decisions.
[00:29:02] It's like I've seen it – I've seen it at the youth football level, high school level.
[00:29:09] It's like I'm done.
[00:29:11] Like people are done.
[00:29:13] Like DJ Moore is a human.
[00:29:18] He's frustrated.
[00:29:20] Maybe he's expressing it right.
[00:29:22] But he's out there doing cardio.
[00:29:27] I'm your number one wide receiver.
[00:29:29] Every – they say coaches script the first 15 plays.
[00:29:34] I'm going to start to call that cap because I don't believe it.
[00:29:37] It works for Sanahan.
[00:29:39] Calvin Ridley doesn't get targets in the first half.
[00:29:42] I think Middle League Neighbors wasn't getting targets.
[00:29:46] It has been game.
[00:29:47] I know.
[00:29:48] It can't be in the first half.
[00:29:49] You've got to give them the ball, right?
[00:29:50] That's what I'm saying.
[00:29:51] So, like, I don't give a – I don't give a damn what the coverage is.
[00:29:55] At some point, we just got to go max protect and get Justin Jefferson the ball.
[00:30:00] We got to get DJ Moore the ball.
[00:30:01] We got to get the ball to Calvin Ridley.
[00:30:03] We got to get the ball to Drake London.
[00:30:05] It's like I don't care about the – if – but they're not getting that – they're not making that happen.
[00:30:11] Even if you got to force it, hell, don't squeeze on first downs.
[00:30:16] Like, just get the ball in the hands of your playmakers.
[00:30:18] That's what the Bears have been doing lately with the offensive coordinator change.
[00:30:22] They've been doing a lot more common sense football, you know.
[00:30:26] But also, when I'm trying to look at this, the reason that I brought up them being a young team initially
[00:30:33] is when you look at the last two weeks, you know, the block field goal against Green Bay,
[00:30:38] the game that they had under their control until overtime, and then they just suddenly fell apart.
[00:30:46] One, you can't –
[00:30:47] The Hail Mary is –
[00:30:49] The Hail Mary.
[00:30:50] It's also lingering, yeah.
[00:30:51] Right.
[00:30:52] So, the point that I'm trying to – you know, that's a young team.
[00:30:55] Their leader is young.
[00:30:56] That's a coach.
[00:30:57] No, I know.
[00:30:57] I know.
[00:30:58] No, no, I know.
[00:30:59] But at what point does a young team become not reachable, especially by that coach?
[00:31:07] Because you – what do you have to – and we talked about this before.
[00:31:12] The beginning of the game is coaches.
[00:31:15] It's X's and O's.
[00:31:17] End of the game is Jimmy's and Joe's.
[00:31:19] Yeah.
[00:31:21] But you have to be in tune.
[00:31:24] You can't make these changes in the middle of the year with offensive strategy,
[00:31:32] offensive identity.
[00:31:34] That's what the offseason's for.
[00:31:36] These guys come – these guys start working on the upcoming season in March.
[00:31:42] So, if you're telling me in October and November you didn't iron out what you saw in March,
[00:31:49] I tell you – I talk about this all the time.
[00:31:51] My son, first football year, my youngest son, he's 2016, seven years old.
[00:31:59] The practices we were having before with one of the coaches, he's like, your son,
[00:32:04] he was going to play in the 85-pound team.
[00:32:06] My son was probably like 77, 78 pounds.
[00:32:09] He was one of the bigger kids, first year playing football.
[00:32:11] He's like, he looks like he'll be a good running back.
[00:32:13] They'll probably have him playing running back.
[00:32:15] I remember the team last year from the 60s, he's like, looks like he'll be playing running back.
[00:32:19] But the first day of practice, this kid named Jai came out there, long hair, and they did sprints.
[00:32:27] And I thought he was on a bike how much faster he was than every other kid out there.
[00:32:32] And I was like, you know what?
[00:32:34] Even I know, I love my son.
[00:32:37] But if I'm picking a running back, starting, I'm going with that kid.
[00:32:41] And my son was going to be the backup, which ended up being – I saw that first day from the sideline.
[00:32:45] Me and his dad, I just met, like, who's this kid with the hair?
[00:32:47] Oh, this is my son.
[00:32:48] Hey, man, how you doing?
[00:32:50] I like him.
[00:32:50] My son was going to be starting running back.
[00:32:52] I don't think so now.
[00:32:54] That was our first conversation.
[00:32:55] So it was like, if you are an organization, you can see that our guard can't block in a helmet and T-shirt.
[00:33:04] You need to remedy that.
[00:33:06] You need to bring in another tight end.
[00:33:08] Do you need seven wide receivers or four tight ends, one that can block?
[00:33:12] Do you need to get a tight end or a guard that used to be tight end in high school or went to college as a tight end,
[00:33:18] and you can bring him in as your extra – like, you have to figure that stuff out.
[00:33:22] In March.
[00:33:23] Chicago just never did it.
[00:33:24] And now it's everybody else's problem when you pick to go to the Super – not you, but people pick and go to the Super Bowl.
[00:33:29] Right, right, right.
[00:33:30] And buying tickets.
[00:33:31] Well, I mean, so, as Mike brought up, the Lions are pretty banged up.
[00:33:37] They got players missing.
[00:33:39] But Aaron Glenn will still be there.
[00:33:42] And when it comes down to the X's and O's, who am I going to trust?
[00:33:49] Aaron Glenn or this guy that's been offensive coordinator for two weeks that got fired by Carolina before this?
[00:33:58] Then when you add that equation up, who do you trust more to lead the Jimmies and Joes through the rest of the game?
[00:34:07] So I'm going with the Lions.
[00:34:09] You know, I'll give the Bears some respect and say that they'll cover.
[00:34:13] You know, but – so due to Detroit's injuries, you know, I'll call it something along the lines of 30 to 23.
[00:34:23] I'd say getting your ass kicked on Thanksgiving as a bear.
[00:34:27] You can be like, I came all the way out to Michigan for this.
[00:34:30] Mm-hmm.
[00:34:31] I could have been at home.
[00:34:34] I think the score – like, I'm going to say 30, 30 to 17, late touchdown.
[00:34:40] Mm-hmm.
[00:34:41] But Detroit's going to be in control of the game.
[00:34:44] Jared Goff is going to be able to get a turkey leg.
[00:34:47] Jamar Gid is going to get a turkey leg.
[00:34:49] Panay Sewell will probably catch a touchdown.
[00:34:51] He will get a turkey leg.
[00:34:53] And then Caleb will do some post-game interview.
[00:34:57] And I think he's already faded.
[00:34:59] I thought he was going to be like a star where, like, cameras were always in his face and he was just going to be –
[00:35:05] but the team is – the team, I think, all the preseason hype and the pre-draft hype
[00:35:14] and what it's looked like during the season, it has to be a hit to his confidence.
[00:35:18] And I don't know who's in the building that's going to be able to, like, remedy that.
[00:35:24] Right.
[00:35:25] So, yeah, that's game number one.
[00:35:27] So, Dan, for game number two, we got to go to the shithole that I mentioned earlier.
[00:35:36] Jerry World, where, you know, we saw – no, it is a shithole.
[00:35:39] You remember that video a couple weeks ago with the sheet metal?
[00:35:42] Shit falling off the roof?
[00:35:42] Yeah, falling off the roof.
[00:35:44] Get it together, Jerry.
[00:35:45] Your team is falling apart.
[00:35:47] You know, your stadium is falling apart.
[00:35:48] That is a billion-dollar building.
[00:35:52] And sadly, I can't even go no further because even though they are going to hell, apparently they're taking my team with them.
[00:36:00] But, you know, they got the Giants coming in.
[00:36:02] The Giants maybe minus Tommy DeVito.
[00:36:06] You know, sounds like he's got a forearm injury.
[00:36:09] You know, Coach Dayball isn't quite sure if he'll play or not.
[00:36:13] Yeah, man, he's done.
[00:36:14] You know.
[00:36:15] We started looking for new –
[00:36:17] And I brought that up a few weeks ago.
[00:36:19] Yeah.
[00:36:19] Like, so at the time that we had the conversation, I didn't fully believe it.
[00:36:25] I just thought, like, hey, this is a possibility.
[00:36:27] Like, not because he's wrong, but just because the Giants have a quick trigger.
[00:36:33] They're trying to get it right.
[00:36:34] You got people like Shadur and Cam Ward in this draft.
[00:36:37] So, you know.
[00:36:38] But then when I think about it, I'm like, nah, Dayball, I can't defend this, though, because you're the one that benched him, sent him on his way.
[00:36:46] You know.
[00:36:47] I think they went with DeVito because he's a hometown kid.
[00:36:51] He knows the system.
[00:36:52] They can get a spark.
[00:36:54] The system is still the ball to middle league neighbors.
[00:36:56] Of course.
[00:36:56] That's the system.
[00:36:57] I don't know what Coach I'm doing or the system.
[00:36:59] Our system is still it to the wide open guy, which Daniel Jones wasn't doing.
[00:37:03] Like, that clip, like the plays I talked about last week, that fourth and three, and I showed it to you.
[00:37:08] Dude's wide open in the scene, wide open on out route.
[00:37:10] He threw the same route early in that game, too, on the other side.
[00:37:15] I would have gone with Drew Locke just for the experience factor, but it was a home game.
[00:37:22] They wanted the home crowd.
[00:37:23] Well, because at the end of the day, right now, it's all business for the Giants.
[00:37:28] It's business in how do we keep a very dedicated fan base.
[00:37:34] Living in the Northeast, because I've been here since 2014, and the Phillies had a few good years.
[00:37:42] Obviously, they had a Super Bowl.
[00:37:43] I think the Giants have had, like, basic, you know, mediocre average years, a couple of good years.
[00:37:48] But for the most part, I think one or two playoff visits, but nothing major.
[00:37:52] You know, nothing really post-Eli.
[00:37:56] The Sixers fans, Knicks fans, Brooklyn, like, these fans in this region are dedicated.
[00:38:02] And it's a large crop of people.
[00:38:03] You know, it's millions of people in this area.
[00:38:05] So you've got to sell at the stadium.
[00:38:07] You still try to win games.
[00:38:09] But when you put the veto in at home, you're just trying to fill seats.
[00:38:14] You're trying to get that last bit of $14 beer sold so you can pay off whatever the buyout is, Daniel Jones, whatever you owe him, and then move forward.
[00:38:23] And it looks like they're tanking.
[00:38:27] Sucks.
[00:38:28] But I would have started Drew Locke anyway because I think the fans still would have showed up.
[00:38:32] Because you can still yank, you know, Drew Locke at halftime and put the veto in.
[00:38:38] But you start the veto.
[00:38:39] You get the crowd.
[00:38:40] Now, Dayball, he's probably in the boat because of Hard Knocks and Saquon and Philly, which I'll go back to.
[00:38:48] The best thing for the Giants to do is clean house.
[00:38:52] You can see the ineptitude in your management team as an owner who literally said to the GM, I don't want to see him go to Philly.
[00:39:04] And he goes to Philly and he's killing it.
[00:39:06] It's like, dog, I gave you what not to do.
[00:39:10] Like, nothing pisses me off more when I tell somebody, don't do this.
[00:39:14] Don't say this to me.
[00:39:15] I was going to say that.
[00:39:16] Don't bring this kind of problem in.
[00:39:17] Yeah.
[00:39:19] So, but the fact that that occurred, Giants season is done.
[00:39:24] It's wrecked.
[00:39:25] Baker Mayfield out here doing a Johnny Manziel, Tommy DeVito move.
[00:39:31] Yeah.
[00:39:32] Yeah.
[00:39:32] Dallas might be, but this is the thing.
[00:39:34] Dallas is about to do the, Dallas is about to do what Atlanta does and play good enough to get the 11th overall pick.
[00:39:42] Well, yeah.
[00:39:43] And none of your game breakers are there.
[00:39:44] You can be like, I should get this guard.
[00:39:46] But you won't because you're at 11, you know, with the wide receiver.
[00:39:51] And then the guard's going to go 12 to Washington.
[00:39:54] And then they're going to leave the league in rushing the following year.
[00:39:57] Something crazy like that.
[00:39:58] It happens every year.
[00:40:00] Yeah.
[00:40:00] So, so the Cowboys, you know, obviously are the bane of my existence.
[00:40:05] And, you know, for reasons like last week, you know, and coming off.
[00:40:10] Why didn't they go for two?
[00:40:11] You know.
[00:40:11] That's what I said.
[00:40:13] You know what I mean?
[00:40:14] But Dan Quinn needs to watch the show.
[00:40:16] Well, you know what I mean.
[00:40:17] My favorite team.
[00:40:18] You coach Mike's favorite team.
[00:40:19] You need to watch our show because we would have told you under 20, under 22 seconds left.
[00:40:24] Go for two.
[00:40:24] You want to lose.
[00:40:25] Well, not even, not even just from that standpoint as well, but your kicker had already missed
[00:40:29] an extra point and a field goal earlier.
[00:40:31] So, and it wasn't, you know.
[00:40:33] Just, just, just go for two.
[00:40:35] But, but, you know, Dallas, as, as Mike, let us know, the pass rush is back.
[00:40:40] Micah Parsons came through dominating last week.
[00:40:43] Got hit in the knee.
[00:40:44] Got a little scary for a second, but he came back and wrecked to have it all over the game.
[00:40:49] You know, these two teams played on a Thursday night a little while ago.
[00:40:53] The Giants lost that game 20 to 15 because of what Mr. Logical alluded to.
[00:40:59] Daniel Jones just wasn't throwing it to the right person.
[00:41:02] And when he was throwing it to the right person, he was, wasn't throwing it the right way.
[00:41:05] He would lob it when there should be a little spice to it.
[00:41:08] He would take the spice off when it should have spice.
[00:41:10] It was just a mess.
[00:41:11] He's a mess.
[00:41:12] You know, so get that out the way.
[00:41:15] Tommy DeVito comes in last week.
[00:41:16] They score seven points, which took their average for this season down to a whopping 14.8 points per game.
[00:41:26] Saquon Barkley out gained the whole New York Giants offense by himself.
[00:41:30] Not only that, but Rico Dotto.
[00:41:32] 300 to 253.
[00:41:34] Rico Dotto is coming off his career high.
[00:41:37] You know, 19 carries for 86 yards.
[00:41:40] He's turning a corner.
[00:41:41] The offense is turning a corner because they're running the ball.
[00:41:45] They're playing Dallas Cowboy football.
[00:41:48] But then, but then, that man always got to be talking, don't he?
[00:41:55] Everybody just chilling, thinking about their nasty-ass cranberries.
[00:41:59] And really shitting on Thanksgiving.
[00:42:02] And he's sitting up here talking about, there's, the extension for Mike McCarthy isn't off the table.
[00:42:11] Hey, what the hell are you talking about, bro?
[00:42:13] No, I'm telling you, man.
[00:42:14] Like, listen.
[00:42:15] Everybody, everybody needs an OG in a corner.
[00:42:18] Jerry thinks he's an OG.
[00:42:20] He needs, like, a silent partner.
[00:42:22] So, I mean, it just makes me think.
[00:42:24] It just makes me think, like, you know, I don't know.
[00:42:25] Anyway, I'm not going to tell the Cowboys how to get right.
[00:42:30] We all know.
[00:42:32] What up, buddy?
[00:42:33] We all know.
[00:42:34] Nothing, nothing.
[00:42:35] Jerry's a good owner.
[00:42:36] I think, I think, I'll obviously tell you who cares about the team.
[00:42:39] Like, because there's probably, there's probably some owners out there who are, whose net worth might be 19 billion.
[00:42:46] And they're a 30% owner of the team.
[00:42:48] Oh, what up, E-bunny?
[00:42:50] And they're like, yeah, you know.
[00:42:51] But, like, Jerry, like, I mean, he is the star in his mind.
[00:42:55] Yeah.
[00:42:57] So.
[00:42:57] Yeah, in his mind.
[00:42:59] But, you know.
[00:42:59] I'll pick him the wing because they're playing the Giants.
[00:43:01] I just can't get a read on this game either way because it's two crappy teams.
[00:43:06] One that got lucky.
[00:43:07] One that hasn't gotten lucky yet.
[00:43:09] So, I guess I'll just roll with the tradition.
[00:43:11] You know, on the nastiest holiday food of the year, I'm going to take Dallas.
[00:43:18] What?
[00:43:20] I'm about to put you on timeout.
[00:43:23] And then we go to Lambeau Field where it's going to be a little chilly outside.
[00:43:28] The Miami Dolphins have lost their last 12 games when it's been 42 degrees or lower.
[00:43:34] Tua Tonga Viola on his own.
[00:43:36] 0-7 when it's 40 degrees and below.
[00:43:39] Game time temperature, 26 with a low of 23.
[00:43:47] So, I know Mr. Logical is going to get up on here and repeat some of the same things that I said.
[00:43:53] But, I'm going to throw you a bone here.
[00:43:56] Pause.
[00:43:56] Here we go.
[00:43:58] Pause indeed.
[00:44:00] I'm taking Miami to win this game.
[00:44:02] You're out of your mind.
[00:44:04] I expect a whole lot of A-chan.
[00:44:06] I expect a whole lot of screams.
[00:44:11] Faye, turn off the Wi-Fi.
[00:44:12] Faye, I know you're watching.
[00:44:15] Turn off the Wi-Fi.
[00:44:16] Mike is tripping.
[00:44:18] Don't be invoking her name.
[00:44:19] She'll do it.
[00:44:21] Listen.
[00:44:22] First, the Thanksgiving jabs you've been taking throughout the show.
[00:44:25] I'm appalled.
[00:44:26] First of all, sweet potato pie, yams, greens, stuffing, turkey.
[00:44:33] I mean, down here we call it dressing, but go ahead.
[00:44:36] Listen.
[00:44:38] Down here, around here.
[00:44:39] You got to put the butter under the skin before you do the turkey.
[00:44:43] You're talking about desserts and shit, though.
[00:44:46] That don't count.
[00:44:47] I'm doing my double stuffed Oreo brownies.
[00:44:52] Yo, it's going to be off the meat rack.
[00:44:53] That's how I get down.
[00:44:55] And then, you know, I let it slide a couple times and you threw another one.
[00:44:59] They're going to hit me with this Miami when it's cold.
[00:45:01] Yeah.
[00:45:02] Because now they have the running backs to do the job.
[00:45:06] Those running backs are there, too.
[00:45:07] You know what I'm saying?
[00:45:08] They just fast.
[00:45:09] And on top of that.
[00:45:10] Grab a Lamborghini through the snow.
[00:45:11] Will you pull some rules?
[00:45:12] And on top of that.
[00:45:15] And on top of that, I'm trying to trust Jordan Love, too.
[00:45:19] You know, that's asking a little bit too much.
[00:45:21] You know.
[00:45:22] I trust Tim Moore.
[00:45:22] You know what?
[00:45:23] I bet you this is going to happen.
[00:45:24] They can watch the playoff game from Kansas City last year.
[00:45:27] Granted, it was negative 26.
[00:45:28] Hopefully nobody loses their fingers this time.
[00:45:31] Which is like a 52-degree difference.
[00:45:34] They think about like 26 degrees and you play the game 52 degrees cooler.
[00:45:39] That's crazy in and of itself.
[00:45:40] Yeah, they got an 8-can and a cheetah.
[00:45:44] Kansas City, a lot of those guys, they wear sleeves.
[00:45:47] I don't think Andy Reid wiped his nose the whole game.
[00:45:50] I can see the Green Bay guys doing that intimidation thing.
[00:45:54] We talked about this before.
[00:45:55] I told you about Korea.
[00:45:56] Yeah, the American soldier stands at the DMZ.
[00:45:59] He stands at the middle by himself 12 hours a day, no cold weather gear,
[00:46:05] standing across the North Korean soldiers.
[00:46:07] Just that kind of like intimidation is like,
[00:46:09] this dude is really standing out here in this weather with no cold weather gear.
[00:46:13] So when Jordan Love comes out there, no sleeves.
[00:46:17] You know, Dobbs out there, no sleeves.
[00:46:19] Jacob's out there, no sleeves.
[00:46:20] Just out there playing in the cold.
[00:46:22] And Tua's out there on a turtleneck.
[00:46:24] You're going to see the difference.
[00:46:25] Yeah, I will say during that playoff game, Mike McDaniel and Tua wanted no part to that.
[00:46:32] Like, I remember very early in the game.
[00:46:35] Yeah, there was a play early in the game.
[00:46:38] It was a drop pass.
[00:46:39] And you could just see Tua like, it's like, instead of, you know, you see Aaron Rodgers,
[00:46:44] the way he reacts with a receiver.
[00:46:45] Tua wasn't like that.
[00:46:47] Tua was just like,
[00:46:48] well, it looks like we're putting.
[00:46:49] Wow, we got to be here.
[00:46:51] You know what I mean?
[00:46:51] Mike McDaniel was sitting over there like, damn,
[00:46:53] it would still be nice to be hanging out with Shanahan these days.
[00:46:56] The craziest thing is that, like, I have one of the parents, you know, that's, you know,
[00:47:03] he used to be one of my son's coaches and his son and Joe are on the same team.
[00:47:06] They play lacrosse.
[00:47:08] And lacrosse was starting, like, the winter we played games at night.
[00:47:11] And I was standing next to him.
[00:47:12] He's from Jersey.
[00:47:13] And he's like, he's like this.
[00:47:14] I'm like, you're good.
[00:47:15] He's like, I hate it.
[00:47:16] He looked at me.
[00:47:16] He's like, I hate the cold.
[00:47:17] I'm like, you're from here.
[00:47:18] He's like, I still hate it.
[00:47:19] I hate it so much.
[00:47:20] He's like, he's like, I'm wearing electrical heated vest right now.
[00:47:24] I was like, what?
[00:47:25] He was like, what?
[00:47:25] It was like a little emblem.
[00:47:26] It was like illuminated.
[00:47:28] He was like, I'm wearing a heat.
[00:47:29] It was like a heated vest.
[00:47:31] I'm like, y'all can't get those in Miami.
[00:47:33] But in that game.
[00:47:35] So like I said, I just don't have any.
[00:47:36] Miami, if they had a bruising running back or they used a fullback more like use check or something like that in San Francisco,
[00:47:43] where they just kind of let the big uglies kind of control the game.
[00:47:47] Miami doesn't do that.
[00:47:48] So Miami, they need guys running deep routes, balls in the wind, balls in the cold, guys getting hit, slammed to the ground and not catching the ball.
[00:47:58] You know, like guys always check out when they run a deep route and it's incomplete.
[00:48:05] But if they catch it, they get that adrenaline boost.
[00:48:08] They get right back in the huddle.
[00:48:10] It's going to be a lot of guys running deep routes getting hit.
[00:48:13] Well, I don't know.
[00:48:13] You know, in that Kansas City playoff game, we were like negative 30 with the wind chill.
[00:48:18] So it's not going to be that cold from that standpoint.
[00:48:21] But I will have you know.
[00:48:22] It's in that cold either.
[00:48:23] I will have you know, you know, the month of this holiday that you're celebrating.
[00:48:28] Tua has been the best quarterback in the NFL since his return.
[00:48:32] You know, so when I look at this, you know, he's completed 77.
[00:48:35] It's been abnormally warm.
[00:48:36] I was wearing.
[00:48:36] Nah, don't come on.
[00:48:38] Don't give me climate change.
[00:48:39] This is football.
[00:48:42] Okay.
[00:48:42] Tell me.
[00:48:43] Holler at me on Friday.
[00:48:46] We'll go 17 for 31.
[00:48:52] Nah, you know what I was going to say was, you know, he's completed 77% of his pass.
[00:48:58] Only Patrick Mahomes ties him in touchdowns, passing touchdowns this month.
[00:49:04] The only person with more passing yards, which is 23, is Jared Goff.
[00:49:10] So Tua's playing at another level.
[00:49:11] They need this for their playoff chances.
[00:49:14] This ain't the game that's going to get them.
[00:49:15] Yeah, but we talked about that previously.
[00:49:17] Like I said, I'm not dumping on Miami.
[00:49:20] I know.
[00:49:21] I'm thinking logically.
[00:49:22] I picked them to go 13 and four because even the late season games, they have a lot of dome games.
[00:49:28] This was a game.
[00:49:29] I was like, oh, November in Wisconsin.
[00:49:32] That's a loss.
[00:49:33] If everybody's healthy, that's a loss.
[00:49:36] They could come into this game undefeated.
[00:49:38] And I still would pick that as a loss.
[00:49:41] That's hilarious.
[00:49:42] I think that just would be a smart money bet.
[00:49:44] All right.
[00:49:44] So you're going Green Bay.
[00:49:46] I'm going Miami.
[00:49:47] Correct.
[00:49:48] All right.
[00:49:49] So, of course, that leads us to the fuckery.
[00:49:54] You know what I'm saying?
[00:49:55] So before.
[00:49:57] That's what you asked for.
[00:49:58] You know, yeah.
[00:49:58] Before y'all get mad and be on the blogs and be on Facebook talking about how this happened,
[00:50:03] how they get.
[00:50:04] Y'all ask for more teams in the playoff.
[00:50:07] Me and Mike had this conversation two years ago.
[00:50:10] Before they even like really approved, it was like if they go to 12 teams,
[00:50:14] you just kind of get four or five SEC schools in no matter what.
[00:50:19] Right.
[00:50:21] You know, and this is the thing with a team like Bama.
[00:50:24] They're going to get the excuse.
[00:50:27] And yes, it is an excuse.
[00:50:29] There's, as I would always say, there's a thin line between an excuse and a reason.
[00:50:34] You know, so Alabama is going to have the excuse of having a tough schedule.
[00:50:39] The problem is, is that if you have a tough schedule, you got to beat some of the tough
[00:50:43] teams on your schedule.
[00:50:44] Now, granted, they beat Georgia.
[00:50:46] So I don't want to be fully disrespectful here.
[00:50:48] Not trying to go there.
[00:50:50] But they lost to Tennessee.
[00:50:52] You know what I'm saying?
[00:50:53] They lost to Oklahoma, who needed to beat them to go to a bowl game.
[00:50:57] They lost to Vanderbilt, who even though they are Texas's best win, you just saw them lose
[00:51:03] at Death Valley last weekend.
[00:51:05] You know, you saw them get beat down by South Carolina.
[00:51:08] So let's not get crazy here.
[00:51:11] But the problem is, Mr. Logical.
[00:51:14] Oh, yeah.
[00:51:15] You told me you have, like, reason that a logical person like me is going to align with.
[00:51:21] No, no.
[00:51:22] Not necessarily that you're going to align with.
[00:51:24] I'm just saying that, like, the reasons that Bama's going to make it.
[00:51:30] You know what I mean?
[00:51:31] And I mean, at the end of the day, a lot of it comes down to SEC, just those letters
[00:51:37] being spoken in unison.
[00:51:39] Because it makes you think that it means more.
[00:51:43] Something is better.
[00:51:44] But it doesn't mean that, you know, because when we go back and look at this, let's just
[00:51:48] kind of flesh this out for a second.
[00:51:51] You know, people were happy and impressed that Ole Miss was beating up on Wake Forest.
[00:51:56] Remember when Tennessee beat Chattanooga to start the season and everybody gave, what's
[00:52:02] his name, Nico the Heisman?
[00:52:03] Nico 8, yeah.
[00:52:05] I don't know if it's his last name.
[00:52:06] We'll call him Nico 8.
[00:52:07] E-My-Eva.
[00:52:08] You know what I'm saying?
[00:52:09] But you know, they did that.
[00:52:11] You know, when I look at the SEC, yes, you have your wins like Georgia over Clemson.
[00:52:16] That was a big win, especially when they took them to the woodshed.
[00:52:20] You can't knock it.
[00:52:22] But then you're going to turn around and tell me that's okay because a team like Arkansas
[00:52:28] beats Tennessee.
[00:52:29] So that means that the SEC is tough.
[00:52:31] Or that means Tennessee wasn't as good.
[00:52:35] There's an alternative to this.
[00:52:37] Who did Alabama lose to?
[00:52:39] Besides Vanderbilt?
[00:52:41] Besides Oklahoma?
[00:52:42] Which I shouldn't even have to say because that should be enough.
[00:52:45] But their other loss is to number 8, Tennessee.
[00:52:50] Whose other loss besides Arkansas is to number 7.
[00:52:55] Bama beat number 7.
[00:52:57] So when I look at this, let's just hypothetically go down this road real quick.
[00:53:04] You know, let's say SMU and Indiana lose this upcoming weekend.
[00:53:11] So Indiana's number 10.
[00:53:12] They're 10-1.
[00:53:13] Boise's at 11.
[00:53:16] And SMU's at number 9.
[00:53:18] So SMU hosts Cal.
[00:53:20] Not likely they're going to lose that game.
[00:53:21] But let's just say they do for the sake of this conversation.
[00:53:25] Let's say Indiana somehow loses to Purdue.
[00:53:28] It's a rivalry to old Oaken Bucket.
[00:53:31] And let's say Boise loses to Oregon State.
[00:53:35] So where Bama is right now in this ranking at number 13, who am I putting in before Bama?
[00:53:48] Who would you get away with that is behind Bama right now, putting them in front of Bama as we look at this here?
[00:53:58] So, like I was saying, SMU number 9.
[00:54:01] Playoff ranking.
[00:54:02] Yep.
[00:54:02] SMU number 9.
[00:54:04] Indiana 10.
[00:54:05] Boise 11.
[00:54:06] So I'll take those off the table because those aren't realistic.
[00:54:09] But let's say number 8, Tennessee.
[00:54:12] They play their in-state rival from Nashville, Vanderbilt, who beat Alabama.
[00:54:16] 13, 14, 15 should be 17, 18, and 19.
[00:54:27] Because what you're telling me is that the top, there is a upper echelon SEC school, Texas.
[00:54:36] There's two middle-of-the-road teams, Georgia, Tennessee.
[00:54:41] And then there's three teams that are on the outside looking in of their own conference.
[00:54:48] So if they're on the outside looking at their own conference, they should be in the outside of this playoff bracket.
[00:54:54] So give me Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina.
[00:54:58] I'll swap it with Tulane, Iowa State, and BYU.
[00:55:02] Just move them up because I can't dictate what SEC schools do when I play in the Big 12, when my team is in the Big 10, when my team is in the ACC.
[00:55:18] So telling me that all the effort that I'm putting in in my school and my conference is I got it.
[00:55:28] And I get it.
[00:55:29] Like I said it earlier, you know, when the quarterback MVP race, if you're the running back, you get a 30-yard head start.
[00:55:34] I get it.
[00:55:35] But if you have a third loss, I have made up and closed that and surpassed that gap.
[00:55:44] You cannot be on the outside looking in of your own conference and be on the inside of the championship for the country.
[00:55:53] It's just that simple.
[00:55:54] I don't care how good your conference is.
[00:55:56] But see, but that's the difference.
[00:55:57] You cannot just continue, just be like, you know what?
[00:56:00] I'm not in contention to win my own conference, but you're going to put me in a tournament to win the country's tournament.
[00:56:08] And that's because, you know, college football and the NFL operate differently.
[00:56:12] In the NFL, we have these tiebreakers that say, regardless of what your name is, this is how we work this out, versus a system of subjectiveness.
[00:56:24] That's fine.
[00:56:25] And that's fine.
[00:56:25] But, like, you're on the outside of your own conference.
[00:56:30] You shouldn't be on the inside.
[00:56:32] I know.
[00:56:33] Hold on.
[00:56:34] Let me out.
[00:56:34] Let me out.
[00:56:35] Let me out.
[00:56:35] Let me out.
[00:56:35] Let me out.
[00:56:36] Let me out.
[00:56:37] Let me out.
[00:56:37] Let me out.
[00:56:38] Let me out.
[00:56:38] Let me out.
[00:56:55] Let me out.
[00:57:00] I'm just doing the inside.
[00:57:03] I'm just doing the inside the top ten with bad losses.
[00:57:09] Jackson Dart giving the ball away like free turkeys on Thursday.
[00:57:13] and then Miller was doing the same thing.
[00:57:19] Alabama got – Oklahoma had 50 rushes for 250 yards.
[00:57:25] I mean, granted, that's five yards a clip,
[00:57:27] but it wasn't like they were busting 70-yard runs over and over again.
[00:57:32] They only scored 24 points.
[00:57:34] That's not a lot of points in a college football game.
[00:57:36] But Alabama only scored three.
[00:57:38] So how is a team that just gets dominated?
[00:57:41] Let me talk about the Vanderbilt game.
[00:57:42] Their time of possession was like plus minus 25 minutes
[00:57:47] in a 60-minute football game.
[00:57:49] That showed that they were being dominated.
[00:57:51] How can you get dominated in your conference games
[00:57:55] and then you tell me you're in the position to compete
[00:57:58] for the title of the country?
[00:58:01] That's all I'm saying is like if you can't do that,
[00:58:04] I get that the SEC is tougher, but it's one thing.
[00:58:07] Like Georgia lost games.
[00:58:09] They were down 28 to Alabama, came back, had the long pass,
[00:58:12] to Ryan Williams that flipped the game again.
[00:58:15] But they battled back.
[00:58:17] They had the game against Kentucky that people probably felt they should have lost.
[00:58:20] But other than that, 9-2 dominated Texas.
[00:58:25] It's like they have the real bounce back.
[00:58:28] I think people are trying to sell us on this Bama bounce back.
[00:58:31] Like we didn't just see what happened 72 hours ago.
[00:58:34] Like once again, famous phrase, don't piss in my pocket.
[00:58:37] And like I said, I'm not knocking Alabama.
[00:58:38] I'm just talking about the way it's ranked.
[00:58:40] I'm good with them being in contention.
[00:58:43] But their contention has to start behind other people that have lacked them.
[00:58:46] You have to give people credit for the games that they play in their schedule.
[00:58:50] Everybody can't play their games from Florida to Texas.
[00:58:53] In that special region of the country, people have to play games other places.
[00:58:58] They have to play against other teams.
[00:59:00] Everyone can't play an SEC schedule.
[00:59:03] And everyone that plays an SEC schedule can't get credit for the top teams of the SEC.
[00:59:07] Well, thinking about a team like Texas A&M, for example, who's number 20, you know, last week they were in the catbird seat, as you said, to get to the SEC championship game.
[00:59:20] Now they got to win to get in, you know, but they lost to Auburn.
[00:59:28] Okay, it's the SEC.
[00:59:29] It's tough.
[00:59:31] Cal, who only won one game or two games in the ACC this year, lost to Florida State.
[00:59:38] By the way, the one FBS team to lose to Florida State, went into Jordan Heron one.
[00:59:45] So, like, I get the time difference.
[00:59:48] It was early in the season versus now.
[00:59:50] But you can't be the best at the end, but you weren't the best in the front.
[00:59:54] So you can't have it both plays.
[00:59:55] Like I said, but case in point, that's fine.
[00:59:59] But the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 SEC schools that are from 13 down to 20 should be 20, 20, 19, 18, 17, and 16.
[01:00:15] But there's a problem with that.
[01:00:17] Or down to 21, excuse me.
[01:00:19] So BYU lost their last two games.
[01:00:25] So they're 9-2, you know, but those two both happened in the last two weeks.
[01:00:31] One of them was 2, no matter how good I think they are, it was a team that was 3-6.
[01:00:37] That's who they lost their first game to.
[01:00:39] They lost out in Tempe this past weekend to the Sun Devils.
[01:00:43] You got the Sun Devils right there.
[01:00:44] But once again, BYU isn't on the inside track of the championship.
[01:00:49] No, no, I know, but you were saying that you would put them where Bama was, though.
[01:00:53] That's what I'm responding to.
[01:00:55] I'd bring them all down.
[01:00:56] But, like, what I'm saying is, like, when you're that low.
[01:00:58] So who fills the gaps then?
[01:01:02] Like, are you just moving teams up based on record?
[01:01:04] I'm leaving 14 and 15 blank.
[01:01:08] I'm starting to rest.
[01:01:10] He's doing this since 17 now.
[01:01:11] So 14, 15, 16 is TBD, and everybody else is 17 now.
[01:01:17] Because there's, like, honestly, you got, would you put South Carolina in the championship tournament?
[01:01:23] In the bracket?
[01:01:23] I would not because they lost to Bama.
[01:01:25] Would you put Ole Miss in the bracket?
[01:01:27] I would not because they lost to Kentucky.
[01:01:30] Would you put Bama in the bracket?
[01:01:33] If I had to.
[01:01:35] Would you put Arizona?
[01:01:37] That's L.A.Q.
[01:01:39] Would you put Arizona State in the bracket?
[01:01:42] As is.
[01:01:43] I would have to put Arizona State in the bracket.
[01:01:44] As is, yes.
[01:01:45] As is, yes.
[01:01:46] If they lose next week, no.
[01:01:48] That's what I'm saying.
[01:01:49] But, like, these other teams just lost.
[01:01:52] They lose.
[01:01:53] And we talked about me and you had an in-depth conversation two years ago about how they lead teams like Missouri and Texas A&M in the top 25.
[01:02:03] So, at the end of the year.
[01:02:05] This was, like, this was, like, when it was 14.
[01:02:07] It was, like, at the end of the year when Bama beats a team like a 7-4 Ole Miss that's ranked 24 for some reason after, you know, when they beat these teams earlier in the year, they leave them ranked.
[01:02:19] And then at the end of the year, the argument is, like, Georgia and Alabama should be in the top four teams because they have six top 25 wins.
[01:02:26] Well, Texas A&M probably shouldn't have been 13 the year that they, you know, like, is always set up to where at the end of the year you're going to sell out the stadiums no matter what.
[01:02:38] You're going to get the creme de la creme into these tournaments no matter what.
[01:02:43] Stop making it seem as if the first 10, 9, 10, 11 games don't matter.
[01:02:50] They matter.
[01:02:51] You got to give them credit when they succeed, and you got to knock them down when they lose.
[01:02:57] I can be a teacher and love a student.
[01:03:00] Like, listen, you got 90s, 90s, 90s, 90s, 90s, but your last two weeks, 70s.
[01:03:07] I can't be like, you're still an A-plus student.
[01:03:10] You're not.
[01:03:11] You got a couple of 70s.
[01:03:12] I got to bring you now.
[01:03:13] You got a couple more opportunities to get hundreds to bring it back up.
[01:03:17] But as of right now, you're trending more to the B student versus the A-plus student.
[01:03:24] There's nothing wrong with that reality.
[01:03:27] But they keep giving these SEC schools this new set of rules that they rate them by, and it's like, why?
[01:03:36] And see, but that's the problem, though, right?
[01:03:38] Because to win an argument or to have an argument, you have to show that you can hold up your side of the argument, right?
[01:03:47] Correct.
[01:03:48] So from that standpoint, right now, absolutely correct.
[01:03:53] Bama shouldn't get in.
[01:03:55] Ole Miss shouldn't get in.
[01:03:57] South Carolina shouldn't get in.
[01:03:59] So on and so forth.
[01:04:00] The problem is, is that the other teams don't always hold up their end and win their game so that we don't have to have these conversations.
[01:04:10] You know?
[01:04:11] I get what you're saying, but this Alabama.
[01:04:13] It's the same thing when we see bad calls.
[01:04:16] You say don't let the game come down to the refs.
[01:04:19] The Georgia conversation versus Indiana happened last week before Indiana lost a game.
[01:04:25] Because you have to.
[01:04:27] But that's what I'm saying.
[01:04:27] I don't agree with it.
[01:04:29] There was no losses yet.
[01:04:30] The conversation last week before Indiana played their game against Ohio State was a two-loss Georgia team was better than the undefeated Indiana.
[01:04:40] And I get that Indiana still lost their game.
[01:04:43] I'm not knocking.
[01:04:44] I'm not saying it's not a bad thing.
[01:04:45] But they were already planting the seeds saying that Indiana wasn't better than Georgia, making it mandatory for Indiana to beat Ohio State in order to change that narrative.
[01:04:57] And then when they do lose to Ohio State.
[01:04:59] And when they lose, everyone's like, see?
[01:05:01] Now they're overrated.
[01:05:02] Now they're overrated.
[01:05:04] But then.
[01:05:04] You rated them.
[01:05:05] Check it out.
[01:05:06] Check this out.
[01:05:07] Now imagine you hear this phrase.
[01:05:10] Indiana beats Ohio State last weekend.
[01:05:15] The narrative to get Ohio State back in the playoffs is Indiana's better than we thought.
[01:05:22] They're a well-coached team.
[01:05:23] We thought that this coach couldn't come from JMU and come to the Big Ten.
[01:05:27] Big Ten is probably the second best conference in football.
[01:05:30] And Ohio State, you mean to tell me a two-loss Ohio State team isn't better than a two-loss BYU?
[01:05:36] The conversation is never unmarried.
[01:05:39] The conversation is based on who do we want to see in January.
[01:05:45] And that's it.
[01:05:47] And that's why Bama's in it.
[01:05:48] There's no reason Bama should be in the conversation because it's not the next saving year where they won their, lost their two games on kicks.
[01:05:58] They got that ass kicked twice.
[01:06:02] A month apart.
[01:06:03] It's not like they had a bad stretch.
[01:06:05] It's up.
[01:06:06] They got their ass kicked.
[01:06:07] Then they had some mediocre games.
[01:06:10] Then they got that ass kicked again.
[01:06:11] It's cool.
[01:06:13] Yeah.
[01:06:14] I'm good with that.
[01:06:15] Just admit you got your ass kicked and stop clamoring for a position, a title you don't need.
[01:06:20] You don't deserve.
[01:06:21] You didn't earn.
[01:06:22] You didn't earn an opportunity, unlike previous years.
[01:06:25] Last year, I felt they earned it.
[01:06:27] 100%.
[01:06:28] I was with Florida State.
[01:06:29] I thought it sucked for Florida State, but I was like, well, if we're going to go with the whole concept of, well, this is a whole team and, you know, SEC champ and so forth and so on, I'm with it.
[01:06:40] That's where that comes in because just like we were talking about or I was talking about earlier, the difference between college football and the NFL with how we do tiebreakers and all that kind of stuff.
[01:06:50] But also.
[01:06:51] I so appreciate that, Mike.
[01:06:53] You know, but.
[01:06:54] But what also happens is that we get these thoughts in our minds and you allow people to paint a narrative of, is this best or most deserving?
[01:07:05] You know, saying like in the NFL model, there is no deserving.
[01:07:10] There is no should have been.
[01:07:12] Joe Burrow should get to be in the playoffs this year.
[01:07:14] He's not.
[01:07:15] Everybody that I talk to, Kansas City over Tampa Bay when it's Tom Brady versus Mahomes and they got beat by 22 points.
[01:07:22] Right.
[01:07:23] And no one's going to deny Kansas City an opportunity to play off the following year.
[01:07:28] Exactly.
[01:07:29] You got molly block on national TV and people turn the game off.
[01:07:32] But that's why they're afraid of it.
[01:07:35] And I get it.
[01:07:36] The problem is all the people in the room, I guarantee you have more ties financially and allegiances to the figurehead universities of college football.
[01:07:49] Because if you look at the rankings, look at the statuses of these teams.
[01:07:55] Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee.
[01:08:00] Those top eight, they rank bells.
[01:08:04] We got Peyton Manning.
[01:08:06] You got everybody that's ever played in Georgia.
[01:08:08] Miami, Legacy, Notre Dame, Legacy, Penn State, Legacy, Texas, Legacy, Ohio State, Legacy, Oregon, Legacy.
[01:08:14] Let's see.
[01:08:14] SMU, Indiana, Boise State, Ohio, Arizona State don't ring the same.
[01:08:19] So how do we fix that?
[01:08:20] We get Bama in there.
[01:08:22] Looks like Clemson in there.
[01:08:23] And we have what looks like a fair opportunity because they're going to throw Boise State in.
[01:08:29] And maybe whoever wins the Big 12, they'll throw them in.
[01:08:33] But for the most part, it's going to be 10 legacy programs, Boise State, and insert some random school.
[01:08:40] And that's what it was going to be all along.
[01:08:43] And if Boise State had two losses, it wouldn't surprise me if Boise State somehow ends up with three losses before the season ends.
[01:08:53] Well, there's only one game left.
[01:08:55] Well, I mean, I guess they could, actually, because they could lose the championship game, too.
[01:08:59] And I think that's what's going to happen.
[01:09:01] I think Boise is going to lose the UNLV in a rematch in the Mountain West title game.
[01:09:05] And the College of the Ball Committee is going to pop Aces, Spades, Crystals, and Moet.
[01:09:10] Well, I was going to say, unless Mike is right and this is rigged, because there ain't no way that they ain't letting Ashton Gentey into the playoffs.
[01:09:19] So whatever any means necessary.
[01:09:21] Nah, Ashton Gentey's play, like his bowl game will be on TV.
[01:09:26] No, but I'm just saying, like, Boise ain't going to lose a game because they got dominated.
[01:09:32] I mean, because it was a close game.
[01:09:34] You're going to have to dominate.
[01:09:35] They ain't keeping Ashton Gentey out that playoff.
[01:09:38] But, you know, but just looking at the matchups, you know, I still maintain that I don't like the non-reseeding.
[01:09:47] Like in the NFL, you know, if the number two seed wins, you know, they play like that second lowest seed than the first seed, so on and so forth, no matter who the teams are or what order they were in before they came in the playoffs.
[01:09:59] Whereas in college football, it doesn't quite work like that.
[01:10:05] So when you look at these matchups, you know, Arizona State, they got their shot this weekend.
[01:10:11] The playoff has already begun.
[01:10:13] They play Arizona in their rivalry game, the Commonwealth Cup this weekend.
[01:10:18] They win that game.
[01:10:19] They make it to the Big 12 championship game.
[01:10:21] Guess what?
[01:10:22] That's your semifinal to get into the playoff.
[01:10:26] So if they win, they're in, for lack of better words.
[01:10:28] But Iowa State is still in the conversation.
[01:10:31] If they win, they're in that same title game as Arizona State.
[01:10:35] If they lose, there's some weird stuff happening.
[01:10:37] It could be BYU.
[01:10:38] It could be Colorado.
[01:10:40] So this isn't what this bracket is going to look like when this season ends.
[01:10:45] The committee should want some – I know we talked about this before.
[01:10:50] I think we talked about it during the college basketball tournament and how people love Cinderella
[01:10:55] for the first couple of rounds of the NCAA tournament.
[01:10:59] That 15 beating the two or that 13 beating the four.
[01:11:03] It's great.
[01:11:03] But then after that, let's get the big boys in here, send the little kids to bed.
[01:11:08] And you're like – in college football, they completely despise this.
[01:11:11] Complete 180, you know, of a concept and ideology.
[01:11:16] If I'm in the college football playoff committee, I'm like – you have so many games.
[01:11:22] Check it out.
[01:11:23] The first one, you got four games.
[01:11:25] Then you get another four games.
[01:11:27] So that's eight.
[01:11:28] Then you get two more.
[01:11:29] That's 10.
[01:11:30] You get 11 games.
[01:11:31] So if you have – so what?
[01:11:34] If you get a first-round matchup of Ohio State versus, you know, Arizona State as of right now,
[01:11:44] and it's a blowout.
[01:11:45] You got three other games that should be pretty competitive.
[01:11:49] Even if all four are blowouts, that leads the conversation to next week of,
[01:11:56] will these top four teams really lock in their position as a top four team?
[01:12:00] Because right now, Boise State being four, people are probably thinking like,
[01:12:04] oh, there's no way Ohio State loses to Boise.
[01:12:07] So it's like you still get your conversation.
[01:12:09] You still get your narrative.
[01:12:11] You still get your commercials.
[01:12:13] You still get your airtime.
[01:12:15] You still get people watching football from – what are these games probably going to be?
[01:12:19] They're all on one day.
[01:12:21] They start at what, noon?
[01:12:22] Or they go over two days.
[01:12:24] I don't know.
[01:12:25] It's over two days.
[01:12:26] It's over two days.
[01:12:27] So you got college football on the minds of people for two days.
[01:12:32] College football, two days back-to-back.
[01:12:34] Four games in two weeks in a row.
[01:12:37] On top of the other bowl games, the other draft picks,
[01:12:40] because it looks like Colorado probably won't be in one of these bowl games unless a lot of things happen,
[01:12:47] because you know what the picture of, like eight teams still alive.
[01:12:49] So you still have that entertainment aspect.
[01:12:51] You still have all the guys getting drafted.
[01:12:53] You still have the NFL where teams are going to be tanking.
[01:12:56] You've got NFL teams that are tanking getting themselves in position.
[01:12:59] So watching the college football bowl games, seeing who the Raiders are going to draft,
[01:13:05] who is Dallas going to draft.
[01:13:07] Like the buzz around football sells itself from September to February.
[01:13:12] You don't need to manufacture it by giving me all these big names,
[01:13:17] because the cream's going to rise at the top.
[01:13:20] Right.
[01:13:21] Right.
[01:13:21] Right.
[01:13:22] And that's where we are, you know.
[01:13:24] So there's a lot to remain.
[01:13:26] You know, we got SMU in the ACC title game.
[01:13:30] If Miami wins this week at Syracuse, you'll get Miami SMU.
[01:13:35] So that could flip.
[01:13:37] Then once we get there, can the ACC actually get two teams in?
[01:13:42] But then you got Clemson on the outside.
[01:13:44] They're 7-1 as well in the ACC.
[01:13:47] If Miami loses this weekend, it's Clemson, because they have already wrapped up their ACC schedule.
[01:13:54] And then they get a winning end, because, you know, we'll see if they beat South Carolina this weekend.
[01:14:00] So.
[01:14:00] Miami, a 10-2 Miami, I'm putting in over a 9-3 Bama.
[01:14:06] But are you putting in a 10-2?
[01:14:08] Here's a question.
[01:14:09] But are you putting in a 10-2 Miami over a 10-2 Clemson, who didn't play in the ACC championship game?
[01:14:22] Well, because Clemson put themselves behind the eight ball.
[01:14:25] You got to, like, you got to jump the person in front of you.
[01:14:30] And that's kind of the thing with the committee, where I was talking about how they say they re-rank every week, but they don't unless things change.
[01:14:38] So, like, if the playoff were today, first of all, this shit would have been dead on arrival, and next year they would have changed the rules if Boise actually gets a bye.
[01:14:47] That's first and foremost.
[01:14:49] You know, second of all, looking at this bracket, if I'm Oregon.
[01:14:53] They would just have to play that game in Arizona.
[01:14:56] They'd have to play Boise's game in Arizona or in Vegas.
[01:15:02] They'd have to play, because Oregon's game, because they're figuring it to be NFL stadiums.
[01:15:06] They just got to figure out where to play the games.
[01:15:09] They're going to sell out.
[01:15:10] Make the ticket prices reasonable so you can sell them all out.
[01:15:13] Don't make them $700.
[01:15:14] Well, if I remember correctly, and y'all can correct me out there if I'm wrong, I think that once, so all the first-round games are at home.
[01:15:23] You know, on campus.
[01:15:25] And then round two goes to the bowl game structure, but if I remember correctly, the teams can pick the bowl.
[01:15:34] So Oregon can say, I want to play in the Rose Bowl.
[01:15:37] Because that's right down in Kansas.
[01:15:38] Right.
[01:15:39] That's the way I think I remember it.
[01:15:40] So I'll double-check it, but y'all correct me if I'm wrong out there.
[01:15:44] But I remember saying that.
[01:15:45] Or it might just be the first-place team gets the choice.
[01:15:48] I don't know.
[01:15:48] But anyway, so as you look at this, you know, Oregon is more likely going to play Ohio State in the Big Ten championship game.
[01:15:58] Unless, unless Ohio State loses to Michigan this weekend.
[01:16:06] But, you know.
[01:16:08] So that puts Penn State.
[01:16:09] Penn State plays who this week off the top of your head?
[01:16:12] Maryland.
[01:16:13] Maryland.
[01:16:14] So Penn State, I've talked about this.
[01:16:16] And it's at home, too.
[01:16:17] Being third?
[01:16:20] Being a one-loss team, sitting at third in the Big Ten, one loss.
[01:16:26] And, I mean, the SEC is kind of crazy.
[01:16:28] But if you were a Big Ten team with one loss, but you're still third, it's perfect.
[01:16:35] Because you don't have to play.
[01:16:38] You're in.
[01:16:39] I think Indiana plays.
[01:16:42] They play Purdue.
[01:16:43] They have Purdue, which should be a win.
[01:16:45] So if they're sitting at three and four, and then Ohio State goes up and loses to Oregon.
[01:16:53] That's what I was about to bring up.
[01:16:54] They're in.
[01:16:55] And I know, because the Indiana coach that asked him in his post-game press conference, you think you're still in.
[01:17:01] He's probably thinking the same way I am.
[01:17:02] I mean, if he's watching the show, he'd be smart.
[01:17:04] But it's like, so all we got to do is beat Purdue and just wait for two weeks?
[01:17:10] Yeah.
[01:17:11] Guys can heal.
[01:17:12] Guys can get a little break.
[01:17:13] Like, yeah, absolutely.
[01:17:15] Because who are you going to jump them with?
[01:17:16] You can't jump them with anybody with three losses.
[01:17:22] You can't.
[01:17:23] It's unconscionable if they tried to do it.
[01:17:27] One loss Big Ten school with, was it 16 teams in the Big Ten right now?
[01:17:34] 18?
[01:17:36] Some crazy high number like that.
[01:17:39] Some of like 16 to 18 teams.
[01:17:40] And you have teams one, two, three, and four with the total of, at the end of the season, three losses.
[01:17:52] Because Ohio State's beating Michigan.
[01:17:55] Indiana's winning their game.
[01:17:56] Penn State's winning their game.
[01:17:58] Oregon's winning their game.
[01:17:59] So you got the top four Big Ten schools with three total losses.
[01:18:04] And you're going to try to jump in Alabama with three individual losses of any of those teams?
[01:18:10] You can't do it in my America.
[01:18:14] We'll see.
[01:18:15] You know, like if some of these teams lose, I can't wait to see how it plays out.
[01:18:20] They get four teams in and Alabama's on the outside looking in.
[01:18:24] I'm not knocking it.
[01:18:25] No, no.
[01:18:26] I get it.
[01:18:26] I get it.
[01:18:27] I want honesty.
[01:18:28] I want to see, are you going to tell the truth when, not even the guns to your head, when you have to go to the mic?
[01:18:39] Yeah.
[01:18:40] Like don't shit in my pocket and tell me it's chocolate.
[01:18:43] Boy, stop.
[01:18:45] I was going to be bad, but I liked it.
[01:18:47] I can't say that.
[01:18:48] I can't say that.
[01:18:50] But I like it.
[01:18:51] I like it.
[01:18:54] You know, but yeah.
[01:18:55] Hold on.
[01:18:56] Let me let that marinate.
[01:18:57] That was a bar.
[01:18:58] Don't shit in my pocket and tell me it's chocolate.
[01:19:00] Yeah, I am.
[01:19:02] That was bad.
[01:19:03] One-on-one right there.
[01:19:05] You know what I'm saying?
[01:19:07] Don't shit in my pocket and tell me it's chocolate.
[01:19:09] You know what I'm saying?
[01:19:09] Hey, Dallas Mike said the weasels got a chance.
[01:19:13] Listen, man, I'm about to argue with somebody.
[01:19:15] Up in the horseshoe.
[01:19:17] You know what I mean?
[01:19:18] But yeah, so, you know.
[01:19:20] It's too many weapons in Ohio State.
[01:19:23] And like their defensive line is playing at another level right now.
[01:19:27] I'm not sure Michigan has the moxie at quarterback.
[01:19:31] Because you need.
[01:19:34] We talked about.
[01:19:35] Like we talked about the NFL a lot.
[01:19:38] And Eli Manning's Super Bowl against the 18-0 Patriots.
[01:19:42] The Giants defensive front was killing Tom Brady.
[01:19:46] No one was even close to the Patriots that whole year.
[01:19:49] That defensive front, if they weren't hitting them, they were disrupting them.
[01:19:54] And they knew, I don't have time for this.
[01:19:57] I don't have time for that.
[01:19:59] But they had shown, like, you know, this consistency from their front four.
[01:20:06] And they were rotating like seven guys in.
[01:20:09] Ohio State's doing the same thing.
[01:20:11] They're just attacking the quarterback.
[01:20:13] Like I said, this game against Indiana looked like a lot like the game against Akron.
[01:20:17] When the dude was on the bench with no shoulder pads on and dropped his water bottle, couldn't pick it up.
[01:20:24] Yeah.
[01:20:25] Just ice taped up.
[01:20:26] He's like, you couldn't tell him a joke.
[01:20:28] Nothing.
[01:20:29] He was hurting so bad.
[01:20:30] But he stayed on the sideline.
[01:20:31] That's what the Indiana game looked like.
[01:20:33] Just a meeting at the quarterback.
[01:20:34] And I think if Michigan doesn't hit some big plays early or some fortunate, maybe like a bad snap or fumble or somebody at Ohio State, it just seems unlikely.
[01:20:45] I mean, hey, Michigan got a defensive line on them, too.
[01:20:48] And, you know, Ohio State, we talked about it.
[01:20:50] They lost their center.
[01:20:51] They're already down their All-American left tackle.
[01:20:54] So, I mean, you know, Michigan could generate pressure.
[01:20:56] Was that the case when they played Indiana last week?
[01:21:00] Indiana's defensive line is not as good as Michigan's.
[01:21:03] Like, yes.
[01:21:04] But, yes.
[01:21:05] Okay.
[01:21:05] Yeah.
[01:21:06] They do.
[01:21:07] They look pretty good, right?
[01:21:09] Man, so look, man.
[01:21:10] Let me tell you about that.
[01:21:11] Let me tell you about the Hoosiers real quick, and then we wrap this up.
[01:21:14] All right.
[01:21:14] Like, so I was thinking about this because, you know, of course, the whole talk is Indiana is going to lose.
[01:21:23] They're going to be out.
[01:21:24] They're going to show that they don't belong.
[01:21:27] It's bullshit.
[01:21:28] You know, back to your point real quick, because you can't in one breath say that Ohio State is the number two team.
[01:21:36] They're dominant.
[01:21:37] They're a national title contender.
[01:21:39] But then you're going to penalize me for losing to that team.
[01:21:42] They're dominant team.
[01:21:43] You know, so even in your subjective argument, there's a void of logic.
[01:21:48] You know, but, you know, just staying along with it.
[01:21:51] Okay.
[01:21:51] Like, they got beat bad.
[01:21:53] That game was 7-7 in the second quarter going into halftime until the punter botched the catch on the snap.
[01:22:02] Yeah, gave them a first and goal.
[01:22:06] Yeah, and it was 14-7 at the half instead of 7-7.
[01:22:10] I ain't going to say they lost the game because of that.
[01:22:13] I'm going to just say it might have got out of hand.
[01:22:15] But you can't have that argument because Bama didn't just lose.
[01:22:21] They lost by 21.
[01:22:24] Their best win, even though it's Georgia, has two losses.
[01:22:28] Yeah.
[01:22:29] They beat center team.
[01:22:31] They got mugged for a touchdown earlier in the fourth.
[01:22:35] I don't know what the ref was looking at.
[01:22:37] I know, like, I saw a couple of clips of it, you know, after you've seen it live or whatever.
[01:22:43] It was like he was looking in the end zone, and then he threw the flag.
[01:22:48] People were like, why was he waiting for the touchdown?
[01:22:50] I was like, well, he called illegal touching.
[01:22:53] So it was like, you got to wait and see if the guy touched the ball because that guy wasn't supposed to touch the ball.
[01:23:00] So it was a bad call.
[01:23:02] They were clearly staggered.
[01:23:04] Ryan Williams was clearly uncovered, and there should have been a touchdown.
[01:23:08] But even then, that's 24-10.
[01:23:12] Granted, 14 minutes left, but they couldn't stop the run.
[01:23:16] Right.
[01:23:17] You know, so Oklahoma would have just been running the ball anyway.
[01:23:20] They were on the road.
[01:23:22] It wasn't like they had that touchdown changed the momentum of the stadium.
[01:23:25] That touchdown still had a stadium full of fans with the 14-point lead before the penalty called it back.
[01:23:32] Bad penalty.
[01:23:33] Obviously, they really got to do something about these refs.
[01:23:35] I know a lot of – I've heard a lot of, like, different coaches clamoring for the refs, and we talk about it all year long.
[01:23:42] There should be some kind of fail safe.
[01:23:43] They can't walk around like this shit don't stink.
[01:23:46] Like, if you mess up the call, someone's got to call in a real time.
[01:23:50] Nah, he messed that up.
[01:23:51] Right.
[01:23:52] And then let – and then make the right call.
[01:23:55] Like, I know the NFL, they have, like, the quick review.
[01:23:59] Right.
[01:23:59] Someone called it.
[01:24:00] Nah, nah, that was incomplete.
[01:24:01] Complete.
[01:24:02] Yeah.
[01:24:03] You know, so – but, yeah.
[01:24:05] I think Alabama had – they had their shots.
[01:24:09] And as an SEC school, you are given a 30-meter lead, which is essentially – you got a two-loss lead on pretty much everybody else.
[01:24:24] That three, you're passed up.
[01:24:29] And if you get it late, there's only so much you can do.
[01:24:34] You get it early, maybe you can bounce back.
[01:24:37] And Ole Miss, I better not hear a peep out of you because your three losses, none of the teams are ranked.
[01:24:44] You know what I'm saying?
[01:24:45] So, I don't want to hear nothing from you.
[01:24:47] Did they release a statement about Jackson Dart?
[01:24:49] Was he sick?
[01:24:50] Was he concussed?
[01:24:51] Because he looked like he was throwing up.
[01:24:53] Like, he –
[01:24:54] I haven't heard anything.
[01:24:56] And they ruled it incomplete and he came back out.
[01:24:58] He was like –
[01:24:59] Oh, I do.
[01:25:00] He just desponded.
[01:25:00] He looked like he was not connected to the environment that he was in.
[01:25:04] Yeah, I remember it.
[01:25:06] But I haven't seen anything to speak of – to speak on that, you know.
[01:25:10] You pulled into triple coverage.
[01:25:11] But also, oh, yeah, we almost forgot, you know, real quick, you know, Quinn Ewers, you know, getting that ankle MRI.
[01:25:18] We'll see.
[01:25:19] You know, we'll see.
[01:25:20] First time playing A&M in 13 years at Kyle Field.
[01:25:23] Playoff chances on the line.
[01:25:25] They got Arch Manning.
[01:25:26] You know one thing, he's – Arch is going to get some great quality quarterback advice over Thanksgiving.
[01:25:34] Like, when his whole family's sitting there on FaceTime.
[01:25:39] I mean, it's like, listen, man, these are the moments that you got to do.
[01:25:42] You got a few Super Bowls and a couple Hall of Famers in your family.
[01:25:46] I think you're good to go.
[01:25:48] So, Texas has good problems.
[01:25:50] For sure.
[01:25:51] You know, but we will be back on Friday.
[01:25:54] You know, happy whatever day to y'all.
[01:25:58] You know, do me a favor out there.
[01:26:00] Enjoy the football.
[01:26:02] Have fun.
[01:26:03] Spend time with your family that you could have been spending on May 1st, but it ain't have a title on it.
[01:26:08] So, you didn't.
[01:26:09] You know what I'm saying?
[01:26:10] Have fun.
[01:26:11] Watch football.
[01:26:13] Keep up with the NBA.
[01:26:14] We'll be talking some of that on Friday.
[01:26:16] Russell Westbrook with 24 points in the fourth quarter last night, and they lost by 27.
[01:26:23] Whew.
[01:26:24] NBA is weird.
[01:26:25] That's nasty.
[01:26:27] That's nasty.
[01:26:28] But we're going to have picks.
[01:26:30] Picks.
[01:26:30] And when we run out of those, we're going to have more picks.
[01:26:32] Picks.
[01:26:33] Like, review, subscribe, share, rate.
[01:26:35] Do all the free things.
[01:26:39] Do all the good things.
[01:26:41] He is the one and only Mr. Logical.
[01:26:44] Don't bring feelings to a fact fight.
[01:26:47] Don't do it.
[01:26:48] And it's 2-5.
[01:26:49] We'll be back on Friday.
[01:26:51] See you then.
[01:26:55] Peace.
