DYNASTY ROC LA MAHOMES

The guys recap the Chiefs Super Bowl win over the 49ers. And of course, get it off my chest.

[00:00:00] Oh, don't rate me.

[00:00:05] Last old Latino.

[00:00:09] It's sports reports is ordered.

[00:00:12] Mr. Logical.

[00:00:14] You don't bring feelings for a fact fight.

[00:00:18] Not at all.

[00:00:20] D.A. born.

[00:00:22] Jersey's own.

[00:00:25] Air Force vet dedicated. What the fuck is a game changer? Why are we changing the definition of game manager in real time? When I watched Brought Purdy, I don't see Jimmy Garoppolo or Alex Smith. I don't see Trent Dilfer or old man Brad Johnson that won a Super Bowl.

[00:01:44] But just walk down this path with me.

[00:01:45] Let's go down the yellow brick road for a second.

[00:02:42] I ain't seen him in the Super Bowl.

[00:02:46] He got a nice team that, you know, for the last, before this season, the prior three years,

[00:02:48] they had a top three defense, had Stephon Diggs.

[00:02:52] Now they got a running game.

[00:02:55] And then, oh, now that I think about it,

[00:02:58] he might be a game changer.

[00:03:00] He changes the fortune of the other team.

[00:04:09] I checked. Brock Purdy is in his second year. He was a seventh round draft pick. So what are we even arguing? Or are we just arguing because we like to argue or because some celebrity said something

[00:04:16] stupid and since he's a celebrity y'all clicked on it and y'all just gonna keep repeating everything that past but last night, a Super Bowl nothing he look, he looked more comfortable on the field than I've seen two in the last few big games. Then Lamar looked in the ASU championship game. He looked more comfortable than Jimmy Grapplo ever really did in that offense.

[00:05:42] It just he was playing against a guy who was a third stringer came up, got his opportunity. And it's not letting it go. Like that's what everybody wants for their own story to be. I relied on me. I depended on me. I did what I need to do and now look at me

[00:08:03] to the first couple of possessions versus having to claw back in. Brock Perdy had them up 10-0.

[00:08:05] Now that I'm a little bit older, I like to look at the full picture, right?

[00:08:10] So when I'm looking at the full picture,

[00:08:12] I understand that Brock Perdy has the Power Rangers next to him.

[00:08:18] You know what I'm saying? He's got the squad.

[00:08:20] But every good NFL team does.

[00:08:23] Well, this is what I was just about to say,

[00:08:24] because Kirk Cousins got what? with this team. So if you're going to, if you will criticize him for that, how are you going to criticize him for succeeding with the team that obviously it's not that easy? And the thing about, I think Cam Newton should probably more identify with Brock Purdy than his statements. Because if you think about Cam, Cam with the Florida,

[00:09:42] had his issue, got kicked out, went to junior college, went to Auburn. Auburn didn't have

[00:10:47] But it's like, he is not out here telling people that he's the best quarterback or anything else.

[00:10:49] All he's doing is stepping up every single opportunity being ready for

[00:10:52] the moment.

[00:10:53] I got criticized him for playing poorly against Green Bay,

[00:10:56] playing poorly against Detroit.

[00:10:58] And I thought he would make one or two bad plays in this game and he didn't.

[00:11:04] And the things that he did against Green Bay in Detroit, there should be the MVP, but go ahead. Last night, I didn't. Granted, we had this conversation when I was four or five tequila sunrises deep, but I thought Chris Jones was very impactful, but what my homes did for the game is why he was MVP.

[00:12:24] The runs, the fourth and it off the stats off the, I think catching a touchdown.

[00:13:41] I think he only had about 40 yards to see.

[00:13:43] Through a touchdown.

[00:14:42] he's out there singular by himself on the tackle. You don't know if it's Nick Bolton

[00:14:44] or Tranquil that got tackled

[00:14:46] while you're watching the play until like,

[00:14:48] you know, it all kinds of pans out.

[00:14:49] So you would need an impact plays a defensive player.

[00:14:53] I think Chris Jones was probably like the,

[00:14:57] one of the biggest factors in the push up front,

[00:15:00] but he needed like a sack or strip sack or something.

[00:15:04] Maybe a sack that kids gets them out of field goal range.

[00:15:06] You need something. No, we didn't say that. Well, we didn't say that. Ayla said that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But that's what we're doing with Patrick Mahomes though. You know, they didn't even score their first touchdown until the third quarter after they got the ball at the 13 because they hit a dude in the foot. Yeah. And he's through it. And he's covered it. Up until that point, now, yes, Chris Jones didn't have a sack.

[00:16:20] You know, he had six pressers, two quarterback hits.

[00:16:23] He had only four tackles.

[00:16:25] I get it. and he threw four touchdown passes, I can't even make the argument that I'm making right now. You know, they scored, what, six points in the first half? Three. Three points. Three points in the first half, 10 to three. And that's where, like, for me, I'm just saying that if you're going to be most valuable, you should probably be most valuable

[00:17:42] for the majority of the game.

[00:17:45] Not just this drive or this court. He hasn't played like the MVP season guy the whole game. But ironically, Tom Brady in New England was the same way. I don't think they had a first quarter touchdown and almost all of their Super Bowls. Yeah, just like last year, they don't win that game without Kedarius Tony's punt return. Yeah, so it just like, I think I get that.

[00:19:03] Damian Williams, the previous Super Bowl,

[00:19:05] they don't win without Damian Williams.

[00:19:07] Yeah, but in that game, the one guy that made the game changing plays when the game was on the line was Patrick Mahomes. That's why he's MVP. I'm not saying Christian. That's not true though. What Mahomes does doesn't even matter if Jones doesn't get through on that play. Well, they still scored a touchdown.

[00:20:21] They scored a field goal.

[00:20:22] They scored a field goal.

[00:20:23] No, that's what I'm saying.

[00:20:24] Like, but the video.

[00:20:25] Yeah, like, okay,

[00:20:26] Sam's just goes through. man, you can't do this and do that. He plays like shit for like 60% of the game. And we're like, oh, but he showed up when it mattered. Like when Shaq was talking about, I hit the free throws when they matter. Well, you might have some more championships if you would have hit the other ones too. Like I said, I get your argument. I like I said, I understand your argument,

[00:21:42] but you do wanna think that you don't like what people do.

[00:21:45] When people take the results at the end

[00:21:47] and then you facilitate like a whole different. Now Tom Brady, if the score was 13-10 and he made that interception, he'll probably end up being MVP because it took the win away from Seattle. But Tom Brady had all the other drives because he didn't play great. They were down 10 in the second half. He didn't play great when they beat Kansas City in the Super Bowl. Like that's what I'm saying.

[00:23:00] Like sometimes the quarterback just becomes the default.

[00:23:03] And I think, like I'm not trying to say that Patrick Mahomes did not.

[00:23:07] I'm not saying that he just par for the course. Like no quarterback is going to win it with zero touchdowns. Tom Brady, he got his first MVP because he led that final drive because everything was pretty even. There was a tie game when you get the ball back, everyone thought it was going to go, they're going to take a knee, but then he leads the drive and Venetary makes the kick.

[00:24:22] So it was like, okay.

[00:24:24] No, I know that realistically,

[00:24:26] Mahomes was going to win it. it was such a, he, Patch Mahoney played average for 35 minutes, 35, 40 minutes. And then he plays spectacular for 25 minutes. Right. And the 25 minutes,

[00:25:40] cause he had the one bad interception

[00:25:44] cause it was bad, it was overthrown to Kelsey,

[00:25:45] which is rare for him.

[00:25:47] And then to bounce back, like I said,

[00:25:48] I was talking last night, I normally try not to go there. I normally try not to go there. Here we go. Let's go I agree with AJ Brown and Tyree kill You don't say I agree with him what they say. They said if he was black it'd be all over the news Yeah Like AJ Brown was basically like, you know Like I'd have got kicked off the team or something or like, you know, or like well I don't know if he would have got kicked off the team. That's a little hyperbole obviously, but yeah, but yeah

[00:27:02] It would definitely be leading all the shows. I listen to like five different

[00:28:03] even if it was regarding a black player, any player, I think it gets brought up too much because

[00:28:06] do you realize what these men are putting their bodies

[00:28:08] through to play this game

[00:28:09] and you want them to be the level-headed?

[00:28:11] That's why I hate when you get like a taunting call

[00:28:13] for like, remember that year, the year

[00:28:15] when they would just able calling taunting every week.

[00:28:20] Yeah.

[00:28:20] Like every week in big moments

[00:28:22] they were calling taunting calls.

[00:28:23] How's the quality of the take a touchdown away

[00:28:24] if you're taunting all your way to the LSU kicker

[00:28:27] that one time. The drag route was huge, so they would go trips. They would like stack on the left side and run somebody underneath. McKinnon, when he caught his pass, I think late in the fourth, maybe overtime, they slipped him out, but Rishi Rice had did like a little curl route. False alarm, false alarm, I's ridiculous. So they see receiving, you know, but yeah, so, you know, Kansas City left the corners on the island and that's why I was trying to make such a big deal, even though I know he can't win the MVP, somebody like Chris Jones and McDuffie had a great game too, you

[00:31:01] know, but, but I wanted to point catches for 57 yards. Right. You know. MVS tried to shack the fool on us.

[00:32:22] Yeah, he had three catches for 20 yards in the touchdown.

[00:32:25] And he should have 28 yards, but he ran the wrong way.

[00:33:22] I believe is probably Chris Jones. Well, he, or what's his name?

[00:33:25] Sneed is a free agent, you know?

[00:33:27] So we'll see if he goes and get paid.

[00:33:30] I know that as I was looking at the game,

[00:33:35] I know everybody wants to bang on Kyle Shanahan.

[00:33:39] You know, I don't see it either.

[00:33:42] Like the only complaint that I have,

[00:33:44] the only complaint that I had,

[00:33:47] well, I have two and 10, I think in the fourth? Fourth quarter, yeah. When they, like after, so 16, 13, fourth quarter, I think Bolsa came around the edge, and I believe he got hung up. I'll try to find it. Yeah, and then we had Chase Young, I saw a play where like, he got bear hugged by the lineman

[00:35:01] and then another dude was coming in from the side too.

[00:35:04] And, you know, that was the play to Hartman, the big play.

[00:36:02] Well, that's what I was just about to say. That's the other sports thing that I hate,

[00:36:04] is that everybody complains about refs.

[00:36:07] Then they tell on themselves,

[00:36:10] like, when we watch a basketball, they say,

[00:36:12] you can't call that on LeBron,

[00:36:14] you can't call that on Kawhi,

[00:36:15] you can't call that on Giannis.

[00:36:16] Then they say, oh, but it was only three seconds left.

[00:36:19] You can't call a foul there.

[00:36:21] So is it a foul or is it not?

[00:36:22] So with Kansas City, you know, you can't,

[00:36:25] like, I gotta call it if they're traveling every possession. It's one thing if it like, you know, it happens every so often. He's like, you know, trying to get a flow to the game. I'm like, I get that.

[00:37:40] But so then the next travel call,

[00:37:43] cause called on us,

[00:37:46] when our kid got pushed with two hands, fray in the middle, sometimes you can't call. Like I say, you can go holding every time. I don't even know what the holding rule is in the NFL. People, they say if you keep your hands inside, so I'm like, okay, so if you're here, so Trent, you just can't see me hold. Yeah. So my hands are inside. It's not a hole. So if you got somebody right here, it's good. But as soon as they try to get away and it's this, that's a hold. I'm like,

[00:40:05] remember when Kyrie wanted to go to the Lakers? Brooklyn dealing with the Lakers.

[00:40:08] You know, but uh,

[00:40:10] probably Travis Kelce though,

[00:40:11] because when he wasn't pushing his coach,

[00:40:14] you know he was out here hitting 19.8 miles an hour as a third.

[00:40:17] I was going to say, I was going to say that Nick Wright said on the show,

[00:40:21] he's like, that's the fastest Kelce has ever been clocked,

[00:40:23] has been clocked to seven years.

[00:40:25] That's crazy.

[00:40:27] That's that's the passion. I think he gets he gets the whatever points you need, whatever amount of yards you need, I think he gets it. But if I'm San Francisco, I run it back. I don't know. I think I might go if I was San Francisco to one thing I would look at is potentially it didn't come into play in this game. But I think I would go get another corner.

[00:41:45] I don't know.

[00:41:46] Maybe maybe some interior offensive line. From what I was reading today, it sounds like Reed is leaning towards coming back. Like it sounds like, he says he got a few more in him. It sounded like Kelsey was along the same lines of, he's got a couple of more in him. As far as defensively, if they lose Snead, that'll obviously be a big loss. They had another one of the corners got injured, I think he broke his leg.

[00:43:04] Yeah.

[00:43:04] Yeah.

[00:43:06] So I think he'll be back.

[00:43:07] He's a young look, you know, that I thought was absolutely crazy when I saw it, you know what I'm saying? But it worked, you know, putting him as the Mike linebacker.

[00:44:21] I think that they just did enough

[00:44:26] to disrupt Purdy enough you at least make them think about blitzing. They probably still do, but maybe not as much. You know, like you gotta find these openings and angles. And like I said on our preview show, I just, I thought that said that Kansas City was going to push up the middle just because he's a small, he's on a smaller side.

[00:45:41] You know, Chris Jones is six, six, 330.

[00:45:46] You got Brock Purdy at six, one. I think he's out in the Super Bowl and then he's out here looking like a track star like two plays later. I saw that like he pulled up it probably probably like pence a little bit he was like you gotta feel bad for Greenlaw. Like you gotta feel bad for him man. I don't even know what play had happened on that. No it didn't happen on a play it didn't that he was running onto the field from the sideline and just fell.

[00:47:02] That's I know because I was like because I was that I think that as long as they have him next season, I think they're definitely a threat to repeat as long as they have Patrick Mahomes, they're a threat to

[00:48:20] repeat as long as they have Travis Kelsey with Patrick Mahomes, they're a threat to million dollar or multi-million dollar contract. So I don't know if I'm looking at a contract for 12 million versus 16 million. Like does that extra 4 million, like does it sway you? Cuz I don't know what that feels like. I don't know what was like looking down. So you know what, I'm gonna get 12 million, I'm gonna play here.

[00:49:40] I'm gonna get this many catches or I can get 16 million and play here.

[00:49:44] I knew Tennessee was gonna be the. Yeah, they got Yeah, they got vision. They can go get a younger running back in the

[00:51:02] set seven six seventh round

[00:51:06] So I think Kansas City I think they're running back defensive side because outside of Tom Brady, that's the one team or the one quarterback or whatever that went into Arrowhead and won a playoff game. I'm gonna say that I don't think either one of those teams going forward.

[00:52:22] I like Joe Burrow, I don't know if he could stay healthy.

[00:52:24] Right, that's the problem.

[00:52:27] So who's the to dethrone them? Yeah, because I mean, because you said you said Baltimore, Cincinnati, you know, there's probably some issue there. Buffalo probably isn't it, obviously. You know, Miami's probably not it, obviously. You know, I doubt that even though I think they'll be better, obviously Aaron Rodgers isn't going to come save the day.

[00:53:41] You know, and we already we already see what the debts are about.

[00:53:44] They traded a dude.

[00:53:46] They got a dude. You get a quarterback or you know, I think Sean Payton still I think he's still overrated I think he's Mike McCarthy will build Belichick's attitude and it's like Bro, you're you're not that good. You're not that guy about and I think that's his problem. Could somebody from the south? rise

[00:55:01] You know could

[00:55:03] CJ Brown with another year quarterback

[00:55:06] and he has quarterback

[00:56:02] They're going to be around for a little bit. And then when I look at the NFC, you know, for San Francisco,

[00:56:05] you know, obviously Philadelphia theoretically,

[00:56:10] you know, should be, I don't want to say fixed,

[00:56:13] but they should be better.

[00:56:15] Phillies, for some reason, just they're going to have to trim

[00:56:20] some of their pieces.

[00:56:21] I think good players are going to be available off of Phillies.

[00:56:26] Well, yes, somebody think their offense is simple. Dan Campbell, he's gonna have to figure out, is he Brandon Staley? I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing. Or am I gonna make in-game adjustments like Andy Reid does at halftime? Like, what are you gonna do? Because he literally, like I said, I still believe, I don't care what all the play,

[00:57:40] he cost his team the opportunity to play in Super Bowl.

[00:57:44] It should have been Detroit, Kansas City.

[00:57:46] We got a whole half of football. Yeah, but if that's that's all you really I mean they did well they exceeded expectations Nobody runs the ball enough you 2000 yard rusher you're not getting that out of big vase He might have 2,000 total yards for scrimmage. Maybe and then I'm not even considering anybody from the south though. I

[00:59:05] wouldn't either

[01:00:05] Jordan love getting back to the Super Bowl for Aaron Rodgers does. That would be nuts.

[01:00:06] And I hope it happens too, you know what I'm saying?

[01:00:08] Yeah.

[01:00:09] But, yo, we are.

[01:00:12] Sports reports is ordered.

[01:00:14] And we got you covered as far as, you know, everything, NFL, free agency is coming through in less than 30 days.

[01:00:21] So we're going to see what these teams look like so we can be more accurate with this stuff. I was here. Shout out to the Indiana State Sycamores ranked in the top 25 for the first time since Larry Bird. French lick. French lick baby stand up. I mean to be fair though, French lick is no millville.

[01:01:42] Championship city.

[01:01:44] You know what I'm saying?

[01:01:45] But yo, he is.
