The latest happenings in the NCAA Tournaments.
[00:00:00] Good evening, America.
[00:00:11] Yes, you are now the thing to the sounds of sports reports as ordered.
[00:00:24] And even though March is old, April has split into many games that I got checked
[00:00:32] the it shifts with you.
[00:00:34] We're going to talk about March Madness.
[00:00:39] The fight for is here, even going to women's USTU on planned Hasbro.
[00:00:45] And of course, the time will be to even kill the Jenga board for the new Jogruis folded
[00:01:00] down for the term Pike and Cheese takes everywhere dedicated father, dedicated veteran he is Mr.
[00:01:13] Lodge.
[00:01:14] And I am in Orthodox gold level, but you think it's so far.
[00:01:23] At the very least, you know, put my hands up on like Romero didn't the other night.
[00:01:28] You don't stand for hey, I am your unorthodox statistician.
[00:01:35] I am too far to us a paper like you revealed from scratch.
[00:01:39] Great cost, it's free.
[00:01:42] Awesome.
[00:01:43] God.
[00:01:44] God bless some brothers.
[00:01:46] Prishn H. Gallout there taking us over 20,000 views this past week.
[00:01:53] Yeah.
[00:01:54] Sports Reports As Ordered, I have an effect.
[00:01:57] And here we go.
[00:01:59] We usually started off when get it off Marchesh, but tonight we just going to get into it
[00:02:04] because the final four is here.
[00:02:10] You know, and it doesn't include Duke.
[00:02:13] It doesn't include North Carolina.
[00:02:16] It doesn't include Kansas.
[00:02:19] So I say that to say this is a final four for me.
[00:02:26] You forgot to mention a team.
[00:02:27] I didn't forget to mention nobody.
[00:02:29] I was talking about it.
[00:02:36] You're right, you're right, you're right.
[00:02:40] I forgot about Indiana.
[00:02:42] And I forgot about Louisville.
[00:02:43] You right.
[00:02:44] And Kentucky.
[00:02:45] Yeah.
[00:02:46] Yeah.
[00:02:47] Yeah.
[00:02:48] Yeah.
[00:02:49] Yeah.
[00:02:50] Yeah.
[00:02:51] Yeah.
[00:02:52] Yeah.
[00:02:53] Yeah.
[00:02:54] But yeah.
[00:02:55] So here we are in the final four.
[00:02:56] Mr. logical.
[00:02:57] What are your initial thoughts?
[00:02:59] I love the bracket because one of the signs where you just kind of openly admit how wrong
[00:03:05] you were and people just kind of line with you.
[00:03:08] That was all good.
[00:03:09] Like I was wrong too, it's like when people talk about playing golf, like men just are
[00:03:13] like, yeah, I suck a golf.
[00:03:15] But I like playing.
[00:03:16] It's like what assigns you to just be honest is like golf bowling and NCAA tournament
[00:03:20] like the three things that never openly say they got wrong.
[00:03:23] Yeah, I was dead wrong in NC State.
[00:03:29] But what I noticed is that Duke probably should have seen some double teams.
[00:03:36] I mean, after your big man gets six dribbles, a foot from the paint.
[00:03:41] Maybe you run another guy at him just running out there as an option.
[00:03:45] Zach Randolph body with the Elijah War footwork.
[00:03:48] Man, he was slamming that dude like he was backing down like he was Steve Kerr's eyes.
[00:03:53] Compalski whatever his name was.
[00:03:55] Yeah, they're playing like.
[00:03:56] Yeah, yeah, out there playing like Kelly Kapalski.
[00:03:59] Hey, that's a top 15 NBA draft pick.
[00:04:03] He was going to do just 22 22 to 25 right now because he looked, he looked overwhelmed
[00:04:12] from the first bomb.
[00:04:15] Like from the opening post move by big DJ.
[00:04:20] Grant DJ is a grown man like he went to college with a child of rent.
[00:04:25] He was like he was like John Moran's class of John Moran and Zyra.
[00:04:30] So but yeah, I think just it's the same advantage that Purdue has because we think about basketball
[00:04:39] now is from the three point line and what Purdue and NC State doing it with two dominant
[00:04:46] big men.
[00:04:47] I don't know what you could do stop.
[00:04:49] Nothing.
[00:04:50] You just throw it up there like he is a foot taller.
[00:04:55] It seems and like a foot wider than everybody else around him.
[00:05:01] And those are six seven six eight guys around his like you know what I call right?
[00:05:07] You know what I call Zach Edy, right?
[00:05:09] What's that second round yell?
[00:05:13] Second.
[00:05:15] I think he can fit in an NBA.
[00:05:22] I think he's too slow.
[00:05:24] My name is too slow.
[00:05:26] It reminds me a lot of even though they're not the same size, somebody hit me up today.
[00:05:32] One of our loyal fans hit me up today and asked me why did nobody pick up Oscar Sheboy.
[00:05:40] You know, he's a rebounded machine came out of Kentucky.
[00:05:43] And I'm like because he's six foot eight, he has no range.
[00:05:47] He's not athletic.
[00:05:49] So even though he grabs a lot of rebounds, he's just too much of a mismatch on defense
[00:05:56] in the NBA today because of his lack of athleticism.
[00:06:01] You know, because we've done with the eighties around here.
[00:06:03] Yeah, I hear that.
[00:06:05] But then I also see a lot of teams going 16 and 66 this year.
[00:06:10] So I'm not sure if it's multiple teams are here with 20 something wins or less.
[00:06:17] So I don't know what their scouting department is doing, but whatever they're doing, they
[00:06:21] might want to switch it up and go get the seven foot four big man.
[00:06:24] I'm not the fact for you because you know, we got what?
[00:06:28] We got five teams under 20 wins under 20 wins.
[00:06:32] I'm thinking in the 20s, how many in the 20s?
[00:06:35] We got in the 20s.
[00:06:37] We have one, two, three, four and two of them have 29.
[00:06:46] Okay.
[00:06:47] So we got four.
[00:06:48] So we got 10 teams under 30 wins and we played about 74 games.
[00:06:55] Yeah.
[00:06:56] And those 10 teams, four or five of them have probably been in that range for multiple
[00:07:02] years to multiple coaches.
[00:07:04] So whatever philosophy that gold is things in point that's working and whatever's working
[00:07:08] in Boston is not working in Charlotte.
[00:07:11] It's not working to destroy not working.
[00:07:15] Not working at what and so maybe you guys try to change it more because what do you heard?
[00:07:20] I mean, it's not like you sacrificing wins from the previous seasons because you got
[00:07:25] none.
[00:07:26] Right.
[00:07:27] You said none 16 to 20 wins is like why not go out there and at least create a mismatch
[00:07:32] somewhere on the floor.
[00:07:33] Like, hey, this guy might not be fast but like, it's not because a bunch of teams running
[00:07:38] out centers and giving them ball down low.
[00:07:41] Yeah.
[00:07:42] Yeah.
[00:07:43] So to piggyback off of something you said earlier, I got this stat here for match nighter
[00:07:50] and during the elite eight, you know, eight teams, five starters, so 40 starters.
[00:07:58] There were 24 seniors, four juniors, 10 sophomores and two freshmen.
[00:08:04] 18 of those were transfers.
[00:08:06] 16 of them were fifth year players.
[00:08:08] So you know, you graduate transfers slash COVID dudes and then 12 out of the top 13 scorers
[00:08:18] were seniors.
[00:08:20] You know, so there you have it.
[00:08:22] So I was thinking about this earlier, you know, you con sitting up here 35 and three.
[00:08:30] And I was thinking to myself, they've only lost three times.
[00:08:34] There has to be a common theme within their losses if they only had like they had 10
[00:08:41] losses.
[00:08:42] Maybe there's not a common theme.
[00:08:43] You know, they got three losses.
[00:08:45] There has to be a common theme and by George, I found it.
[00:08:49] What is it?
[00:08:50] I see one of them miss a game.
[00:08:55] That's the thing, you know, Donovan Klingin, he missed, you know, a game he got her to get
[00:09:01] seat in the hole, you know, Steph Castle missed the Kansas game, you know, and Klingin got
[00:09:07] in foul trouble against Kring.
[00:09:10] So, you know, like you just need him to miss significant time.
[00:09:13] So maybe, so I will say, I will say, Alabama has the firepower to scare you, Con.
[00:09:25] They just have to be clicking obviously, but they have the firepower.
[00:09:28] So like Illinois, for example, we saw them play you con this weekend.
[00:09:32] Illinois average 86 points on the season 85.7 to be exact.
[00:09:38] And you can't help them to 52 points.
[00:09:41] I saw something that said that they went 50 actual like real time minutes, not getting
[00:09:48] in game minutes, but like 50 minutes.
[00:09:51] The world rotated for 50 minutes and they didn't get a point.
[00:09:56] And it was like, well, it was a five and a game that halftime and then you can't win on
[00:10:02] a 30 oh run.
[00:10:05] But like you can't get a free throw.
[00:10:08] Like you're asking ball because you trying to catch up by shooting threes.
[00:10:13] But when you when you, when the run was 80 or 10 zero and it's like, we got to get a shot
[00:10:21] to go in and stop the bleeding.
[00:10:24] Just go go to the cup either you don't get a foul, you don't get a good layup, or maybe
[00:10:31] the rotate the help side defender comes over and your rebounder gets an easy put back.
[00:10:37] It's like more things.
[00:10:38] Once again, I said what the whole NBA guys are saying, oh, I don't think this guy fits
[00:10:43] the game is like, I don't know if the coaches fit the game.
[00:10:47] You're telling me you couldn't get a single point.
[00:10:51] You're five young athletic prime of your life and you can't get to the bucket for 30, 50
[00:11:01] minutes.
[00:11:02] No, not to be the worst.
[00:11:03] That is an SVU episode.
[00:11:05] I continue the walk through the room, said some strange walked out, came back in case
[00:11:12] off and you still ain't got a point.
[00:11:14] Come on.
[00:11:15] I don't care what good of defense you're doing.
[00:11:18] There's no defense that can stop a high picking role when a guy coming downhill attacking
[00:11:23] the basket.
[00:11:24] There's going to be a foul.
[00:11:25] You did it four possessions in the row.
[00:11:27] You getting two foul calls for sure.
[00:11:29] The earth spins at 1,024 miles per hour.
[00:11:35] Over the course of that 50 minutes, the earth spun 51,200 miles per hour total when you
[00:11:42] added all together.
[00:11:45] Alabama has to fire power because unlike a lot of the teams that Yukon has played in the
[00:11:51] tournament, we saw that against Clemson in the second half.
[00:11:57] When they were down 13, Mark Sears came through.
[00:12:01] They have letharrel right so come in back who's another 40 plus 3 point shooter.
[00:12:07] He hasn't played since their second game with a tournament against Grand Canyon with
[00:12:11] his head injury so he'll be back.
[00:12:15] They have their first in the Gordon Haywood.
[00:12:18] Yeah, Grant Nelson.
[00:12:20] So they can scare Yukon.
[00:12:25] If it's Yukon Purdue for the national title, Zach E. can neutralize and nullify the advantage
[00:12:32] that Klingon gives Yukon at 7-2.
[00:12:37] So you at least have a body that matches up with Klingon's body.
[00:12:43] If they play NC State in the national title game, can NC State score enough to keep up
[00:12:50] with them but they may not have to because of their defense?
[00:12:55] So if they can get if DJ can get Klingon into foul trouble, then you start on that layer
[00:13:05] that I was talking about pushing Yukon into a match.
[00:13:09] So in that scenario, that would be NC State beat for do and play against Yukon.
[00:13:14] Right.
[00:13:15] Okay.
[00:13:16] Yeah, I just think that what DJ was doing against Kelly Kepowski and Duke, he won't
[00:13:24] be able to do with E.D.
[00:13:26] He might be able to maybe, you can talk about like E.D.'s not athletic enough, he's not
[00:13:30] fast enough.
[00:13:32] Maybe he can get him a cup of jab sets but I don't think he's going to be able to pound
[00:13:36] the ball six, seven, eight dribbles and turn it over his shoulder because he can beat
[00:13:42] there because even if he, even if his footwork is off, if he can get to this position, if
[00:13:48] he can just lean and get his arm up, that's going to that's going to at least block the rim
[00:13:54] for for Bernie trying to shoot that little fallaway jumper where Duke like I said, they just
[00:13:58] it instantly send the second defender that often.
[00:14:01] Like when every time I was watching, he was getting he was just dribbling like Yokech,
[00:14:05] like just dribbling the ball, dribbling the ball.
[00:14:06] Well, I don't think we're about to shoot him.
[00:14:09] Duke was on borrowed time because you know, they weren't shooting the ball well even when
[00:14:14] they had the lead before it in the state went on their run.
[00:14:17] Duke wasn't shooting the ball well and then you had the game against Houston where Duke
[00:14:23] wasn't shooting the ball well and Houston's best player got hurt.
[00:14:27] You know, like Houston's looking at the free throw numbers, thinking to themselves, we got
[00:14:32] to practice because that game was there even without their best player.
[00:14:37] That game was there for the take and they just didn't hit their free throws.
[00:14:40] And Clemson was awful from the free throw line in the second half.
[00:14:43] They were.
[00:14:44] And it makes me wonder, like why is this such a theme?
[00:14:49] Like as you know, I was talking about Kentucky and Coach Cowell and usually if you look back
[00:14:54] at the tournament games that his teams lose, you can find the free throw disadvantage within
[00:15:00] the numbers.
[00:15:01] But while I'm on Kentucky real quick, let me get one more thing off real quick.
[00:15:05] All right.
[00:15:06] So so Kentucky fans, including myself.
[00:15:11] We always talk about how Duke gets the easy region a lot.
[00:15:16] You know, well this year Kentucky was in the same region with Duke.
[00:15:22] Now since 2018, this is who has come out of Kentucky's region.
[00:15:30] Number 11 seed Loyola Chicago.
[00:15:35] I was the sister Jane here.
[00:15:38] Five seed Auburn, eight seed North Carolina, eight seed Florida Atlantic and this year's
[00:15:45] NC State team.
[00:15:47] You know two of those teams Auburn and North Carolina beat Kentucky directly.
[00:15:54] So it just goes to show you like the madness is real.
[00:16:00] You know, you can't predict the NC State is now the fourth 11 seed that's made the final
[00:16:07] four with George Mason, DCU and the third one.
[00:16:12] Oh yeah, Loyola Chicago.
[00:16:14] Yeah.
[00:16:15] Those are the three that made the final four previously.
[00:16:18] So you know they're in rare air.
[00:16:21] But the difference is that they are a high major team.
[00:16:26] And when you look at because you know a lot of people don't believe in destiny, you
[00:16:31] know a lot of people don't believe in Cinderella, right?
[00:16:34] But NC State came into the ACC tournament.
[00:16:38] 17 and 14.
[00:16:40] They had lost their last four regular season games.
[00:16:43] They struggled with Louisville who fired their coach after that game.
[00:16:48] The next game they were down three to Virginia with a 85% shooter on the free throw line
[00:16:55] from Virginia who misses the free throw.
[00:16:58] They grabbed the rebound and hit a double clutch bank shot to force overtime.
[00:17:03] They win.
[00:17:04] They beat Duke Carolina back to back, you know in the ACC tournament win five games in
[00:17:10] five days.
[00:17:12] And now here they are in the final four.
[00:17:14] So if that's not destiny, not saying that they're going to win a national title or anything
[00:17:18] but if that's not destiny or if that's not something going on, I don't know what it is.
[00:17:23] I think we talked about Illinois not being able to get a point for a 30-30-0 run 50 minutes
[00:17:37] but when a team is hot like Alabama, it was three possessions.
[00:17:43] It was three possessions each.
[00:17:44] Three for Clemson, three for Alabama.
[00:17:48] Clemson hit two, three and Alabama hit three.
[00:17:54] It was a Clemson hit a three, the kid number 11 for his name.
[00:17:59] Hit a three and he ran that same action again.
[00:18:01] He got another three but Sears got a three and then Clemson came back, missed a three.
[00:18:09] Alabama got back to back threes and the score they still were down nine.
[00:18:14] So you come down two out of three possessions, get threes and then you go in a time out
[00:18:18] you down nine because the other team knocked down three on a row.
[00:18:22] But it just feels like when the team is flowing and the shots are going in for that guy,
[00:18:29] when I get the ball, I'm letting it go because we're on a roll.
[00:18:33] He's hot so if I miss, we get the rebound, you get it back to him.
[00:18:37] But when your team, like you and Seeduke in that tournament against NC State is like, well
[00:18:44] we already know we're in.
[00:18:47] NC State is like scrambling to fight for the last two get in.
[00:18:51] So you just ride that momentum and I think that that's, it's a very value piece.
[00:18:56] Like if you think about a team that scores like 140 points in NBA game, like those guys
[00:19:00] those shoot like that all the time but these guys going on runs and he's heat checks and
[00:19:05] the guys keep hitting, he'd up six for nine for three.
[00:19:08] Another guy unexpectedly dropped 30.
[00:19:10] I think Booker went for 59 Phoenix.
[00:19:13] Booker doesn't normally, like he had the setting point game and Boston back in the day.
[00:19:17] But he didn't normally go for like 50.
[00:19:19] He's not a volume score.
[00:19:20] He's a big pull up guy but he probably was filled in it.
[00:19:23] His first few shots went in.
[00:19:25] It's the same thing that happened with Seeduke.
[00:19:27] Seeduke just knows and he started off for seven.
[00:19:30] Then slow down.
[00:19:31] He knows.
[00:19:32] I'm gonna get this off.
[00:19:35] This guy can't guard me.
[00:19:36] They're going under the screen so I'm just, he was just getting, I mean he was shooting from
[00:19:40] like K-Lin Clark range shot at the K-Lin Clark.
[00:19:43] This is K-Lin Clark range, that's not step range.
[00:19:46] Clark to shark range.
[00:19:47] Shout out to one of his basketball super easy to legend but you know when he was pulling
[00:19:53] up I was like, I was literally on the couch screaming at the TV like it was game seven
[00:19:59] because I like I said I didn't have a dog in the fight.
[00:20:01] I just want to see good basketball and for like an eight minute stretch and that second
[00:20:05] half it just was fabulous basketball.
[00:20:08] It's like they just kind of figured out how to space the floor because it was kind of
[00:20:11] clunky and congested.
[00:20:12] Climbing was missing those free throws that I was bad for them but once they started
[00:20:16] like getting to that flow anyway going back to back and battling with the threes, shout
[00:20:21] out to PJ Hall and Plimbson.
[00:20:22] He was the one who's thing.
[00:20:23] Got a couple of bad foul calls on him.
[00:20:26] But I thought it was a couple where like he got hooked.
[00:20:29] They called a foul on him.
[00:20:31] But those guys were out there balling.
[00:20:34] But Prinkle Prinkle Prinkle Nassai was just he was just every time he was inside he
[00:20:39] was getting an end one.
[00:20:40] He was finishing every play Houston ought to be ashamed of themselves.
[00:20:45] This is the second year in a row.
[00:20:47] Last year the final four was in Houston.
[00:20:51] They lose the elite eight this year.
[00:20:54] The regionals were in Dallas and they don't even make the regional final.
[00:20:58] You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
[00:21:02] And then when I look at it, you know, I see the same teams doing the same thing.
[00:21:10] So you con had a couple of years in a row where they would lose in the first round, losing
[00:21:17] the second round and then they broke through and obviously won the title last year.
[00:21:22] Now I got my eyes on Arizona.
[00:21:25] You know, and I told you at the start of this tournament.
[00:21:29] Once Arizona goes down because they will go down every year.
[00:21:35] Everybody or you know, a lot of people pick Arizona based on talent based on being in
[00:21:42] the West.
[00:21:43] It's just a good basketball school.
[00:21:45] Basketball school.
[00:21:46] I think their high school basketball program is really good.
[00:21:49] One of my first memories of Arizona basketball is a kid named Steve Nash.
[00:21:56] You know, coming through with the Santa Clara Bronx and knocking off Arizona in the first
[00:22:02] round of the NCAA tournament.
[00:22:06] And you know, here we are over 20 years later or close to 20 years later.
[00:22:11] And these guys are still choking because you got Caleb love who I told you was going
[00:22:18] to choke, going five for 18 and 0 for nine from three.
[00:22:22] It's okay to have a bad game.
[00:22:25] Come on Caleb.
[00:22:28] You got to get a good shot like you guys are like I said, you've been playing for a while.
[00:22:33] I don't know.
[00:22:34] It just if you're going to get that many shot opportunities, it just seems like.
[00:22:39] Oh for nine.
[00:22:41] Yes, that's a bad look right now you cause up 10 on USC.
[00:22:46] Number one number one USC.
[00:22:49] Did you walk is at the line?
[00:22:51] Yeah.
[00:22:52] Bradley is turning into the shot maker for Arizona.
[00:22:55] He's the one he only average seven points this season, but in the tournament when they
[00:22:59] needed a big play, he was the one that came through for them.
[00:23:03] But speaking of the women's tournament, you know, obviously shot out to the Iowa Hawkeyes,
[00:23:09] you know, joining South Carolina and NC State in the final four, you know, both schools.
[00:23:16] Yeah, both.
[00:23:17] Yeah, both.
[00:23:18] What was it?
[00:23:19] What was it?
[00:23:20] Minnesota State Division two men's and women.
[00:23:22] One national title.
[00:23:23] Yeah.
[00:23:24] So the Chicago and pull it off this year is in the state.
[00:23:28] Yes.
[00:23:29] So the winner of this game is going to play Iowa who just took care of LSU right before we
[00:23:34] came on here.
[00:23:36] And you know, but look at back at it.
[00:23:38] I know last year, the talk of the tournament was how much better the women's tournament was
[00:23:46] the demands tournament.
[00:23:48] And this year, I'm going to just say not so much, you know, so it depends on what you value.
[00:23:56] And I don't know what better is.
[00:23:58] I think I don't want for one.
[00:24:01] I don't know why we need to compare it.
[00:24:03] You know what I mean?
[00:24:04] But that's just what we do.
[00:24:05] You know, but for two, it's just, I think people here things on TV or they hear something
[00:24:13] that sounds good, something they might want to be true.
[00:24:16] And then they just keep saying it over and over because it depends on what you're looking
[00:24:21] for because the reason that the men's March madness works is because of Cinderella.
[00:24:27] It's because of Oakland being able to match up with Kentucky and Jack Goldke comes out
[00:24:34] of nowhere becomes America sweetheart.
[00:24:38] You know, Kai Simpson out of Colorado who I talked about before the tournament started.
[00:24:43] But with the women, it's literally as predictable as it can get, you know, you had one name on
[00:24:51] the front of the jersey.
[00:24:53] You had one seven seed, you know, pull beat a two seed, you know, whereas in the men's
[00:25:01] tournament right now, you got an 11 seed granted there into ACC but you got an 11 seed in
[00:25:06] the final four, you know, it's just this is one of the first years that has been chalky
[00:25:14] in the men's tournament.
[00:25:17] And I got to say, I don't want to say I'm not enjoying it but I think what I'm not enjoying
[00:25:27] is the exposure of these coaches because like you were talking about last weekend.
[00:25:32] Well, these coaches all know what they're doing.
[00:25:35] Yeah, you were talking about they just good at interviews.
[00:25:39] You can see when it gets when they get to rough, the Calapari had no idea what he's doing
[00:25:45] with his coach.
[00:25:46] What you talked about specifically you were talking about the Creighton Oregon game,
[00:25:53] you know, like what are these guys doing?
[00:25:55] And that's what I saw yesterday watching Tennessee against Purdue is that you got the seven
[00:26:01] foot four guy with 40 points and 16 rebounds catching more.
[00:26:06] 21 shots.
[00:26:07] Yeah, catching the ball in the post, setting everybody up and y'all are still out here taking
[00:26:14] wild shots for no reason.
[00:26:17] You know, like no reason at all.
[00:26:19] And Tennessee, you know, shot out to El Residente, Josiah Jordan James with three for three in
[00:26:25] the first half, one shot in the second half because Dalton connect beside it that he was
[00:26:31] going to shoot 31 shots to get 30 points at 37.
[00:26:37] 37 but you know, but it was very it was vastly different than what he was doing on the 21
[00:26:43] shots.
[00:26:44] Yeah.
[00:26:45] And of course, you know, you had Purdue with a 33 to 11 free throw advantage.
[00:26:52] You know, so that's so you talk about where was the game one in loss?
[00:26:59] That's where the game was one in loss was that Purdue was taking advantage and getting
[00:27:04] to the free throw line and Tennessee was settled.
[00:27:07] Yeah, I mean like I said, but that once again, that's that's coaching because after after
[00:27:14] Kentucky laws to open Jay Wright and the studio for the villain of a coach champion, you
[00:27:21] know, what a national championship of the team.
[00:27:25] He talked about the advantage of having seniors versus younger players and how having younger
[00:27:33] players, you know, this advantage.
[00:27:35] And I'm like, yo, that's coaching.
[00:27:37] They've been freshmen all year.
[00:27:39] They've been freshmen since the season started.
[00:27:41] They didn't just get picked up in January and had to play this major tournament.
[00:27:46] There were more than years.
[00:27:48] And they're more talented.
[00:27:49] They're bigger.
[00:27:50] They're NBA potential draft picks, you know, three, four of them in the top 20.
[00:27:56] So if you can't coach kids at the college level that are all projected to be NBA starters,
[00:28:03] then it's you messed up coaching wise.
[00:28:06] That's nothing to do with the age of the player.
[00:28:08] If you just simply drew a place they got these guys open looks or looks coming down there.
[00:28:15] Get them the easy basket.
[00:28:17] Basket calls an easy sport.
[00:28:19] It's difficult to play physically, but as far as the concept of it, you just want to create
[00:28:25] a situation where the ball moves.
[00:28:27] The defense moves and you get the ball to an open position where you can get a good look
[00:28:32] at the basket.
[00:28:33] Well, I was going to ask a question.
[00:28:36] I was going to ask you a question.
[00:28:38] Do you think that it will kind of revert back once the COVID seniors are gone?
[00:28:48] Now because if they like we talked about this with the NBA draft, if these guys were that
[00:28:52] good to a point where like they were heading shoulders above these other college competitors,
[00:29:00] they would have already gone and dragged or took their taken their degrees and gone on
[00:29:04] to professional leagues.
[00:29:06] It is an advantage it isn't advantage to have guys who are older.
[00:29:09] Yes, but Kentucky guys are older.
[00:29:12] They lost everybody had transfers.
[00:29:15] Everyone had five years, everyone had COVID seniors.
[00:29:18] Almost every team had all these elements.
[00:29:20] The difference was do you have a playmaker that can make plays and crunch time?
[00:29:27] Do you have a strategy that all your players buy into and understand and can execute?
[00:29:33] That's what it was out to.
[00:29:34] The age of the players is irrelevant.
[00:29:35] The energy levels are there.
[00:29:37] 19 year old and 22 year old.
[00:29:39] It's not like yeah, the next 20 year might be a little stronger, but if I'm a 19 year old
[00:29:42] freshman and I'm one of these top 300 players or whatever in the country and I go to
[00:29:48] one of these schools, you're probably going to perform at a high level.
[00:29:51] You're going to be athletically gifted.
[00:29:52] Yeah, he might have a size manager like Burns, but what Burns, it wasn't the fact that
[00:29:57] he had the size advantage on Duke is the fact that then get the ball out of his hand.
[00:30:02] They didn't make him pass the ball.
[00:30:04] It's like I don't care how good you are.
[00:30:06] You're useless.
[00:30:07] If you're at the, if you're pounding the rock at the rim and I don't force you to pass
[00:30:12] the ball and you get to figure out, I got a guy on me who I probably have by 70 pounds
[00:30:18] me.
[00:30:19] They say he's walking like he plays almost two 90.
[00:30:22] What was his numbers?
[00:30:23] It was something like that.
[00:30:25] So I got a guy behind that 225 and I'm 285 and I bump him and every time I bump him
[00:30:32] he's moving back a foot.
[00:30:33] I'm dribbling the ball and no one comes and takes the ball from him getting closer
[00:30:37] and closer to the rim.
[00:30:38] That's coaching, that's nothing to do with how old the guy is.
[00:30:41] He's irrelevant if you don't have the ball on his hand.
[00:30:45] But if you let him keep the ball that close to the rim, he's going to kill you and that's
[00:30:48] what he did.
[00:30:49] Right.
[00:30:50] And when you look at North Carolina for example, they have Marjay Davis and Amando Bekot
[00:30:59] who are 10 years as well and they're not here.
[00:31:05] So it's obviously not that simple.
[00:31:08] And they're all, they're like all-time leaders and scoring their rebound and in games one
[00:31:13] at UNC.
[00:31:14] What the lineage that UNC has, these guys are at the top of those list.
[00:31:19] Right.
[00:31:20] CIS rebounds points, games one, games played and you miss a dunk at the rim.
[00:31:27] The other team is to ball in a rebound and issue the three or once again, Grand Nelson.
[00:31:32] Once he got hot, they just kept feeding him.
[00:31:35] Yeah.
[00:31:36] And I think that everybody's trying to find, you'll appreciate this.
[00:31:43] I think everybody's trying to find logic where there is none.
[00:31:47] You know, like it just happens.
[00:31:49] You know, whatever happens on a given night just happens on a given night.
[00:31:53] You can try to find trends but even within those trends, you know, there's like, okay.
[00:31:59] So you got Yukon.
[00:32:02] You know, they have Tristan Newton who outside of Zachini may be the best player in America
[00:32:11] but it still doesn't work without the young Donna Ben Klingon, you know, who sat behind
[00:32:17] a sonogo last year, got some experience and here we are now like Yukon's defense might
[00:32:25] be even better this year without Sonogo because Sonogo was in that Oscar Shebaid build.
[00:32:31] You know, whereas like you replaced him with a seven foot two guy.
[00:32:35] Yeah.
[00:32:36] You know, that's altering shots and changing what the defense, I mean, what the offense
[00:32:40] is doing.
[00:32:41] Yeah.
[00:32:42] Most of the defense is effort.
[00:32:43] Like yeah, if you have a huge anchor to Miller, the shot blocker, most of them is
[00:32:47] effort.
[00:32:48] Like if you have guys who can play to whatever your defense of strategy is but there's only
[00:32:53] nothing you could do with that when you talk about Kaylyn Clark tonight against Haley Van
[00:32:57] Lift.
[00:32:58] Haley was trying her hard out.
[00:32:59] Right.
[00:33:00] She was jumping onto the screen.
[00:33:01] She was going over top of the screen.
[00:33:04] She was just, Kaylyn was like, listen, I saw a test day fly from 27 feet.
[00:33:09] Yeah.
[00:33:10] Kaylyn was just, what do you do?
[00:33:12] That's all you just throw your hands up.
[00:33:13] You know what I mean?
[00:33:14] It's like garden stuff.
[00:33:16] You might look up one of these days and stuff might be two for 12 from three.
[00:33:20] You didn't play good defense.
[00:33:22] You just missed 10, 3 just missed shots.
[00:33:24] You know, and that's what happened with Alabama the other night because against UNC it was
[00:33:38] Grant Nelson.
[00:33:40] You know, but against Clemson, it was Mark Sears.
[00:33:44] So it just depends on who's knight it is.
[00:33:47] You know, but Yukon has shown us that if you punch them into mouth, they're going to
[00:33:58] start throwing forms because San Diego State came out early, rematch in a national title
[00:34:06] game, played them pretty well until the D got in foul trouble.
[00:34:11] And then at some point before you could blink, what was a four point game was 17.
[00:34:17] They just overwhelmed you because it happens in such a barrage and I'm sure that it helped
[00:34:23] plan in Boston too that it hurt.
[00:34:25] But that can be overwhelming.
[00:34:29] Just playing at home, playing close, playing the weird people.
[00:34:33] I'll see you back.
[00:34:36] Yeah.
[00:34:37] Looking back, a few of Yukon's final fours and like, you know, tournament success elite
[00:34:42] eights have been in Arizona.
[00:34:46] Have been in Phoenix.
[00:34:47] And this final four is in Phoenix.
[00:34:50] So we'll see what happens.
[00:34:53] Are they playing at a basketball stadium or they plan at a football, like a basketball arena
[00:34:58] or football?
[00:34:59] They're playing at the Suns Arena.
[00:35:02] Okay, because I remember where they playing that the...
[00:35:06] Well, usually they play at the domes.
[00:35:09] You know that way they can get more people in there.
[00:35:12] Yeah, and I remember they had one in Houston and...
[00:35:19] Yeah, they got a Texas stadium last year.
[00:35:22] Yeah, some of the players are talking about it's hard to get like that perception on
[00:35:28] the rent lines because it's just you got a whole stadium behind.
[00:35:34] That's why it was always hard back in the day when people had to go to Syracuse.
[00:35:42] And they used to play in the career goal.
[00:35:45] And they had that same problem.
[00:35:47] Yeah, so it is at the card of stadium.
[00:35:51] Is that the G?
[00:35:53] That's not what it used to be called.
[00:35:55] They still stay far.
[00:35:56] Yeah.
[00:35:57] Okay.
[00:35:58] Yeah, so that's where the final four is.
[00:36:02] Yeah, so is there going to be some of that?
[00:36:08] Because Jordan Hawkins ain't walking through that door this year.
[00:36:11] But they do have Alex Caraban who was one of the tournament heroes last year.
[00:36:17] But you wonder because of everything that I said earlier, how does that affect Alabama?
[00:36:23] You know, because...
[00:36:24] You think you can blow on people out of these last few games.
[00:36:28] It's going to put them in like this lulled where they come out too slow against Alabama
[00:36:34] and they're down 17-4.
[00:36:36] I don't think so.
[00:36:37] I don't want to do the hyperbolic thing, you know, I don't want to do the hyperbolic
[00:36:41] thing.
[00:36:42] But Hurley kind of reminds me of Nick Sabin in that way of we're about 20 but I'm still
[00:36:49] not satisfied.
[00:36:50] Yes, somebody else, I heard a pun to say the same thing is like, he's like, I bet you
[00:36:55] Hurley was yelling at those guys in an entire room and he had a 30-year-old run.
[00:37:01] He found something, a band pass or a ill time shot or someone got an open shot and like
[00:37:07] you go find something.
[00:37:08] And he's always...
[00:37:09] Even when they're up, he's constantly on the refs.
[00:37:13] Like he's constantly in the refs phase.
[00:37:16] He's outside of the box not getting a tech even though they gave the NC State Coach
[00:37:20] a tech and you know, you know last night after our conversation about sports being rigged
[00:37:27] and whatnot.
[00:37:28] When they called that tech on NC State's coach I said, here we go, the Duke Train is coming.
[00:37:35] I don't think I had the value up because we're playing music.
[00:37:40] No, he was definitely way outside of the box but I don't know we said to the refs so maybe
[00:37:47] that contributed to the tech but...
[00:37:49] I know what caused to...
[00:37:52] I don't remember what exactly happened but I remember whenever when the whistle blew
[00:37:59] I thought it was a bad call.
[00:38:00] It wasn't a bad call.
[00:38:02] It was.
[00:38:03] So when I saw the tech on him I was like, I get it but like I said, I had to sound down
[00:38:09] because we were playing music.
[00:38:10] But whenever I saw it I was like, that was a bad call and then when he got pissed off
[00:38:14] I was like, okay he got the tech but maybe it's one of those things that like you know
[00:38:18] amps your team up.
[00:38:20] It sounded like from listening to the broadcast it sounded as if the tech was more based
[00:38:26] on where he was on the court.
[00:38:29] He was outside of the box so they called the tech.
[00:38:33] That's such a ridiculous because if you think about it, if I'm focused on what's going
[00:38:40] on and I'm walking with peace or any kind of emotion, I'ma just go.
[00:38:48] Like I'm not going to be looking at this line when it's a dead ball and it's like I
[00:38:52] want to say something to this ref in that person's 40 feet away.
[00:38:56] That's the thing.
[00:38:57] But it's like I'ma yell at you from the box.
[00:39:00] You could give me a tech in the box for yelling at you so like what the fuck is the difference?
[00:39:04] Well I think that's the thing is that there's usually a ramen reason to it where usually
[00:39:14] they'll give you a warning first.
[00:39:17] Like they'll tell you get back or whatever because I know curly is always outside of that
[00:39:23] box.
[00:39:24] He walks up and down the damn court like he owned the place.
[00:39:28] Coach K used to do that.
[00:39:30] Just be wherever he wanted to be.
[00:39:32] Cal does that.
[00:39:33] The roughs just need to be better.
[00:39:36] If you were better, like I talked about this as a prime example, I got to score out of
[00:39:41] the DMV here in Jersey and I remember this comedian Tony Baker.
[00:39:48] He was talking about like, and this is before I got to score it out of the DMV.
[00:39:52] You're talking about yo, you see somebody at the counter and they always like, you see him
[00:39:56] from behind like what you want me to do?
[00:40:01] But I was like, I got escorted out of the DMV by an armed guard.
[00:40:07] I had a gun on him.
[00:40:09] Multiple armed guards.
[00:40:10] I'm like yo, don't you think it's an issue with the way you guys are running this facility?
[00:40:15] If you need someone with this many people with guns, I can go to the bank right now.
[00:40:23] Everybody needs and or wants money.
[00:40:26] I do not recall seeing three armed guards just in Wells Fargo, Jillian waiting on a customer.
[00:40:35] But yet every time I go to the DMV because the time before that another guy was about
[00:40:41] to get escorted out because he got his paperwork checked six different times and it's like yo
[00:40:47] you gotta improve your process.
[00:40:49] So when he's referees and these leads come with these stipulations, you can't say this
[00:40:52] or if you can't say that.
[00:40:53] I'm like, well are you going to say something to them when they blow calls, when they give
[00:40:57] technicals for no reason, when they give technicals to coach for one thing but not the other
[00:41:02] because that doesn't seem to happen.
[00:41:03] It just seems to happen that these reps get more and more empowered, more and more bold
[00:41:07] and then when you call them out like yo, he did not touch them.
[00:41:11] Then you got to replace and they go to replay.
[00:41:13] They don't change it.
[00:41:15] Like the whole past interference we talked about in NFL was like it was pointless because
[00:41:18] in slow motion it looks like fans of the fears because every single play is this, they
[00:41:23] just grab and they touch on.
[00:41:25] Right.
[00:41:26] So they're going to walk through the flag and he did grab his arm so yep, Tennessee stands
[00:41:28] is like well I guess that's the one thing you gotta give Dre mind like he definitely earns
[00:41:33] his text.
[00:41:34] You know but let you know but yeah we're here in the final fours here.
[00:41:40] Yukon is up five on USC in the fourth quarter with about eight twenty one left.
[00:41:47] So let me ask you this question before we get out of here.
[00:41:51] We talk about how we don't think sports is rigged but we do think that the execs or whoever
[00:42:00] at the TV stations prefer certain outcomes.
[00:42:05] So if you're a TV exec, do you want the Yukon brand or do you want the new star Juju in
[00:42:13] the final four?
[00:42:17] Four is winning basketball.
[00:42:19] Yeah like as far as final four right now like a Galic Clark.
[00:42:24] Yeah so if USC win or whoever wins this game plays against Iowa, so do you want the
[00:42:32] Juju, Caitlin match up or do you want Iowa against the brand Yukon?
[00:42:39] I'll take either because I already got Caitlin Clark.
[00:42:44] Because I have Caitlin Clark.
[00:42:46] You got soft water in the other side.
[00:42:48] I got soft, come on a go for the undefeated season.
[00:42:50] I got that storyline locked in.
[00:42:52] I got Caitlin Clark already locked into the final four.
[00:42:56] Now if you give me Yukon, I got Geno or AMOX trying to get his twelve ring.
[00:43:00] I got the Yukon icons that then you gotta think about all of the iconic Yukon women's
[00:43:08] players and the men's players because the men are in the final four as well.
[00:43:12] How many of them, how many stories you can tell?
[00:43:15] How many little pseudo documentaries you'll put on ESPN to promote it?
[00:43:21] The IANA TORRAS, your Subaru, Rebecca Loebau, Maya Moore, all these legends that all
[00:43:27] these battles, you recall the Tennessee Connecticut battles so you could do all of that.
[00:43:32] But then when USC, you have the fabulous freshmen.
[00:43:38] They literally put a tweet out comparing her to Mello.
[00:43:41] Give it a ball.
[00:43:42] She's Mello at Syracuse as a freshman.
[00:43:44] Give it a ball.
[00:43:45] Then you've got the Cheryl Miller back-to-back national champion.
[00:43:49] You have everything you need in this final four for the women.
[00:43:56] Your gumbo is made with either shrimp or chicken.
[00:43:59] Your good to go.
[00:44:00] It's still going to be good gumbo because you have everything you need for drama and you
[00:44:05] have the faces.
[00:44:06] And this game doesn't have the face.
[00:44:08] They will have the same.
[00:44:09] Well, I was going to say on the inside though, you gotta want Yukon Purdue, right?
[00:44:15] I think you and C. State making the run story built in.
[00:44:23] Purdue coming back from losing to 16-seater-year ago, that story's written.
[00:44:29] Yukon is Yukon.
[00:44:32] Bama being this quote unquote powerhouse of athleticism couple, you know, if you add the football,
[00:44:41] I believe the women's softball team is normally pretty good as well.
[00:44:44] So like these events that they have on these tournaments all the time, I think the stories
[00:44:49] are good but with the men's tournament you have the school.
[00:44:53] The school being the story, not the players whereas the women's tournament right now,
[00:45:00] you have the individual.
[00:45:01] You have names that you follow.
[00:45:04] Like with Yukon, you got pagebeckers on the floor but you had geno REM in the bench.
[00:45:09] Don Staley, soft Kelanna, not really the players and I really follow them too much because
[00:45:14] they're not really marketed as individual players is way, Caitlin Clarkson, multiple commercials,
[00:45:19] a range of research, plan is in Dick's sporting goods, pagebeckers is everywhere.
[00:45:24] You know so you see them all of us on the social media, you see them like she's in, I saw
[00:45:27] two commercials using the Caitlin Clarkson and the Comcast commercial and a State Farm
[00:45:32] commercial back at her college basketball game.
[00:45:38] But with the men's you just have the whole story of Purdue and their resurrection and
[00:45:45] you know like I said Yukon just being an icon.
[00:45:47] I'm gonna do what Virginia did, you know, lose 16 seed and win the national title.
[00:45:52] Alright so a quick story time before we get out of here.
[00:45:58] You know sad?
[00:45:59] So here you go.
[00:46:02] Who's Danny Hurley's brother?
[00:46:05] Bobby Hurley.
[00:46:06] Bobby Hurley.
[00:46:07] So Bobby Hurley was the head coach at Rhode Island.
[00:46:11] He had this guy under him as an assistant named Nate Oats and then he goes to Buffalo,
[00:46:20] takes Nate Oats with him.
[00:46:22] Bobby Hurley gets the job at Arizona State.
[00:46:26] Nate Oats takes over at Buffalo.
[00:46:30] You know Buffalo becomes this scary team that nobody wants to play.
[00:46:35] Nate Oats hit coach in Alabama going against Bobby's brother in the final four.
[00:46:41] There you go.
[00:46:41] That's your story, you know, sports just has a way of writing its own poetry.
[00:46:49] It's more enjoyable than people make it out of to be because I know we have a lot of
[00:46:54] these shows where people are just arguing stuff and I said you and I have pride ourselves
[00:46:59] on just having a good show, a good conversation based around sports.
[00:47:05] Yeah and we still mix it up.
[00:47:07] We made it up because you know, you got to make a pic.
[00:47:11] Like I'll pick this and you pick this thing but I won't be like who had a quick release
[00:47:15] Dan Moreno with Jared golf.
[00:47:17] It's like come on, I'm not arguing that.
[00:47:19] I'm not arguing that for 20 minutes when it's like it doesn't do me any good to come
[00:47:24] with the answer.
[00:47:26] Yeah, and you know, but yeah, so we got that story line.
[00:47:31] We already covered the NC State Cinderella storyline.
[00:47:34] They're not Cinderella because they're in the ACC.
[00:47:37] You know, but then you got Purdue trying to overcome and do what Virginia did.
[00:47:43] So it just writes itself, especially if we get Purdue, you con because you got you con
[00:47:49] won for the first repeat since 2007 against the team that lost to the 16 seed last year.
[00:47:56] So it just all kind of writes itself in a way that would make you think it's rigged.
[00:48:02] Nah, like I could.
[00:48:05] If I'm a rigged like, I don't know.
[00:48:09] I just know about you.
[00:48:10] I said it a long time ago if I was going to read college basketball, I got to get a Duke
[00:48:16] North Carolina National Title game.
[00:48:19] You know, like, like, like you've got to have a Duke North Carolina National Title game
[00:48:23] because that's the best rivalry in college basketball.
[00:48:27] They've only played once in the final four or once in the NCAA tournament, which just
[00:48:32] happened to be in the final four or a few years ago, which just happened to be Coach K's
[00:48:37] last game.
[00:48:38] North Carolina beat them a few weeks after Coach K coached his last game in camera in North
[00:48:45] Carolina beat them there.
[00:48:48] Like you can't make this stuff up like this is just sports.
[00:48:53] Yes.
[00:48:54] Speaking of sports we got you con USC.
[00:49:00] These beckons for three miss rebound.
[00:49:05] Oh, the refs are just butchering this game.
[00:49:09] 63 to 60.
[00:49:10] I've got with 528 left.
[00:49:14] You know, so Thursday, you know, we'll be back.
[00:49:18] You know, the NBA playoffs are approaching.
[00:49:21] It is April.
[00:49:23] So of course, you know, we're going to talk about the playoff race.
[00:49:26] We're going to talk about expectations headed into the playoffs.
[00:49:30] We're going to make our final four picks.
[00:49:32] We're going to have get it off my chest and much, much more.
[00:49:36] So thank you everybody for your support.
[00:49:38] Thanks for tuning in.
[00:49:40] Thanks for the love.
[00:49:41] Thanks for getting us over 20,000 views.
[00:49:44] Really appreciate that on YouTube.
[00:49:45] Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
[00:49:47] We will see you in a few days until then.
[00:49:51] You know, sad.
[00:49:52] Make sure grandma doesn't bust her hip.
[00:49:54] You know, so she can party with us.
[00:49:57] Absolutely.
[00:49:58] We'll try not to make her with lash, you know, with our throwbacks on it.
[00:50:04] You know, sad but he is even ill.
[00:50:09] B-A-4 don't bring killers to a back fight.
[00:50:13] Don't do it.
[00:50:14] logical.
[00:50:15] I am.
[00:50:16] You know, for the dogs.
[00:50:18] Not so far, but you might think I'm ill.
[00:50:23] And we'll be back Thursday.
[00:50:27] Have a good resting your week.
[00:50:30] We'll be on the lookout for tomorrow.
[00:50:33] We love you, America.
[00:50:35] Peace and love.
